Open Picture With Lightroom 2

Im using windows vista and want to edit my pictures in Lightroom 2.
I've been using lightroom 1.4 for a long time and loved it, but recently upgraded to an opympus Camera, and there are compatibility issues.
anyway, im using version 2 now, and when i right click a picture and choose "open with", lightroom isnt there. I browse to it in the adobe section of program files and choose it as the program to open my jpeg picture file, but nothing happens.
I dont want to have to import my pictures every time, as it is a pain in the a$$.
Anyone know whats causing this to not work?
Thank you!

im sure its possible tho, because in Lightroom 1.4 it was possible.
the process im describing is to right click a photo, choose to "Open With", select the program (this case being lightroom 2).
With lightroom 1.4 it worked perfectly, but with 2 it doesnt...

  • Importing a picture with lightroom instructions

I use a desk top as my main computer and a lap top for downloading from my camera in the field. I import the pictures on my laptop into Lightroom running on my laptop. I would like to work on those pictures in the field and then import those pictures with new lightroom instructions into my main computer. How do I get the new lightroom instructions into my main computer catalog?
I shoot NEF files with a NIKON. Thanks.

It means that you will have another catalog named whatever you name it that will contain additional copies of your images with all of the Lightroom settings.
It is possible to have numerous catalogs. You can create a separate catalog for each project, each month, or whatever. After you have imported a catalog, or have created an additional catalog, you can go to the file menu and open any catalog that you want.

  • Open image with Lightroom

If I right-click on an image and choose "open with", the programme refuses to open with Lightroom. It will open with most other programmes, eg Photoshop, Capture NX, etc. When I use the browse option, and choose Lightroom from the browser, it still won't co-operate. What do I do?

Images have yo be imported into LR, not 'Opened with'. Start a new Catalog and do Import and use one of the several ways to proceed, including Reference in place or copying to a specified location.

  • Opening pictures in CS5 from LR5

When transferring a picture developed in Camera Raw in Lightroom for further development in CS5 you normally get a choice wether to open it with Lightroom adjustments or as an Original. I do not get these questions any more. Any suggestion how to solve the problem?

Have you tried resetting your warnings in the preferences dialog?

  • Lightroom export - original file with Lightroom modification data

    Hello, hello!
I have imported a folder of, for arguments sake, some JPEGs, TIFFS, and DND photos into Lightroom, leaving the files in place, and just linking them to the Lightroom Catalogue's Library. I have then made a whole load of 'modifications' to the photos in Lightroom (the data for these modifications is stored in the Lightroom Catalogue file, right?).
Can I now export some of the photos from Lightroom so that the file that comes out is in the same/different file format (e.g. JPEG/TIFF/DNG) and have the Lightroom modification data embedded (perhaps in the EXIF data) of the exported file? Can I then open this with a 'normal' program and have it show the original? Can I then open this with Lightroom/Photoshop (?) and it show the original with the modification data applied?
    Thanks a lot! :-))

Can I now export some of the photos from Lightroom so that the file that comes out is in the same/different file format (e.g. JPEG/TIFF/DNG) and have the Lightroom modification data embedded (perhaps in the EXIF data) of the exported file?
Yes, but you should not export. Just hit Ctrl/Cmd+S to Save Metadata. the metadata will be embedded into the files. Note that the actual image will not be altered. That is, if you view the jpeg in an external viewer you will not see the adjustments made in Lightroom. Only Adobe products can interpred those.
Can I then open this with a 'normal' program and have it show the original?
    Yes.
Can I then open this with Lightroom/Photoshop (?) and it show the original with the modification data applied?
Yes. When you open in Photoshop and it's a non-RAW file (e.g. JPEG or TIFF), there's an option somewhere in Camera RAW to be used for opening non-RAWs. The point is, those have to pass through Camera RAW, rather than opened directly in Photoshop, for metadata to be interpreted properly.

  • Teathered Shooting with Lightroom 4

I've been tethered shooting with Canon for about 3+ years (EOS Utility & DPP, Breeze DSLRremotePro & BBpro), but never had sustained success with Lightroom  2 or 3 for tethered shooting.  Lightroom 4, so far, looks pretty good with respect to tethered shooting.  But I do have a few open issues with Lightroom and tethering and would like ask others if they have solutions.
    1.  I haven't found a keyboard shortcut to open the "Tethered Capture Settings" window.  Is there such a shortcut?  The only way I can see to get to that window is use Ctrl T to open the Tethered Capture Window and then use the mouse to click on the icon in the far right low corner of the Tethered Capture Window which then opens the "Tethered Capture Settings" window.
    2.  There doesn't appear to be a way to select the number of digits for the sequence counter for tethered shooting.  It's fixed at 3, which isn't always enough for some things I shoot.  I'd like it to default to 4, with an option to set it to 3 or 2.  Is there a way to do that?

If it's not supported in LR3.2RC, I think there is not be a big chance that it will be supported in LR 3.2 when it finally comes out. Maybe in some later 3.x release.

  • Why when I edit a picture with photo to remove red eyes an then open in Snapseed red eyes are still there?

    Hi
Firstofall I must excuse for my really bad English
I have ann iPad 2 updated with IOS 5.0.1.  I use camaraderie connection kit to import photos from the SD memory card.  Then I browse them with the default photo app, and I make some corrections like removing red eyes effect.  Then if I open the corrected photo with Snapseed the red eyes appear again.  I have tried many times and I am sure that I save changes.  If I browse the photos again I see it correctly.  It is like corrections are not really stored in the picture but Ina sidecar file.
    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Thanks for your answer razmee209!!
Yes, and it shows the picture with corrections..  This is what is strange to me.
I'm amateur photographer and on computer I use Adobe Lightroom.  There when a edition is made, changes are not stored in the original file, but written in a separate xmp file or in the catalog.  So if you try to open an edited photo you cannot see corrections.  To get the corrected file in another app you need to export the photo, this is create a new file with the correncions applied in it.  For me it seems like photo app in IOS work like that.

  • When trying to use "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustements" from Lightroom, Photoshop opens but no photo is displayed.

I can see from searching online that this is a regular question but I have not yet seen a solution.
I am running Lightroom 5.4 and Photoshop CC 14.2.1, both kept updated via the monthly subscription, on a 2013 MacMini running OSX 10.9.3
    Starting with jpg's:
If I try  "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustements" - Photoshop opens but no photo displayed in PS
If "Edit a Copy" or "Edit Original" then Photoshop displayes the file OK
If I am using Canon Raw files (.CR2) from my Canon 70D, then AS EXPECTED Lightroom starts Photoshop with the intervening dialog box about opening a copy or original but again just a blank screen and no photo displayed.
Has anybody found a solution yet?
    Thanks in advance

  • Problem with Lightroom 5: how to connect the app with my original pictures which are on a external hard disk and, once this resolved,  how to create virtual pictures

A friend has  installed Lightroom 5  on my MacBook air. he  transferred all my picture that were on my IPhone an on Iphoto on Lightroom but without making virtual copies systematically. He put the original (real?) pictures on a external hard disk under Data_photos folder to allow more memory space on my Mac book Air. My problem now that when I connect the external hard disk with my computer the connexion does not happen automatically. it is like if Lightromm does not recognize the path to get connected to the original/real picture and therefore I cannot see pictures with all their potential and I cannot work on these. I am stuck! What should I do to 1) create this link? 2) create then virtual copies in order to be able to work on my computer without been obliged to connect my external hard disk to be able to use the application Lightroom. The friend who helped me disappeared! He is not in Japan and unable to help me.I hope you can help me. I have been looking for support to apple stores, photo shops, computer specialists but I have not found the expert capable to help me. I am leaving in Geneva. And believe that I should have some one with me physically to resolve a problem which I believe is not a serious one if one knows lghtroom an dinformatic basics... thank in advance to come back to me asap !!!!

I installed Photoshop CC (2014) yesterday through the Creative Cloud app. Now, when in Lightroom when I go to "edit in"and select Photoshop CC (2014) and click on "edit copy with Lightroom adjustments",  it opens Photoshop CC (2014) but my photo doesn't show up?  My photo does show up when I click on "edit copy" or "edit original".
How can I correct that so that I can open up a photo from Lightroom WITH the Lightroom adjustments? Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem, but only with jpg's. I have PS CS6, CC, and CC 2014. Other image file formats function normally with regard to the "open with" list. PS CC 2014 appears on the list. But with jpg's only PS CC appears on the "open with" list and 2014 can't be added by the browsing for it.
The curious thing is that if I have any of the three versions of Photoshop open, click on Photoshop CC in the "open with" list, the image opens in whatever version is already open on my computer. This is true of all image formats. No matter which version I pick from the "open with" list it opens in the currently running program. I use only the latest version so keeping it open all the time is an easy work around. I won't uninstall any of the earlier versions lest more file association quirks result. it would be nice to have this matter fixed.

  • Opening file in Photoshop with Lightroom edits doesn't work anymore

I have LR5.3 and PS CS6. Since I've updated camera Raw, my files won't open as Tiff files when I want to edit them in Photoshop. Hence, all the edits made in LR before won't be kept. I don't see the window saying "Open in PS with Lightroom edits"???? Anybody had the same problem? In LR Preferences, Tiff is preciser as the file format to edit in PS but it doesn't work

  • Opening pictures from the desktop with iphoto

    Hey guys,
When I download pics onto my desktop (or anywhere else for that matter) (say a friend skype me some pics) and i want to open them with iphoto to store them in the relevant roll or album, i have to go through all the hassle of :
    -ctrl click
    -open with
    -other
-look for iphoto in the list of programs
Is there any way I can put iphoto directly in the list of program i get by ctrl clicking on a picture file? The only think i can think of is "always use this program", but then again i don't always want to do that...
Thanks a lot! It would save so much time in the end...

You can also import a complete folder of jpegs by drag and drop.
Its slightly trickier but will work. Some practise may be needed.
Select the library and scroll down to the bottom of the album pane. Pick up the folder and move the mouse pointer to a spot to the right of the Trash and between the lowest album and the one above. When a black line apears around the entire album pane just relase the folder and it will be imported as a complete album bearing the folder name.

  • Drag a picture with hyperlink to open it in a new tab

When I drag a picture with a hyperlink to open it in a new tab, always it asks me to save the picture. I think it is good to do so when I want a screen shot, but I have got an another app that could do screen shots with ease. So, would someone help me out?
I don't want to save it, simply open it in a new tab. Thanks all.

    Anyone help?
