Open Vi reference for Vis with same names

Using VI server, is there any way to open reference to a VI on the hard disk even thought a VI with the same name (but different path) is already loaded in memory? I'm trying to see if it's possible without renaming and making sure every single VI I use has a distinct name.

For now, I can give different names but as the # of modules increases, it will be hard to have some Vis that don't have the same name.
It wont be tough to keep distinct names.
Just prefix or suffix your module name to the original VI name, so that you SDs will have VIs with same/similar functionality, but never conflict with each other when called during run-time. This is the procedure we follow in our project currently. We have gone ahead with the extent of packing all the DUT SDs (LLBs) into one complete auto-installer, so that in the target PC, everything get unbundled & installed into the appropriate folders that we have added while creating the installer.

  • How to get Unique calid for users with same name in multiple domain env..

I found we need to use "-k legacy" option for creating users in non-hosted setup..
I had two domains default as xxxx.com and the one that I created as yyyy.com
When I have users with same name in two of the domains as user1..
The calid for both of them is... user1 ....so they share the same calendar
When Im in valid SSO of yyyy.com I get the mail account for user1 as [email protected] .....but the calid .. common as user1
How I can get unique calid for users under two domains..
whether I need to set Hosted domain support...Then how the mailid's differ with out using hosted domain support..
And I need to login UWC without using @domain.com...
    Help me on this...
    Ashik

Do you have UWC and Cal configured at least for virtual domain support?
basically.. for discussion.. let's say you have three domains on your server.. 1st domain is the default domain. other 2 domains are virtual domains.
if all domains were created with mail and cal support (-S mail,cal).. you would use the following options when creating users:
    1) for the default domain.. you must use the "-k legacy" option when adding users.
    2) for the other two domains.. when you create the user.. do NOT use a "-k" option.
If you do not use the "-k" option.. it defaults to "hosted" which will cause the user's calid to be [email protected]
If you Do use the "-k legacy" option.. it will create the calid as just "userid"
With regard to logging into UWC without the @domain.com part of a username in a hosted domain.. the easiest way to avoid this.. is to point a host name under the hosted domain to the server.
if you point webmail.xxxx.com to the server... and then access it via:
    http://webmail.xxxx.com/uwc/
any users in the xxxx.com hosted domain will NOT need to use @xxxx.com when logging in... they can just use "userid"
This feature does not take any special configuration (aside from adding a DNS entry for the hosted domain)
    Hopefully that helps.

  • Compare VIs with same name under LabVIEW 8?

    Hi,
if I remember correctly, LabVIEW 8 can now load VIs with the same name into memory, which means that a comparison between two VIs having the same name should work. Nevertheless, I get the same message like in older LabVIEW versions when trying to load those two VIs. Is there a fast and simply way for such a comparison without renaming one of the VIs?
    Regards,
    Gabs

Of course gmart is right, I was talking of the project libraries. I know I should not have called them Vi libraries
Here is soem information as it can be found inside the LabVIEW help:
    LabVIEW Project Libraries
    LabVIEW project
libraries are collections of VIs, type definitions, shared variables,
palette menu files, and other files, including other project libraries. When you
create and save a new project
library, LabVIEW creates a project library file (.lvlib), which includes the properties of the project
library and references to the files that the project library owns.
Project libraries are useful if you want to organize files into a
single hierarchy of items, avoid potential VI name duplication, limit public
access to certain files, limit editing permission for a collection of files, and
set a default palette menu for a group of VIs.
You can view the structure of a project library from the
Project Explorer window or in a stand-alone project library
window. If the Project Explorer window is not open, navigate to
a project library file to open it in the project library window.
    You also can create
project libraries from folders in a project.
Use project libraries to organize a virtual, logical hierarchy of
items. A project library file does not contain the actual files it owns, unlike
an LLB, which is a physical file that contains VIs. Files that a project library
owns still appear individually on disk in the directories where you saved them.
A project library might have a different organizational structure than its files
    on disk.
Use project libraries to qualify the names of VIs and other
LabVIEW files. LabVIEW identifies VIs by filename. If you load a VI with the
same name as a VI already in memory, LabVIEW uses the VI already in memory, an
issue known as cross-linking. When a VI is part of a project library, LabVIEW
qualifies the VI name with the project library name to avoid cross-linking. A
qualified filename includes the filename and the owning project library
    filename.regards

  • How To Show Different Artwork For CD With Same Name?

In 2002, Chris Botti released a holiday CD named December. In 2006 he also released another CD named December with the only difference being track 2 (Ave Maria) & track 7 (I Really Don't Want Much For Christmas which are not included on the 2002 release. These are not additional tracks but replace 2 songs from the original 2002 release. The album art is different for both CDs. So, how can I show these two CDs with the same name and same artist but with different artwork in Cover Flow mode? Help!
    iMac G5 1.8 Ghz iMac 1.8 GHz G5 17" Mac OS X (10.4.8) 1.5 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If you store Album artwork the way i described using Command I (get info) - then the artwork is actually EMBEDDED in each song and is carried with that song wherever it goes.. and in this case it doesnt matter if u had 3 copies of the same album - all identical. You could even save a diff image for each tarck if u wanted.
If there is no artwork embedded, then coverflow places the image in a separate folder that is only referenced by iTunes for the whole CD.
You also might want to turn off coverlfow and continue doing what u had been doing in the past - add you won.
I also think i know what may be happening. You say they are identical except for track 2 - But problem is - I don't think iTunes can handle 2 identical CD's from the same artist.
    Here's an experiment:
Goto any of the songs.... right-click and select "Show in Finder" the Finder will open and show you the song file and its location. Do you see one album once or 1 album twice?
If you see 2 of everything, i would recommend the following:
Rename the first album "December (2002)" and the second "December (2006)" then iTunes will definately separate them out.

  • Search multiple folders for files with same name and create single file

I have a project where I need to search multiple folders for a file name and when found append data from each file to a single input file.
     Example
    root folder to start search
    \\servera\sales
    \\servera\it\salesa\cmmstr.txt
    \\servera\it\salesb\cmmstr.txt
    \\servera\it\salesc\cmmstr.txt
I need to create a a single cmmstr.txt on the root folder. I would like it to be able to run this with parms to pass in folders to search and file names to search and single file name to create. I'm going to have a least 10 differnt files to
search for and create output file for. The folders to search
    will somewhat be static.
     Thanks.

I tested this out on my own seat and I think it should work for you. I wrote it as a function, all you have to do is pass the root folders you want to search and the file your looking for. The function will then search that directory and all sub directories
for that file name. you will also have to provide it a file to append to, if the file dosen't exists the function will create it. If you run into an issues let me know and the links Mike
Laughlin posted are a great resource.
    Function Search-Files{
    Param([String[]]$Locations, $SearchFor, $AppendTo)
    Begin
    If(-Not (Test-Path $AppendTo)){New-Item $AppendTo -ItemType File -Force}
    Process
    ForEach($Location in $Locations)
    $Files = Get-ChildItem -Path $Location -Filter $SearchFor -Recurse
    ForEach($File in $Files)
    Get-Content -Path $FIles.FullName | Out-File $AppendTo -Append
    End{}
    Search-Files -Locations "\\Server1\c$\Temp", "\\Server1\c$\Test1" -SearchFor "Install.cmd" -AppendTo "C:\Temp\Search.log"

  • How to separate two contact with same name

Hi, anyone knows how to separate two contacts with same name in Contacts?  Actually they are two persons from two gmail contacts with same name but different contact numbers, different emails....etc, but Contacts assume they are same person and merge them as one!

    FG,
In Lion, you have the File > Duplicate option. You will then have two copies of your document open, and the one on top will have the temporary filename "OriginalFileName copy", and your next responsibility is to File > Save (or Command-S) and rename the duplicate. At this point, you edit the copy's name, to perhaps ...copy 1, or whatever you wish. The document you had open when you initiated the File > Duplicate will still be there on your screen, waiting for you to Close it or continue editing.

  • How to create device IDs with same name

i am using SE 3310 and its creating different device ids for each node sharing it . since I will be building a RAC enviornment I need these IDs/name to be same .
for example  on one node the lun id is /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0s6  but the same lun id on node 2 is /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s6.
In past with an old storage array I fixed this issue by creating links  in /dev/rdsk for  c3t0d0s6 --->  c2t0d0s6.
my question is : is there a way in SE3310 that device ids get created with same name or do i still have to rely on creating these soft links ?
    thanks
Note: since i need the answer to this quickly i will wait a while and then post this question in other forums and i will update the question here with the answer .

This could be a Solaris (I presumed) O.S. question rather than SE3310 or storage question.
The logical device (/dev/[r]dsk/*) is the work of the O.S. when it first configures the device,  in this case the LUN from your SE3310.   I can go in depth on how the cX number happens (due to device probe order, driver differences, history of device discovery due to need of persistent device naming, etc...) but ... it's a really long story and is really quite irrelevant and most people should not be interested...
If you have COMPLETELY identical servers, i.e. identical hardware down to specific HBA in specific slot are the same,   and if you make sure that luns are presented to all servers exactly the same way, same order, and any changes are seen by all servers in the same sequence,  in theory,  all /dev/rdsk/* devices will be consistent across servers.
But that's still rather irrelevant.    Application that is designed to work in a redundant environment should not be dependent on logical devices like /dev/rdsk being the same.
So ... in effect this is also not a question for the Solaris forum,  but rather a question for those familiar with RAC,  how to configure such that device access is done "safely" through actually identifying the lun rather than assuming /dev/rdsk are consistent.

    Hello,
In R12 it is possible to create 2 employee with same name but different employee number.

Yes you can. Make sure that domains configured to use different multicast address. WLS uses multicast for communications between nodes in domain.
although your configuration will work, you could have troubles if you going to execute inter-domain calls between domains/servers with the same names.

  • Automator and applescript to copy new files in a folder with same name as parent folder

I have an iMac with a pictures folder (Finder folder) containing several subfolders with pictures. As per now, all these subfolders are imported into an iPhoto library (and the structure of the Finder pictures folder is thus maintained: The iPhoto events are named the same as the Finder subfolder). I.e. I have not created any albums in iPhoto.
I have also set up a workflow, where new iPhone photos are automatically being synced to specified Finder folders within the iMac pictures folder. So what I want to do is to make a workflow to import potential new photos from week to week into the existing iPhoto structure. I know iPhoto has this Autoimport folder, so this one is unpacked and "mapped". So, this is what I´m hoping to do:
Automator (iCal - want to do this on a weekly basis):
    - Get specified Finder items -- set to target folder = iMac pictures folder
    - Get folder content (with subfolders)
    - Filter Finder items
         - Items from the last 7 days (which then would be any new files created last week)
    - Applescript/shell script loop(?)
         - Get folder name for each file´s (from previous step) parent folder
         - Create new folder with same name as the file´s parent folder (if not already existing) under the iPhoto Autoimport folder
         - Copy the given file into the folder from above
    - Run iPhoto application (Automator task), which then should just auto import the new photos according to the Finder folder structure
Whith the workflow above, I aim to maintain the existing iPhoto structure, and just import new photos into the existing structure. Creating folder names under the Autoimport, similar as the existing Finder folder names / iPhoto events should make it possible to have the new files imported under the existing event, right?

    Anyone?
I have now switched to Aperture (from iPhoto) due to Aperture´s capability to handle Finder folder structure, and due to the possibility of having the pictures within Aperture as referenced files to the pictures within the Finder folders (i.e. possibility to delete pictures from both library and Finder folder at the same time).
So I have a superior Finder folder called "Album". Within "Album" I have several subfolders (sub albums) containing pictures. The "Album" folder with subfolders are imported into Aperture as "Projects and albums", and the pictures are uploaded within the Aperture structure as referenced files. So for now the Aperture structure is more or less a direct mirror of the Finder folder structure, whereas "Album" is the project.
And this is my current workflow in Automator, but I´m searching help with my Applescript:
    - Get specified Finder items (target folder = the superior Finder folder "Album")
    - Get Folder content
    - Filter Finder items (to look for potential new files to import into Aperture)
         - Kind is not folder
         - Date created last X days
The output files from this task enters an Applescript
    on run {input, parameters}
repeat with f in input (**Loop**)
                   tell application "Finder"
set fileName to name of (f)
set parentFolder to name of container of (f)
                          tell application "Aperture"
                                 tell library 1
                                        tell project "Album"
                                               if (exists album parentFolder) then
** I then would like to check if fileName already exist within the existing album**
** If not existing, I would like to import file f into the existing album as a referenced file**
else if not (exists album parentFolder) then
                                                       make new album with properties {name:parentFolder}
** I then would like to import file f into the new album as a referenced file**
                                               end if
                                        end tell
                                 end tell
                          end tell
                   end tell
           end repeat
    end run

  • Error while uploading document with same name in Document library

    Hi,
Whenever I try to upload document with same name in Document library it throws an error. I know its a default behavior but is there any way so that I can upload documents with same name or can we append some unique id with title of the document?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

No, unfortunately this is not possible. SharePoint treats the file name as the primary key identifier for a document so if you try to upload a second document with the same name it will assume this is a new version of the file. If you have versioning enabled
on the document library, it will add this as a new version. If not, it will overwrite the original file with the new one.
If you need two documents with the same name, you will have to either place them in different folders within a document library or in different document libraries.

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Preetam,
I believe it's not allowed, use different operation name.
A wsdl:portType in a DESCRIPTION MUST have operations with distinct values for their name attributes.
This applies only to the wsdl:operations within a given wsdl:portType. A wsdl:portType may have wsdl:operations with names that are the same as those found in other wsdl:portTypes.
why do you need multiple operation with same message type?

  • Creating  file on network with same name

    Hello All,
I have created the A0001BOE20060001.txt file on my machine & i want to create same file with same name on the different machine,
i m able to copy all data in that file & recreate it on the server but i have problem with how to GET same file Name
As i m creating a new file & writing data on the 1.txt which i m creating on the server
How should i recognize the file name & create the same file on the server????

    Is this on Windows?
I believe that java.io.File works with UNC paths. For example, if you have a network resource on the share myshare on machine my-pc, you could do something like:
    File f = new File( "\\\\my-pc\\myshare\\myfolder\\myfile.txt" );
Note that you have to escape backslashes. You'll also want to be sure that you have permission to access the share - it won't prompt you for a password, so you must have already authenticated using Explorer or net use.
    Thanks,
    Brian

It's more than annoying, it's downright driving me nuts. In the last hour I had to quit Mail seven times.
