Open PDF in two up view mode

Hi
I have a pdf that has a lot of information over two page spreads. I want to have links in my web site that open the pdf at specific pages.
Is there any way to link to the first page in the two page spread and have the pdf open in two up mode so both pages are displayed?
I know it can be done manually through the view menu but ideally looking for an automated solution.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Bernd
Thanks for your quick response :o)
Could you provide some more information on how this is done as I do not have Acrobat and would need to pass this to the designer who compiled it?
Many Thanks
Mike

    Hi AsifMuhammad,
    Thanks for your help.
    - Is the issue with all the user (different machines).
    >> Yes, tested on different user and different machines.
    >> If using Acrobat Reader 8 or 9 will have the problem, while uninstall Acrobat Reader 8 or 9, then install Acrobat Reader 10 or 11 the problem fixed (Open pdf via IE is normal)
    >> All are Opening the same "View Output" of the same already run Concurrent Program ID.

Of course, you may said possible solution maybe Install Acrobat Reader 10 or 11 for those user.
But it need furthur testing for our internal programs.
And I've checked, according Oracle's Document, R12 should support Acrobat Reader 5 or up.
Which lead me think, there should be missed some setting.
But I cannot find any related setting on this point.

  • Opening PDF docs in 75% view

I'm trying to figure out how to use Acrobat.com to create a PDF document that opens in a 75% "view." Right now, when I create an PDF and email it as an attachment, the document opens in 177% view...which is not very please to the eye. Thanks.

I don't believe there is a way to change this unless you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat. Rather than sending it as an attachment, have you tried using Acrobat.com's share feature? You could also email a link to an open access version...

  • Movie that will automatically open in "fit to screen" view mode?

I'm wondering if it's possible to save a video in quicktime pro that will, when opened in any normal version of quicktime, automatically open in the "fit to screen" view option. In the visual settings tab of the movie properties, there is an option to automatically open into full screen, but this isn't what I want - I want it to open in the normal (non-fullscreen) quicktime window, but to automatically resize to fit the screen size of the computer it's being viewed on.
I'm pretty sure that there isn't any easy way to do this, but it's pretty important, so if it requires some scripting or something, that's fine - i'm not a programmer, but i'm willing to do whatever i need to, to make this work.
    Thanks!

The "Presentation" option is a bit confusing as there are "user" settings that each viewer could have set (double size, Fit To Screen, etc) in the QuickTime preferences and all of them will play with the "on screen" controls feature of version 7. So "full screen" is different because of the dozens of display settings that may be used and the same for "fit to screen".
If you set the file dimensions too large for a small display setting the viewer will not be able to use the QuickTime controller (it could be "off screen).
I just checked all my AppleScripts and Automator actions and none include "fit to screen" options. No luck there.
If you set the movie dimensions (Visual Settings) to the "fit screen" size this would work on your display but maybe not on mine. To do that just open the Movie Info window with your file set to fit screen dimensions, note the size and adjust the file dimensions to those new values and "Save As".
Easiest method for your workflow would be to send instructions for viewing to the end users.
Keyboard shortcuts for QuickTime file display:
    Command-0 (zero) = half size
    Command-1 = normal size
    Command-2 = double size
    Command-3 = fit to screen
Command-F = full screen (presentation mode)

  • How can I display a PDF in Fit-Page View mode in Firefox?

I would like to use Firefox to view PDF documents from the web - but cannot get the PDF fit-page view to be a Firefox option. For large PDF files, I then have to scroll slowly through them - whereas in Adobe Reader, I can view them page by page and scan through it much quicker.

If you just purchased Acrobat 10, you might be eligible for a free upgrade to Acrobat 11, which is suppposed to have much improved export to PPT.

  • How to open PDF file with the view I wish without many clicks

I am getting many many scanned files daily and I'd like to able to skim thru each file as fast as possible.
Since the way each file scanned is consistent, when I open it, I am clicking a button to rotate it counterclock, then click zoom-in a few times to be able to read the top portion to see if the file is of my interest.
Can we customize the way the files are opened?  I wish that once I open it, it will be rotated (so that I don't have to tilt head to read it), and zoom in big enough for me to read it.
I did try (I am new to this) "accessabitly settup assistant", but couldn't achieve my desired effect.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks.
    JQ

Thank you for the suggestions. Appreciated it.
Actually when I asked whether they could scan it differently, I was told "no" for that type of scanner they have, and they have been reading it the same way as I just start to do, for years.
Maybe someone knows about what scanners have the feature to do these tricks?
I tried the preference setting. It's still less manageable. However, I manage to be able to click 3 buttons to get to the top portion to be readable.
First, I rotate it counterclock (which mess up the view zoom in setting preference).
    Then I click to "show one page" button;
Then I clcik to make the document to fill the width. (at this point, the zoom in is about 79%).

  • Open pdf files in read-only mode

    Hi all,
I want to open a file and I want to have option rewrite the file while it's open in the Reader.
Is there any way how to open the file in the read-only mode and even from cmd in Windows?
    Thanks in advance.

You can set security in the file to dissallow changesby going to File>Properties>Security in Acrobat. But you can't change anything with Reader.

  • Creating a .pdf with different page views

I'm tyring to create a .pdf with different page views.  For example as the viewer goes through the .pdf some pages I would like viewed as "single page view" and others "two page view".  Is this possible?   I'm working with Adobe Acrobate Pro.  Thanks for any suggestions.

It's possible to use the Page Open actions to trigger a view mode change but it's messy - if the user tries to override them because they prefer to zoom in, etc. then they'll get very annoyed when things keep resetting.
To create a Page Open action, open the thumbnails panel, right-click on a page, choose Page Properties, then the Actions tab. You can use the Execute a Menu Item tool to fire one of the view modes.

  • Single page view mode in Acrobat Reader on android

Is there a way for a pdf to dictate the view mode used in Acrobat Reader on a smart phone? By default I believe  it is set to continuous however I would like it to automatically change to single page when my pdf is opened.

    Mark -
    You are correct.
In Acrobat Reader on my PC, I'm highlighting text and then adding a sticky-note comment to it.
So, if I just insert a sticky note comment without highlighting the associated text in the document, I can see the sticky note when I view the document on my android device - - just tested this and it works!
OK - I can live with that, but it would be good if the combination of highlighting AND sticky notes were visible when viewin the document in Android - the highlightimg feature makes it clearer to what piece of text the sticky bote relates to. Hope it can be incorporated in a furure release.
Thanks for clarifying the situation for me.

  • Make Safari open PDF in preview automatically, by default

Is there any way I can make Safari open (download + view) PDF links in Preview?
I know that Safari opens PDFs in its own viewer, and then I can use the semi-opaque 4-button toolbar at the bottom of the window (when the toolbar is visible) to Open PDF in Preview, but that's a fair bit of extra work from a UI perspective.
I click the link to the PDF, and the PDF opens in a new Safari window.
I move the mouse to the bottom of the page, wait for the gray toolbar to appear, then click the Open PDF in Preview.
(This is assuming the toolbar shows itself, which for some reason it has stopped doing on some PDFs.)
Now I've got a Preview window with my document, plus the useless Safari PDF view, plus my original webpage.
    It's tedious and cumbersome.
Yes I know I could option-click the PDF link to automatically download the file, but that doesn't automatically open the file after it is downloaded.  Either way I have to mess around to open the file as I'd like to.

Right-click on the PDF document; select Get Info from the pop-up menu; in the lower half is a section labeled Open With. Select Preview from the choices listed, then click Change All... to make Preview the default appp for PDF documents.

  • Cannot open pdf files with Firefox's built-in pdf viewer

This just started (I think) with Firefox 37.01. This is on Win7-X64. I cannot open pdf files with the Firefox built-in pdf viewer. If I click on the file or try to open it from within Firefox, it brings up a "opening filename.pdf" message. If I select the "Open with" radio button as 'Firefox (default),' it just keeps looping on this process; it never opens. In Tools => Options => Applications, Portable Document Format (PDF) is indicated as 'Preview in Firefox.' I've never had any other PDF viewer installed on this computer. I've tried disabling all plug-ins and extensions, but it still doesn't work. I searched for solutions but haven't found any for this specific issue.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello,
Have you tried, to start Firefox in safemode you can do so by following these steps
'''If Firefox is open,''' you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    * Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
'''If Firefox is not running,''' you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • TA21328 Safari will not display or open PDF files. Unable to view imovies

I resently had a new hard drive installed by the Apple store and they installed Snow Lepard which was my provious OS. I did restore all my files using My Passport Studio and everything what fine except for two things.  I cannot open PDF files through Safari and I am not able to view any of my imovies.

If you have them, you might want to delete either or both of the below mentioned files from the following location “/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/” and install Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat again. Reader and Acrobat have preference items for whether to use them to manage PDFs in Safari.
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
Do you have some iMovie project files in iMovie Events and iMovie Projects in your Home folder's Movies folder? Those might be where your "imovies" are. If you did have some, but don't now, then they may be the items you need to restore from a backup. Other than that, I'm not sure what you mean by "imovies", so can you include the steps you take to view "imovies" in a reply, please? Thanks.

  • Links in PDF from View Mode Not Working

Ok, bear with me as I'm not totally familiar with Robohelp.
I have a PDF file, lets call it (PDF1).  Inside PDF1 is a flowchart with a link to another PDF (PDF2) file.
When I open PDF1 outside of RoboHelp, the link to PDF2 works.
When I open PDF1 from the view mode (sunglasses), the link to PDF2 doesn't work.  It doesn't do anything at all.  I click on the link and nothing happens.
I have ensured that the link within PDF1 is correct and pointing to the right file, and like I said, it works when viewed external of Robohelp.
Does anyone know how to fix this or what the problem could be?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Welcome to our community
I'm not sure I fully comprehend the issue. You are previewing. This will impose some limitations and really is only there to approximate the end user experience.
You say that if you open things outside of RoboHelp the links work fine. And this is really how the end user will be using things, no? So if it works fine in this mode I'm not understanding why there is an issue.
Out of curiosity, why PDF? You are hopefully aware that one might supply PDF only for the purposes of printing, right? Otherwise, if your end user will be expecting to click links or whatever, you should be outputting a help format. (CHM, WebHelp, FlashHelp, AIR Help, etc)
    Cheers... Rick

  • In quick view mode, why can't I enlarge pdf files like it used to?

When I use quick view mode by pressing space bar when I have selected a file, say pdf files, I could used  to stretch the corners to get the page larger. But now, in Lion, it doesn't behave like that anymore. The page stays the same size however wide I stretch the quick view window. Is there an option to fixing this? Or is this intended? It is very bad indeed!
