Open PhotofunStudio in CS4

I have recently purchased a Lumix compact digital camera which came supplied with PhotofunStudio software to edit/process the images. I would prefer to do that in CS4. I cannot open the images in CS4. Can anyone please give me directions as to how I can achieve that.

Have you checked for updated drivers from nVidia?  Not that they're particularly good about supporting old cards, but it's worth a check.
Assuming you do buy a new card, you'll get a kick out of how much faster the new ones are - and they're not really very expensive!
In 7 years graphics cards have literally gotten 10 to 100 times faster.  No kidding.  Your card measures 147 at the PassMark site.  A good card for Photoshop measures 500 or more, and the top of the line are now measuring in the vicinity of 3500.
Personally I'm fond of ATI (AMD) graphics cards, as on my main workstation I have an ATI 4670 that's been super reliable and fast with Photoshop and everything else.  I believe their current model in that line is the 5670.
Look for a card with 1 GB or more of high speed video memory.

  • My Fonts change when opening an InDesign CS4 file with InDesign CS6

I've been experiencing strange behaviour when opening a InDesign CS4 file file with InDesign CS6: the kerning and spacing is all off:
    Original file:
    opened in InDesign CS6:
Is this a conversion error? Is there a setting/pref I've got wrong?

It's more than a year ago since this issue was reported, but at this time I'd had the same problem when opening a CS4 document in CS6/CC.
I was amazed that a header, placed in capitals, looked different in CS6/CC. But at last, after several tests, i've came to the conclusion that "forced" capitals behaving different than "real" capitals. In others words: when you forcing text to capitals the kerning would be different in CS6/CC. When you place text in real capitals (Shift + text) the kerning is the same as in both InDesign versions.
    Text in CS4:
As you can see: in CS4 there's no difference between real capitals en forced capitals.
Below the results when opening the CS4 file in CS6/CC:
I'm not sure if there are still people struggling with this problem, but hopefully was is this helpful.

  • Cs1 drawings don't open properly in cs4?

Drawings I made in cs1 won't open properly in cs4? I just get a message which says the program can't read this illustration and then I have only parts of the image. They still work in cs1 normally. The problematic parts of the image had a gaussian blur and transparency, but even when I delete these effects still I can't open them in cs4. Any ideas anybody?

That's a very good thought about the spot color libraries they have been updated by at least Pantone.
Did you try to place the file in a new empty ai document sometimes placing strips the fie of unnecessary codeit seems.
If that doesn't work try placing or opening in Photoshop saving it as a psd (if the layers survive and placing or opening that in Illustrator.
Or save it as .ps or rather print it as a .ps file from AI CS2 and opening that in AI CS 4 , you might have to distill it first. The postscript will look right but you will not be happy with the result.

  • Opening projects in CS4 from earlier versions of Premiere

I have various projects in Premiere 2.0. They work fine.
I tried opening one in Premiere CS4. It mostly works, but I found a small hickup where a transition (cross disolve) is quite messed up. Otherwise, it seems the project is playing the same in CS4.
My question is: how accurate is it to open projects in CS4 from an earlier version? I don't really want to have to go through every second of every project to make sure it works properly, yet I would like to upgrade to CS4.
What's the normal protocol for this? I'm sure people deal with having to open projects from earlier version of Premiere all the time.

    Harm,
Thanks for your answer -- it's helpful. I will follow your advice.
What blows my mind is what the legions of editors out there do when they have to old up an old project? This must happen all the time!
Do editors have to maintain two machines -- one with the old version of Premiere to open up their old project, and another machine to work on new projects? Oh, I guess they need one machine for each version they've ever created a Premiere project in. That's like 5 machines.
Seriously, what to people do when they have to open up an old project for whatever reason? It's seems like if you open it up in the latest version of Premiere, you would have to go through every second of the project very carefully to make sure there are errors introduced -- way time consuming.

  • To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

I have updated my system to Yosemite and when I try to open Adobe CS$ i get this message. To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.  I have followed the links and installed Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
When I again try to open CS4 I get the  same message To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
    Can anyone assist please?
    Thanks Colin

you may need to uninstall CS then reboot, try to see if it allows you to update your JAVA
    APPLE'S JAVA
    Java for OS X 2014-001
    SUN MICROSYSTEMS JAVA
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml
    then reinstall CS4
I ran into something similar with CS6 where it needed to come off and go back on
technically CS4 is not supported by Adobe and reported to be problematic with Yosemite.

  • Photoshop CS3 allows me to enable Open GL but CS4 does not Brand new MacPro with ATI 4870 card

    Hi,
I just bought a brand new 8 core Mac Pro and have both the ATI 4870 graphics card and the Nvidia GT 120 card. Pshop CS3 allows me to "enable openGL" in the prefs and utiizes it when doing 3d stuff... however, CS4 has it dimmed in the prefs, thereby not allowing me to check it (it is dimmed and unchecked I should say) and when I do 3d stuff a dialog box saying
"Your video card does not meet the requirements for hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. All 3D will be rendered with software only."
    any thoughts?
    thanks in advance.

yeah, short term test deems keeping both cards in.
So, here are the results: Notes: I have 2 monitors, an Apple 30" and Apple 23". The 30" can only be used in the dual link dvi port and NOT the Mini Display port. Second: The ATI 4870 seems to have an issue with the Mini Display port, it does not work, alone or in tandem with the dual link dvi port being used. Apple is replacing the card (heretofore, I had no cause to use the Mini Display port on the 4870 at all) Third: Only Photoshop CS4 extended was used to see if the card was detected and if it had enabled Open GL
ATI 4870 - dual link used, Mini Display NOT used: Photoshop sees the card and enables Open GL
ATI 4870 - dual link used, MIni Display used: didn't test because Mini Display port did not work.
ATI 4870 - dual link NOT used, Mini Display used: didn't test because Mini Display port did not work
Nvidia GT120 - dual link used, Mini Display NOT used: Photoshop sees the card and enables Open GL
Nvidia GT120 - dual link used, Mini Display used: Photoshop does not see the card and thus Open GL is NOT enabled.
Nvidia GT120 - dual link NOT used, Mini Display used: Photoshop does see the card and Open GL is enabled

  • QT HDV file not opening in PPRO CS4 or QT 7 Windows

Hello.  I've been given some Quicktime files that were shot in HDV, then captured into Final Cut Pro on a Mac, then exported to a .MOV file.  I can open the file in Quicktime 7 for Windows but I can only hear the audio.  I get white for video.  I've tried importing the same file into Premeire Pro CS4, but it tells me I'm missing a codec.  Any ideas what codec I might be missing to view this file properly?

At least through QT Pro 7.5.5, the keystroke was Ctrl+J (same as Dupe Layer in PS). I have been told that this is only available in QT Pro, but cannot verify, as all copies of QT on my computers are Pro. Have not had a regular installation for years. If you have other experiences, please let me know, especially if QT "Regular" can reveal Properties, and if the keystroke command is different.
    Bill,
Yes, you are correct when referring to the "Show Movie Properties" option, which is a "Pro" only feature. Witness:
The "Movie Inspector" is a more limited view of a file's properties, and doesn't allow you to modify anything, unlike the "Movie Properties" option, but will at least give you a quick overview of the format, frame rate, frame size and other properties:
It's good enough for at least discovering the nature of a QT movie.

  • Problem Opening Composition in CS4 on Windows 7 (Worked in Vista) 32-Bit

    Hello,
Merry Christmas! Hope everyone is having a better one than I am at the present time!
At little background information on what I have and what is happening.
My machine is a custom built machine with an ASUS P5KC Motherboard, Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, and 4.00GB DDR3 RAM, with a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX.
Yesterday when I was working on this video, I had Windows Vista Home 32-bit installed. All fonts, footage, plug-ins, etc were there, working fine. The project had multiple compositions with quite a bit of 3D elements.
Somehow that machine got infected with a wicked little trojan; cleaned it enough to get my files off of there and make a backup.
I then installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, re-installed After Effects CS4, copied all of the Video Copilot Evolution footage, and Pro Scores, Designer Sound Effects, and Action Movies Essentials to the machine; installed the fonts and plugins again.
I then attempted to start After Effects and open the project; all was good -- it recognized that there was 53 items that were not found (unlinked footage). However, once it loaded and it started to load the last composition that I had open (which just so happened to be the fairly large one with 3D elements), it would simply freeze and become "not responding".
I tried this various times; no luck.
I then started a new project, and "drug" the existing project to the new one. This allowed me to open the project without it opening the previous composition. I was then able to re-link all footage and sounds. I then was able to open the other compositions, but the moment I tried to open the composition that I tried earlier, it froze again.
So then I thought, well maybe I can just render it, or make it a proxy, etc.
Both failed. Even when I add to render queue, as soon as it adds it, before I even click start rendering it will freeze.
I thought maybe this was a memory issue; I did some tricks to allow After Effects to use all of the memory, and all cores of the procesor, verify OpenGL state, and allow it to use 80% of the physical RAM on the video card -- still no luck.
I tried cleaning the project, and purging memory; no luck.
I can post the AEP project file for anyone who is willing to help.
Perhaps installing a 64-bit version of Windows 7 would help, but I don't understand what this issue is steamed from.
    Thanks,
    Travis

    Situation Update:
Installed Windows 7 Professional x64 Bit, Adobe After Effects CS4.  No improvement, still same issues.  I then installed the 9.0.2 patch, and tried again -- same result, negative.
    Response to Mylenium:
Thanks for the advice.  It appears as if all devices have the latest drivers on my computer, and are running as they should.  Not sure too much to check on After Effects, but it says everything is "Supported" in the OpenGL dialog on AE CS4.
Also, I'm able to render the main compsotion (which contains other comps in the beginning, and then middle way it has the problematic composition in the timeline) up until the point where the first frame of the problematic composition is.
I beleive it will aid in your assistance to me by seeing the actual project; please see the attachment.
Project number 2 is the initial project, where the "last thing opened" was the problematic composition.  Project number 3 is the "new project" with the old project added.
You will see what I'm explaining once you take a look.
    Additionaly Regarding QuickTime
I just recently downloaded the latest version of QuickTime Player (QuickTime Player 7, Version 7.6.5).  It has installed, and I'm able to play MOV files that I have used in the composition.  I'm unsure as to additional options to check within QuickTime.
    Thanks,
    Travis

  • Canon CR2 Raw files won't open in Photoshop CS4

I'm using a Canon EOS 600D (aka EOS Kiss X5), Photoshop CS4 (ver 11.0.1) with Camera Raw 5.7.0.213.
CR2 Raw files won't open in Photoshop, though the thumbnails are clearly visible and open in Windows Explorer.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Yes, absolutely all of the quality and dynamic range is retained in the DNG, because it is still raw data.
Outside of upgrading to Photoshop CS5, which can open your files directly with Camera Raw 6.4.1, your only choice is the extra step of converting the .CR2 files to .DNG with the free DNG converter.
While you'll get all the quality your Camera Raw 5.x converter can deliver, you should keep in mind the Camera Raw 6.x converter has an entirely new, additional "2010 process" for converting raw images, which (depending on your settings) can actually deliver a higher quality conversion than the one you're getting with Photoshop CS4.  I think it's worth the cost of the Photoshop upgrade, personally.
