How can I prevent Safari opening the website from mobile version? Thanks!

You can't, it's not one of the settings that you can change. Other browsers do have settings that allow them to identify themselves as something else (Internet Exploter, desktop Safari, Firefox etc e.g. Atomic Web (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/atomic-web-browser-browse/id347929410?mt=8), and iCab might as well (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icab-mobile-web-browser/id308111628?mt=8# - not entirely sure as I havn't got iCab)

Why does my browser keep on opening things in mobile version and not desktop version?

hi everyone,
i just picked up my imac today and i'm trying to get used to it. here's one of many questions i have:
why do certain pages like facebook and hotmail sign in always open up in the mobile version and not desk top? how can i change the settings so that things will open only in the desk top version?
i went into develop and clicked on the latest safari but that didn't do anything.
it's annoying changing it every time i go into those sites.
any help would be much appreciated.

Read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
Step 1
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.Safari
Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
Caches/Metadata/Safari
Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Safari again.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
rm -fr $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.Safari
Quit Terminal. Launch Safari and test.
Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
PubSub/Database
Safari
(Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that will have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

Safari opens google with mobile view after switching User Agent

Hello, as from the discussione title, i had to switch safari's user agent from the default to Safari iOS 5.1 - iPhone for changes to m.google.com/sync i had to make on my WP8. After the changes were done, i ticked user agent back to default, but now when i open google homepage it opens me the mobile version of google and i have to click on CLASSIC in order to make it work. What's wrong?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test.

Some mobile phone networks implement something called a transparent proxy. No inherently a bad idea, but in this particular instance it is a bit annoying.. Basically it intercepts your web traffic and "optimises" it for mobile clients. This is actually fairly nice for crummier phones that perhaps can't cope with complex HTML or large images (or flash)
As radical said, some sites however are optimised themselves.. The website will serve different content when it detects that the client (in this case, your phone) is a mobile device or if the client is coming from a mobile network company (rare, but happens) .. Also helpful.. I think Orange in the UK may intercept graphics files and reduce re-compress them into smaller versions..but I've never tested/looked into it closely enough to know for sure
The first you may be able to do something about. Some phone networks have an "opt-out" facility. This may be a slightly different APN. Not all networks offer it, so your milage may vary.
The second is out of your control, unless you get some freaky browser for the N97 that can pretend to be a desktop (a bit like Opera can pretend to be IE)
I'm lead to believe that the chances of doing anything about it are fairly slim if you happen to suffer from the problem

Mobile version of website – not filling the screen

I'm building a mobile version of a website and I want the site to be 221 pixels wide to fit nicely into a mobile device's screen. However, when the site is viewed from a cell phone, it comes up tiny and I have to zoom in to get it to fill the screen.
Anyone know how to make it open zoomed in already?

This solution works great for iPhone but have noticed that it does not work for PC or Blackberry phones. The code I used to fit the page to the screen was "

GETTING TO THE FULL WEBSITE...NOT THE MOBILE VERSION!

I have done numerous searches on thi site and have not gotten a definitive answer.
When I use my iPhone 3G at NFL.com, I would prefer the full website and NOT the mobile version. How can I force opening the full website on my iPhone?
There are no choices on the mobile website that I can click.

Depends if NFL.com is flash or Java. Then it won't open. But as said above it is the sites choice or programming that gives you mobile or full type. JUst curious are you on 3G or wifi?

Why can I only see the mobile version of certain websites instead of the full site?

some website are shown only in mobile version instead or full version, even when I click on the link that says "full site" I get redirected to the mobile version. This only happens in Firefox since I've tried other browsers too.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Google Docs open in Mobile Version on Mac Air

Every time I use Google Docs on my Mac Bk Air, it launches in the 'Mobile version'. I have to then scroll to the bottom to click on 'Desktop', then continue to next page to click on 'Continue to desktop version' to finally get to the desktop version.
Annoying!
Is there a way to change a setting somewhere so that Google Docs does not detect the touch-pad on my Mac Bk Air and think its a mobile devise?
I've tried to ask in Google Groups but no answers or reply.

On my Mac, my file settings are set this way and I can open them in Windows. See if you notice differences in your settings.
Correct them if so, and try again.

Muse website Mobile version not displayed correctly

I have created a website for a client in Adobe Muse. When viewing and testing the Business Catalist version looked fine. Now when I uploaded it to the live version, only the first page of the Mobile version is displayed correctly, the rest is wrong. Images at bottom instead of top etc. I don't know where to start looking?

Problem solved! Some css files did not upload correctly, re-uploaded them, now everything works fine.

My device is bit advance able to do many things how this website not working even on mozilla firefox i am shocked.
Please help me.

Search picks up desktop version rather than mobile version of website on smartphone

ive ive recently added a mobile version of my muse website. However I've notiiced that when searching for a freelance creative artworker and selecting my site www.paulsutton-artwork.co.uk on my android phone, it's loading up the desktop version and not the mobile version?
im confused!
could anyone shed any light on this please.

ive typed in the domain name on my smartphone and it's bringing up the desktop version. I've checked again doing a search for Freelance Creative Artworker and when I see my URL I click on it but it's still bringing up desktop version. The only time it brings up phone version is if I type www.paulsutton-artwork.co.uk/phone/index?
id also like to add that as a test I published my site via bc. Strangely enough if I type in the bc URL on my phone it loads up the mobile site, so it appears to work on bc. So does this look like it's something to do with way files are being uploaded to be web host? I've also read someone had a problem with a htaccess file?
ive ive now tried uploading all files via FTP. Still the same result. I've notiiced that my phones URL is now showing www.paulsutton-artwork.co.uk/index.html?devicelock=desktop
can someone please help me with this as I'm tearing my hair out!

Defaulting to mobile versions of websites

Many websites seem to default to their mobile versions when accessing them from the ipad. Most then don't allow you to opt to access the full website...any ways to overcome this?
Also for the past week 80% of the time when the yahoo website is clicked on it automatically defaults to some site called mediaplex, which is weird. This happen to anyone else, any possible reasons? Thanks.

The iPad is not a netbook or a computer replacement. The iPad runs the iPhone OS, which is an optimized version of OS X, so the full Safari version available for a Mac and a Windows PC is not available with the iPad. Safari on the iPad is detected as a mobile version of Safari. Most of the websites I visit that redirect me to the mobile version for the website include an option - a link to view the full version of the website and when selected, this is saved as a cookie.
