I am getting this response when I am trying to open a file: Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser.”  What do I do?  I have opened this up in the past without a problem.

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Saved Tiffs will not open in CS2 and generate a "Could not complete your request because of a program error".

this was supplied by Ann Shelbourne.
Saved Tiffs will not open in CS2 and generate a "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
These files will often open in Photoshop 7.0.1 or in CS1 but not in CS2.
The trouble may be caused by bad dates in the EXIF data and can originate from an incorrectly-programmed digital camera; or from a scan that was created after after Jan1 of this year (because of a known bug in some scanner software).
If someone runs into the "Could not complete your request because of a program error" problem, and does not have CS1, try opening the Tiff in TextEdit.
The EXIF data is right at the top. Check the EXIF data for bad creation dates and change any incorrect ones there.
Save and close; and then the file will probably open in CS2 without a murmur.

    > If iPhoto causes problems why not open the images from the Finder?
I get the error if I open a file from within iPhoto using "OPen in external editor" and then alter it (or do not alter it) and try to save it over itself, or save it anywhere else.
I get the error if I do "Show file" in iPhoto to see the file in the Finder. Then, if I double-click and it opens in PS, and then alter it (or do not alter it) and try to save it over itself, or save it anywhere else.
    > And with »save it anywhere« You indicate that You use the Save As-command?
    Right.

  • Can't open .idml file in cs5

My client created .idml file in CS5.5. I cannot open it in CS5 or CS4. I open the application, click open, select the document and NOTHING happens... no error message, no document, nothing. Help?
Here's the file if someone wants to give it a go: http://pdgrafiks.com/fileCopy.idml.zip
    It's a small file.

I'm having the same issue, however my file size is 2.5 MB, so it shouldn't be empty. File was 5.5, had them save as .idml file, and when I try to open I get the following message:
Cannot open "filename here" Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions or upgrade to the latest version of InDesign.
Everything seems to be up-to-date, is there something I'm missing to be able to open this file?

  • CS5 cannot open .idml file exported from CS6

I've seen this question before from people having problems with other versions of InDesign. I, too, am having an issue with plug-ins that do not allow me to open an idml file. I downloaded the script that verifies the version used to create the idml to be sure it really was made from CS6, not CS5.5. It's not an empty file as it is 3.3mb Interestingly, when the customer packaged the file it came up with no links. It's a 32-page document with lots of photos, graphics, etc. How it is possible that it would not have any links? Any suggestions short of having to upgrade to CS6 would be helpful. Thank you.

    Hi Peter,
I'm guessing it might have been a network corruption problem. She brought in her laptop, we made another .idml file and loaded it to a USB stick, then transferred it to my computer. The file opened just fine. And yes, she had pasted all her images, so we have her collecting the bits and pieces for me to review and relink everything. I believe I have the patch, but will double-check. Thanks!

  • How I can open a file in format PDF

I need to open a file in format PDF from my application on Studio Creator.
    I already tried this:
    //code
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("gpdf file.pdf");
    //code
where gpdf is a pdf viewer on Linux.
    But it did nothing.
Is there any way to do this?
    Can anyone help me, please!!!!?????
    Thanks!!

    Hi
Copy the pdf file to the resources directory of your web application. Drag a hyperlink component on to your page (say Page1.jsp) and change value of the hyperlink from http://www.sun.com/jscreator to resources/file.pdf
Run the application now and click on the hyperlink. Now the browser will open the pdf file.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Having problems opening IDML file in CS5

    Hi Everyone,
    Can someone offer some assistance?
My colleague is on CS5.5 and i'm on CS5. She created an IDML file of a document we're working on and i've tried to open it. However when opening it, it freezes at the same point everytime.(when importing links) The only way i can get out of InDesign is through Task Manager. Any help would be appreciated.
    Chris.

First thing you need to do is empty the InDesign Recovery folder in case your forced program termination has left you with corrupt data that ID is trying to recover each time it starts up. By default the Recovery folder is in the same directory as your InDesign SavedData file, but the location is changeable in the application preferences. If you haven't deliberatley moved it, you'll find the location information to find it in the post about resetting prefs here: Replace Your Preferences
Now on to whether the file will open. It sounds like ID is looking for links in a location that is inaccessible. Open ID without attempting to open a file and Edit > Preferences...  Go to the File Handling tab and uncheck the boxes to check and relink when opening a file, then try to open the .idml. I would wait up to 15 or 20 minutes before presuming the file is damaged -- I've seen strange things where users have done stuff like embedded hundreds of images, and it ust takes a long time to parse the file sometimes.
If it still won't open, it's most likely damaged. Ask your colleague to send it to you again, but to zip it first for protection in transit.

  • InDesign CC cursor just spins after opening IDML files?

We have Adobe CC (not the 2014 yet).  I have a customer who is unable to open InDesign files that have been saved as IDML.  Well they open, but her cursor just spins never going to the arrow to work within the file.   However the same file is able to be opened on other computers and users with InDesign CC just fine.  She can even take an existing InDesign file from her desktop and open and save it as an IDML file, and then if she tries to open that it will have the same issue.  File opens but cursor spins forever.
    Windows 7 Enterprise x64 bit
Looking in task manager at process, it says InDesign is still running.  (no not responding messages, etc...)
She receives files in IDML format from clients and others that have CC 2014 and are saving it back or that have saved it in this format for our clients that don't yet have CC and need them.  Cannot figure out what to do or what would be causing this.  Help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

Hi Peter,  I just wanted to let you know that I opened a case with Adobe whom worked with our customer.   They closed the case saying they got it working by clearing the preferences.  http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/setting-preferences.html#restore_all_preferences_and _default_settings
However, this was something I already did and it continued to have the issue.  Why the same thing would have worked for Adobe, or if they in fact did something else while remoted into her machine I'm not sure.  But clearing the preferences is the proposed resolution and it is working for the customer now.  Thanks,

    Hi Fonsi,
System Exec.vi will allow you to run commands like launching a program easily but it is difficult and many times not possible to execute commands within an application.
A better way maybe to approach this though ActiveX. Please look at the following example that uses ActiveX to communicate with Excel.

If you are not familiar to ActiveX and LabVIEW, please read the document below:

    I hope this
    helps.

Because I can no longer open Adobe files, and have tried all obvious solutions, I've been told to defrag the Intel portion of my MacBook Pro. How do I do this?
I never use the Intel side, and have never partitioned the MacBook Pro.

I never use the Intel side,
Not understood, Intel make the processor that runs your Mac, there is no other 'side' to your Mac.
What Adobe application are you trying to open files with?

  • Can not open JPEG files and can not create JPEG files from other software

Can not open JPEG files and can not create JPEG files from other software (For example from Solidworks).
When I try to right click on a JPEG, a notice window appears written: "Windows Explorer has stopped working - Windows is
checking for a solution to the problem" and then the notice box disapears, the desktop appears and I can continue working.
From the other side - If I try to save as JPEG a screen of Solidworks (like a view of a part) the Solidworks falls but the JPEG
is created (I can see its name in the directory I created it).
I can open the JPEGS with the Paint software if I want but not with the Windows Photo Viewer.
I have the feeling that the Windows Photo Viewer disapeared from my computer - just a feeling.
    I will appreciate your assistance.

    Hi,
Did Windows Photo Viewer option appear when you right click the JPEG file and select open with?

I have recently moved over from CS2 on PC to CS3 in MAC - I used to be able to open a file and it would open up in a full window filling the whole screen - now it opens up in a box with no surrounding space. When I maximize the minute I tap cmd + the widow reduces to minimize and just zooms into a part of the file. I am sure this is basic stuff but any help out there please??

That's the difference between Macs and Windows. Windows opens applications in a... Window.
Try hitting the F key and see if that works for you.

  • I have an older version of imovie.  After I change the photos using the Ken Burns effect and save them, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' to change the zoom, the picture appears black and I can't change the zoom?

I have a five year old version of imovie that generally works fine.  However, when I add a photo using the 'Ken Burns' effect then save the movie, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' the picture appears black and I cannot change the zoom.  Any suggestions?

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.
    See here:
