Open second form at run-time (and transfer variables)

Hi,
i'm searching for a method to open a second (maybe attached) form from an existing form at run-time.
The goal would be to have a button in a form which runs a function as click event that opens the second form and transfer field values from the existing form to the new opened form.
To new form should opened in a separate Adobe Reader window because the user should have the possibility to save or print the both forms separately.

Attempting to install Forms 6.0.5.0.2 (or 6.0.8.8.0) run-time and 8.1.6 client on same NT box.
1) I attempted to install 8.1.6 client first in c:\oracle\ora81, then Forms 6 in c:\oracle\forms6. The installer (3.3.1.2.4) errors, saying forms 6 does not support a multi-home installation.
2) Attmpted to install Forms 6 first in c:\orant. Then installed 8.1.6 client in c:\oracle\ora81. After beginning installation (application user) the following Dependency message displays and the installation is canceled: "Installation cannot continue for the follwoing reason(s). [Oracle ODBC Driver is a single Oracle home product. It is already installed in location c:\oracle\ora81. Oracle provider for OLE DB is a single oracle home product. It is already installed in location c:\oracle\ora81. Oracle objects for OLE is a .... Pracle Provider for OLE is a single home ... You can either de-install these products or install the products in the same location as the single home products."
Click ok and the installation cancels.
How do I install these two products on the same box?

We had to upgrade from 7.3.2 to 7.3.4 when we moved over to Forms
6.0.5.0.2 and it's working fine.
We are using Net 8 as well.

Lov is not validating when i open a form for first time

hi all,
i am using form6i.
i have one multi record block. in which lov is attached to it.
but when i open the form for first time the item corresponding the above said is not showing and if i enter the value then also its not validating against. its showing error frm-40210
but when i click on other item and come to this item Lov is showing.
what could be the reason for this strange behaviour.
i have checked set_item_properties too(there is properties have been set)

what could be the reason for this strange behaviour.Do you have an "Initial Value" set for the item? Do you have the "Validate from list" property set to yes or are you setting the initial value through code?

Question: How to increase RAM & Hard Disk a form at run time can use?
Explanation:
I have a problem with a form at run-time. I guess this is due to shortage of RAM/Hard Disk. I want to increase these things so that the form can use more RAM/Hard Disk and it does not crash/cancel. The reason is that when I change/toggle TOOL --> Preferences --> Runtime, Buffer Records and Array Processing parameters, the problem is rectifies intermittantly. That is there is no fix combination of above-mentioned parameters to rectify the problem. After lot of attempts, it gets resolved but only temporarily. Next time I have to modify the form, I get the same problem.
Please help.

I am doing the analysis for all the queries , their last run time and who ran the query
Since there are almost 6000 queries , is there any way to find out last run time and who ran the query
in one step or through any transaction else It would huge effort taking task to check the data in BW statistics
table for each query

Hi,
Statistics should be switched ON for all the queries first. You can check this in RSDDSTAT.
Statistics data is stored in BW for a specific period only. This setting can be maintained in table RSADMIN (Field : TCT_KEEP_OLAP_DM_DATA_N_DAYS). If the value for the field is 30, then 30 days old statistics will be available at any point.
Not all the queries will be ran daily. Some are ran daily, monthly and yearly depending upon User requirement.
1. You can check in RSDDSTAT_OLAP for the details you needed.
2. You can install the BI Technical Content and run the respective query for the details you needed.

Hello sjunge,
basically there should be no problem installing the software with Inno Setup as long as you do not violate the License Agreements.
But keep in mind that there could be dependencies between the installers you install and those you don't and you may run into trouble with the software later on

The charger block is universal and is able to handle multiple votages. One hour to reach 50% seems fine to me if the phone was completely flat to start with. Just leave it on charge for as long as it takes to reach 100%. I leave mine connected overnight all the time and it does not harm the battery

Open module for managing property file and environment variables

Looking for an open module for managing property files and environment variables (like CLASSPATH) set in a shell script. For handeling properties (preserving comments, supporting includes, appending new entries, and more) I have looked at SuperProperties from openadaptor but find certain functionality lacking. As for interfacing with common shell scripts/files containing setting for CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME, other system/application variables another type of object editor is needed. Maybe JFIG?
Any ideas are greatly welcomed.

of the command console on windows...
So in fact I never build an exe tool, but this little problem was a nice
case to test it and I tried it.:
I downloaded monodevelop
-GTK# for .NET 2.12.10*
-MonoDevelop 2.4.2*
from http://monodevelop.com/Download
created a console project and had an exe in 5 minutes !

Clear_form hangs form during run time

Hi all
I am facing a strange issue.
I am upgrading a form from 6i to 10g. I have 1 main block and 5-6 child blocks (relation). The following code hangs the form. I am not able to find why
clear_form(no_validate); -> form hangs here
execute_query(NO_VALIDATE);
I am in dire straits, any help is appreciated.

As far as I know and as far as the form help tells me there is no such thing as execute_query(no_validate).
Did you copy and paste your code into this post or type it?
Heres a guess of what might be happening...
Does your code actually say execute_query(for_update)? If it does then you are putting a lock on every record that is queried. So, if any of the rows that you are trying to query actually are already locked, the your form will hang until the record lock is dropped. (just guessing) Unless the no_wait parameter is added.
Another thing, if (for_update) is being used and If you have two forms open and running with identical queries the second form will hang until the first form releases the lock.. (Not that you would do this to yourself and not that I have ever done such a thing either. :) )
This is an excact excerpt from the form help...
Without the NO_WAIT parameter, Oracle Forms keeps trying to obtain a lock without letting the operator cancel the process.
So.. Although I have no idea why you would need to do a (for_update) and lock every queried record. I never have in 12 years. Here would be the correct syntax to attempt to lock every queried record with NOWAIT so the form wont hang.
execute_query(all_records, for_update, no_wait);
It doesnt appear that you can just do a ...
execute_query(for_update, no_wait), but give it try if you like.

"open vi reference" with run time menue

I met some problems with "open vi reference" in labview.i can't parallel run this vi with the run time menue.i can't load the any vi then the run time menue has activation.(the "open vi reference" can run after the run time menue release.). it's means labview is serial running for this both function.but now i want to parallel running in the program.so would you give the some idear?

Now I see what you are talking about. What you are trying to do is expected behavior. If you click on the menu while any state is running that doesn't lock the front panel, then the menu will halt the VI execution until you choose a menu item.
You should check the option in the event to "Lock front panel until event case for this event completes" Then you will not be able to click on the system menu until tthe VI is launched and running. If you wire a True like I suggested before, then you will fall out of the case pretty quickly in non-hoghlight mode, and the user most likely will not notice. If the VI you are trying to open is quite large, it will take a little bit of time for LV to load the VI into memory.
In highlight-mode, you just have to wait for the event to process before you select the menu.

Is there a way to install exe of a vi on an XP machine without LV run-time and not have to restart?

I need to deploy an application that reads channels from a FP module for testing purposes. The problem is, I cannot restart the system I need to install this on because it is running critical control software which cannot be interrupted. The system does not have the labview run-time engine and I know installing this requires a restart of XP probably due to registering DLLs or something.
I'm using "Fieldpoint Network Read" to read from the module. The simple answer would be to simply install this on a machine on the same network that I can restart. However, I have no such luxury because I am connecting to the system in question over a long distance VPN connection and I need to be able to poll the data from the FP every 250ms which may be too much for the connection.
So basically, I need to find a way to read data from this FP in a manner similar to "FP Network Read" without restarting the system. Is there any way to do this with labview? Alternatively, I may be able to write this app using LabWindows since I know some software is already running on that machine programmed with that.

The first thing I'd say is that a restart may not be necessary. I have in the past installed LabVIEW development environment and when asked I said I would restart later. Then I opened LabVIEW and started coding. I'm not sure what it thinks it needs to restart for but it may not be required.
The other thing I'd like to mention is that LabVIEW 7.1 and older can run EXEs without needing to install a run time engine. So it is possible to build a EXE in 7.1, then include some files and DLLs in the same directory as the EXE, and when it is ran it will use them. There's probably issues with talking to DAQ devices without MAX and I have no idea how you address this but it is another possibility.
Of course you already know the best answer and that is to reboot the system when most convenient.

Opening Input Schedule getting Run Time Error -1004

When i am opening few Input Schedules , i am getting this error message:
Run Time error -1004.
Cannot run the Macro 'auto open'. The Macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros my be disabled.
But when i am clicking on the END button in the Pop Up Window, i can go ahead with my Input Schedules.
Can you please throw some idea on the same.

Yeah i have saved it once in a xltm format through ParknGo option. But now i have savIing it the Input Schedule Folder in the following Path Location
C:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\<APPSET>\<APPLICATION>\EEXCEL\INPUT SCHEDULES.
So when i am opening the same from the above location i am getting the error.
Now i have change the name and save it as a xlt format and still getting the error.
