Open Tab next to current tab

I know there is a post on this for Safari for WIndows But I am on a mac.
I want to be able to open a tab next to the tab I am working in even if there are already several tabs open.
Usually I am browsing the internet looking for something and I will open a lot of tabs some related to what I am looking for and some not.
When I do find what I am looking for, I want it to open it in a new tab and next to the tab I am working in rather than it going to the end of all my tabs, which is usually off the tab bar because I have so many open.
I know that Safari can run in 32 bit and I can get saft to work again but I like Safari in 64 bit.
Is there a terminal command I can use?
Please help!!!!!

Glims Beta is available for 64 bit Safari - it gives you some options to change tab behaviour - remove Saft before installing it.

  • How do I get tabs to open next to current tab?

How can I get a new tab to open next to the current tab without switching to the new tab instead of having the new tab open at the end of all open tabs and switching to the new tab?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Right click the FireFox button in your toolbar and look in the properties- middle tab...make sure that it only has "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" with no other link added to the end. I had a similar problem this morning and found a website had attached it's link to the end so it would always pop up first and would only open a new tab.
    Hope that fixed it.

  • The latest version of Firefox no longer asks if you want to save open tabes for your next session..I HATE not having that option. What were they thinking?

    Question
The latest version of Firefox no longer asks if you want to save open tabs for your next session..I HATE not having that option. What were they thinking? (I think this is self explanatory)

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    <br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • At one point, I accidentaly chose to always save tabs when exiting. i fixed this by reseting browser.startup.page to 3; however, while it now asks me, even when i click no it never opens the next session to my homepage, only to what the last tab was.

When trying to close multiple tabs, mozilla warns me and asks if i want to save. Even if I click no, the next time mozilla opens it opens to the last open tab of the previous session. If there is only one tab open when i close firefox it does not ask me, but will still load that tab when firefox next opens.

So, I fixed it...but I'm not quite sure how. I compared, line by line, my about:config with the one on my houses main computer...only did about two screen's worth, but I changed some values to match the other computer and the problems gone!

  • Firefox won't open mailto links in a new window like it used to...it just opens gmail in the current tab.

I recently upgraded firefox and now whenever I click a mailto link it opens gmail in the current tab rather than in a new window. How can I get it to open email links in a new window.

My MAILTO problem was finally fixed on the June 29, 2012 Firefox version 14 beta 10 release.

  • How can I get Firefox to stop saving the open tabs when it closes and reinstating them the next time it opens?

Even tho' I've set options for Firefox to delete history when it closes, it still remembers my open tabs and tries to reinstate them the next time it starts. This causes two problems: 1) it takes longer for Firefox to close, such that if I start it again a few sec later it is still running and won't restart; 2) it sometimes reopens websites I am no longer want when it next starts. The latter also makes the last sites I visited visible to the next user, which I (and I suspect most other users) want to avoid. I would like to turn this feature off since it is far more of a problem than a benefit!

    @cor-el
    I have the same problem.
My settings are already configured to "Show a blank page". It does show a blank page normally, but when FF crashes, it attempts to reload all the tabs from the previous session when it restarts. My version is: Firefox/3.6.13, and I'm running XP sp3 if that matters.

  • How do I bookmark all my currently open tabs in one click in Firefox 4?

I used to be able to bookmark all my currently opened tabs with a click of one button under the Bookmarks menu, but that option is now gone. Is it gone forever or I just don't see it?

Hi, you can bookmark all your currently open tabs with right click on any of your open tabs, there you'll find the option '''Bookmark all tabs...''' (this option was there also in Firefox 3.x), then you must provide a location and a folder name to group those new bookmarks. Hope this info will be helpful to you.

  • How do I change to background color in the open tabs; currently grey with black text, hard to read.

In FF 4.0 can I change the background color of the open tabs. Currently it is grey with black type. A lighter background would be easier to read.
    Thanks, TJH

Download this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/stratiform/ It allows you change the color of the tabs, plus many other options.

  • I have Windows Professional and I used to be able to move the curser over the Firefox icon in the taskbar and it would give me a telescoped view of all open tabs, now it just shows the tab that I'm currently viewing. How do I fix this?

I have Windows 7 Professional and I used to be able to move the curser over the Firefox Icon in the taskbar and it would show me a telescoped view of all open tabs, now it just shows the tab that I'm currently viewing. How do I fix this?

    Hey MikeDo,
Do you have the option checked for ''Show Tab Previews in the Windows Taskbar''? If not, just go to ''tools->options->tabs.'' You can find more information on what each of these settings do in the Knowledge Base article [[Options window - Tabs panel]].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Want Firefox to open new links in current tab, not to open in new tab.

With one of the new updates, Firefox opens a new tab when going to a new link, rather than opening link in the current tab, the way it did in earlier versions. I know I can choose open new tab or open new window in Preferences, but I want to just open the linnk in the current tab. Now, in a very short amount of time, my tab bar is filled with a glut of tabs. I prefer to use back page or forward page to retrace my steps, and to open up a new tab just when I want to open a new tab. This new default for tabbing contradicts the concept of making tabbing for your own organizational behavior.

Click the orange Firefox button, and click "Options". This will bring up a new window with a "Tabs" tab at the top. Click that. There will be several checked boxes, including one called "Open new windows in a new tab instead" up at the top of the list. Uncheck that box and you should be good to go.
ETA: This should also work if you click "Tools" and "Options" within your version.

  • Where are the currently open tabs stored - (windows totally crashed but files can still be retrieved, i got about 30 open tabs which I would like to get the URL's of before my dad wipes the drive)

We used to have windows xp, but one day it just wouldnt load up. My dad has got windows 7 but before he wipes the old drive clean I would like to find my old open tabs
It unexpectedly crashed so I still have about 30+ open tabs sitting somewhere on the hard drive and I have no clue where they are
Does anyone know where they are stored, or if there is a file I can transfer over which stores the open tabs?

    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\sessionstore.js
Use editor that have Word wrap feature (notepad++ is good). Keep in mind that this is a ~1MB text file, so there's a lot of unneeded information for you and it could get really slow.
Format is: [{"tabs": [{"entries": [{starting page},{next url},{next url}...], some data}, next entry (aka tab), next entry...}]. You need last url from each entry.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to access current opened tabs in one copmuter from a different computer

    Hi ,
I have 2 PC's & a android device , I want to access all the current opened tabs in PC 1 from PC 2.
I do not want to use the History as it is too long and mixed ...

    Hi,
Maybe the 'Sync'-option does work for you? Sync will synchronize your tabs. I think; when you login to Sync on your other device, the tabs will load automaticly. But I haven`t try it already. I hope it will work. :)

  • Using Sansung S3, not yet possible to share all the open tabs (using NFC) with another NFC phone. But only the one main tab I am currently browsing is possible.

Using Sansung S3, Android 4.1.2, Firefox 24.0; not yet possible to share all the open tabs (using NFC) with another NFC phone. But only the one main tab I am currently browsing is possible to share. Is this the feature of current NFC feature of Firefox?
If so, when will there be feature to share all the tabs?
    Thanks.

I'm not sure if we will implement this. Sharing all the tabs you have open have many more security and privacy issues. Someone forgets that they had a tab open they did not want to share or miss-clicks on the share all option.
We are looking into better ways to share tabs with devices that are nearby. Especially if they are on the same WiFi network.

    Question
I don't know how to set up closingFirefox to have all open tabs next time when I open it, without calling RESTORE PREVIOUS SESSION

    Tools > Options > General
:At the top '''When Firefox starts:''' Show my windows and tabs from last time
You can still bring up your home page later.

  • My current open tabs will not synch with Firefox Home

I have Firefox 5 and am trying to sync it with my iPhone using Firefox Home app. I can see my bookmarks and all of that, but it will not sync with my current open tabs. When I first set it up earlier today it synced with the 3 tabs that were open at the time. Now, when I hit refresh, it still shows the 3 original tabs.
Any help would be appreciated. I have tried hitting to refresh button, closing and opening both Firefox and Firefox Home. I also redid the sync and generated a new key. But still my tabs will not refresh.
    Thanks for any help!

Ty for looking into it. My husband went in and figured it out. I guess he is a lil more tech savey then me haha
