Open platform for developing small java applications - Support platform.
Hello everyone,
The SAP NetWeaver Support Platform is an open platform to develop and run small utilities (known as plug-ins) that perform support oriented activities on any and all components of NetWeaver.
I appreciate if you can take a few minutes to learn about the tool and provide your valuable feedback so we can design the next generation.

How to open JSP session from a java application or an applet?
Hi,
My problem is a bit challenging (at least for me) and its not about JSP but it is about a web application..
I couldnt find a better place to post this question I am sorry if this is not the right place to post it..
I need to enable users log into my website by checking username and password and reading and checking the data from a usb device located in client computer.
I can read from the device thorough JNI using the third party DLL file for the device... I have no problem with that..
Since I need to make native calls I am planning to develop a java application so I let the users open the application using web start.. Once my application is running on client side after reading the device and getting login password information (assuming login information correct), How can I open a web session for the that spesific user and a web browser and let the user browse the web site on his/her own session?
I would appreciate any guidance..
Thanks..add the values in the header using...
response.addHeader("userNmae","XXXX");use it in all ur pages like say..
if(!request.getHeader("userName")!=null && request.getParameter("userName").equlas(""))
String username=request.getParameter("userName");

Can i develope a java application using C API
hai,
i have C api, the project was developed in C before, now i am having that api. I have to do that in java by using that C api.
can any one suggest me how to do this?Your question is not that very clear!! You want to convert the C api to a Java api? or you want to develop a Java application that uses the C api?
For the first question I believe that you should check the functionality of the C api and re-code it in Java! do not believe you should find anything imposible in that! (unless that api is trying to do something crzy directly with memory)
For the second question then I believe you will have to use native calling or something like that. I have never used it, but read about it, and it seems one way how Java can interect with C.
Over here there is a forum.

Step-by-Step guide for developing a ADF application, does it exist?
Step-by-Step guide for developing a ADF application, does it exist?
Hi there,
At our company we recently begun working on a project using Oracle ADF with
UIX. We got the Oracle JDeveloper 10g handbook and we did a 5 day Oracle ADF
course. A good way to start the project I think.
One thing that bothers me though, is that I cannot find a simple clean example
how to manipulate a record in the DB, going through all steps of MVC. I tried
this forum, the books we got and google. It usualy explains a small portion
of the steps needed, but never a complete example.
I know people will probably say you can design what you want in various ways
and that's its all up to the developer, this is also the power of ADF that it
can be very flexible.
However it would be nice to have a step-by-step example how to be able to insert,
edit and delete a record. Showing all the steps that have to be made in the BC4J,
struts and UIX, including creating triggers, seq, autocommitting etc.
I think ADF is pretty complicated, therefore having a step-by-step example guide
(design pattern) would be very handy for a beginner like me.
Do such guides exist, are there developers who created such a guide for themselves?
Would other developers find such a guide useful? I'm curious about everybody's
opinion.
A good example of what I mean by guide can be found here
How To Build a Simple UIX Search Form, written by Shay Shmeltzer
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/shmeltzer/setwhereclause/uix.html
kind regards
IdoHave a look at the ADF Workshop - it doesn't use UIX rather it uses JSP but I think it will give you the basics.

Then have a look at the toy-store demo and the new ADF Case manual:

How can i build RPMs file for my own Java Application?
How can i build RPMs file for my own Java Application?....I have my own directory that contains all Java Source files and some files that my Application required....I want to build RPMs file like a install File to Linux System, Now my OS is Linux Fedora core 1.....How can i do this?
I think that in order to create a RPM, you'd need to
use some C.Nope - the RPM is all about packaging and the "magic" x.spec file. You can have anything you want in the RPM, but you have to use RPM tools to build the .rpm file. One of the features is that you can also indicate (via "install" scripts) modifications to other files or the filesystem to support the installation of whatever's in the RPM. -
Browser for Web Dnypro Java Applications?
Hi All,
is there any documentation which is recommending a browser for Web Dynpro Java Applications?
Is there any other Information about browser compatibility of Web Dnypro Applications available?
Best, JohannesCheck the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) at [http://service.sap.com/pam|http://service.sap.com/pam].
For SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1, these are the requirements (in short):
IE 6 or 7 on Windows XP SP2
Firefox 2.0 on Windows XP SP2, Linux or Mac OS X
I really hope they will add support for Safari/Google Chrome in the future.

Oracle Solutions for development of enterprise application
Can anyone tell me what my options are in the Oracle world for developing an enterprise application, and what would be needed for deployment?
It appears to me that for a Forms application you HAVE to purchase the Enterprise Edition of the Application server because it is the only edition that has the Forms (and Reports) services, which is needed for a Forms application. This is priced at 30,000 per processor.
Whereas, all you need for a J2EE application is the Java Edition of Oracle's Application Server which is 5,000 per processor.
Is my assessment correct? -
We have a requirement to print the w2 forms for employees using java application, how can i implement this. Please give some suggestion.
Anyone any ideas to help please?

I installed LR CC , but when i try launching it flashes & it is gone. I tried the solution in the Adobe Site - which says search for the folder Library/Application Support/ Adobe/ Sl Store ...., but i can't seem to find the SL Store or SLCache folders ( i use the Mac). Only then can i apply the solution. I just cant seem to find the folder in the first place
That did not work for me & as per adobe site help if signing out does not help- we are supposed to go the above folders & do some additional steps, but i could not find the folders & hence the question

Where will I find Tutorials for Developing J2EE We Applications in NDS?
Hi,
I did not find Tutorials for Developing J2EE We Applications (Creating Web Module Projects) in the NDS Help.
Can you please tell me as to where I will find such tutorials.
Thanks a lot,
JyotikaHi,
tutorials are available in the Gettign Started section of the Development manual. You can have a look at those under this link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f6/4345e8238fcd418197d6692e59d673/frameset.htm (however, you should also be able to find those in the NDS help documentation.)
Description about working with J2EE toolset in NDS can be found here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/87/15e73ee7442e5ae10000000a114084/frameset.htm

How to open an PDF file from Java Application
Hi
I am developing a GUI application in java swing.
on clicking one button, I want to open PDF file from my swing application.
Is there any API through which I can achieve this?
Tapan Maru
Sun Certified Java ProgrammerHere's a way to do it (if I understand you
correctly). Just let explorer.exe do it for you.
import java.awt.*;
public class openPDF
Desktop desktop = Desktop.getDesktop();
public openPDF()
open("test.pdf");
public void open(String path)
try
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("explorer.exe "+path);
} catch(Exception e) { System.out.println("NAI!
I! ERROR!\n"+e); }
public static void main(String[] args)
openPDF myApplication = new openPDF();
Why do you have a Desktop object as a member but instead of using it, you execute a command with Runtime (which is not platform independent!)???

How to provide support for language which java doesnt support (e.g URDU)
Hi,
I need to develop an application which should be using Urdu Language ,since
java doest support URDU (language spoken in India and Pakistan).
what steps should I take ??What to do???
your help is really needed!
ThanksHi Abasith,
Good day. As per our project requirment, we need to have 2 versions of Application. One in English & Arabic. Our Idea to implement Arabic is to have a properties file.(Resource bundle). But I cannot see the Arabic letters in property file created using Arabic. So we moved to Word pad & saved the document as Arabic. I am able to reach the properties. But when i use to get the string from there I m getting an exception No resource bundle found for locale.
This is my code.
public class Test1 {
public static void main(String s[]){
ResourceBundle resource_bundle; // The Resource Bundle super class
Locale locale;
locale = new Locale("ar","AR");
System.out.println(locale.getCountry());
try {
resource_bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle("tryone_"+locale, locale);
//System.out.println( resource_bundle.toString());
System.out.println("Resource Bundle here "+resource_bundle.getKeys().toString());
Enumeration en = resource_bundle.getKeys();
while (en.hasMoreElements()){
System.out.println("Elements "+en.nextElement().toString());
System.out.println(resource_bundle.getString("Myname"));
System.out.println(resource_bundle.getLocale());
} catch (MissingResourceException mre) {
mre.printStackTrace(); }
Can u help me how to go about. I am totally new to this Internationalization.
Thanks in Advance

How to develop JMS Java Application.
Now,I develop Java Application(J2SE stand alone) to send JMS for JMS Adapter(sender) verification.
But fatal exception is displayed when I execute Java application.
Error is rellated to following code.
InitialContext context = new InitialContext(properties); //←(SendJMS.java:41)
Are there wrong points in this code or other necessary settings(for example on Visual administrator) ?
I think that Java Appli can send Java Message to JMS provider in J2EE(XIserver) by using JNDI.
Is my thougt wrong?
Sorry poor English.
Best regards.

Tools for Developing Rich Web Applications
What tools are others using to Develop Web applications
against BW 3.5? I have a few years of experience developing web applications using Visual Studio .NET and C#, but the .net PDK is not an option in our current environment.
I was thinking that writing jsp's would give me the flexibility I needed to develop Rich web applications, but being new to SAP BW I am not sure.
I am looking for tools in which I can control result sets, write logical code based on users information to filter and return data.
Please list technologies and Languages.Hi Jimmy. As it relates to SAP, you can use a couple different technologies. JSP on the java side, or BSP on the ABAP side will allow you to do pretty much anything you want. It allows you to use HTML and javascript and also HTMLB. You could also use Web Dynpro. Web Dynpro is SAP's new UI strategy. It is designed to help you create business transactions, so the UI elements are stardard and cannot be modified. But its cool, because you drag/drop your ui elements in the layout. Web Dynpro allows you to create robust web applications without coding the UI and allows you to focus on the business logic. Of course there is some coding to handle UI, and flow, but not as much as when you are developing JSP or BSP.

Tool for building a java application's installer
I'm searching for a tool for creating an installer for a java application. Just found InstallAnywhere... It looks very attractive, but it costs... was wondering if is there anything free.
Well to be brutally honest, I think you'd be better off sticking with Flash if this is a critical project... it would be a great exercise for learning Java, but would probably take w-a-y-y-y-y-y more effort than doing a similar multimedia presentation in flash.
(I haven't used Director, so can only talk about Flash here) - as you know, Flash is really a very powerful authoring tool that allows the user to do very complex animations very easily, whereas Java is a lower-level programming language that is infinitely more flexible, but comparatively more developer-intensive when it comes to producing user interface stuff. Java might be a viable option if you have to do stuff that flash can't, like very complex interactivity, or pulling info from a database etc (although maybe Flash 5 can even talk to databases now??? I don't know)
You can get tools to help you build Java user interfaces using "drag & drop" methods, and these tools will automatically generate the code for you, but (a) this means you're not really learning java, and (b) flash would still be less labor-intensive (and probably more impressive to your end users)
In summary - I'm not knocking Java or Flash - I love 'em both; it's just that Flash is better suited for certain things, and Java is better suited for others...
PS - nice website, but Portfolios shouldn't have an apostrophe before the "s" ;-)
