Open Photoshop CS3

Can’t someone help me???  I produce a News Letter for the ship group I was on in World War II (USS Samuel N. Moore DD-747) and need this program.  All of the files have been down loaded but what is needed, is how to open the program?
I had to replace my Photoshop CS3 because I crashed my hard drive, so I logged on  and went to my old orders and found my order from July 2008.
It had my correct serial number, so I down loaded it.  Now when I try to open the program I just get the file where it is located.  I have went to the chat program and they transferred me to the technical chat and they referred me to this program.

What exactly did you download? A proper installer or a disc image? In the first case all you should need to do is run the .exe file and let it run its course. In the second case you would need eitehr a tool that can mount the ISO/ UDF file as a virtual disc drive liek Daemon Tools or conversely an packaging tool that can read the virtual file structure like WinRAR. Also what system are you on? this could simply be a blockage due to UAC or otehr security stuff on Win 7/ Win 8.

  • Opening Photoshop CS3 psd files in Photoshop CS2 (Mac Tiger 10.411)

Is it possible to open Photoshop CS3 psd files in Photoshop CS2? After I created them in Photoshop CS3 I reset the preferences to maximize compatibility "always", then I resaved all the psd files. Do you think this will work? I have to open them in CS2 tomorrow at work...

Also, some old features may have changed in the new version. Specifically, I had some CS3 files from a client that had smart objects that did not open correctly in CS2.
As I recall, CS2 was able to open a flattened version of the file, just not fully layered with smart objects.
I actually had CS3 on my laptop, just not on the tower I wanted to work on, so I opened the files on the laptop, rasterized the smart objects, and saved. After this, CS2 opened the files with layers.

  • HELP!! When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges".

When I open Photoshop CS3 it states "Could not initialize Photoshop because you do not have the necessary access privileges".
Also, InDesign crashes when trying to open it.
    I am running OS X 10.6.8
The most recent task I did was a Mac OS snow leopard software update.
I created a new user account and both Photoshop and InDesign work perfectly when logged into that account, but the problem is persisting with my old account.
I tried, but didn't receive much help from Adobe.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I see. Well, if it works on a new account, then I guess that' good enough. You might still wanan try and fix your permissions on zthe otehr account, though. It may just require digging into the terminal and commandline operations to recursively apply this stuff to all folders and sub-folders...

  • Cannot Open Photoshop CS3

I recently got a new computer. We uninstalled CS3 on the old one, installed it on the new one. All systems were a go until earlier this week. I can no longer open Photoshop. It gives me 'Photoshop has stopped working' error message as it gets to the 'Building Twain Menus' portion as it opens. We have un-installed PSD, installed it again, nothing. We just un-installed the entire Creative Suite and still nothing. We've tried the graphics suggestion as we are running on Windows 7 and I actually got an error message after going through the driver update. Am I missing something? Is there anything else I should be/could be doing to get PSD to run again? I have used these forums before and I would like to ask that whom ever responds, gives me step-by-step instruction if possible. I'm tech savy, but need to have step-by-step instructions. I appreciate any information. My business depends on me using Photoshop.

I have looked in my programs/features folder in the Control Panel and I do not see a TWAIN listed there. Should I be looking somewhere else? I did a search using *.TWAIN and nothing has come up. Perplexed...The printer we have is not connected to my computer, my husband can't figure out how to get it to work on my laptop wireless yet.

  • C++ runtime error opening Photoshop CS3

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?  We have re-imaged our school district computers with XP SP3 and IE7, and now on Creative Suite CS3, only Photoshop will not open as a student. It opens only as administrator and students get the runtime error. All other apps in the Suite work fine. They worked with the same install job before the updates, and reverting back is not an option. I have two high schools with site licenses and have to get this working by September.
    Thanks!

Yes, it is installed on each pc.  I create a scripted install that we push
using Altiris deployment. There is a desktop icon, but run as admin isn't
an option on the shortcut. Additionally, if it was, I don't know how I
would make it carry to all users that log on.  The re-image is essentially
just updates to Windows - SP3 and IE7 specifically, and updates to flash,
shock, adobe reader, etc.  We did see some issues when we 1st let IE7
install with tighter security, but this problem didn't  start until the
new images rolled out. Unfortunately, I have to have the images with SP3
and IE7 in them, they'd just bog down the network running as updates
anyway. IF there is a registry key that could accomplish this, I can
script that or ask to have  it put into our network policies for Active
Directory if I know which key.
    I appreciate your help.
    Thank you.

  • New Macs with Mavericks won't open Photoshop CS3

I upgraded my desktop and laptop and am having trouble with my licensed version of CS3.  I spent over an hour with the Adobe Chat line to try to resolve the issues.  My desktop computer (iMac) says: "Licensing for this product has stopped working."  It quits the program after that message, so I cannot deactivate CS3 on that computer.  My laptop says that I need to deactivate the software on the other computer in order to activate it on the laptop.  After an hour on Adobe Chat, it abruptly ended unresolved with:
    Bopanna N B: Thank you.
Please wait while I transfer the chat to the appropriate group.
You are not currently connected to a chat representative.
    The End.
Can my licensed version be deactivated from all current computers so I can reactivate on my new computer?  I'm in the middle of a project with a deadline and need this program.  My Adobe account shows that I purchased it, so it's legitimate.  I just can't access it now.

On this page you should be able use the Chat Now button at the bottom of the page and then adobe can reset your activations
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
Also, this might fix the error your seeing in case you want to use cs3 on your desktop, because you are allowed to have cs3 installed on two of your own computers.

  • Can Photoshop CS3 Be Configured To Open Bridge CS4 On Launch?

I used PS CS3 for a couple of years and then bought Photoshop Elements 8 last year because I felt it was more modern, included Bridge CS4, was incredibly cheap and would also do everything I wanted.
I have discovered that PS CS3 has a couple of useful items which are missing in PSE8 so I have just reinstalled it.
I would like to be able to have it automatically launch the newer CS4 Bridge rather than its own version but it won't.
Is it possible to do this?
Alternatively, is it possible to launch CS4 Bridge manually and use it with PS CS3 ?
I have tried but whenever I double click a photo in Bridge CS4 it also opens PSE8.
It looks as though the 2 Bridges are inextricably linked with their own versions of Photoshop/Elements.

    Thanks John.
I suspect that may be the best answer I am likely to get but have not marked the question as answered just in case someone else can add anything.
Your suggestion does work. I changed JPEG, TIFF and PSD to Photoshop CS3.
The only (quite major) snag is that if I am using Elements and double-click a photo, it opens Photoshop CS3.
This wouldn't matter if I was just using PS exclusively but I also want to use PSE at times.
Looks as though I had better just leave them with their own versions of  Bridge.

  • Photoshop CS3 fails to "open" in Win XP after SP3 upgrading

In both my desktops: P5W Deluxe and P6T after I upgrade my Windows XP from SP2 to Sp3 I cannot open Photoshop CS3 (...Photoshop not respomding...)
I do not think the problem is with Photoshop because my desktop "SEARCH" also does not function.
I hope someone can suggest possible remedies.  When I RESTORE back to SP2 everything is OK. The reason I want to go to SP3 is the 2011 Turbotax "Home & Business" requires SP3!!!!
    I thank you
    Kosmas

Photoshop certainly can work with XP SP3.
I suggest making sure your drivers are all up to date.  For example, go to the web site of the maker of your video card and download/install their latest XP release for your hardware.
You may also want to reinstall Photoshop to ensure all it's prerequisite requirements are re-examined by the installer.

  • Photoshop CS3 Disk Error?

Suddenly I can't open Photoshop CS3 or work associated with it - Window message: An unexpected and recoverable problem has occurred because of a disk error. Photoshop will now exit.
    Help!
I'm running Tiger, never had this problem before.
    Linda

I'm on a Mac G5 - I have all my important files on a separate external (Seagate) hard drive. I ran the Disk Utility (clicked Verify Disk) on the Main HD and got this message:
    First Aid Failed
Disk Utility stopped verifying “Main HD” because the following error was encountered: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    The details section says:
    Verifying volume “Main HD”
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Invalid sibling link
The volume Main HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
        Volume needs repair
I can't click Repair Disk because it isn't highlighted to click. It's only available to click when I select my external (Seagate) drive. Do I have my Main HD locked somewhere?

  • Encore 1.5 Links to Photoshop Elements 7 instead of Photoshop CS3

My platform is Windows XP Pro and I am using Encore DVD 1.5. I also have installed Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements 7, the latter primarily for its cataloging abilty of digital media. When I click on an Encore menu to "Edit in Photoshop," Photoshop Elements opens instead of Photoshop CS3. There is no preferences option in Encore 1.5 to select which Photoshop application to open. Is there a Registry entry that would allow me to open Photoshop CS3 to edit Encore 1.5 menus?

Right-click any .psd file on your system and choose "Open With..."
Tell Windows to use PSCS3 and then check the little box that says to use this program all the time for this type of file.

  • Photoshop CS3 with Mac OS 10.6 ???

Am using Photoshop CS 3 on a iMac with OS 10.4.11. I would like to take the OS up to the current OS (10.6 I think). If I upgrade to a higher OS will my Photoshop still work on it? I do not run PS all that often anymore so I would not upgrade that. Thanks for your replys!!!

The current Mac OS is 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
Photoshop CS3 will definitely work on Mountain Lion. The only thing you'll have to do is to download the Java Runtime - which you will be prompted to when you try to open Photoshop CS3 for first time after upgrading to 10.8.
You can read the official article from Photoshop blog here: http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2012/08/osx-10-8-mountain-lion-released.html
There have not been known issues as such. But if you do have a specific problem after the update, feel free to post here. We'd be happy to help
