I would like to be able to sync my open tabs between my pc and my laptop. These are both used at home. When watching tv, I use the laptop and when I find something it would be great if the tab automatically showed up on my desktop when go it. I always have roughly 50 tabs open at once. I recently used found an add-on called Tabgroups Manager and great for organzing my open tabs. I have both pc's sitting in from of me. I set up Firefox Sync on both and correctly using the long code that was provided. However, my open tabs are not syncing. Is anyone else using these 2 add-ons together successfully? Or know what I may doing wrong? I have setup Sync on both, shut down Firefox on both, and then started Firefox on one and it is not working. Thanks for any suggestions.

Try upgrading your Mac to the newest version of OS X Mavericks, and try upgrading your iPhone and iPad to the newest version of iOS 7.

Before updating to FF 4.0, when I close, it warned me that I was about to close multiple tabs IT ALSO gave me the choice to save all open tabs (not bookmark) so they would all open once I opened FF again. Where is it???

When I close - it does still tell me that I am about to close multiple tabs... but it no longer gives me the option to save open tabs, NOT bookmark, SAVE open tabs. That way, the next time I open Mozilla, all the open tabs from my previous session would open once again. 'Save Open Tabs' is GONE - it would be very helpful to have it back. I don't use it all the time, but it was much easier to save open tabs when I wasn't able to finish what I was doing instead of having to search through the previous days history to find what I need when I start my next session!!!

Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

ITunes freezes / will not open / will not sync / will not detect Iphone

I am having numerous problems with iTunes. A few days ago iTunes began to freeze after opening, or not open at all. If it did open, it would not detect my iphone and would freeze when I plugged it in.
After reviewing these forums, I completely un-installed and re-installed iTunes, Quicktime, all the Apple Support applications, and Bonjour. I had to do this several times. I also ran anti-virus software, registry error software, disk-error checking software, with no results. I also ran a system restore to a date when iTunes was working. Eventually I got to a point where iTunes would open somewhat reliably, although slowly. However it would still not detect my iPhone, would often freeze after I connected my iPhone. Additionally, all of my audio files (music and podcasts) would not be detected by iTunes, and their associated libraries would show as empty, however the files were in the correct location on my hard drive.
I do not know what to do from this point...I have un-installed and re-installed iTunes upwards of a dozen times now, that can not be the problem. To the best of my knowledge, this problem began happening at random; I did not install any new software or make any changes to my system immediately prior to these problems occurring. Right now, after another re-install I am back to a point where I can't even get iTunes to open. Any help would be appreciated.
My System info:
Computer: Asus Notebook UL50VT/UL50Vg Series
OS: Windows 7 Home premium
iTunes version: iTunes 10.1.1 for Windows 64-bit
iPhone: 4.2.1

Try this open your music app and access the store from there first, once done then you can go to the iTunes store app, try it and see if it works

Firefox open tabs not displaying content

I open Firefox. The tabs are there...the favicons are there and URL titles...just not content...see screen capture.
BTW, EVERYTHING I try to open is DOG SLOW! Even in Safari opening URL is painfully slow.

I confirm the same. I reported the issue.
You can roll back to mavericks with time machine until it is resolved if you have a TM backup.

ICloud Tabs Not Syncing

I have tried to use iCloud tabs on two iOS devices, and tabs failed to sync. I have followed the support article for this, and no success. AppleCare couldn't help too well either.

Open tab not window from mail client?

Until recently, whenever I clicked a URL in a mail message (inside Thunderbird), the URL would open in a new Safari tab. Now it opens in a new Safari window.
I presume it's Safari that's controlling this. What preferences setting?

Linc Davis, thanks, that fixed things; I don't know why I didn't look on the Tabs pane of the preferences.
The problem arose after I had been forced to delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist in order to get Safari to add new bookmarks.
(That's a whole other issue: from time to time, Safari simply refuses to accept more bookmarks. Each time the solution is to delete that file, which for unknown reasons gets corrupted.)

Match does not sync new songs on a Smart Playlists to iPhone. This has worked in the past, but stopped with 12.1.

I have tried to turn Match off and on several times on both the computer (iTunes 12.1.0.50) and iPhone 6 (64 GB). It syncs correctly to my laptop, but not to iPhone 6 or 2nd Gen iPad (64GB) both running IOS 8.1.3. This seemed to work fine prior to iTune 12.1 on year old iMac. The only workaround I've found is to download the song to the phone (the songs do show up in the song listing). It then shows up in the playlist. However, I may not want all my music stored on the iPhone so this is not really workable.

When a new bookmark is added to one "device", Sync immediately sends that change to the Sync Server. And if you are watching a different "device" you should see the newly saved bookmark almost immediately. ''At least I have seen it happen that fast when Syncing between two Profiles on my desktop PC and I had both Profiles running and Tiled vertically, with the Bookmarks Sidebar open.''
Keep in mind that internet congestion and Sync Serve load may slow then seemingly "immediate" action down a bit.
As far as '''Tab''' Sync goes, open Tabs are Sync'd to the Server as Firefox is closed. I'm not sure, but I believe '''Tab History''' is Sync'd to the Server as each tab is closed.
I'm not sure if a complete Tab History is Sync'd to a tablet device, or if like on a mobile phone the last 25 or so URL's are sync'd as "history" to the mobile device.
Sorry, I can't advise you on whether to purge your data or to create another Sync account, I have never used those features. I am surprised that you don't have another email account to use to set up a 2nd account; it isn't that hard to create another email account at Gmail.

How can I move the open tabs down the address bar, like it was in the older version?

I love Firefox and been using it for a while, but the new version has some changes and they are kind of getting annoying.
I just need the open tabs not on top of the address/URL bar,
I just want them under the URL/address bar , like it was in the old version. Please guide me and walk me through how to do it.
I tried to look for it, but couldn't find it.

View > Toolbars and UNCHECK the 'Tab Bar on Top" option.

Accordion - change of focus/viewport when opening tab

Hi,
Developing a page that uses the spry accordion 1.5.
I have several long accordion tabs, say 6 tabs, and each tab
contains 5-10 paragraphs of information.
My issue is that on opening any tab (other than the first,)
the previous tab closes, and as the new tab opens, the focus of the
viewport moves to somewhere in the middle of the newly opened tab,
(where as I would prefer that the start of the newly opened tab not
to move off the screen, so it can be more easily read, without
scrolling back up)

As for your first issue...
You don't have to use a fixed panel size.
The problem is with IE as stated elsewhere in this forum.

Yes, the file extension is M4R. Does it matter where I save these files on my Macbook? I then opened them in Itunes and played them. I did find the Tones folder in Itunes but the Tones or Ringtones tab does not show up when I select Iphone (within Itunes). When I open the Tones folder in the Library, it is empty. Usually, when I reinstall Windows, I manually backup my Firefox bookmarks and open tabs, but because Sync has worked perfectly for me in the past, I didn't do it this time. I backed up all my other files and settings and whatnot from the rest of my system, then in Firefox I hit the Sync button (put in on the GUI so I see if it's syncing or done) for the last time, waited until the green rotating dot was gone, closed Firefox, shut down the system, formatted the drive and reinstalled Windows and Firefox. After setting up Sync I waited a while to make sure everything is on my system.
Then I wanted to have all the tabs and windows open as I had on the old system, so I went to the history and "tabs on other devices". I could already see from the small size of the list, that tabs were missing. I went through all of them, opened them and sorted them into windows.
-> Maybe about two thirds of the tabs I had open on my old system are gone!
Not just new tabs that might not have been synced (although the button showed sync was complete), but also old tabs (from weeks ago) that must have been synced before. Actually maybe especially or even only the old ones are lost. And the lost tabs are not just from one of the open windows, but from several.
What can I do to recover my lost tabs?
They contain important websites that I didn't bookmark yet, articles that I wanted to read, windows with dozens of tabs on a topic that I did some research for and stuff like that.
What does the green circle mean? Does it indicate that the sync is complete (to the Firefox servers) or just that the changes have been saved locally and set up for some next scheduled sync with the Firefox servers?

I always run the newest stable release of Firefox (v19 on both systems). Old system was Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation, new system is Windows 8 Pro. My used Sync quota is about 10 MB. I had 4 Firefox windows open with different amount of tabs in each of them, from 10 to maybe 80 with an overall amount of 150-200. Most of them weren't loaded. Firefox start is set to "load last session" and tabs are set to "load when selected". Memory usage 500 MB - 1 GB.

I have most of the items bookmarked. Having 200 - 300 tabs open saves time, since I don't have to go to the bookmarks, if the tabs are already open. One problem has been crashes, but as long as I can restore a previous session, I can still get to the data. I had quite a few tabs open when I was planning to purchase a new computer. I also follow the stock market, and the weather. I was also looking at various VIrtual Private Networking (VPN) sites. At one time, I probably had 20 - 50 tabs open, just for those. I did bookmark a few, but unfortunately lost the VPN tabs, when Firefox crashed. Even if I don`t go to a particular group of tabs very often, leaving it open is faster, especially since I will know where they are. I often put the computer in standby mode, rather than shutting it off, especially if I will remain in the same location.

Open tabs lost on exit after syncing

After selecting the new option to sync my settings with my new account, I selected to sync everything except for Passwords and History. But since then, Firefox does not save my open tabs, even though I selected that option. It does not appear to save them locally either.
Under Options -> General, I have "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time". I have tried restarting both Firefox and my PC (on which I just performed a fresh install of Win7 64-bit). Any new tabs I open are lost upon exiting. I did not sync my account prior to the Windows reinstall, and Firefox was preserving open tabs just fine after I had restored my profile following the reinstall. It was only after setting up the account syncing that this became an issue.

Thanks. When I tried "about:synced-tabs" earlier, I got:
The address isn't valid
The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.
Web addresses are usually written like http://www.example.com/
Make sure that you're using forward slashes (i.e. /).
I still get that error. However, some of the other about pages do work this time.
As for the about:sync-log, I was getting errors earlier today, but now it shows success. (Nothing has changed since this morning.) Sorry, don't know how to use pastebin.mozilla.org.
I did notice earlier that all the bookmarks in my bookmarks toolbar got corrupted, and I was forced to fix them manually by deleting everything and adding them back. I'm not sure if that's related. But, again, I only get an error why trying to look at about:synced-tabs.

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Copy all sessionstore files (e.g., sessionstore.bak, sessionstore.js) to a safe location (e.g., your Documents folder). Whatever was saved before is in one or both of those files.
This problem of a window sometimes loading the correct number of tabs but the tabs not being navigated to the corresponding pages has been mentioned before, but I do not recall anyone identifying what causes it or how to solve it. If Firefox saved the URLs of those pages, they will be in one or both of those sessionstore files.
These threads have suggestions on how to "mine" the old file to extract the URLs:

System requirements for using iCloud Tabs
Make sure that:
Your Macs have OS X Mountain Lion and Safari 6 installed
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch has iOS 6 installed
Keep in mind that while iCloud Tabs is only available for Macs with OS X Mountain Lion installed, and devices with iOS 6, you can still use normal iCloud Bookmarks to sync saved Bookmarks and Reading List content between any devices that meet the iCloud system requirements.

Sync open tabs

I thought Firefox Sync was supposed to sync open tabs. It doesn't seem to do anything like that, or am I missing something that should be obvious?
I primarily use Firefox on a remote desktop Windows OS but the delay when watching video is painful so I like to back out to my native Mac OS. I have FF Sync set up on both so I figured if I opened up my Mac FF while the remote Windows FF was still open to the page I wanted, it would give me that page. It doesn't. I tried Syncing before moving over but that didn't help either.
So what's the deal with Firefox Sync in regards to tabs? Is it supposed to sync my open tabs or not? If so, what do I need to do to make that happen?

Ah ha. No that's not the way I thought "tab syncing" worked (kind of deceptive to call a feature TAB syncing when it's really just a simple history sync) but at least that method will work for me. Thanks!
