Open raw file into camera raw ?

Before I used Adobe Bridge to keep track of my photos, and that program has a function where you can right-click on a raw file and choose to open the photo in camera raw. I can't seem to find this function in Lightroom 1.3 Is it there some where ?

Yes, I do, and I just answered a similar a few hours ago.
You use "Import" to attach files to the LR catalog, as a general rule. You can, at least on a Mac, assign LR to open .crw files, for instance and it will import that way.
I presume you're on a PC?

  • Problem with Photoshop CS6. If I open a file using Camera RAW

I have a new problem with Photoshop CS6.  If I open a file using Camera RAW, and process it as usual, CS6 doesn't want to save it the way it used to.  I don't know if I changed something by accident or not.
Here's what happens now: After opening from ACR to CS6 and completinhg all of my work, I choose "Save as..."  The save as window opens showing the file name and format.  The default format seems to be .PSD.  I use the drop down to select .jpg.  The file saves normally as a .jpg.  When I go to close the image from, I get a new prompt asking, "Save changes to Adobe Photoshop document DSC_xxxx.NEF before closing?
I looked up at the file name in the bar above the work space and noticed that it does NOT change from "DSC_xxxx.NEF" to "DSC_xxxx.jpg" after I have saved the file as a .jpg,in my webesite  but it always used to do that.  This adds a few extra steps when closing a document and it really slows me down.
In fact, I wouldn't swear to this, but I think it used to save to .jpg by default, without me specifying this.
I don't see a setting in the preferences for what to use as the default file format for saving, so I don't know where to change it back.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

I'm going back to cs4 after using cs6 and I can't open nef files in camera raw.

Each camera needs a specific camera raw version (ACR).  And each ACR is tied to a specific version of PS.  See this list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Hello, I have a Mac computer with NVIDIA 750M dedicated graphics card and monitor EIZO but the problem was there when I was working with Windows and Acer monitor. When I open a file from Camera Raw in PS this is smaller than the screen so I double-click with the tool "hand" to fit on the screen, but the picture loses sharpness and becomes blurry. If you magnify the image even only slightly with the tool "zoom" the picture comes back clear. In Camera Raw instead is always sharp. I solve the problem by turning off the graphics card in PS but often use plugin that need the graphics card otherwise the processing time is much longer. I ask for help.
    Thanks.

  • Open a file into a java app - HOW DO YOU DO IT!!

I have written an html/php editor - I want to set it up so that when you double click on a php file in windows it will open the file into my java ide.
I know this can be done - but how!!! There does not seem to be any info on the web about it - can anyone give me some pointers.
    Thanks

Yeah - but the problem is: You can only set files to
open with a .exe file - if you go to the settings and
set the .php file to "open with" you have to select a
    .exe file e.g. notepad.exe
However you can't create .exe files in java!!!! So how
do you do it?You have to spend $$$'s
However many /most converters don't work without the relevant updated JVM (but they are *.exe, kind of)

  • IPad Mini - Unable to open mobi files into another app...

Just got an iPad mini and it appears that I can't open mobi files on my Kindle app. I also have an iPad3 and I have no problems opening mobi files on my Kindle app on it.
Basically I put my mobi e-books on skydrive and when I want to put them in the Kindle app I just select to open the files in another app and I can select the Kindle app. I am unable to do this with my iPad mini.
Both my iPad3 and Mini are running IOS 6.1.3. I did some google searches and found that this may be an issue with some iPads running 6.1.3. I installed a file manager app on my Mini and it appears that it sees the mobi files as rar format files so it does not give me the option to open them with the Kindle app.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue? I was planning on using my Mini as my primary e-book reader and I was hoping to be able to do this without having to convert all my mobi files into mother format
Any help resolving this issue will be much appreciated!

After trying various different things and resetting my Mini to factory default several times I was able to figure out how to open the mobi files I have on Skydrive and Dropbox in my Kindle app.
I had to delete both my Skydrive and Dropbox apps and do it through the web browser.  I was able to download the mobi file with Safari and open the file in the Kindle app.
Firest I reset my Mini setup and installed only the Kindle, Skydrive and Dropbox apps.  I could not open a mobi file into the Kindle app with either The Skydrive or Dropbox app.  I even reset my Mini and installed the Kindle app with just Skydrive and then reset it again and tried with just Kindle and Dropbox installed I could not get it work.
Finally, I reset again and installed only the Kindle app and used Skydrive through Safari and it worked just fine.  I tested it with Dropbox and Safari and it also worked.
So basically, for whatever reason, my iPad Mini just can not open mobi files into the kindle app using either the Skydrive or Dropbox app.  However, my iPad3 running the same IOS and app versions can do it just fine.  Go figure...

  • Opening RAW file into Camera Raw (help please)

    Hi,
Brand new to Photoshop (free trial started 2 days ago) and am having significant difficulties with overall program.  One major issue is the ability to open my photos into the Camera Raw program.  One tutorial mentions to right click and convert it to Smart Object in order to launch the program but this does not seem to work for me.  It merely adds a small image into the corner and becomes a "Smart Object Thumbnail".  I don't use Bridge (heck, I don't even know what Bridge is!) and am merely opening up a file into Photoshop directly.
My images are in a raw format, does that make a difference?  Do photos have to be in jpegs to use that program?
    Thanks.

Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) requires a lot of reading to master.
Raw files should automatically open in ACR when you double-click on them.  ACR can be hosted either by Photoshop or by Adobe Bridge, and the respective application will launch when you double click on the raw file and present you with your file open in ACR.
The purpose of ACR is to convert the raw file into something you can see and use.  Raw files are very, very dark gray-scale images with nothing a human eye can discern as color.
Forget about "Smart Objects" for now, that is something you will only be able to understand or use until you are proficient with Photoshop, many months or a couple of years from now if you are truly dedicated and take a Photoshop course at a community college near you.
You cannot open a raw file in Photoshop directly.  It has to be converted in ACR first.

  • How do I open my TIF file into Camera Raw from Bridge?

Trying to follow a tutorial on editing an HDR image in photoshop. When instructed to open the TIF image into Camera Raw from Bridge, I don't get the option when I right click. What is going on here?

I was talking about an advanced action, which is not loaded externally but executed on runtime (will be translated to AS). So this will only work if you can pass the value of the variable containing the slide number you want to the SWF. For that you'll need JavaScript and I'm not that acquainted with JS. Have a look at Jim Leichliter's blog:
    http://captivatedev.com/series/captivate-javascript-series/
In Captivate you create an advanced action to be triggered on entering the first slide, that will jump to the wanted slide number. If you can figure out how to pass the slide number, could help with the advanced action, I know them rather well:

  • Why can I no longer open jpeg files in camera raw in CS2? The option is grayed out in Bridge

I was forced to download CS2 from the web after Adobe stopped allowing me to register it from my disks and now I can no longer open files in camera raw. Am I missing something?

As far as i know, photoshop cs2 and adobe bridge 1 (cs2) could not open jpegs or tiffs into camera raw, only camera raw files.
I believe photoshop cs3 was the first version to allow jpegs to be opened in camera raw.
Are you sure you had photoshop cs2 before?
If on the other hand, you can't open camera raw files that you used to be able to open, then you probably just need to update the camera raw plugin to version 3.7
    windows
Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 3.7 update
    mac
Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 3.7 update

  • Can't Open .NEF Files In Camera Raw CS3 - Windows 7

    I have a Nikon D60, Windows 7 Professional (32bit) and  Web Premium CS3.
I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7.
I cannot get my Nikon's .NEF (Camera Raw) files to open when I select "Open in Camera Raw". I can see the .NEF thumbnails, but neither Photoshop or Bridge will open the files in Raw, you know where you can adjust all those killer settings non destructively.
I had cs3 installed on an XP machine and my .NEF files worked perfectly in Raw.  Not so in Windows 7. I have tried to update to Camera Raw 5.6 but that wouldn't install. Is there an earlier version of CR that I can get and use, or any other advice would help.
    Thanks

The last version of Camera Raw to work in Photoshop CS3 is version 4.6. If you HAD been able to open your D60 NEF files and now can not, then something changed...did you do a fresh install of CS3 under Win 7? If so you installed version 4.0 (what shipped with CS3). You'll need to go to the Camera Raw Updates for Windows and download an install version 4.6.

  • Cannot open DNG files in Camera Raw hosted by Bridge?

I used Adobe DNG converter on a batch of NEF files (D300). The conversion was successful and the .dng files show up in Bridge with the right preview. However, when I double-click on any of these files, it launches Photoshop and opens the file in CR hosted by Photoshop. This in spite of having my preferences set to "Double Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" in the Bridge preferences. Furthermore, a right-click (or control-click) on the file's thumbnail shows the Open With... item only has "Open with Adobe Photoshop CS3 (default)", and not the option to "Open with Camera Raw" that other RAW files have. Interestingly, if I do some editing in ACR, and click on "Done", then, right-click on the thumbnail, the missing options in the Open menu in Bridge re-appear!
I don't think this was happening before. Is this the expected behavior, or am I missing something?
    My setup:
    Bridge 2.1.1.9
    Camera Raw 4.3.1
    My computer:
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac6,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM61.0093.B07
    SMC Version: 1.10f3
    Regards,
    Rafael

Problem solved. I had to delete the preferences file (resetting preferences by pressing the required keys when launching Bridge did not solve the problem).
I am glad I learned that trick by visiting this forum!

  • Bridge (2.1.1.9) in CS3 10.0.1 won't open psd file in Camera Raw

Why is File/"Open In Camera Raw" greyed out when I try to open a psd file in Bridge?  It will open a jpeg file in Camera Raw.  Thanks

As far as I know it is not an option to open PSDs in ACR.
It has to be JPEG or TIFF. (Or raw of course!)
