Open in Elements as a dng

Having watched Julianne Kosts excellent videos, I wanted to open several images in photoshop. However, because my purpose was to use these images as part of a collage, I was interested that julianne said that the images would open as DNGs and would not automatically be save as psd's untill i actuallt did a save. Howver i found that every image opened was saved as a psd automatically. I am using photoshop elemensts10. Is this the reason? I have to delete each and every one otherwise

You are expressing concern over a very trivial issue anyway. Regardless of whether you are using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, once that image has been opened in either one of those programs it is no longer raw image data. It has been demosaiced, and the adjustments that you made in Camera Raw have become part of the pixel makeup of the image. The fact that the title bar on the window says you are working with a raw file (including DNG) is only indicating the name of the file that contained the data originally. Neither Photoshop nor Elements is capable of editing raw image data.

Lightroom open in elements editor raw question.

I have just got lightroom 3.3 and it imports my .dng raw files no problem. if I use the save metadata to file and try to open in elements editor it open the file as a .tiff. instead of opening it as a raw file with ACR. I think the roblem is the metadata is not being stored in the same directory as the image file but I can't see where to check/change this. I assume that is what is causing this to happen.

Why aren't my .CR2 RAW files opening in Elements 9.0 from my Canon Mark III 5D?

I am super confused as to why my old Canon Rebel CR2 (RAW) files have always opened in Elements 9.0, but now my new camera (Canon Mark III 5D)'s RAW files are not opening? Thanks!

You have two alternatives:
(1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

Can i open Photoshop Elements using Lightroom

In the Menu Photo/Edit In
can I set it to open in Elements 10
And will it function as it does with Photoshop CS5. Ie open edit then save back as another version.

Making bridge open in elements 6 automatically

When I select an image in Bridge it is opening with preview instead of Photoshop Elements 6.
I want to make the images open in Elements 6 automatically.
How do I do this ?

So you mean having Bridge that came with PSE 6
This is a bit tricky because we are used to the Photoshop edition and I don't know if it acts the same because I believe Bridge PSE was a bit more limited then the real deal :-).
However, like station two already stated, you need to set the file type associations.
First try Bridge / preferences and see if you have a section called File Type Associations. Then find the file type you want to open in PSE and from the button menu right choose the wanted application.
If not possible use the Finder itself for this.
Select a file you want to open in PSE, then use the Get Info command ( cmd + i) and inhere you also have the option to choose what default application to open it with.
Include the apply to all option and you should be OK.

What do you mean you loaded the lessons? They should just be sample files to follow along with the book. This likely has nothing to do with the issue you are encountering.
Do you get an error message when attemting to launch?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Photoshop.com is no longer available. The service transferred to Revel.
Ignore the sign-in altogether.
You may need to turn off Sync in Organizer prefs if you have it activated.

*.cr2 won't open in Elements 10

I have just downloaded Elements 10, and to my disappointment, the .cr2-files from my Canon 60d won't open in Elements.
I have installed Camera Raw 6.5.0.216 and that did not help ... Can anyone assist?:-)

The EOS 60D only requires ACR 6.2; so 6.5 should definitely provide support for your CR2 files.
Can you check that the plug-in has actually installed correctly.

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

Editor will not open in elements 7

I had to reboot my computer to factory settings and installed El 7 several times and editor will not open. Error message elements editor has stoped working. I have installed it in my sons computer and no problem. Can any one pull me out of this black hole?????????????

Hi, Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below: Solution 1:1. Close Elements.2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences. Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list. Closing of open MRP elements

Hi All,
I have a lot of open MRP elements in the system. They are since from 2000. The MRP elements are IndReq, DepReq, PchOrd, PurRqs, OrdRes, SubReq, Deliv, ConRel, PlOrd, Prdord, SchLne. So please tell how to close all the open MRP elements. All the materials will not be having all these MRP elements. Please tell me which MRP elements should be closed in decending order i.e. what should be the sequence.

Hi Ramesh,
You need to analyze case by case basis as to which are linked & the impact of deleting them.
But what you can do is, run MRP with Planning mode as 3, this will remove all procurement proposals (planned order / purchase rqn) which are not firmed. Now you can analyze the ones which are firmed, i.e. if it has been created manually or edited manually.
The production orders, purchase orders, scheduling agreements needs to be analyzed & based on the confirmation from both operations & finance personnel in your firm, you may proceed to delete / close the same.
It would be better if you analyze them thoroughly & if you face a specific issue then revert.

Opening premier elements for first time. Been "gathering user info" for 15 minutes...what to do? Previously hit "organize", ran for 25 min till hit 100%, then "had to close"?

Unfortunately, there's not enough info listed to give you an effective answer.
Can you give more detailed system spec's. There are a lot of differences in RAM, & Hard Drive Technologies. Is your 2TB a single hard drive, or multiple drives in RAID? While a single 2TB drive is nice for the storage capacity, they also sacrifice some performance to reach that capacity... What speed is the RAM, & I'm assuming it's properly opperating in Dual Channel mode (watch your POST screen to be sure). Which Core i7 CPU are you running, & what Operating System are you running. Finally, bring up your task manager, & see what processes are using CPU cycles. Also, are you starting up PrE8 through the default shortcut which uses the Welcome screen?
A quick guess is that Auto Analyzer & the Welcome screen are behind your troubles, but can't be sure till more info is available.
There is a current thread about Auto Analyzer, & I've posted a way to bypass the Welcome screen in several threads.
