Open in Dashboard... Does not work. Will not Add to Dashboard
I have been trying for days to get Safari to Open in Dashboard. It doesnt work. I select the section of webpage, I click the Add button... nothing happens!
I have tried reinstalling Safari (latest version). No luck, the problem still persists. Can someone please help me! I really need to add a widget to my dashboard from a website but can't without this feature.

Click the widget icon (the one with the scissors) first, then draw the area you wish to capture, then press the return or enter key.
That ought to open Dashboard, displaying the web clip you just created.
If you've already tried that approach, go to your Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folders. There, move to the trash the widget-com.apple.widget.web-clip.plist file, then restart Safari and try creating another widget.

Open "SAFE" document: does it works or not?
Hi all guys.
A customer is asking me why, after have downloaded a file ( .doc, for eample) the document is not open automatically.
I've read many issues about this and the setting in General/Open Safe document.... seems to be the only setting I can do.
But it does not work!

RobIn my case the Safari Preference, "Open 'Safe" files after downloading" does work. I keep it unchecked as a security precaution and I highly recommend others do as well. You didn't mention if your customer had a copy of Word on their machine. If not, that would certainly explain why the ".doc" file was not automatically opened after downloading.
One possible "workaround" is to simply double-click the downloaded file from within Safari's "Download" window. No need to retrieve it fron the Finder, though that is also an option. Just double-click the files icon. -
OCR on Acrobat 9 Pro not working - will not explain why.
I ran the OCR function on multiple 500-page PDF documents for an upcoming project. For the most part, the OCR worked. However, OCR DID NOT work on specific pages within the documents (would usually happen once or twice every few thousand pages). I went back through the PDF documents to try and run the OCR on the individual pages that did not work the first time, and the screen showed the following error: "Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) on this page because:". There was nothing else in the error box - no explanation as to why OCR would not work on those individual pages.
Has anyone else had luck with this problem? I would really appreciate any help I can get.Very likely the pages of interest have a least one character of renderable text. This might not be readily seen by you or me but it'd be there.
Acrobat's OCR will not process a page that has any renderable text.

Hp recovery disks not working- will not reboot
I have an hp envy ultrabook touchsmart model 14-k033TU. About a week ago the laptop decided to shut down and perform an update. It was bed time so I let it do it's thing. During then update it may have switched off as it was not plugged in ?ran out of power. When I next tried to switch it on a blue screen appeared with a sad emoticon with the message "your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collectinng some error info...". I cannot read the source of the error as it flashes by too quickly. It alternates between this blue screen and a black one that says "preparing automatic repair".
I called hp after trying a few solutions online, several of which weren't applicable as it will not start normally. It just loops between the two screens. They sent me some recovery disks but I had to purchase a usb cd/dvd drive to use these. I put the first disk in and nothing happened. I pressed esc and tried to boot from disk as someone suggested but it did not work. The loop continues. I am not sure what I else I can try. I guess it's deeply corrupted now. Any ideas?Hi @Yana5789

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth? Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen? Was the driver installed correclty?

I am a relatively 'new' user. Touch was a gift, I used it in a simplistic way - listened to music took a few photos, added a few calendar events. After a year I then decided to be more proactive and found a few free apps (Solitaire) - then had a the frozen screen problem which I though was connected to low battery, but it wasn't. I recharged it, still could not access, then tried a full restore and got an error message. Took it to a Genius Bar and was told it was a hardware problem and as it is out of warranty I could trade in or just buy a different product. As this is my first Apple product is this usual? Do Apple products have a very short shelf life - I anticipated that it would last me longer than a year! Has anyone else had this problem? Was it able to be resolved? Or is it worth trying to get it repaired - and if so who can do it - Apple Store did not offer that to me as an option?
Sure sounds like a hardware problem. It happens some times. The iPod is just an electrical device.
Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one for this price. Apple does not repair your iPod.

IPhoto not working, will not open!
Everytime I try to open iPhoto, I get the folllowing message. iPhoto is unable to open this library. You have opened this photo library with a newer version of iPhoto. Please quite and use the latest version of iPhoto. According to my system updates and ap store, I'm already updated. I've gone through Finder, pictures and launchpad and all the icons for iPhoto lead me to the same error message. I can't even find a place to uninstall and reinstall. If I put in trash, will I be able to re download and will I loose all my photos? I really can't stand iPhoto. I should have manually added all these photos without using this program.
Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database. -
Liquify filter will not work, will not even open.

I cannot find my bookmarks. I've tried troubleshooting with the information from several articles with no luck. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. I can only add 2 bookmarks, then it won't let me add anymore. All of my bookmarks are gone, I don't mind re-adding them but now I can't even do that. Please help.
Even though the Firefox application was not shown as running in the Applications Tab of Task Manager, it WAS shown as running in the Processes Tab. I ended the process, and the problem was solved.

ON DEMAND not working - will not load listings.
This has been going on for 2-3 weeks now. When I press the on demand button on the physical remote or choose a program to watch On Demand using the tv remote app on my iPad, the screen turns black with the words "XFINITY On Demand" on the screen...I can hear the regular cable channel running behind the black screen.
After a few seconds of unsuccessful loading of the On Demand screen, a message appears that says, "UNABLE TO PROCESS REQUEST. Please try your request again in a few minutes. For more info and further assistance, please visit Comcast.com/help." Then it goes back to the cable channel I was previously watching (and could hear in the background of the black screen).
Retrying the request repeats this process. Tried resetting the box using the "My Account" app and nothing happened. WHATS GOING ON HERE?In addition, when this problem started, I was in the middle of watching a program On Demand and it froze. I exited out and began receiving this message every time I try to access On Demand.

I purged cache in bridge, and photoshop. NO photos will open when I double clik, or will not open again in ACR alone. When I double clik on raw file I get Sign In required Notice--We will now register your TRIAL to your Adobe ID-------I am alread a SUBSCRIBER-------------Yes I get this same issue in Creative Cloud and same issue. error: Camera Raw editing is not enabled-----Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature. These errors are happening inside both CS6 Bridge and CCphotoshop Bridge------NOTE----I am ALREADY signed into Creative Cloud and still get those message errors.........Need to fix ASAP.
When you sign in to Adobe.com with the user ID and Password your using in the Creative Cloud and Photoshop does this link https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html show that the account has a subscription?

I had a repair done on my MacBook Pro and had to have a new hard drive installed. The Apple Auth Repair Shop then updated the OS from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5. Now my iPhoto v 9.2.3 will not open and it sounds like it will not work with this OS. Can you please advise?
You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
installation current.

Ooops I put the lot in the strap line!
My printer crashed mid printing photo. Printer works OK in other apps. Now locked out in PhotoshopCC with error message: There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.

Plug it in while on wifi and it will automatically back up. -
My iphone 5 has 7GB, went to apple store the guy said my backup that I was restoring from was corrupted so I have to restore it as a new phone wondering that if I do this and it does not work, will iTunes have my old backup saved?
Yes, if you have been backing up on a regular basis.
If this is your first time backing up, then no.
you can check edit - preference - backup - see what is listed
