Open iMovie PlugIns

I just downloaded a couple of SlickSampler plugins. One is a dmg.bin file, the other is a img.bin file. I've read somewhere that Safari will open these after the download is complete, but I have already downloaded them with Camino.
How do I open these files to access the plugins?

.. Double clicking the files kept launching Excel..
wowy? strrrange ...
when you select a file in Finder, hit Apple-I, you can set with what app such a type of file should be opened with..
to tell Excel to open .bin is a little ... 'exotic' ...
allthough, Excel is such a nice guy, have a look here:

  • IMovie plugins + question about a transition

I heard that Apple has some free iMovie plugins that you can download but I don't know where they are. Does anybody know where?
There is a transition that I have seen used where the scenes you can see one scene through another. If you want to see it go here
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INx1baOQH_k
The exact place where it happens is at 1:45. I know that the scenes are slowed down and it looks like a cross dissolve, but when I tried it, it didn't work. Anybody know what was done?
Oh, and in case you're wondering, no I haven't been able to contact the guy who made the video, otherwise I would've asked him already.

    X_Adagio4389,
The free plugins that Apple offered was some time ago. I think most of them have long since been incorporated into iMovie.
As for your other question, it looks like what you're trying to do is not so much a transition as it is the layering of one video image over another.
One way to do this is with QuickTime Pro. For a serious iMovie user, it's a useful tool. Kind of a Swiss Army knife for video.
Use Edit>Add to Selection & Scale to add the second video layer. Then open Window>Show Movie Properties. Select the second video track and click Visual Settings.
Select Blend from the transparency drop down menu and adjust the level of transparency to your liking.
Export the completed effect to DV Stream and then import that to your iMovie project.
I know my directions are a bit brief. Post back if you have questions.

  • Every Time I Open iMovie It Freezes

The other day, I imported an event into iMovie '11. During the optimizing phase, the loading bar froze and the spinning rainbow wheel appeared. I waited for a couple of minutes to see if the problem would fix itself but it didn't so I decided to force quit iMovie. Now every time I open iMovie, it goes straight to trying to import the event again and will just freeze. I've tried restarting, shutting down, and force quitting it multiple times but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions? Also, I'm using an iMac OS X 10.6.8

Have you added anything unusual to the project, compared to others that play normally? For example - photos other than jpegs, or 3rd party sound effects downloaded from the internet.
Have you made any speed changes, such as slow motion, using manually entered percentages rather than the presets from the speed change slider. This normally causes issues with audio on export, but doesn't seem to affect the project in Edit or Preview mode. So it's probably not causing the freeze issue, but thought I should mention it.

Was your iMovie included on a Snow Leopard disk that came with your Mac?
If so, install iMovie by inserting the Snow Leopard Install Disk. Do not reinstall OSX (yet). but click Utilities and look for an item that installs additional apps. Choose iMovie.

  • Can not open iMovie files

I have a strange problem. I just got a new Intel iMac. I moved all my files over tot he new system, no problem. On my old system, I kept some files out side of the users folder so my wife and I can both access them (iTunes, iDVD, iMove, etc)
I have been running like this years with out issue. But the new system seems to have problems with this arrangement. The problem is limited to iMovie, and limited to my wife account (not scoring any point here ).
I keep these “shared” project files in users folder, but outside of any home folder. So the folders look like this.
    ~\users\iMove
    ~\users\iDVD
    ~\users\iTunes
Also under users are our individual home folders
    ~\users\sunil
    ~users\tish
When my wife tries to open a iMove file she gets an error that the disk is full or she does not have permission to write to this folder. This only happens with iMovie files, the others open fine. From my login I can open iMovie files, as well as other files.
I have checked the permission on the users folder, the iMovie folder and she seems to have rights to read and write to them. Additionally we are both Admins on the system.
Here is what I have tried already (none resolved the issue)
    • Repaired permissions on the volume
    • Verified permission, she has read/write to the folder as well are the files she is trying to open, she is also an admin.
    • Optimized the system (onyx)
    • Reapplied permission, including subfolders.
    • Moved files to another location.
    • Moved files into her home folder
    • Moved files into the shared folder.
    My Config
    Intel iMac 1.5GB
    250GB HDD (125GB) free
    OSX 10.4.7
    iLife 06
    Any ideas?

Sorry, I don't have any firm answers for this situation, but I can offer some guesses.
iMovie seems particularly sensitive to permission issues. Problems can occur when moving projects from startup disk to startup disk, as you've apparently done.
The issues are complicated by the fact that an iMovie 5/iMovie 6 project is a package, a special kind of file that behaves like a folder. The package contains other files and folders.
When you use the Get Info window to assign permissions to the package, the new permissions aren't necessarily applied to the contents of the package. Those items retain their old permission settings, which I suspect is what causes the problem for iMovie. (The Get Info window lets us apply new permissions to the CONTENTS of a folder, but that doesn't work on a package.)
To change permissions inside the package, try this:
    • In the Finder, create a duplicate of the project. Work on the copy.
    • Select the name of copy and remove the suffix ".iMovieProject" from the name. Tell the dialog window that opens to accept the change. The iMovie project icon will disappear, replaced by the normal Finder folder icon. The project will now behave like a folder.
    • Select the folder and use the Get Info window to set permissions for the folder, then press the "Apply to enclosed items" button to apply those permissions to the items it contains.
    • Re-select the name of the folder and add back the suffix ".iMovieProject". When you accept the change, the folder icon will change back into an iMovie project icon.
    • Try opening the project in iMovie. With luck, everything will now work.
When using an external disk to store projects, another solution is to use the Get Info window (for the disk) to set the disk to ignore permissions.

  • Cannot open imovie libraries created "with a newer version" (false!)

First of all, excuse me for my bad english!
I've an iMac 21.5'', fall '09 series. I'm not an expert user (I use Windows at work) and I use the Mac just for fun, when I have time.
A couple of months ago, I've updated to Maveriks. Then I try to update my iLife '11, too, but the Apple Store didn't show me the "update" option. Following some italian blogs tips, I change the language preferences and that let me able to update iLife. iMovie updated my video libraries and everythings works fine.
Yesterday, after a long period, I switched my iMac on, and check for software updates. Then I updated iPhoto and iMovie. Again, iMovie updated my libraries, and everythings works fine.
Then I choose "update all", the system prompted me asking my AppleID and pwd, the default language switched to italian, and all updates takes places.
On restart, "software updates" re-show me again iPhoto and iMovie, and other updates. I choose "update all", and the system reinstall iMovie among the others.
When I open iMovie, it prompted me with a "choose a library" messages, but whatever library I choose, it alert me with a messages that claim something like "cannot open this library, because it was created with a newer version of iMovie".
The problem is that "the newer version" is the "same" version (10.0.2) - exept for the different languages preference settings, and I dont' wanna wait until the next iMovie version to update my libraries
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

...It was so bad my English?

  • Problem Opening iMovie '09

Whenever I attempt to open iMovie '09, the icon will bounce on the dock but the small white dot under it that indicates that it is running never appears. However, if I enter the Force Quit menu, iMovie appears to be running. I have reinstalled iMovie from the provided Applications CD but the problem persists. I might be doing something wrong in the reinstallation. Should I uninstall it before inserting the applications CD with a program such as CleanMyMac or AppCleaner? What should I do?

I have this same problem, only when I open it, it bounces on the dock forever, then after 20 minutes, it quits. I went to the Apple Store, and they helped me fix it. Try opening another user account on your mac. (ie: Username: apple .password: apple .) Then open iMovie in that user. If it works, then it is a problem in your main user account (administrator). Try uninstalling any new software you put on your Mac, and go from there.

  • Having problem opening iMovie 7... with Panasonic PV-GS500.

    Hi there,
I just bought iMac 4Gb. I am tried to conect my Panasonic Digital comcoder PV-GS500 into iMAC. Camcoder inserts using Firewire and USD port for Mac.
When I inserting, it does read my SD card on the camcoder, but iMovie should opeb automatically, but it's not opening at all.
Is there something missing on the computer or am I doig something wrong.
As I understand once you connect it should open iMovie.
    Regards,
    Alex

You will need a firewire cable that is 4 pin, which fits into the camcorder and at the other end is a six pin that inserts into the firewire port of your iMac. I haven't heard of a USB cable at one end and a firewire cable at the other end. (The six pin end may look similar to a USB connection)
It's most probably it's a firewire cable that you are using and not the USB cable.
Imovie doesn't start automatically when you connect the firewire between the camera and the iMac.
When you connect to the iMac switch on your camera to VTR mode and then start iMovie.
iMovie, in version 7 an import window will automatically open for you to import your footage.
Let us know how you get on.
    Look at this video.

When I open iMovie, it says that quick time componets are missing, "Please re-install"...When I do that it says that ONLY 9 is supported and I have to have that first. What gives with that?

What version of iPhoto are you using?
This is the the first time I have ever launched it.
Does that mean there are no photos in the library? If so move it to the Trash bin in the Dock and launch iPhoto again.
If there are photos in the library do the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • How to open iMovie 10.0.7?

    Hello everybody,
After the upgrade in version 10.0.7, I lost all my movies... how to open iMovie if it crash at the opening?

No bootable clone backup from before the update?     OK.  I think the following files and folders would need replacing with versions dated before you downloaded iMovie 10.0.7:
    Applications/iMovie.app
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovieapp.........plist   [deleting the 10.0.7 version sufficient - will be recreated by 10.0.6
    ~/Library/iMovie
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.imovieApp
I think this covers everything but I can't be certain.  Keep copies of the 10.0.7 versions so you can if necessary restore the status quo
Before trying all of the above its probably worth just deleting the current  .plist file (with iMovie not running), rebooting, then trying iMovie 10.0.7 again (if you have already tried this).
Failing that I would delete iMovie 10.0.7 and re-install - several people have reported problems with download and its just possible that something went wrong the first time.
If this still doesn't work it may be worth systematically removing event folders from the problem library with the finder (iMovie not running) because there is probably one event that iMovie 10.0.7 'doesn't like'
    Geoff.

  • I can't open iMovie!! Why?

I can't open iMovie because I get this message:
iMovie requires a graphic card that is compatible with
Quartz Extreme. One or more of your graphics cards
    does not support Quartz Extreme.
I only have one card (the original) and it was able to open iMovie before (iMovie 08 or HD)
and then one day this happen. What's going on?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Update Tiger to 10.4.11 and try trashing the preference files :
    *Quit iMovie.*
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. iMovie will create a new one the next time it runs. _Empty the trash and run a permissions repair from the Disk Utility folder._
    The files are located here:
    Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist

  • When I open iMovie, the app searches for missing iPhoto files.  These are files I deleted.  I have to close about 30 dialog boxes before I can start using iMovie.  How do I make this stop?

When I open iMovie (09), the app searches for missing iPhoto files.  These are files I deleted.  I have to close about 30 dialog boxes before I can start using iMovie.  How do I make this stop?

So it seems the issue is when iMovie is wanting to creat thumbnails, if I ask it to ignore then it's fine but if not it hangs up searching for the video file.

  • Getting error while opening our plugin in InDesign CC debugger

    Hi,
I am getting below error while opening our plugin in Adobe InDesign CC Debugger. Kindly help me to fix this issue.
NodeID_rv::fNodeID should be nil, NodeID_rv should only be used as a return value, and it should always Relinquish() it's NodeIDClass*.  Otherwise we'll leak
    Thanks,
    Vimala L

    Hi Vimala L,
you probably use the type NodeID_rv as a type of a local variable. If so, replace it by the type NodeID.
Or you have derived your own class from class NodeID. In this case be careful and use NodeID and NodeID_rv in the same way as InDesign does.
