Open NAT. Xbox 360. WRT54GS2 V1

I'm trying to take off the strict nat restriction. Anyone know how to fix?

A known issue with Linksys routers is the NAT Type 3 or anything related to dropping of Internet connectivity during play time.  Network Address Translation (NAT) is the ability of a router or firewall to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa.  It adds security to the network by keeping the private IP addresses hidden from the outside world.
Gaming consoles such as Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3, and Wii™ often encounter NAT related issues resulting to poor gaming experience.  This problem is resolved by checking the settings on your router which contribute to NAT issues.
Here are the settings for resolving NAT type issues: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=22385&userrole=Links...

  • Opening NAT on 360 with WRT54GS

I've looked at all of the suggestions, opened ports, have the latest firmware, etc
    NAT still shows as moderate.
    Please help

I have two xbox 360's both with the USB wireless adapter from microsoft. I used to have a router that wouldn't let both connect to xbox live at the same time. In the process of trying to make the last router work with both xboxes, I manually set the IP addresses and DNS addresses to the 192.168.1.x subnet that the router is on.
Each xbox could connect to xbox live with OPEN NAT but not both at the same time. I found that uPnp was supposed to allow multiple xboxes over the same broadband connection. I found this router WRT54GS on the compatible list at xbox live, so I bought one.
I setup a new password, SSID, wep key and adjusted the DHCP address range. Other than that I didn't do squat to the router. It had firmware version 7.50.2.
The 1st XBOX showed as MODERATE NAT, when I tested XBOX live. I thought about it awhile and didn't want to do the port forwarding, triggering, or DMZ stuff--because all of that twiddling didn't help with the last router. I decided that maybe I needed to let the router give the IP addresses through DHCP and maybe then uPnp would work and the box would be OPEN NAT.
Well, it worked. I set both xboxes to automatic on IP address and DNS and then both tested with OPEN NAT. I was able to have both xboxes on different xbox live gold accounts play slayer matches at the same time on Halo 3 and was able to have them both connect via Xbox live into the same forge session.
I hope this helps and gives some clues to try.

  • Open NAT / Xbox One

I have Fios Quantum with a Actiontec MI424-WR router Rev. I, believe it is the most recent action tech, the router is black and red.
I can't get an Open NAT, it is set to strict. This is preventing me from joining Xbox Live parties and playing online with friends.
Can anyone assist me with how to get an open NAT?
    Thanks.

It is an issue with the router and not the xbox, I can tell you that.  Do you have to Xbox's connected by any chance?  That would make NAT not be open9 out of 10 times.  The only other options I can think of are.
-Enable UPnP (Disable DMZ & port forwarding)
    -Setting router firewall to Low
Here's a good guide on the Xbox forums: http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/xbox_360_support/f/9/p/1625236/4199656.aspx#ARMfirew...

  • Open NAT xbox live problems

Ok I am really getting tired of this. I jsut want my NAT to be open. Right now it is strict. My Lynksys router is a WRT110. I have tried multiple ways to get it to open. Can someone please give me a detailed guide? And if you NAT is open could you maybe show me pictures of yours if your NAT is open? I am willing to use teamviewer.
    Thank you for your time.

    Who is your ISP....?
If your ISP is DSL then, you have to convert the modem into the Bridge mode first. After converting the modem into the bridge mode, configure the router with PPPoE settings and open the required ports on the router.
If your ISP is not DSL then, try the following settings...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your XboxIP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • Opening NAT (Xbox)- Airport Express

Ok so I need some help here, Ive been trying to re-open my nat type on my xbox but I just cant get it. I have tried the solutions in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/8682893#8682893 but I either cant understand exactly what to do (the layout is a bit weird) or its just not working. I have tried to bridge my airport but that just disabled my internet entirely. Also, Im not too savy with Apple, I just dont get it. Im good with Windows so I may need noob friendly advice.

Very detailed instructions are provided in the article How do I use port mapping?

  • Xbox 360 support?

Is it possible to play music on my 360 through my iPhone? I've heard some people say they can do it and others can't.

Xbox says the mechanism for accessing music on iPod Touch and iPhone is different than that of iPod.
I resent the signs that I see in stores that say iPod=iPhone. My brand new Kenwood deck did the same thing but I had to switch to a data 500 cable and use it as an external disc changer to get it to work. It uses the different folders in my iPhone as discs in the deck.
I was very dissappointed this week when I opened my Xbox 360 this week. Of coure the first thing I wanted to do was plug up the iPhone and get some tunes. I think Apple and MS need to make this a top integrated compatibility priority. Both pieces of equipment have been released long enough to get patched. I think the CD deck realm needs to get looked into also. There are obviously the same problems (iPhone related) in that field.
For now, I am using my Xbox 360 to access the music stored on my laptop wirelessly through Windows Media Player. It was a little trying to set up b/c my network is a mess, but under normal circumstances it would be very easy to do. Xbox 360 does most of the work. Still, I'd love to just get it right off my iPhone as I charge it and play a game.

  • XBox 360 Gamepad

I installed Snow Leopard today, but after installation, my MadCatz XBox360 game pad no longer works. I never had this problem before! I tried reinstalling the driver, but I get a message that says "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail." I unplugged the pad, then plugged it back in; the power light in the middle of the pad flashed on, but then flicked off. The system profiler lists a "MadCatz GamePad" under "Keyboard Hub," but the details below say that it has not been configured. Is there any way to get Snow Leopard to recognize this game pad, or do I have to go back to regular Leopard if I want to use it? Snow Leopard is not a necessity, so I won't cry if I don't have it on my Mac.
Thanks for any and all help!!!!!

    0. Disconect all Xbox 360 controllers and receivers.
    1. Copy and paste this into TextEdit and save as 360ControllerInstall.sh in the Desktop.
    2. Open Terminal.app
    3. In the Terminal, type
    cd Desktop (press return)
    sudo sh 360ControllerInstall.sh (press return)
    4. It will now ask you for an administrator password. Type it and press return.
    5. The installer will run. Wait at least three minutes after it completes.
    6. Connect a wired controller or a wireless one via the receiver.
    7. Open the "Xbox 360 Controllers" preference pane in System Preferences and verify that the controller(s) is(/are) recognized.
If the controllers are not recognized, wait a little longer and try again. If it doesn't work after that, try rebooting.
Mac OS X may occasionally complain that the kernel extension is incompatible. Ignore this, as it should work properly.
If it doesn't work at all, post the 360ControllerDiag.txt that the installer generates as well as the Terminal output.
UPDATE: If you don't want to go through this setup, it appears that the developer will be updating the drivers to officially support Snow Leopard.

If you've e-mailed I'll try to reply, but I've had lots. I'll get a Snow Leopard-compatible version of the driver released just as soon as I've managed to install it (hampered due to lack of disk space).

  • Can't get 2 XBOX 360's to open NAT on new E1000

I'm at my wits end and about to take this back. I had a Linksys WRT54GS that worked PERFECTLY with 2 360's, but even after using my old settings, using portforward.com's settings, and trying something I saw someone recommend here for someone having the same problem with an e3000, I simply cannot get both of them to open NAT. Can someone help?

I'm having the same problem also.  I have both Xboxs on static IPs and I put one on port forwarding and the other on DMZ but it doesn't seem to make any differences.  It's getting me frustrated because I've tried everything and it seems to work sometimes so I backup the configurations, but the next day it goes back to strict.
I use to have a WRT54G v8 and it would work flawlessly, but this new E1000 model is giving me many problems.

  • Linksys e2000 router Open NAT troubleshooting multiple xbox 360's

    Hello,
I've been searching for about 4 hours now how to fix my NAT problems. I thought it had it working on one xbox in my bedroom, as it said OPEN NAT. But, when I looked at my Xbox in the living room, it said MODERATE NAT. How can I get these both to say OPEN NAT? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

If you're attempting to game with multiple 360s, port triggering would be your best option.
You might succeed in getting open NAT on both but the issue would be if you'd be able to play the same game on both consoles simultaenously. Since both consoles will use the same Internet port, the game packets will only be sent to one local IP address. Some games support this and some don't so if you're unable to get open NAT on both game consoles, call your ISP and request for another IP address. That should solve everything.

  • Open NAT Type for three xbox 360s on E3000?

I have three xbox 360s (mine plus my son and my daughter)...I have my settings set to where when myself and my son are on our 360s our NAT type is open...but as soon as my daughter gets on hers the whole thing goes to strict....

    Just a question though:
Are you experiencing this when you are playing the same game in the same network with your son and daughter?  what are the settings of the other router?
    have you tried these steps?

  • WRT160N V2 - Connecting TWO Xbox 360's with OPEN NAT...a nightmare. :(

Need to run two Xbox 360's on a WRT160N V2 both with open NAT.
    This must be possible...somehow.
I've tried a few times through the linksys support chat (which seems to be gone now?) to get this working properly but always fails. I've got my http://192.168.1.1/ open, so please if anyone knows how this works that'd be just awesome.
Both 360's are connected via wire. We want to be able to play the same games at the same time in the same party while both having an open NAT. Right now only one of us can have an open NAT while the other has a Moderate or Strict. We have plenty of speed, but that stupid NAT makes it nearly impossible for us to connect to games together. Then even when we DO connect to a server/lobby it takes forever for that lobby to fill up with other players as they can't connect to US. Painfully annoying.
I DID do a search of this very forum and found a thread or two, but they are very long and I am having a hard time filtering what is correct or not. Too many people saying different things with no reponses as to whether or not their solution worked. I'm still reading through them, I'm not a technician in any sense and don't want to mess it up more than it already seems to be. I am capable of reading/following instructions, so if anyone knows I'll give you all my "One Free Internet" coupons.

You can try this link and it will help you in setting up your XBOX with your Router. And for your 2nd XBOX Enable DMZ and assign a Static IP to your XBOX.

  • Having issues with 2 xbox 360 slims connected with an Open NAT

I have 2 of the newer xboxes connected via an actiontec MI424-WR Rev. E and I'm having issues getting an Open NAT on either. 1 is connected via Ethernet and 1 is connected wirelessly. My router is also connected to my computer. I havetried portforwarding and using a dmz host on 1 resulting in 1 360 having an open NAT(wireless one) and the wired one having a moderate NAT. Anyway I could get them to work together without asking Verizon to send me a new router or buying a new one. Please help.

I am having this issue also.  I think the UnPNP is broken on the ActionTec.  I may be getting rid of FiOS for this reason.  I had 3 Xboxes working from my DSL connection and LINKSYS router no trouble.  Very disappointed !   I was hoping to get a poll going so I posted my similar issue.

Ok, I really need help. I am trying to open my NAT for my Xbox 360. I recently contacted Xbox Support and they gave Port numbers and told me to contact linksys to help set the numbers up on my router. Please, someone help me fix this without giving Linksys 30 dollars. I have the Port Numbers, all I need to know is how to put those numbers on my router. Please someone help!

This "open NAT" is a relatively new thing not supported by the dual Ethernet AirPort base station (ABS).
How have you tried to map/forward/open a port?

I recently got a new modem DSL modem so I had to re start my wireless Linksys router settings to factory default. I use AT&T DSL.
I got my network all set up again and can connect to Xbox Live fine. My desktop has the DSL modem and router plugged into it. Thats in another room. Im in my room on my laptop, with my Xbox 360 next to me. I used to plug the ethernet cable from the 360 to my laptop, and I could get online fine.
But once I connected today, it said my NAT was set to Strict.
How can I set my NAT to open, or even Moderate. Because as of right now, I cant really join ANY games online at all. (I tried with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2)

As you have DSL modem, you need to convert the modem into the bridge mode to make your X-Box working.
