Open New Tab Question

Recently when I click the Open New Tab button the page has some of my Bookmarked sites shown, nothing but a blank rectangle and the name of the link.
Not sure why this started happening or how to fix it

  • Why can't I open new tabs. I can only have one tab at a time for when I hit the + button nothing happens

Since the last update (about a month or two ago) I have been unable open new tabs unless I find a webpage that takes me to a new link and therefore opens a new tab. It is highly annoying as I need to open multiple pages at once.

Uninstall the '''''Ask Toolbar'''''. It can cause that problem.

  • I have 9.0.1 on 2 pc's, both xp sp3. On 1 the 'open new tab' button is visible, on the other, the 'open new tab' button is not even available in the 'customize toolbar' menu for dragging and dropping. Why?

I used the same installation file, but on 1 pc, the 'open new tab' button is available in the 'customize toolbar' menu and can be dragged and dropped onto the navigation bar. On the other pc, the 'open new tab' button/icon is not even available for dragging and dropping. I uninstalled firefox completely, including settings and preferences, then reinstalled, but that did not correct the missing button.

    Hi,
Please try '''Restore Default Set''' in the '''Customize...''' window. If it's still not visible, one reason could be that the button is already placed on the toolbar but may be hidden behind another icon or toolbar.

  • My Firefox can no longer open new tabs. I click the icon but it does not work. How can I fix this?

The "+" icon that opens new tabs does not open a tab.

With Firefox version 4 and 5, the default setting is ''not'' to ask the question for saving the session. You can get back that behavior by modifying the options as below:<BR><BR>
    # In the address bar, type '''about:config''' and press Enter.
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of options.
    # In the '''Filter''' textbox at the top, type '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose'''
    # You will be presented with the entry for '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose'''. If its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''.
    # Repeat these steps for options''' browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning''' and set their values to '''true'''.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.
I have read through endless FAQ trying to find anyone else who has this question or concern but have found nothing. Can you please tell me how that service will get along with LastPass which does basically the same thing as Synch-it is probably spelled wrong as it looks wrong to me but if I click back to where this issue began, I will lose all of this question so please respond for the upcoming service synch.

    Hello,
    ''jstavene wrote:''
can find nothing under the tools menu for private browsing?
Then it's not the same issue.
If Firefox is set to '''Never remember history''', then you're in “permanent private browsing” mode, in which case the menu item ''Stop Private Browsing'' will be grayed out. Perhaps that's the case, and you don't find the menu item easy to see?
    * [[Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track]]
If that's not the case, then menu items can be hidden using the userChrome.css file. Check if it exists, and if it's there, rename it, then restart Firefox.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css
In Firefox Nightly (what will become Firefox 20), per-window private browsing has been added, so the menu item under the Tools menu is gone. It's been replaced by New Private Window under the File menu. I don't suppose it's very likely that you're using such a cutting-edge test version of Firefox though.
If that doesn't solve the problem, since it's a different issue, it would be best if you would ask a new question.

  • Keyboard shortcut to open new Tab in Terminal.app

    Hi,
I'm looking for a way to open new tabs with keyboard shortcuts in Terminal.app
Opening the default profile is not a problem (command-T), but how can I get to the non-default profiles? Assigning keyboard shortcuts in the System Preferences doesn't seem to work.
Maybe something like a Quicksilver Trigger? Applescript? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
