Open Window Behavior not behaving

Hi,

In the footer, the "multimedia" link should pop a 700 by 500 windows (no toolbar) which contains a flash anim of same size.
But as i tested with IE 6.0, safari 4.0.3 and firefox 3.5.3 they all first open the popup window, then a bigger screen (with toolbar) which
contains the flash file. The popup window remains blank.
What can i do to fix that? Did i do something wrong? I followed the procedure described in doc.

Using DW 8 on Mac and can't get this Open Browser Window
behavior to work in IE 6 on a Windows machine. Any

This page is a GoLive page, and it throws a js error when it
loads because
of some of the GoLive code you have left therein.
I see that link as orange in IE6. And when you click on the
link, you throw

Open Browser Window behavior not working

Just getting started with DW from GL - have successfully imported a few sites into DW from GL and am having trouble getting the Open Browser Window behavior to work. Worked fine in GL, code is similar but different. Have tried different things and am out of ideas. I'm not too code-savy.

When a user clicks on the red "more..." links they should open a new browser window like they do in the "Click
here for previous years..." section.
Any help would be appreciated!

bregent, thanks for your input but unfortunately most of that's greek to me. Could you either supply me with sample code for one of these links or explain what I'm doing wrong in the design mode? I've followed DW instructions and as far as I can tell I'm doing what I'm supposed to in the behaviors tag inspector. Not sure about some of the settings I should have when browsing for the linked file to open in the new browser window. What should the parameters be set to? What should the relative link be set to, document or site root? How about some of the other options like Select file name from: data sources, server, site root? I've messed with them and tried different combinations but nothings working for me.

Lightroom window behavior Not like all other Mac apps

Please Fix This:
When I click on the red button while in Lightroom (at the top of the window on the left, ref: the three buttons: red, yellow and green) it quits Lightroom.
This button usually (always) just closes the open window and does not shut down the app in all CS apps and all other apps I've ever known of on the Mac. This needs to be fixed to make Lightroom conform in behavior to other Macintosh applications.

Seriously, you need to think of Lightroom as a different sort of application.
It's not an image manipulation app like Photoshop and it;s not s simple lite–duty app like iCal. If you reduce your expectations on what you "think" Lightroom "should be doing, you'll end up being less frustrated....
Lightroom's main function is keeping track where the fu%&# are your images...
When the Michael & Seth show becomes available later this summer, you'll see just how important "where the fuc&$%# are my images" can become...

Open window is not visible!!

Hello Experts,
We are using BPC 7.5 M sp04, SQL Server 2008, Office 2007.
On one of our client laptops having Windows7 and Office 2007 is having the problem (emerged few days ago) that certain dialog (pop-up) windows appear only in the Windows' taskbar but the window itself is not visible. The main Excel session window switches to waiting (non-responsive) mode until the open window is closed using right-click menu at the taskbar.
This applies to the following commands: eTools->Open Dynamic Template, eTools->Save [Dynamic Template] As, eSubmit->Open Schedule Library, eAnalyze -> Open Report Library.
What could be causing this issue. Please Advice.

Hi Rohit,
I don't think it's a BPC issue maybe for some reason the pop-up are out of screen, if so right-click on the taskbar icon, click on move you will see the pointer that change with the for arrows then use one of the arrows key on the keyboard and you should see automatically the pop-up.

Open/Place Dialog not behaving like other apps - win 7 64bit

I just recently switched from mac to windows at work. It was also a jump from orginal CS(mac) to CS5(win). One thing I am having a problem with is that I can't create shortcuts/favorites on the left in those open/place/save dialog windows. All I get is a static frame with Recent Places, Desktop, Libraries, Computer and Network. But no Favorites. I can't even expand them in to trees. I can't right click on the icons or in that pane. The only thing I can do is left click and it opens up the view they represent. In other programs, such as Firefox, OpenOffice or Notepad, you have a Favorites selection and you can drag stuff over to it at any time.
Is there any way to get that behavior in the Windows version of CS5?
I work on a weekly newspaper and do lots of placing from many different locations through the week. I used to set up the new shortcuts at the beginning of the week on the Mac but haven't figured out how to do that in CS5 on Windows. By having to browse back and forth to those different folders I am losing about an hour or more of productivity over the course of a week. It really hurts as we approach our deadline.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since Desktop is always a choice, consider creating a single Desktop folder and placing shortcuts to the directories and subdirectories in it. The more Desktop items, the greater impact on resources and performance, but a single folder that contains other items counts as one item.
If your files are kept on a network drive, Desktop can contain a shortcut to a shortcut folder on the common drive and all users can create shortcuts to it.

Mail Viewer window does not behave according to Apple User Guidelines

I offer this up hoping that an Apple Mail engineer will see it.
Why, oh why can we not click on an open, visible Mail Viewer window in the background and bring it up to the frontmost application unless that click happens in the Mail Viewer Toolbar???
No other application misbehaves this way.
Long overdue for a fix, imo.

this does not need a fix as it doesn't behave like that (on my Mac).
Any part of that window that sticks out behind the top view application is enough to bring that window forward.

Is there any way on Mountain Lion to get the dashboard to overlay my open windows but not switch me to another screen?

I love the idea of widgets on Mountain Lion but when I try to open the dashboard I am always redirected to another screen that pulls them up. Is there any way to have the dashboard show up like the launchpad does, as a screen that overlays my current work but doesn't change my screen? I want to be able to check out information at a glance or write on a sticky note without having to manuever over to another window and then switch back. I saw this done by another Mac user but idk if they had Mountain Lion. All help would be GREATLY appreciated.

ITunes downloaded, but does not open-Windows does not support Mac script

I have recently bought a Toshiba laptop with pre-installed Windows Vista. I have managed to download iTunes, but I cannot open it. The computer posts a message saying that it does not support Mac script. I suppose that I need additional software (daemon tools?)? I would be grateful if someone could advise me in relation to this issue.

No, you should need nothing additional. I suspect you may have tried to download the Mac compatible version of iTunes & that's why your getting this message. Make sure you have checked the Windows version & nothe Mac version on the download page.

HT2521 A pop up window in my safari is not closing. Even after several clicks on OK it keeps popping up. And the open window is not allowing me to use the Safari nor is it allowing to restart/Shutdown the Mac. Please help me rectify this error.

Force Quit .
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select Safari, if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
Application will quit.
If this does not help, press the power button for 7 or more seconds.
Computer will shut down.
Restart.
Hold the shift key down and launch Safari.

Open Window Action/Behavior

I am use to creating an open window action in GL CS that uses a normal link to the page plus target="_blank" so that if the user has JS disabled, it will still open in a new window, though without cool JS specs.
However, I can not get this to work the same in DW CS3. When I set the open window behavior up in the "same" way, it both opens a new window set by the JS as well as opening a new window in accordance with the target instruction.
Here are examples:

Other than creating this in GL, then cutting and pasting the script into DW, what can I do to make this work "correctly" when created in DW? Is their another behavior somewhere that will work the way I am use to?

Hi Nate,
There is no onclick=event that I can find in the DW version. In fact, there is hardly any JS code at all--at least in comparison to the GL version. So, I have no clue how to add a return false. I do understand the philosophy, but JS is currently beyond me.

ITunes Windows do not come to the front when app is selected

When I Command-Tab to bring iTunes to the front, the open window does not come into focus. This behaviour is definitely not following human interface guidelines. It's the same when I click iTunes from the dock.

I'm having the same issue. It takes two clicks to bring iTunes window to the front. App switching or clicking on the dock icon will activate the application, but will not bring the iTunes window forward. I either have to click on the dock icon a second time or select iTunes in the app switcher again. Very strange.

Open browser behavior does not work properly

I have quite a few websites in subfolders to my root website. I have tried using the open browser behavior to open a smaller resized html page in two of these subfolders. When I apply this behavior it causes about 20 windows to open up of this page.
However, I have another subfolder where the behavivor works perfectly.
What could be causing this error. All these websites are created with templates. Maybe this has something to do with it.
A quick second question. I use ico files to have an image in the url. Everything I have read and the way I used to get this to work was to put these images in the root level. However, using template, they have to be put in the templates folders to work. I don't remember have I came to discover this. Why is this?
I really would like some input to the open browser behaviror problem. Any help will be appreciated.

It's hard to say what the problem could ber without seeing the page in question. Could you post a link to a live page?
The actual .dwt template (if it's being used correctly) is only used by DW, you do not need to upload it to your actual web server or place your .ico file within it. You may have a link in the head section of your template that is pointing to the .ico file within the wrong folder, and that could be causing the issue.

I have a solution to this issue now after a discussion with Apple Support. Some where in the last few weeks, there was a change in the key that would do a Show Desktop under the Mission Control settings in the System Preferences. Even though the key sequence that was shown for the Show Desktop setting did not include the Left SHift key, by changing this first to having no key sequence and applying that and then changing it back to the F11 key, the Left SHift key issue that I was having has cleared up.
A second issue that was uncovered was that the SSD had some issues (uncovered when I ran Disk Utility using the Repair Disk key). I had to restart and use the Disk Utility through the Command R sequence to get to the stand alone Disk Utility. The SSD appears to be running better as a result as well.
Hope that this is of use to someone else in the future.
