Hi
I have a jsp page which renders html output. I use this html and set the content type to excel to generate an excel output.
When I set the Content-Disposition header to "attachment", I do get file open, save, cancel dialog.
The question is can I disable open and just have save and cancel ?
Help is greatly appreciated.

My previous answer was about the Content-Disposition of "attachment". To be more clear, if you still want the page displayed in the browser rather than saved to disk you may try Content-Disposition as "inline" instead. After which the user could decide to save or not. If the browser recognizes the Content-Type then you might get excel to open, and you might get a warning about unsafe content.

Handling IE9 File Open Save Cancel information bar.

I am automating a webpage using IE object. I am able to fill in the forms and click a link which downloads an excel file.I need to handle the information bar(Yellow popup) "Do you want to open or save the file" on File download in IE 9 using excel
VBA . I need to click save as option. In IE8 i was able to handle the file download dialog box using windows handles. Could anyone please help in achieving the same in IE 9 ?
I also tried for windows handles which does not help me as the open save buttons are not detected as child windows.

Enhanced seamless install badge, asking user "open, save, or cancel"

I’m trying to get it to start the install automatically. it seems to install my air app automatically right after installing air runtime ,but if a user already has the air runtime it ask them “ open, save or cancel"
Can the Enhanced seamless install badge always install automatically?

If the user gets air runtime installed the badge goes directly to the install and ask them if they want to install it.
If the user already has air runtime it gives the open, save, cancel box.
Is there a way to get the badge to go directly to the install question rather than open, save, cancel box if they already have the air runtime?

Each time I open mail in outlook , a window opens up asking to open/save or cancel numerous Firefox files

This happens several times I open mail in out look. several windows pop up heading file down load.It asks whether I would like to open/save or cancel. When I try to open it goes to internet and start Loading...but nothing happend. example of one such file in C:\document&Setting\Hirak\Local Setting\temporary internet file:

This is driving me crazy

Believe it or not I managed to "fix" this issue with one mouse click.
I minimized the "People Pane" which in my instance of Outlook is on the bottom of the message area. It seems to be some kind of connection which allows you to connect your own Microsoft contact list with social networking sites for the same people.
Once I minimized this sub-screen, the issue disappeared.
Of course, I only figured this out by accident, and only after 90 minutes of reg edits and reboots.

Open, Save, Save As Plus the pop up at the bottom of the page

When opening an .mdb file on our intranet home page (medium security) while in IE 8, the link activates the access database within the link and opens access in a new window (as intended).
We have been testing with IE 10 and the link now wants to open the older style "OPEN, SAVE, SAVE AS" pop-up (3x5 card with white background).
After selecting OPEN, we also get the new style of pop-up at the bottom saying "couldn't be loaded" RETRY, CANCEL, VIEW DOWNLOADS.
Regardless of what I select the access db still opens as intended.
The big question is,
HOW do I make it so no one will see the first or second pop-ups. I don't want the user to have an option to OPEN, SAVE, or SAVE AS, and I don't want the bottom pop-up either.
I just want it to open like it did under IE 8.

the default security slider value for the Intranet zone is Medium-low... and Medium on server versions of windows. mdb files are 'unsafe'. Check your registry for any 'unsafe files' whitelists..

Check if file downloaded successfully , through Open Save dialog box

In the jsp I have a download link through which user can download a file which is located on the server . I have achieved this by setting the response type in servlet as follows => response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); .When the jsp page loads the user is shown a Open Save dialog box for downloading the file. The user can download the file or cancel the operation.
But now I need to track if the user has downloaded the file successfully on his m/c , depending on which a flag will be updated in the database . I am not able to track this event . Pls help how I can check if the file has been downloaded successfully and do further processing.

This is fully dependent on the client side. You can never rely on that.
In most cases you could check if any byte of the file is written to the outputstream and/or no IOException is been thrown, but some webbrowsers (such as Firefox) will download the file immediately while the client still need to choose 'save' or 'cancel'. Only when the client chooses 'cancel' the download will be aborted and the file will be deleted. But if the file is small and/or the network is fast, then the file download might be already completed at that time.
Again, you can never rely on what happens at the client side.

HDR save/cancel is greyed out - bridge sooooo slow. PS6

Hi I am having more frustrations again with the HDRs engine. Now it opens and I can make some changes but it will grey out the open and cancel buttons if I move the cursor from the laptop monitor to the external monitor, forcing me to essencially force quit PS6 (something I have to do often enough in the last month or so. opening the HDR in the laptop window does not do this but hampers my workflow. I have an additional problem with bridge which hangs, lags, crashes and generally acts like it doesn't want to do anything I want it to. I have recently swithced to a VPN server and after that is when things started to get strange. I know bridge needs an open port now but so perhaps it's that. These things; the external monitor and the VPN are just as important as PS6 so.. How can I config things so they run smoothly? thanks. Perhaps if I replaced the external monitor for one with a faster refresh rate? Found a way to bypass dinamic link??? I would LOVE to find a way to do that!!! dynamic link is a real drag (literally).
I am on a macbook pro with 8GB RAM, 500 GB HD and a samsung synchmaster not mirrored.....I want to append that either monitor will cause the HDR dialog to grey out save/cancel. If I change from one app to another. THIS is what is causing it! HOW can I fix?? I will update as I see there is a new version. And report back to this thread.......It indicates that the app is up to date. No updates available. I had this problem with HDR pro early on with PS6. and the same problem is back, rendering the fooling thing useless - it freezes me out of any further actions causing me to have to force quit to get back into PS.... I had stopped using HDR pro when I upgraded to PC6 from 5.1 for this reason. Looks I will go back to good ole' reliable photomatix......Unless anyone have a fix????? Anyone?

Sorry no. I see that message constantly. I don't believe in turning off warnings.
All comp[atibility does is save a flattened Photshop 2.0 version inside the file. ID will use that as the preview instead of making a new one if it's there, but it has no bearing on anything else, as far as I know, and makes the file much larger than necessary unless you actually plan on trying to open it in Photoshop 2 or some other application that can't read newer Photoshop files.

Applications Crash After Use Of Open/Save/Pick File or Folder Dialog

Hi, all.
This has been a problem since I installed 10.6 (the day it was released).
The 10.6.1 helped somewhat, but this is still a real problem.
I'll describe what happnes:
I'll be in a program (any program: MS Word, TextEdit, Safari, anything) and I'll use any of the following dialogs:
-Open
-Save Pick
--a-file
-Pick-a-folder
or anything like that.
Then, never during the time I'm using the dialog, always soon (there's often a delay of a few seconds) afterward, I'll get a message saying that the program quit unexpectedly. It says that an error report has been sent, and gives me the option the reopen the program or ignore the quit. (Except MS Word; it has it's own error reporting system).
Now, this is a BAD program because it happens when I save something.
It is important for me to note that this doesn't happen all the time. Some programs seem more stable than others, and some file formats (the one I select) stabler than others. Also, it seems that (at least with Safari) I can do things to reduce the likelihood of this crash happening. Sometimes opening using Rosetta helps. Sometimes 64-Bit helps. Sometimes disabling the cache helps.
It all seems pretty random.
Bottom line: this is REALLY annoying, especially when it occurs after use of the save dialog. Apple needs to fix this.
Is there a way for me to fix this myself?
Apple Hardware Test comes out clean. No problems with my startup disk, as far as I know.
It is nice to have QuickLook available in these dialogs, but if that's what's causing the problem, it'd be worth it to me to disable it. Any way to do that, just to try?
Anyone have any other ideas?

All right, so I found crash reports for each recent such crash.

And, now that you mention it, yes: there are aliases in the CrashReporter folder to some of the crash files in the DiagnosticReports folder. Oddly, only those that belong to AppleScript Editor are present.

I hope you are using reason for rejection for cancelling quotations. If that is the case, you can use transaction VA25 to view the list of quotations. Here you can filter on two columns status and reason for rejection to view the report as per your requirement.

Automatically open, save and close excel?

I need import data from Excel to SQL.
Now, I use tSQL to directly read the excel files and transform to the SQL table.
As the user Excel is not a good format for SQL to read, I need use formula to transform the excel to be a SQL readable format.
Now, I add a sheet to copy the data from the sheet which user input the data and then ask the user to copy the excel to a specific location for import.
However, this will make the data in the excel double and result a large excel file.
I am thinking if it is possible to create a excel to use formula to copy the data from another excel.
Then, I need find some method to open that excel, let the content refresh from the source excel, save and close it.
Then I can directly use this excel for data import.
Is there any simple way to do so? I don't know marco much...

Open/Save Dialog, 9 min. Beachball Freeze

I am running OS 10.10.2 on a March 2009 iMac with 8GB RAM and 1TB HD.
PROBLEM: While working in Illustrator 18 (CC 2014), if I choose File > Open, the Open dialog appears but I get the spinning beachball for 9 minutes before file contents appear. I don't have the same problem in Photoshop or any other app. But after Googling, I see that a number of people have posted similar Console Log messages (see below) when using in a variety of apps in Yosemite, even in Apple's own Mail app. This tells me the root problem may not be specific to Illustrator, even though it only affects Illustrator in my case currently.
WHAT I TRIED:
1) Moved all Adobe Illustrator related PLISTS and preference files and folders to the Desktop and then launched Illustrator. I saw Illustrator rebuild new prefs files and all settings reverted back to stock. This proves my moving of the prefs to the Desktop was successful to cause a rebuild of new prefs and PLISTS. Even so, the BeachBall freeze appeared when I did a File > Open.
2) Rebooted with SHIFT held down (Safe Mode). But the beachball problem remains.
3) Disconnected all USB devices except keyboard/mouse, and turned off WiFi and BlueTooth, and even yanked my Ethernet cable. I also turned off Time Machine and Default Folder. But the problem remains, even through a reboot.
4) I removed DropBox and GoogleDrive and I closed all apps other than Illustrator, but to no avail.
5) Tried a Guest User, but that doesn't work with Adobe Apps. Ditto for a Standard user. You get an error dialog when you try to launch Adobe apps with that kind of user. So I then created an Admin user. Illustrator's Open dialog box displays files perfectly, as normal! A NEW ADMIN USER FIXES THE PROBLEM!
So a new Admin user fixes the beachball problem in the Open dialog, but for my normal Admin user there's the 9 min. beachball problem. And yet, SAFE MODE doesn't fix the problem while in my normal User. And neither does deleting Illustrator prefs. So it's clear there's still something lurking in my primary user account that is absent in the new Admin user account. But what? And how can I find it? (Migrating everything to a new User account is no easy task.)

I get the exact same set of messages that you see above every time I try to reproduce the problem, simply by doing a File > Open in Illustrator.
I assume AFP is Apple File Protocol? But what "server" is it trying so desperately in vain to "Get"? And why is a DNS resolver being used?
Anyway, as you can see from the Console log above, the beachball in the Open/Save dialog in Illustrator goes away after 534 seconds (about 9 min.). But it reappears each time I try to go to a new folder on my HD within that Open dialog. Each time takes exactly 534 seconds each time for the stupid beachball to go away when changing folders in the Open dialog.
This beachball freeze (for 9 min.) in Illustrator's Open dialog occurred every once and a while over the last several weeks, but now it consistently happens. And no, I've not installed any new software on my iMac other than Yosemite updates.
Once again, I would prefer to fix the root problem in my primary user account rather than migrate to a New User even though I now know a new Admin user account resolves the problem.
Please help.

If you read through all the above like I did, you're probably very tired by now. But if you had the same problem as I do, you would do anything to resolve it, hence my post here. So again, I plead for your kind help and attention to this problem!
The above links do tell me one thing, that a "network error" is at the heart of the Console log messages and my problem. And that remains true even when I've disconnected from the network entirely, leading me to believe that this is some sort of CACHING BUG. For truly, there is a Time Capsule at my office, and I do use Time Machine (although not saving to the TC but instead to an external FW HD). So... It is my guess that Yosemite has cached some network data it doesn't like and tries to access that data from a cache when the Open Dialog appears in Illustrator. But WHY ILLUSTRATOR in my case? It makes no sense to me at all. I would think it should consistently occur in the Open dialogs of all apps, but it's only in Illustrator.
I did have problems with my Time Machine backups after putting Yosemite on my iMac, but those issues were resolved in the 10.10.2 update.
In any case, if indeed it is a CACHING BUG, how then would I clear that stupid, evil cache?

Open/Save Dialog Box SLOW

My Mac has slowed down to an absolute crawl. I have reinstalled the OS, run Disk Warrior, Disk Utility, removed my preferences folder to see if something in there was actin' up, I've repaired the permissions, etc... Yet in any application (whether it's Photoshop CS 2, Safari, TextEdit, doesn't matter), if I hit "open" from within that application... no exaggeration... it can take anywhere between 45 seconds to a little over a minute for the dialog box to finally appear!
The last thing I want to do is nuke my machine. I am so tired of that being the solution whenever something can't be fixed.
Has anyone run into this? Does anyone have any ideas what to do to fix this problem without nuking the machine?
(this hasn't been a problem at all until, maybe 3 months ago or so... and I've been running Tiger since it was released)

...got up this morning, saw the suggestion 'bout the iDisk, figured I'd give it a try...
That was it!!! I've had a .mac account for years, have had my iDisk on my desktop for as long as I can remember. I wonder if something from software update somehow made my machine and the iDisk go "screwy" 'cause it started getting excruciatingly bad just a few months ago.
Thank you, thank you!! My machine has received a gigantic speed boost across the board, and the open/save dialog boxes now appear instantly when I call upon them, all my apps quit instantly now too. This is amazing! [breathes huge sigh of relief]

Open/Save Dialog does not show new files?

Say you are working on a logic file in a folder and you have
a few audio and movie files in that folder, and you launch
Logic and via the open/save dialog window you add a few
files to your song and in that dialog window you can see
all the files in that folder.
Then, in the Finder you add a few more files and movies to
that folder and again use the open/save dialog window to
add more files BUT the new files you added since launching
logic are NOT SHOWN in the dialog window ! ?
What's the deal with that?
Every other app can show files added since the launch of the
application, why not Logic?

um, yeah.
Should not need the project manager simply to see new files added to a directory in a Open/Save dialog window since last opening the app.
I did a scan, a extended scan, opened all the little turn down arrows of the
full path to the directory I knew there to be the new files and yes, Logic
shows them there in the "Project manager".
BUT Logic still does not show the files in the Open/Save dialog windows.
This is strange because even simple app like TextEdit can show
new files in it's Open/Save dialog function windows without the need of
a project manager.
I have to quit and re-launch each time to see any new files?

Open/Save Dialog Box Freeze

Hello,
Since updating to 10.4.7, the open/save dialog box freezes (beachball) after selecting a folder. Can anyone please point me in the right direction in solving my issue.
I used the ComboPPC updater and then ran Cocktail to repair permissions, cron scripts, clear caches etc.
I recently posted about the Finder freezing instead I should have mentioned that it was the Open/Save dialog box.
