Open Reference VI dependent on file size?

I am using Open Vi reference to pop up VI's where I can change values. When I close the VI that popped up, I can select another VI to open if I choose to edit the values associated with that VI.
My problem is, the code I am using work great with two of the three VI's. The only VI that it doesnt work on is the largest in size of the three... around 900KB. All the code to open vi reference is shared, so everything is exactly the same. I've checked the spelling and stupid errors at least 10 times over, so I was starting to wonder if the file size affected anything. Thought maybe if the file was too large that it couldn't be opened.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Matt

Nevermind ... the name I was sending to the Open VI reference must have had an extra space.... making it extra hard to spot, considering all the spellings were correct.... GRR.... its always something stupid.

    The full error is:  There was an error opening this document.  The file size exceeds the limit allowed and cannot be saved.
    I didn't think Reader had a size limit?  The file is only a couple of hundred MB.
    Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this error?

    Hi,
    we have a oracle database 8.0.5 and it crashed yesterday. now we cannot open the database (only mount readonly) due to an incorrect filesize of usr1orcl.ora. is there a simple way to open the database?

    i'm sorry but it wasnt in archivelog mode.
    the ora error codes are:

    The control file is from a time earlier than the datafiles.
    The datafile size does not match the size specified in the control file.
    The datafile is corrupted.

  • JPEG images opened in Photoshop double in file size upon save. Why?

    I've noticed that jpeg files I open in Photoshop (fresh off the sansdisk card) pretty much double in file size (from, say, 3MB to 6MB) after they're saved. This occurs even if I don't change the image size at all and simply save as a jpeg after touching up the levels and sharpness (no major restorative work on the image at all).
    Can anyone explain this to me?

    JPG format saves disk space by using a coding scheme (called huffman) in which small numbers use fewer bits than small numbers. What is saved is differences between neigbor pixels (the idea being that there is usually much similarity between neighbor pixels). Smaller inter-neigbor differences need fewer bits than large differences. When you adjust tonality, the adjusted image most likely uses a bigger portion of the tonal range than the original image did, and the inter-neighbor differences are increased. A sharpness boost also increases differences between neighbor pixels, particularly so if you boost sharpness so much that noise is increased, and more bits are needed to store the differences.
    Another thing is that when you open a JPG image into an image editor, the editor uncompresses the image. When you re-save it, you have to select a compression ratio, and it may not necessarily be the same ratio that the original was compressed with.

  • Opening up an Excel output takes a lot of time whenever the file size is la

    Hi All,
    We have some BI Pub reports with excel output format. These files have records in the order of thousands. The file sizes are > 2MB. Its taking a lot of time to open such files. Does anyone have any idea how can we get around this problem ??
    Thanks in advacne,
    Venkatesh N

    Another point is that BIP doesn't create a native/binary Excel file but an XML output. When you open this XML once and save it again as *.XLS it's size will decrease significantly and Excel will open it much faster.
    This applies to Excel 2000 - 2003, I don't know how it works with Office 2007.

  • Recovered data show normal file size but icon is different and wont open

    We recently had an old lacie drive go bad. got dropped one too many times or whatever.. not our fault but its for an important client.. drive had 200 GB of files.. a lot of stuff.. we took it to recovery and returned 80GB.. not bad.. among the recovered files were the ones we wanted.. and more... more than half retained their full file name.. so we know... but usually the icon for audio file is two red and blue waves. when we saw the icons that we had tried to save on the main computer they were black and white. but they still portrayed
    37.6 MB.. like a full normal file... on the recovered data we see the same file size, but the icon is a blank paper with the corner folded over.. we try to import it to pro tools but it wont import.. i think it was recorded in logic but i doubt that matters.. its just audio... im sure the proper info is in there but we have to get the applications to recognize it.. we tried opening it in different apps, but it simply wont.. is it an extension problem? will restore fix it? how should i do it? i appreciate any help!

    i tried changing the extension. i changed the icon but it still wont open. the files are sd2f. apple info will not allow a test sounding. sample and bit rate are not displayed. i gotta get these to open up. what should i do?

  • What is the maximum file size for CSV that Excel can open ? (Excel 2013 64bit)

    Hello,
    Before anyone jumps in, I am not talking about the maximum worksheet size of 1048576 rows by 16384 columns.
    I have  client whom has a 1.5 Gb CSV file, 1.9, 2.6, 5, 17 and 89 Gb file (Huge).
    If I open the 1.5 Gb, the file opens (After waiting 5 minutes) and then a warning pops up that only the first 1048576 rows have loaded. That is fair enough.
    If I try and open any of the others, Excel comes up to a blank worksheet. No errors. It just seems to ignore the file I tried to open. This happens from within Excel (File - open) or from double clicking the file in explorer.
    Excel goes to this blank page almost imeadiatly. It does not even try to open the file.
    If I try with Ms Access, I get a size warning and it refuses to load the file. (At least I get a warning)
    I would have expected Excel to load at least the first 1048576 rows  (If that is what there are in the file), and give an error.
    The computer is more than capable (Xeon processors, 16 Gb ram, SSD hard disks top of the line HP Z820 power workstation).
    With the 1.5 Gb file loaded to 1048576 rows, it uses 15% ram/pagefile. CPU's hit about 5%.
    I have confirmed it is Win 7 64bit, Excel 64bit. I am fairly confident we are over the file size but without an error message, I don't know what to tell my client whom is looking to me for answers.
    I have already discussed that the 89gb file in Excel is unreasonable and they are looking at a stat's package but I need an answer on these smaller files.
    Anyone got any ides ?

    Hi,
    The 1,048,576 rows & 16,384 columns is the
    workbook size limitation in Excel 2013. Thus, I recommend we try the Mr. Bernie's suggestions to import the large CSV file.
    1. Use VBA to read the file line by line and split/examine the import file in sections. If you have further question about the VBA, please post your question to the MSDN forum for Excel
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=exceldev&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc
    2. Use Excel 2013 add-ins. Power Pivot and Power Query. For more detailed information, please see the below articles:

    This "error note" must have something to do about it?

    elppaelo,
    You may try the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • File size variations in Cs5, Bridge, & Mac when opening D800e raw files

    I am getting extreme variations in file size when I open my D800e nefs in photoshop cs5, & Bridge. When I highlight the same nefs on my Mac(10.6.8) & "get info", I get another file size.  D800e files are about 103 MB each at 8 bit, but can vary dramatically when I open them in Bridge or Cs5. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Thank you for responding. I understand what you are saying. After more attempts at resizing nef files into tifs, and then restarting my computer, everything seems to be ok. However, when I make a four shot stitched pan with the D800e, I encounter the same problem even after downsizing to a more manageble file size. Each photo in the pan is originally 103MB. After resizing the 4 shots to 30MB each, I end up with a pan that is about 75MB in CS5 after cropping. When I highlight this pan & "get info" on my Mac desktop, the image size is 300-400 MB. I can ignore this for personal use, but if I have to send it to a client via the internet its a problem. I have made stitched pans with my D3s with no problem at all, so I guessing I have to switch cameras when I want to stitch shots together. If anyone has any more comments feel free!

  • File size: open vs closed logic

    What is the logic of having two differnt file size for the same document? One size for a closed document and one size for an open document.
    The example show a file size of 63.3M open document and 96.1 MB closed document.
    When discussing file size what is the official size, open size or closed size?

    The file size figure you quote is pretty meaningless.  It actually is the amount of resources PS is allocating to the image and not actual image size.

  • How to optimize file size when opening RAW in Bridge?

    I seem to recall opening RAW files through Bridge and into Photoshop a couple of years ago and I was always given a choice of file size options. What has happened to these options? can someone please help me get the biggest file size out of a RAW (DNG)? thanks!

    J Maloney wrote:
    Sure. If you open a RAW file in camera raw, at the bottom of the camera raw window you adjust the settings. I'm sure this is equal to or better than opening at the native resolution and upsizing in PS.
    According to the book*, upsizing in Photoshop is better and the best method is Bicubic Smoother.

    You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
    Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
    Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
    You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
    Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
    Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
    Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
    Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
    All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
    Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
    Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
    Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

    Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
