  • Error opening images in PSE from Camera RAW

After opening RAW images in Camera Raw and clicking 'Open images' I often receive an error "Could not process request due to program error." On a second, third try I am usually able to open the images.
Raw images are from Nikon D5100, Camera RAW version 8.3,
    Adobe Photoshop Elements Version: 12.0 (12.0 (20130925.r.43436)) x32
    Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

I think others have reported that the size limits that apply to PSE 5 and 6:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402760.html
also affected their PSE 7 and 8.  If those limits don't apply, it would be good to know authoritatively.

I am trying to open up my iTunes from my iMac. It says "You can't open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac." What do I do? I've already force closed all other apps.

Well, obviously the problem isn't with the other apps, it's with the type of Mac you have. What type of Mac do you have?

  • Move Logic Express from one mac to another?

Hi people... I used to use these boards a while ago, and it's been a while since I last posted.
I have logic express 7.2 with all 4 jampacks installed on my G5, and in a couple of days I'm getting a MacBook so I wanted to install Logic Express on it.
I've just spent the last 2 hours turning my house upside down trying to find the install discs but I can't find them anywhere (must have lost them when I moved house)
So I was wondering if I'd be able to copy the .app of Logic Express from my G5 to the MacBook, and also copy the channel strip folders etc.
Is this possible, or am I going to have to shell out for a new install disc?

Some possible options in no particular order:
    (1) Copy the folders to a SUB Thumb Drive.
    (2) Use Dropbox
    (3) If your Macs are compatible with AirDrop see list:
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)
    iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
Activate AirDrop on both Macs to Move/Copy your Mail Folders.

  • Trouble opening email attachments sent from another mac

When I try to open email attachments from my new email acct at Charter.net they come out as giberish! Charter is unable to help me. They have no idea why this is happening. with my hotmail acct I can open them inconsistantly. I am sending things from my work mac to my mac at home. Both use system 10 and both computers have Word so that can't be the problem. I also make sure that the attachments say .doc in the title of the attachment. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

DOS 8.3 refers back to the pre-Windows days when file names were restricted to no more than 8 characters in the filename plus a three letter extension that identified the type of file; e.g., filename.doc for Word documents. A surprisingly amount of Windows code is still based on DOS, and some programs still behave oddly if you try using longer filenames or filenames with spaces or non-standard (letters and numbers and underscores) in the name.
On the Entourage machines, check Preferences> Compose and make sure the 'encode for' pull-down fiels reads 'any computer (Apple Double)'.
Your correct that Hotmail is rather well-known for mungling attachments sent from Macs. For that matter, it's prone to mungle attachments sent from or read by any browser other than Internet Explorer for Windows (e.g., if you use Firefox on Windows, Hotmail will corrupt the mail's formatting). It's possible to have either Safari or Firefox to pretend to be IE for Windows but I've never found that to actually help with Hotmail, probablly because it's checking for ActiveX which is Windows only. I have no knowledge of charter.net or how it's webmail works. One thing that may help with either email at home: try saving the attachments to the hard drive and then open the program you want to use and open the saved file from within the program (as opposed to trying to open the attachment from within the webmail browser or saving the attachment to disk and double-clicking it on the desktop to launch the associated program).
One thing that might work well is to bypass the webamil approach at home and use a stand-alone mail program, such as Apple's own Mail program in the applications folder or the free download of Mozilla Thunderbird. You mention using Entourage at school; that suggests you'd qualify for the student-teacher version of Microsoft Office, which would let you use Entourage at home as well (that's essentially my home Mac situation; Entourage-to-Entourage works quite well).

  • When opening image in Photoshop from Lightroom "edit it," it defaults to TIF format

When I open an image in Photoshop CC by using the "edit with" command in Lightroom 5, after editing, the file will default to a TIF image rather than PSD. This ends up creating large, duplicate files (TIF and PSD) after I correct the problem.
Isn't there a way to ensure Photoshop CC defaults to a PSD regardless of where it's opened.
I do not use any editing or image-adjusting features in Lightroom. Nothing is changed in a photo until I edit in Photoshop. I open with RAW in photoshop.
I'm using Windows 8.1 with plenty of memory and disk space.
    Thanks

    Hi EJToll,
If you like to set the default file format of the file you Edit in Photoshop CC thorugh Lightroom then perform following steps.
Lanuch Lightroom and go to Edit> Preference(Windows) Lightroom>Peference(Mac)
    Click "External Editing" tab
Change the option for "File Format" to PSD as deafult format for Edit In Adobe Photoshop CC
    Click "Ok" button
    Hope this helps.

  • Open images in Lightroom from other application

Using a picture browser or other image management application, after selecting one or more raw files (maybe from different folders), what is the syntax for a call to Lightroom to open those files (best directly in the develop module)?
Right now I can ask to open the images in Photoshop/ACR or to open a folder on Bridge, but I can't find out how to do that with LR. I just can't bypass the catalog part which is useless to me.

    LensView wrote:
Both questions are not specific to my own workflow problem, but are rather normal functionalities for an image management tool, which LR wants to be.
I might disagree a little here, depending on your definition of "normal".
IMO Lightroom is a SOLUTION to some of the more awkward, repetitive and limiting aspects of the normal - or let's say, usual - principle by which conventional software works.
That is: to open FILES from the file system, change their contents, and then save updated versions back to the file system, replacing the prior versions. With this concept, the file is the working data; and the working data is fully represented in the file.
Now this kind of method can be extremely powerful, and is completely familiar to anyone who has used any kind of standard computer program. So familiar, that it can seem like the only possible way that work can sensibly be done. But this is NOT what Lightroom "wants to be".
Lightroom does in fact "want" the user to achieve everything normally required: starting with a picture in the camera, ending with a print / JPG uploaded to a web gallery / whatever, via an interactive editing and management environment. And that is precisely what it delivers - it just does not do so by conventional file-based means.
Well, technically it's more accurate to say it does - but the working data file concerned, which is Opened from disk at the beginning of your session, changed, and written back to disk as updated data, is... the Catalog.
In LR you are in effect dealing with "pictures" rather than files per se. A "picture" consists of the dynamic combination of an original file on disk, together with some live information derived from the Catalog database.
So you can manipulate a whole library of such pictures not only at speeds not otherwise possible (if you were attempting to open and save those individual image files conventionally); but also, in organisational ways that ignore the limitations of a file-based approach. These include involving a given original image file on disk, in multiple processing variations, and multiple mutually exclusive groupings, on-the-fly without requiring any physical change or duplication of the file involved. It is all far more fluid and open-ended, because the whole undertaking  is virtualised via the Catalog database, and a whole workflow specifically designed around that.

  • Why does my iPad 1 not open documents in pages from my mac after downloading update on pages on mac?

Why does my iPad 1 not open documents from my updated mac-pro laptop pages since i updated the mac. Have updated latest pages for iPad 1 it could and still not able to open docs as i could before update on mac-pro

The most recent version of Pages that you can run on the iPad 1, running iOS 5.1.1, is not compaible with the newest version of pages on the Mac.
If you had the old version of Pages on your Mac, and off hand I can't remember what version it was, you should still be able to use that version and then it will be compatible with the Pages app on the iPad. I updated to the newest version of Pages some time back but was able to keep the older version as well.

  • ITunes won't open after transferring songs from old Mac.

I recently got a new MacBook Pro and used my external HD to copy and paste my songs from my old computer to the new one. It seemed to work immediately, but ever since I closed iTunes after the transfer, I cannot open the application at all. What I get is this error message:
I've tried to re-install iTunes; that made no difference. I looked into Finder to see if my files were still there, and there was no change. All of the songs play if I open them in Quicktime, but I get the same error message as above if I try to open them in iTunes.
Let me know if anyone knows what to do here. Thanks in advance!

    Hi, mbuco12.
Thank you for the question.  This sounds like you will need to rebuild your iTunes library file.  Below, I have included the article that walks you through this process.  Start with the section labeled Re-creating the iTunes Library file.

  • Opening images in CS5 from Lightroom 4

    Hi,
Can someone explain why, when I edit an image from Lightroom in CS5 ( or other plugins ), that when I save it and go back to Lightroom, the edited image is not there.
The original is there but not the edited version. It will say 2 x 2 for example, so I know the edited version is there somewhere, but I cannot see it in the filmstrip.
The only way I can see the edited image is if I close Lightroom down and restart it. Then it appears next to the original. Obviously that is not ideal.
I would appreciate any help, I hope its just a setting somewhere.
    Thanks,
    Dave.

Have you tried resetting your warnings in the preferences dialog?

  • Opening images in PS4 from LR3. Help please!

I've been noticing lately that when I work on an image in Lightroom 3.6 and then open it in Photoshop CS4, it's much darker and much less detail in the shadows. I open them in PS as sRGB and I have my colour settings as 'Web/Internet', so they should match, no?
Thanks for reading. Any help is appreciated.

photoshop reads a source image's embedded profile (or assigns its working default profile) and converts it to the monitor profile
    not sure about lightroom,
but you need to get a working knowledge of how your apps deal with tagged and untagged images, and what default profile they apply to untagged or unmanaged images
i suspect your photoshop workflow is stripping the ICC profile when you are saving for the web (or some other step in your work flow) and the difference you are seeing is the different profiles being applied (for all pratical purposes)
    i suggest starting here
    gballard.net/psd/cmstheory.html
downloading the iPhotoTESTfolder.zip (google it) and bringing it into lightroom and bridge may be an eyeopener...
that series contains tagged and untagged verisions of AppleRGB, AdobeRGB, sRGB, ProPhotoRGB

  • CS5 can only open images from file open

I've done some googling/forum searching to no avail so far. Entering my exact error only directed me to some twitter statuses, so I'm hoping someone will be able to help.
Basically, CS5 gives an error if I try to open images by: dragging from finder, double-clicking from thunderbird, using the edit tool in Acrobat Pro, double-clicking in Bridge and probably a number of other situations.
As the topic states, it only seems to be able to open files via File > Open (Open Recent also appears to work). Other than that, CS5 appears to be working normally. It's more of a nuisance than anything, but it's disturbing my workflow quite a bit, so that's why I've decided to post about it.
Now here's the kicker: This new development seemingly coincides with installing some drivers (that's assuming they are called drivers in the OSX world) for a Lexmark 654de scanner/copier we just had installed here at work. I searched the computer for "lexmark" hoping I could trash some related files but literally nothing shows in the results.
You may argue, genuinely, that I should be posting this on some kind of Lexmark forum, and I may end up doing that. I assume a forum of photoshop users to be more helpful than Lexmark support forum if they even have one, though.
Error Text is as follows: The document "whatever.jpg" could not be opened. Photoshop cannot open files in the "Adobe Photoshop JPEG file" format.
Insert TIF for TIF files, PDF, etc. It seems to happen to all the common filetypes I use. Neither InDesign nor Illustrator are experiencing similar issues (if that helps).
    Standard infomation:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.2 x64
    Mac OSX 10.6.6
    8GB RAM
    952.98 GB Free Space
    512mb ATI Radeon HD 5670
Lexmark 654de scanner/copier/fax machine could be related to the problem
Thanks for reading and offering any advice you may have.

This is a long shot but try going to Preferences/Type and uncheck "Show Font Names in English".
Quit illustrator and restart, does it work now?
The reason I´m suggesting this is that unless I have this box unchecked, some internal function in illustrator crashes after I´ve opened one document and I have to quit & restart if I wan´t to open another one. A rather silly bug and I stumpled upon the solution by accident after cursing illustrator for a couple of months...
