Open libraries automatically upon opening AI file?

Each time I open AI, I have to re-establish which libraries I want to work with.  Is there any way to have them connect/open automatically upon opening the file?  Thank you!

Use the New Document Profiles in (Mac) HD>Users>(yourname)>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Adobe Illustrator CS3>New Document Profiles. For CS4 add en_US before the New Document Profiles. Open the one you use most. Open the libraries you want to appear and from the flyout of each panel make them persistent. Save the file and restart AI. Choose File>New and the new document should have these libraries available.

Sorry, yes this is Microsoft Excel.  The Microsoft XP has Excel files denoted as xl, the later versions of Microsoft Excel are denoted as xls files.  The later verions of Microsoft Excel open the xl files OK, does Excel for Mac not able to do this?

  • How to automatically open csv files in Excel on imac

I am migrating back from Google Chrome to firefox and would like to have the browser automatically open csv files to Excel on my mac desktop. The step to have them saved in the download folder and then go in an open it in Excel adds an unnecessary action. In the earlier versions of Firefox on my windows machine this worked as desired. Any help will be appreciated.

The Yahoo Finance server sends the file with the ''Content-Type: application/octet-stream'' header. This is a generic MIME type that doesn't describe the type of file. Therefore you will always see a download prompt, regardless of your download preferences.
    * [https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/Security/Securing_your_site/Configuring_server_MIME_types What are MIME types? | MDN]
To get around this issue, install the Force Content-Type add-on.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/force-content-type/
In the Add-ons Manager, Extensions category, click the Options button next to Force Content-Type. Create two rules as follows:
    * URL: '''(.csv)$''' Old Content-Type: '''text/plain''' New Content-Type: '''text/csv'''
    * URL: '''(.csv)$''' Old Content-Type: '''application/octet-stream''' New Content-Type: '''text/csv'''
You should then be able to select what you want to do with CSV files (i.e. open them directly rather than save), and check the "Do this automatically…" option.
    You're welcome.

  • How do i make firefox automatically open a file. "Do this automatically with files like this from now on." does NOT work.

I have firefox set to Open .wav files with VLC and i have the check box marked to "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." But every time i click download for a .wav voicemail from gmail, i get the same dialog box. I just want firefox to hand the downloaded file to VLC and play it. I don't want to have to click anything after i click the download link. Isn't that action what i'm telling firefox to do after i mark the checkbox with "Do this automatically with file like this from now on." ? Isn't that implied with my selection of the box? How can i fix this?i want to click a "download" link for a .wav voice mail in Gmail and have it automatically play in VLC without any further interaction from me.

No it's saving the preferences and the check box remains checked from session to session. It will even continue to ask me to what to do with the file even in the same session when i try to download the same file again 5 seconds after i downloaded it the first time.

  • Opening HyperLinked Files contained in a database field Automatically alongwith Crystal Report

    Hi
I am using Crystal Report 2008. We have a database table which has Bill of Material for all the parts, the table also has additional field which contains LINK to PDF File (i.e. c:\PDFFiles\XPart.PDF) which is containing Part specifications. Now i am able to create a Hyperlink from this field and user is able to click on the field to open the file.
Is there a way, that all the associated linked files open automatically whenever a user previews this report.Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shekhar

You can achieve the desired behavior by adding a UFL (User unction library) that includes a function for triggering and passing parameters ot a different process.
At least one of the 3rd-party UFLs listed at Crystal Reports viewer comparison, Crystal Reports scheduler comparison and other utilities ( viewer and scheduler compa… provides such a function.
You would then be able to add Crystal formulas that result in opening linked documents as a byproduct of previewing the report.

To configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open PDF files:
    1. Quit Internet Explorer(any other browser)
    2. Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
    3. Choose Edit > Preferences.
    4. Select Internet in the list on the left.
    5. Deselect(Uncheck) Display PDF in Browser, and click OK.
    6. Restart Internet Explorer

  • Some clients Can't open XLSX files in Libraries using template.dotx but can open xlsx files in libraries using template.doc

If I create a new library using any Excel/Word template - DOC, DOTX, XLS, XLTX and then upload a XLSX document (or docx) then some of my clients experience issues opening the document.  My work around in the past has been to resave the document
as XLS or DOC.  Interestingly Old Libraries (Libraries using template.doc) don't have a problem with xlsx or docx documents.  (This only works because most of the clients experiencing the problem only open a few documents and we only have to
resave a few documents.  I don't know why these clients have this problem though.)
We are now testing a new Terminal Server implementation.  One with OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office.  We can't open xlsx files on new libraries but can on old libraries.  (docx files are not a problem though)  I found a couple of
work arounds.  One work around is to click on the down arrow by the document name and select "Edit in Excel" which fails, but then clicking on the document name after will then prompt you to Open/save the document.  Clicking on Open
successfully opens the document in OpenOffice.  (So rather tedious for the users but nothing has to be changed to make it work.)
The other option is to create a template from one of the libraries that is working and then use it to create a new library and save my documents to the new library.  Then I'm prompted to Open/Save the xlsx documents in the library.  This
option is less tedious for the user but then I have to go through and recreate any libraries using template.dotx.  Creating a new library using the standard Document Library option and selecting Word or Excel 2003 does not resolve the issue - it has to
be created from a template created from an existing library that works in the Terminal Server implementation.
My boss is opting for the latter option unless I can come of with an alternative that doesn't mean additional steps for the users.  Training is an issue because most of the Terminal Server users are shop floor workers.
My question is, is there a patch or fix that addresses this issue or any other work arounds that would be less work?
Additional Info:  Our Sharepoint implementation is the Enterprise version is installed but we do not have the Excel related Features activated (and these can't be activated due to licensing).  I'm not sure if that matters or not but it is
a different configuration from how most SharePoint installations are configured.  SP1 is installed.  I have not installed any recent CU's.  Versions I see in Patch Status screen include 14.0.6029.1 (primarily) with some additional features
    reporting 14.0.6105.5, 14.0.6107.5, 14.0.6112.5 and 14.0.6114.5.
    Nancy Forbes

We have tried a couple of additional things.
We uninstalled OpenOffice and are testing LibreOffice.  I also installed CMIS from the SharePoint Administrator's toolkit, added the solution, and deployed it to my sites.  The "Producer" feature is activated on the site I am testing with.
I created a new library and posted some docx, doc, and xlsx files to it.  All files can be opened as Read-only from the Library list.  The only way I have found that I can edit the files is to Open the Library with Explorer.   I then deactivated
the producer feature and tested opening the SharePoint documents from Explorer and it worked the same.
So am I misunderstanding what the CMIS Producer feature is for?

  • Automatically open raw files in camera raw

PLEASE READ the post before posting a reply as i may have already tried something you think might be the fix.
basics: latest version of all adobe CC 2014 products including bridge 6.1.0
    win8.1
after i've imported raw files (either RW2 or CR2) it USED to be that when i double clicked on a file it automatically opened camera raw and then after my edits and i clicked OPEN IMAGE it would then open in pshop.
now they open in windows image viewer (sic)
    SO
i went to EDIT>PREFERENCES and changed the specific camera files to open in pshop 2014. (as there's nothing that allows 'open in camera raw')
so now when i double click on a file in BRIDGE it opens PHOTOSHOP and THEN goes to Camera Raw 8.6
    BUT...
i want to DOUBLE CLICK and open CAMERA RAW without going into pshop.
yes i know if i right click on the image it offers 'open in camera raw' which works, OR i can Ctrl+R and they open just fine,
but where can i set it so a double click (which is faster) does this automatically?
    thanks in advance.

What kind of TIFFs?  Are they multi-layered, for instance?  ACR will not open layered files.

  • InDesign CS3 crashes upon opening a file from Snow Leopard

Hello all. I'm desparately hoping someone can help me with this issue as I've spent the better part of my weekend working on two important files for work and would hate to start over.
I've been working at home in InDesign CS3. My home computer has Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I don't have any font managmenet plug-ins or programs other than Font Book. I started two new files and when I took them to work, both files crash InDesign upon opening. I don't get to open InDesign at all. My work computer has InDesign CS3 as well running Tiger 10.4.11. It is running Suitcase Fusion, which I've tried disabling and then trying to open the file to no avail. I've started the computer in safe mode to try and open the file, deleted preferences, disabled all fonts on the computer, repaired preferences, any and all suggestions listed on these forums and the rest of the internet. All of these solutions were met without success.
All files are stored on a portable hard drive. However, there are files on the drive that were created on the work computer that still open fine so I know the drive is a non-issue.
After InDesign crashes, I'll restart it just by clicking the program icon (not by double-clicking my file or dragging the file to InDesign) and it will crash all by itself. When I restart it again, it asks to repair the file that crashed it. Saying 'YES' crashes the program again.
This is a problem that just arose this morning and I have yet been able to go back home to try and open the files on my home computer. I'm praying my work computer did not corrupt the files somehow.
I'm hoping there is someone out there who can help me?

I understand what you're saying regarding removeable media. I'm tying this message from home with much frustration. I copied the file off the drive onto my desktop, ejected the hard drive, and I get the same crash error:
"The application InDesign has unexpectedly quit. A crash report has been generated.  To provide us with the best chance of fixing this problem, please select Continue to add a detailed description that includes the steps required to reproduce the crash. Adobe will use this crash report to help find a future solution to this problem."
I believe this might be relegated strictly to InDesign as a Photoshop file that was created from scratch, edited, and saved on the same hard drive next to the InDesign file opened perfectly.
I would love the opportunity to send you this file to see if you can open it on your system. I have a YouSendIt account if that works best.

  • How do I change the settings to automatically open a file?

I accidentally changed the settings so everytime I open an Excel spreadsheet, it saves automatically to my desktop. These are shared, so this is not beneficial. All I need is to open the file. Please let me know if there is a way to change this, as the only options are saving and prompting each time to save.

I think this uses the default PDF Maker setting, yes. What you should try
is to open Word and then go to the Acrobat tab in the ribbon. Then click on
Preferences and under the Settings tab un-tick the "View Adobe PDF result"
    check-box.

  • Acrobat Standard 9.0 automatically opens multiple files on startup

This problem was originally posted as "Acrobat Standard 9.1.2 update problem?"
In Vista Ultimate, I installed the Acrobat Standard 9.1.2 update, and afterward, my terminal began automatically opening multiple PDF files whenever Acrobat was started.  At one point, I let it run for several minutes, and got up to 33 opened files before I forced the program to shut down.
Although this problem was resolved by a program removal and reinstallation (restore previous version didn't work), it came back again, after I had worked on several PDF files since the reinstall.  Apparently, Acrobat feels compelled to open all of the PDF files I have worked on since the reinstallation, whenever it starts up.  In addition, it opens copies of all of these files when I open a Website PDF file. So I have two copies of the same filename open at the same time (usually impossible in Windows).  Since I removed v9.1.2 and reinstalled v9.0, the problem might not be connected to the 9.1.2 update I installed before it began; however, the 9.1.2 update might have made changes to the registry that the uninstall didn't correct.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED AUTOMATIC MULTIPLE FILE OPENINGS IN ACROBAT STANDARD 9.0 OR 9.1.2, AND IF SO, WHAT DID YOU DO ABOUT IT?  I'm desperate enough to seek technical advice from a random group of strangers.

I was having this problem on a Vista Ultimate machine after upgrading to Acrobat Pro 9.2, and solved it in the following way.
    1.  Exit Acrobat, open the task manager and be sure the acrobat.exe task is no longer running.
    2.  Open the directory C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0
    3.  Locate the file named Organizer90 and drag it to the desktop
    4.  Open Acrobat from the Start menu
Problem should be solved!  If not, exit Acrobat and drag the original Organizer90 file back to the original directory (replacing the newly created file).  I have no idea what the Organizer90 file does, so I don't know if you may be losing anything important using this method, but it did work for me in solving the "opening multiple files" problem.

  • How do I open .dll files automatically with Adobe Reader through Firefox?

    Hi,
When I print eBay labels through Firefox, a .dll file is downloaded. This used to open automatically in Adobe Reader, but now it opens as a text document in TextEdit, so I have to manually open Adobe Reader, change options to show "all files", and then locate the .dll file and open it.
When I try to change the default application in Firefox preferences, I can't find anything with the content type "dll".
Is there a way to have Firefox automatically open .dll files with Adobe Reader?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    Steve

    That worked, thank you!
I quit out of Firefox, renamed the file like you said, restarted my computer, and restarted Firefox.
When I went to download a label, Firefox asked me which application to use, and I picked Adobe Reader. I also checked the box to make that the default. This automatically opened the file in AR, and then when I did it the next time it worked perfectly.
Again, thank you so much for your help with this - although it's just a bit of time here and there saved it really adds up!
    Take care!
    -Steve

  • Is there way to have Numbers open excel files automatically

Is there way to have Numbers open excel files automatically when I click on my old excel files rather than opening numbers and then opening file?

Try this: from Finder, select an Excel file. Hit Apple-i to get the file info. You'll see a section labeled *Open with:* Use the dropdown to select Numbers and click the *Change All* button.

  • How do I get Lion to automatically open downloaded files?

I have Word 08 for Mac and I download Word documents and pdf files quite often. In Lion, the files download and then are almost impossible to find. I don't know where they go and often I don't know what the file was named because the hyperlinks used don't always show the file name. How can I set my system to automatically open files I download like it used to do before I got Lion?

I don't know where they go and often I don't know what the file was named
Allowing your browser to open "safe" files is dangerous.  That's how a bunch of people got in trouble during the MacDefender outbreak...  the OS considered an installer file safe, since opening one does not run any third-party code.  But many people mistook the automatic launch of an installer to be "official" and were fooled into following through and installing the malware.  (Whether the OS still considers such installers safe I don't know, but regardless, there is precedent for "safe" files being used maliciously.)
In addition, if you aren't keeping track of these files that get downloaded, that means that your Downloads folder is probably getting filled up with all kinds of strangely-named files, making it difficult to find things in there and providing a good hiding place for other malware like MacDefender.  If you don't know what's lurking in your Downloads folder, not only is that hazardous, but it takes up space on your hard drive with things you don't need anymore.  I highly recommend changing your browser to download to the desktop.  That way, you instantly see any files when they get downloaded, you can open them quickly and you know exactly what has been downloaded and will be more likely to delete it (or file it away) once you're done with it to prevent desktop clutter.
