"Open Recent" list reverts to old documents.

When I try to Numbers (3.5.2) document via the dock or via the menu bar (File>Open Recent), I am given an out-of-date list of documents.  I delete them (File>Open Recent>Clear Menu), find the documents I want and use them, and they will briefly be listed under "Open Recent."  However, by the next day at the latest, all the truly recent documents are off the list, and I have a list the out-of-date list there again.  This is true for Numbers files on my drive and iCloud.  Anyone know a fix?

The "Open Recent" list in InDesign is cleared each time I restart. I'm running CS6, OS 10.7.5. I am current on updates. AI and PS's lists work fine as well as the Finder's recent files list. Thoughts?

Check  your Edit>Preferences and under File Handling make sure you have a figure set in the

Hello everyone....this is my first posting
    Hopefully someone can help me.
I have noticed that suddenly my 'Open Recent' list has nothing in it anymore? Does anyone have any knowledge on this,it's getting quite frustrating and time consuming having to search manually for song's that i have been working on recently.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

but my understanding of a "moat" is a ditch surrounding a castle - often filled with water, or for the unlucky ones being thrown from the battlements - not.
So in your most illustriously titled book "The Moats of the US" (which i hasten to add caused quite a stir this side of the pond - partly due to the allegation that it's author created a moat around his table during the London book signing event which resulted in 2 drownings and a rather red faced PR agent) do you pertain to the outdated notion that indeed castles of sorts were errected at Manhattan in an attempt to add historical value to... • TextEdit "Open Recent" list contains a folder I can't open

In TextEdit I went from File > Open Recent > … and noticed in that list a folder icon, titled: ".de0146.000"!
Puzzled, I tried to open it, and naturally got an error message saying that TextEdit cannot open a file in the "Folder" format. So I tried using Spotlight to find where it is, but spotlight cannot find it.
    What is this thing?
How did it get into my "Recent" list?
    Is it anything suspicious?

Thanks for your help and patience WZZZ. I've been away.
1.) I got EasyFind. I'm usually scared of new downloaded software so that's been a useful "adventure" for me.
2.) EasyFind showed it as located in " ./Desktop/RADIO "— a folder in which I file downloaded audio files from Radio Podcasts etc.
But when I selected Reveal in Finder I could not find it in that "RADIO" file, so I presume it was an invisible Folder after all. Its size was simply shown in EF as "--", presumably zero.
I could not copy the line in EF so I hope this adequately answers your question.
3.) I did destroy it from EasyFind as you suggested.
So this whole thing has been a valuable learning curve for me throughout, and as it has been my first foray into using an internet Forum ever, you have been great in boosting my confidence in that area too.
A very special thanks to you.

  • Open Recent for V5.5 Not Showing Most Recent

After upgrading to Pages 5.5, the Open Recent list of documents is buggy - sometimes after saving a document, the list of recent documents is updated and sometimes not. Before upgrading to Yosemite and version 5.5 of Pages, this feature worked.
Clearing the menu has not resolved this issue. Changing the Recent Items number in System Preference has not resolved this issue.
I tried to report this issue using the Apple feedback link, but the dropdown menu for version number only went up to V 5.2.
Any suggestions? Anyone else having this issue?

Any pattern? Are they the most recently created or modified? Anything in common about how they are named, or in the +dot plus three+ extensions? Are you still seeing the older version of files on the Mac compared to directly in Windows.
I've not used Windows 7 so I'm not familiar with any sharing filters that are possible. If you are still seeing older versions of files, and the ones you don't see on the Mac happen to be the most recently added to the folder, it still feels to me like you are actually connecting to a different sharepoint than what you believe... maybe one that is in an backup archive or something.
Sorry I can't be any more helpful. It's a bit mysterious.

  • Where did catalog paths go in File Open Recent in Lr3??

In Lr 1 & 2, File >> Open Recent shows you a list of your recently-opened catalogs, INCLUDING the path for each one.  I just upgraded to Lr 3 and only see the catalog NAMES are listed under Open Recent... and no paths.  I don't see any option to turning paths on in Edit >> Preferences or Edit >> Catalog Settings.
In the past, I had a separate folder for each shoot, each with it's own Lr catalog... I named each folder for each specific shoot, but always named the catalogs "edits"... so i literally have hundreds of catalogs named "edits"!  This was never a problem in Lr 1 or 2 thanks to (1) the paths being displayed in the recent catalog list and (2) them being stored in separate, specifically-named folders... but now I can't distinguish between them in Open Recent... and I'd prefer not to rename all those catalogs!  Anyone have any insight here?  Much thanks!

Thanks for the effort Dorin, but actually that isn't true & doesn't help:
    (1) You're incorrect, LR 2.7 does in fact show paths under "Open Recent".  See attached picture of my screen from my old computer running LR 2.7 (I coudln't take a direct screenshot which shows active menus).  Dorin, I believe your paths don't show because they are test catalogs, and possibly your one actual catalog is in the same path as the test ones?  Not sure, but obviously from my picture you can see paths.  (My folders, on the F drive, are labled with dates & names, as you can clearly see.)
    (2) "Stop creating so many catalogs. One is enough."  Seriously?  Because I take over 50,000 shots for wedding season alone each year, let alone all the other completely unrelated things I do - commercial, landscape, events, portraits, etc.  Having just one catalog is nonsensical for many reasons - most notably that it would be so bloated that I couldn't organize anything properly (I use colors, flags, and stars already in each individual catalog already) & it would have amazingly horrible performance.
So my question remains - does anyone know how to (or if we can) turn paths on in the Open Recent list in LR 3?  Is there anyone from Adobe on these forums?  Thanks

  • Open Recent not updating

Recently I noticed that my Open Recent lists were not updating in a variety of applications (Preview and Pages, most notably). I cleared them and (after looking at some discussions on the matter) removed the ...LSSharedFileList.plist files for each. But the applications are not rebuilding these files. If I open the app, and open a file, that file shows up in the Open Recent menu while I am working. But if I close, quit, and reopen, the Open Recent menu remains clear. How do I prompt those applications to rebuild those files? I can probably go back and recover old ones from Time Machine, but those weren't updating either, so something is stuck that I can't figure out how to unstick. Suggestions?

I'm flummoxed too! I've never bothered clearing them before either, but that's because they've always updated! Now nothing seems to be.
I'm ignoring the apps right now and focusing on Recent Items on the Apple menu. I did what you suggested and hauled the com.apple.recentitems.plist file out onto the desktop, logged out, and then logged back in. Sure enough, the list was clear except for two apps that launch on opening (Stickies and Weatherdock). I launched Terminal too, just to get it on the record, and Recent Items showed it. Then I logged out and logged back in again. Now the list showed Stickies and Weatherdock, but not Terminal! I tried again, opening Mail and Safari, logging out and logging back in, and they don't "stick" either. It seems to update on booting and then just stop. And whatever it is, must be systemic.
I have a new MBP on order, and I'm getting to the point of just giving up on this and waiting for the new system. It sounds like you are running out of ideas also, both as to what might be the problem and what might solve it. Very frustrating. I certainly appreciate your attempts to get this thing fixed!

  • I can not find my old documents stored on my android tablet

Help. Only list and accessible documents are recent list. On old version, you had all documents and recent documents. All they have is recent and cloud now. How the heck do I read stored documents now. Can I unload this version and go back to old?

I did not have problem with my devise until they changed to this stupid new version on adobe reader. I just need a way to get up full list of my PDF's on the Adobe Acrobat DC. All it shows is recent list. The old version had menu that had documents list, which showed all PDF's stored on my tablet.

  • Can't get rid of Button Libray in Open Recent

Is this happening to anyone else? I don't know if it's restricted to this particular library file.
When I first installed ID 6 I must have opened the Button Library just to look, and ever since it's been in the open recent list, usually as #1, though during the course of a session it will move down, or even off, the list, but the next time I open ID it will be back at #1.
I've even trashed the Saved Data file, and everything else on the list is gone, but there it is when I restart: Button Library.indl.
I don't wish this on anyone else, so don't try this at home unless you need to open a library, particularly that one, anyway, but would someone who uses libraries be willing to open one, shut down ID, then restart, open at least 10 more docs to move it off the list, shut down and restart again, and let me know if the list stays the way you left it?
    Peter

I opened about 15 files to push the library off the list, closed ID, re-opened, the library still was not on the list, so I renamed it back, rebooted, opened ID, opened the library, verified it was again on the list, then opened 11 more files to push it off again.
I've closed and re-opened ID, and it hasn't come back yet, so maybe that was it.
I don't remember a crash with the library open, and if it had, why didn't it recover on the next launch? I do have a vague memory of modifying the library, though, then changing it back, and closing it. Why that would trigger a recovery, and where it was trying to open -- because it certainly wasn't on the screen anywhere -- is a complete mystery.
Cyndi, try renaming the library and re-launching ID, and let us know what happens.

  • How to clear the Page '09 recents list?

On Pages '09 and Mtn Lion.
A right click on the Page icon shows a list of "recent" files, none of which exist any longer. Files that are open/closed do not get added to this list, but are added to the File>Open Recent list. Clear List clears this list, but doesn't clear the icon's right-click list.
Having a functional right-click recents menu on the Pages icon sure would boost my productivity, so any help certainly will be appeciated.
    -Nick

I did this every few minutes all evening and again this morning ,,,,
"Sometimes it takes a few moments to happen, sometimes you have to open then quit the app a few times, but the list does goe away as do the thumbnail Icons from the Right-Click > Show Recents in The Dock Icon."
.... and Pages' right-click's recents menu remained filled with non-existant files. Same problem in Numbers and Keynote.
Did a Restart and the problem magically disappeared .... problem RESOLVED!
    -Nick T.
note: This may have been the first reboot since installing Mountain Lion two or three days ago.

  • CS4 Cache and "Open Recent"

I keep reading conflicting info on whether to let Bridge export cache files to folders or to maintain a central cache. What is preferable and why?
Second, File>Open Recent is always grayed out and no files are ever listed. Is there some way to make this work?
    Thanks.

I think the Bridge cache files exported to folders are in addition to Bridge's central cache.  You would want cache exported to folders if you plan to write those folders to another system or external media and view them in Bridge on another system.
For me, Bridge's Open Recent lists files recently opened by installed Adobe CS apps such as Photoshop.  For example my Open Recent in Bridge lists files that I've recently opened in Photoshop, In Design and Dreamweaver.  There also is a Reveal Recent button in the application bar with submenus for CS apps then a list of recent folders viewed in Bridge.  Does Reveal Recent display anything for you?

  • "Open Recent" in Motion.

    Hi,
My "Open Recent" list has stopped updating. It seems to work as long as Motion is open but as soon as you shut the program down and go back into it, it goes back to the same list of items it showed before. It's a minor inconvenience but a bit annoying - any ideas? Is there a "prefs" to trash or something?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cal

It sounds like your prefs are locked or have incorrect permissions. Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences, ctr-click on the file com.apple.motion.plist and select Get Info. In the dialog that appears, check that Locked is not selected and that the permissions allow write access.
If these were all set correctly in the first place, try trashing this file.

  • Increase number of "open recent" projects

Is it possible to do this? I went through the preferences, but didn't see a choice. I could have missed it, as I'm partially blind. Bummer!
    TIA.

    Hi there
To my knowledge there is no way to control the number of projects stored in the Open Recent list. Once the number of project exceeds whatever number is the limit, the oldest project disappears from the list.
If you would like to advise Adobe that you would like to see such a feature in a future update, please click the link below and complete the request.

  • Issue with "previous recipients" and "open recent"

    Hi,
When I upgraded my MacBook Pro, I had to manually copy my user folder to my new Mac and I think it's causing a problem with file permissions.
The main issues of that, is every time I quit an app, my "open recent" list is emptied (and it's not linked with the new system in 10.6 in the global preferences). And the second, is that no new "previous recipients" are added in Mail.
Has anyone a clue on what I can do?
    Thanks.
    Laurent

    Bump!
    Still looking for a solution.

  • When I open pages it scrolls through various numbers of blank pages with a line at the side, then stops at a document, but usually an old document. I have to  go to "open recent" to get on the page I want.

    Hi
When I open Pages it scrolls through numerouss blank pages with a line at the side 1st, then settles on an old saved pages document.I then have to go to "open recent" to select the one I want. Why?

    No
It's the 1st version of Pages I've had on my computer.
Can't delete them as they scroll through them at a rapid pace. The longer I've had the problem the more blank pages it scrolls through.
