Open pps in Keynote 9

Currently if I open a PPS by double clicking, it opens in Open Office. How do I change it so it will auto open in Keynote?

On the file icon, click once on it and do a Get Info (Command I). A tall thin page will open with various info on the file. Under Open With, choose Keynote. If you ALWAYS want Keynote to open any PPS file, there is a button to click that says "Change All". Good luck.

Why won't mail open pps in keynote '09??

Since I installed SL can anyone tell me why, whenever I open a powerpoint presentation in mail instead of opening keynote '09 it opens keynote test drive in version '08 (although I have already purchased '08 and '09 ) and have have both installed on my system. I don't understand why it won't use '09 to open pps docs. If anyone knows of a solution or workaround I would be most grateful.

I tried deleting the plist, then 'choosing to open with iwork '09 and change all but still it jumps back to the default '08.
Is there any other way I can change the default to '09?

Background music is lost when opening pps with keynote

When I get an email pps with music. I'm able to open it with keynote, but unfortunately I lose the background music.
How can I fix this problem ?

What format is the music in? If it's some Windows only format, then it won't play in Keynote.

Keynote file from 6.5.2 won't open in either Keynote 6.2 or Keynote

I'm having problems opening Keynote (.key) files sent from a colleague. I've tried to open the file in Keynote 6.2, but get the error ""File.key" can't be opened" and in Keynote 5.3, but get the error "Unable to open "File.key" because it isn't a valid Keynote document."
He has sent me the files through Slack both as .key, which didn't work, and within a zip file, which didn't help either.
My colleague is using Keynote 6.5.2 and I'm using Keynote 6.2 and have tried also in Keynote 5.3.
Can someone please help?

New Keynote file types can't be opened in older versions of Keynote.
Ask your colleague to convert the file to the older iWork 09 file type and send that to you.
To convert:: Export > Keynote 09

I cannot open my previous keynote'09 files in keynote'09!

Hi,
I use Macbook pro (Early 2011, 22GHz i7, memory 8GB) and installed Maverick as soon as it was released.
I have used iWorks'09 since I have bought this mac, and had no problems so far, till I recently installed new version of iWorks.
Recognized that new iWorks are just trash, and relieved to hear that my iWorks'09 are still available,
I removed the new iWorks from my dock and now use the previous version of iWorks as I had.
The problem is, most of my previous presentations done by previous the version (iWorks'09) can be open without problem
but I cannot open some presentations which are nothing different from those can be open.
It says " You need a newer version of Keynote to open this presentation" everytime I try to open them.
I cannot understant why I need newer version of Keynote to open previous presentation,
because I am using iWorks'09 now. Plus, I don't want to use newer version of iWorks.
Do I need to install newer version of Keynote again nevertheless, to open these files?
Please help me if you have any idea!!

Keynote 6 uses a different file type to the previous version and they are not backwards compatible.
I removed the new iWorks from my dock and now use the previous version of iWorks as I had.
If you have not deleted Keynote 6 from the applications folder it is still installed on the Mac and can be used.
If you want to use your files created in 6, open them in Keynote 6 and save them as in the previous version.

If you want to reset current view, we can use:

If you just bought iMac it should come with Pages and a demo copy of Office which may need to be register to get it to work.

I have a PDF document that I sent to a friend and my self. I could not open it on my iPads but she could open on hers. Mine shows up as a Winmail.dat I resent the email as a text format and now I coudl see it as a PDF and open it up.
Can someone explain why she could open it and i coudl not?

After I got ios 7 on my Ipad, I couldn´t open powerpoint in keynote? Just me or do also have this problem?
When I click on the powerpoint file on the internet, I didn´t got a question about to open in keynote? Why?

A small edit before the presentation usually leads to jawdropping "how-did-you-do-this" effects.
Even if Keynote won't do anything powerpoint does, it does the most of them much better. An average PP should be no Problem converting and presenting.
But i just can repeat what you said: A small timewindow for tweaking is important. But: Even a perfect set up PP can do murky things with another PC if there are missing fonts or other things to consider...

Always open *.pps with PowerPoint

I received an email with a *.pps attachment (i.e., a PowerPoint attachment). The tool tip says Mime-type:application/vnd.ms-powerpoint. However, when I double click the icon, I get the cannot find an application error message. So I navigate thru the choose application menu trail and select PowerPoint. Then when I try to open that same icon again I still get the cannot find an application error message. Is there way to force Mail to remember to always open *.pps attachments with PowerPoint?

try exporting the attachment to the desktop. then click just once on the file to highlight it and then press apple and i on the keyboard. from here, go down to the "open with" section in the middle of the information window. select other if powerpoint is not available, then specify powerpoint in the new window that comes up. you can select to always open this by checking the box, and then make sure back in the information window, you click the "change all" button. this will tell all powerpoint documents to open with the powerpoint application. Your add-ons list shows AVG, ZoneAlarm, and McAfee products. Could one of them be blocking this site? See whether you can add exceptions or just disable them temporarily and test whether that helps.

When you updated, the old version remained on your Mac, in a subfolder within Applications named iWork '09. Any icons you have on the Dock still point to that old version. Try opening the Numbers that is located in your main Applications folder, not the one in the subfolder. If that works, then drag that one to the Dock.
