Open links in email

I am unable to access the web with links shown in my emails. This is a fairly recent problem (within the last 10 days). Are you aware of any updates that may have changed my settings?

Hey Jscher2000 & law_,
<p>Links in <b>Incredimail</b> (personal client) work fine if a <b>different</b> default <b>browser</b> (i.e. Chrome or Idiot Explorer) is selected. Only an issue when <b>FF</b> is default browser. </p>
<p>Links in <b><i>Thunderbird</b></i> (work client) always work without issue. </p>
This is, therefore, most likely a Firefox issue. But Incredimail is a selfish client may switch to <i>OperaMail</i></p>

  • Open link from email now takes 60s after upgrade to 14.0.1

Firefox has been set as my default browser and so will open links from emails. In the past this happened pretty quickly providing I already had FF running. Now, after the 14.0.1 update, a new FF window opens (irritating but can live with that). Then there is a 60s wait before the page opens (a timeout somewhere?). It seems to be independent of the site visited (I checked with my own site among others as it is nice and simple). I also get the long delay if I ask the mailer to open the email in a browser (for messages containing HTML). The same sites open quickly if I simply type the URL on a run command line.
I'm running Windows XP sevice pack 3. My mailer is Pegasus 4.4.1 (admittedly a bit out of the mainstream!). Perhaps someone could suggest an additional test to narrow down and then hopefully solve the problem. I've had to make IE my default browser for now as I often use a browser for messages containing HTML.
    TIA

Thanks, but safe mode does not alter the behaviour and I've only ever had the default theme.
The delay really is pretty much exactly 60s. Surely this is something timing out. Is that not an important clue?

  • Unable to open links in email accounts on xoom after loading firefox moblie

I hav my email accounts on xoom homescreen when I read email from icon on screen not through browser and try to open link it will not work this started after i loaded firefox or firefox mobile can u help me....? firefox web browser is not open when this happens.

Are you getting a black screen? If that is the problem launch Firefox, then near the clock there will be a 4 arrow icon, click it and select "Stretch to fill screen" and restart the tablet. This will correct an issue with Android improperly suggesting Zoom to fill screen for Firefox.
Firefox will have tablet specific look in Firefox 9. It will be in the Android Market around Nov 10th as Firefox beta. https://ianbarlow.wordpress.com/2011/09/30/firefox-for-tablets-lands-in-aurora/

  • Run As Administrator Firefox will not open links in emails

When Firefox is opened with Run As Administrator links in emails will not open. Is this normal?
    Using W7 Firefox 23.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * Open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
What email service are you using?

This has never been a problem.
I have a Blackberry Curve 9330 Smart phone, any suggestions??????

    Hey,
Try a battery pull.  Things usually start working better after pulling the battery and rebooting.

  • Unable to open links in emails with FireFox and Outlook Express 07.

Seems to be a javascript error. When it is disabled, links will open. But other problems appear on browser.
    Have reset default programs.
Win IE will open links. [ctrl + click] will sometimes open a new window with link. Usually, only the browser window opens with no link showing.
If all defaults go to Windows IE, everything is ok.

Do you know how I can estabilsh how many apps are counting toward this 10 and what they are?

  • Trying to open link in email messages gives Attention:internal error

Trying to open a link in an email sent to me yields message: Attention: internal error. No other info is given. I successfully opened this link a few days ago more than once, but now all I get is the error message noted above. What to do?

Are you clicking the link on your webmail site (e.g., Hotmail, Yahoo! mail, Gmail) or in an external mail program (e.g. Windows Mail, Thunderbird)?
If you compare the URL of the link to the URL of the error page, are they the same?
If all the errors occur on the same site, try going to the top level of the site and...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try the links again. Any improvement?

  • Safari will not open link from email

When trying to open a link from an email in Postbox (3.0.11) Safari 8 (OS X 10.10) will open a new tab, but nothing else happens. The new tab remains blank and the address bar is blank. This occurs when Safari is set as the default browser.
When I set Chrome as my default browser, Chrome will open the same link without any issues.
Any ideas or is this an undocumented feature for the new Safari.
    Homer
    System: iMac 7,1 (late 2007)
    OS X 10.10
    Safari 8.0
    Postbox 3.0.11

Uninstall SIMBL as follows. Back up all data before making any changes.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return. A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
              Application Support/SIMBL
              InputManagers/SIMBL
              LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
              LaunchAgents/net.infinite-labs.SIMBLEnablerForSandboxedApps.plist
              ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

  • Can't open links from email

I'm using Firefox 29 on Win7x64. It's my default browser. Sometimes, when I try to open a web link from Outlook email or Yahoo email, the link does not open. Instead, Firefox opens a process every time that I click, but does not open the link or even a page. If I try to open another Firefox instance by clicking the shortcut, yet another process starts, but a page does not open. Safe mode does not help. The only resolution thus far is to close every process or reboot, and then re-install Firefox. This issue began in v29 or the one just before. I also have tried suggestions posted to the forum. Thanks!

I've tried this several times. It works for a while, but the issue recurs. Resting Firefox never is a good solution for any Firefox issue.

  • Can't open links in email. Displays "blocked content, can't open".

When opening any link in my email account, it will not open. All links open in other browsers but not Firefox. No attachments, links or anything else within the emails can be opened. The message says that it can't open anything up because of a "blocked" content.

If the images are blocked click on the link to view them, if you consider it safe.
I expect the rest of the message provides additional information, along with the url of the url your on when you see the message.
Content my be blocked because you have some parental controls software installed

  • Can't Open link in email

Got this error message when I tried to open a link in an email - "no associated application can be found." It used to function well previously =(

What happens if you log out and back in?
What happens if you safe boot?
Apparently this problem isn't unique to.  Here's four other threads on the same problem:
web links don't work from Mail
    links to browser don't work
Links in Mac Mail no longer work
    Suddenly, links aren't clickable

  • Cannot open links from email

I downloaded the new operating system to my iPad 4 and am having issues accessing links from my email, when I click on the link nothing happens. I noticed this problem yesterday

I appreciate all the help received and I have tried the suggestions and experimented further on my own as well.  Here is some additional information about the problem.
I could remove the SD from my phone and open the pictures just fine with my MacBook/Preview.  Furthermore, I noticed that the problem only happens when I mail my pics to my comcast.net email account.  If I mail the pics to my yahoo.com email, my MacBook has no problem opening up the pics with Preview.  Same success if I mail the pics to my GF email at io.com.  So, by process of elimination, the problem may be with the way comcast.net handles my pics as email attachments.
    I remain puzzled why.....

  • IPad wont open link in email

    http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r%18240769&msgidC1346&act%EF%BF%BDFP&c%1 95062&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.straightdope.com%2Fcolumns%2Fread%2F3046%2Fdo es-daylight-saving-time-increase-road-kill
    My MBP opens them fine.

This is only caused by the iPad email client. The URL's first serialized parameter is somehow corrupted, after the ... relay.php?r should be an equal sign and some numbers. Not sure if this is base on the length of the URL, but the email client is messing with the parameters.
