Open Source for Workflow Management

Hello All,
a colleague of mine told me that he heard about an open source tool for Workflow Management.
Is it right that there is an open source product?
I don't know any open source products in the world of SAP.
Thanks a lot for your answers!

Please check this link. I do not think so

I am afraid slow performance is a built in feature of this database design, not much you can do in queries.
You could possibly create the views as materialized views and query those instead.
    Quote from the linked article
But, how does it perform? Miserably, terribly, horribly. A simple "select
first_name, last_name from person" query is transformed into a 3-table join with
aggregates and all. Further, if the attributes are "NULLABLE" - that is, there
might not be a row in OBJECT_ATTRIBUTES for some attributes, you may have to
outer join instead of just joining which in some cases can remove more optimal
    query plans from consideration.
Writing queries might look pretty straightforward, but it's impossible to do in
    a performant fashion.

  • SQL Server 2014 support for Workflow Manager?

    Is this configuration supported?
The prerequisite requirements for Workflow Manager are out of date and do not even list SQL 2012 R2 as a supported DB server.

    Hi JB
We installed Workflow Manager 1.0 on a Dev SharePoint 2013 SP1 + April 2014 CU Farm running Against SQLServer 2014 which I suspect in not much different under the hood to your SQL2012R2.

  • Cumulative Update 2 for Workflow Manager 1.0 (KB 2902007) - installing the workflow client - nothing happens

I've updated the Service bus and workflow manager to CU2 but when I try and run the workflow manager client it starts but then just bombs out - begins to load then disappears and nothing happens
On Control Panel - the Service bus, workflow manager and WF client are all there - but click show updates - the CUs for Service bus and Workflow manager are there but not for WF client
So it's just not installing for some reason
Anyone know how I can get this to install?
    Cheers
    J

    Hi,
For CU there are Prerequisites, please check the following requirements:
    Software requirements:
PowerShell 3.0 must be installed on the computer to be updated. PowerShell 3.0 is included in the Windows Management Framework 3.0 installation. Go to Windows Management Framework 3.0 to install this update.
Workflow Manager Client 1.0 must be installed on the computer.
For computers that have Workflow Manager 1.0 installed, the following additional requirements apply:
The Service Bus for Windows Server cumulative update must be installed on the whole computer farm before you install the cumulative update for Workflow Manager 1.0
also Service Bus for Windows Server must be installed on the computer.
You must have administrative credentials on the computer where you are installing the software.

  • Help needed: Data source for Facilities management (tables VTB_ASGN*)?

    Hi all,
I am looking for a data source for facilities management in R/3 (PI 2004_1_470)
The tables are concerning VTB_ASGN* etc.
every feedback is highly appreciated and rewarded.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hello Sally,
Did you ever find a solution to this issue?
My client is also looking to do reporting on facilities in BW and integrate this data into liquidity planning in SEM-BPS. However, it looks like this will have to be a custom extractor calling one of the two function modules either FTR_FC_GET_COMMITMENT or FTR_FC_GET_COMM_DRAW_FEE.

  • LiveView: Make it 'open source' for the benefit of all

First, let me start by saying LiveView is a great concept.  However...
SonyEricsson needs more than just a great concept to make this a useful and successful product.
At present, it is horrendous and they should be embarrassed with releasing this device to the market in its current state.
The hardware is average but the software/firmware is absolutely awful, leading to an extremely unreliable / barely useful device.
My experiences since receiving my LiveView have not been dissimilar to the rest of the users who have seen frequent disconnections / lockups / non-working features.
It is clear that there is interest in this device from the Android Community / Xda-Developers, etc. with many members keen to resolve LiveView's issues themselves - yet they are limited by a closed platform. Given Engadget's review of the LiveView, SonyEricsson's poor track record of providing continued support / updates to their products and their statement that there will be no updates issued for the device - I would think it not inappropriate to demand that an update at least be made to make the software entirely open source, or firmware/code released with a vehicle/drivers for updating.
I'm sure if the community were given the freedom, they could make the software reliable, customisable and perhaps even define innovative new ways to use the hardware.
If that happens, there's increased interest in the community which in turn would lead to more sales.
SonyEricsson, why not leverage the benefit of a willing (and free) workforce that are more interested in improving your device than you are?
(TLDR) In short, SE's failure to provide a fully functioning reliable product combined with their lack of commitment to continued support has paved the way for a global community of very tech savvy individuals and groups, willing to devote their time freely to improving LiveView. I say to SonyEricsson, let them - everyone wins.
To other customers, would you support making LiveView open source?
If so - let SonyEricsson know here and by submitting an e-Mail via their Support site (for UK, where SE's global management team is based):http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/common/contact/contactusemail/accessories?cc=gb&lc=en

Once there is a successor model, I would welcome it very much if the source code is released, and the owner of the MN800 can finally use their device.

  • Capacity Planning for Workflow Manager

Some information is available regarding highly available Workflow Manager implementations but I cannot find any information regarding when or how you should perform capacity planning for the workflow manager.
A few questions are jumping out at me.
When would we want/need a dedicated Workflow Manager server? (I can understand if this was shared between multiple farms this may be a benefit but what about from a pure capacity perspective).
Are there any case studies or documentation that we can use as a baseline estimation for capacity for the workflow manager?
Generally speaking for a small/medium farm deployment is it expected that this service also run on the application server?
certifications MCITP, MCTS, MCPD | blog
    http://corypeters.net | twitter
    @cory_peters

That would really depend on what kind of workflows are being run and the traffic being generated by the users. If you have long and complex workflows, you will need multiple nodes in the farm to handle.
Our tests with very simple workflows on a 16-core 16GB machine with SQL Server on a diff machine showed that it could handle 400 incoming messages per second and 65 workflow executed per second. Now if you have complex workflows, it may slow down further.
If you have one msg per user per second - it may mean 400 users handled per second. But I wouldn't make that conclusion - u must test your farms against your scale needs and accordingly plan your farm capacity
    Hope this helps

  • Sources for Solaris Management Console, admintool, Process Manager

Hello again after a long time! I'm interested in this sources (Solaris Management Console, admintool, Process Manager) especially admintool source code. I'm working on a Solaris8_x86. Are this sources delivered with the operating system and where can I find'em? If this sources are not delivered with the OS, the question remains. Where can I find'em and some help (man pages or anything) about these programs and their source code?

    Hi,
as I know, there aren't any sources available for admintool. If you are interested in Management Console, than check docs.sun.com.
Management Console is based on Jiro Technology as I remember. You can also check for CIM (Common Information Model) and WBEM (Web Based Enterprise Management).
Start with the Management Console Manuals.

  • Funds Management as a budget source for Grants Management

    Hi:
I have grant type whose budget source has been set as Funds Management and transfer to FM check box is also on. Now i have a fund center and commitment item which have been assigned to sponsored program and sponsored class master data respectively. I have created a grant with reference to these Sponsored program and sponsored class in initial draft phase. Now i want to post budget in FM and then automatically transfer it to GM as soon grant is awarded. I am following link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/3e/1b7e3cda04f678e10000000a11405a/content.htm .
In FM i have posted a  budget (but did not release it) against an external fund, also against commitment items and fund centers which have been assigned to SC & SP respectively. Grant field is set as non relevant grant.
Now my question is at what point in time budget will be will be updated in Grants management , How will the transfer from FM to GM happen ? Please guide me
    Regards

    Hi Shyamal:
Please note that a DUMMY grant has been created in customizing Define "Not-relevant grant". I am following the process e.g
1..1 have 3 Million Research & education budget for year 2012-13  and for a varying sponsored programs and a sponsored class linked with fund center and commitment items respectively
2..Of these 3 Million i am expecting that i will receive 1 Million as grant .
3..In FMBB i ENTER 3 Million budget against DUMMY Grant along with combination of fund,FC & CI.
4.As soon an MOU is signed with Grantor and he releases amount 0.6 Million  for budget i create a Grant master ans set its status to award ..Grant number generated is XYZ
5.Now i n FMBB, i try to release budget again this grant number but system is throwing error that budget amount is not sufficient for release for combination XYZ/FC/CI/Fund , system is true in saying so because earlier budget was entered and posted for DUMMY Grant and now i am trying to release it for Grant XYZ. System does not let me directly ENTER budget in FMBB against Grant XYZ and throws error "Grant XYZ can not be used to enter budget in FM".
Please note that in Grant type budget source has been explicitly defined as "Funds Management"
