Open with command not working in yosemite properly

I want to open images into adobe photoshop (either photoshop CC or Elements) using 'open with' command but i get an error message screen instead. This has only happened since i upgraded to Yosemite. ALSO
If i try and 'open with' to Perfect Photo Suite i get an error in that program saying failed to communicate with background action.
If i try and 'open with' to Canon Digital photo professional the program launches but no photo is displayed.
If i launch any of the above programs then select open in the programs and navigate to the file they all work ok.

Open file command not working... suggestions?

Running InDesign CS6 on Mac OSX 10.8.5. When I go to open a file from InDesign, I can use Command-Arrow Up and Command-Arrow Down to navigate up and down through folders, but then when I select the file I wish to open, another Command-Down Arrow does NOT open the file. Command-O works, but that's not the issue.
Command-Down Arrow DOES open files in Photoshop, Illustrator, and from the finder (even InDesign documents). Command-Down Arrow DOES open files in InDesign at work, where I'm running both CS3 and CS5 on a slightly older iMac.
InDesign's keyboard shortcuts clearly show that both Command-O and Command-Down Arrow are set as "Open file" key shortcuts.
I've trashed my prefs and restarted.
At my wits end, because Google has revealed that the internet has never heard of this problem. Anyone have any ideas?

I'll definitely ask at a Mac forum as well, though the Command-down arrow does work as it should in the Finder (as well as other apps, internet, adobe, etc) and it does work properly in InDesign except for that last "Open file" command. Apple lists "Command-Down" as being the keyboard shortcut for "Open highlighted file" so I'm wondering if there is some sort of conflict at play here, though I can't find one.
This morning, I checked on my wife's computer, and it's reproduceable. Command-Down works except for opening a file from inside of InDesign (or placing a file). She's running CS6, on Mavericks (not sure what exact version).
So I'm lead to believe this is inherent to only InDesign, and only CS6. Can anyone else reproduce this? (Perhaps it's simply an existing issue with CS6.) If it's simply how InDesign CS6 behaves and everyone has the same result, I could live with that; after all, Enter and Command-O will still work. I'm just trying to isolate the cause, be it InDesign or OSX. If I CAN fix it, I would love to, because I use that shortcut all day long at work and while it does only save a fraction of a second, it does add up over the week, not to mention muscle memory confuses the heck out of me when I get home and suddenly files stop opening for me.
It's like losing a pencil... insignificant and easily worked around, but I hate not knowing. Whether it be where my missing pencil is or why a key shortcut behaves strangely. Thanks!

Right click Open With sometimes not working (Photoshop Elements 9, Windows Vista)

We recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 7 to Photoshop Elements 9. We are running Windows Vista.
Last night, my wife was right clicking on JPEG images in her My Pictures subfolders and choosing "Open With" to open the files with Photoshop Elements. In some cases, this worked. In other cases she would right click the file, Adobe Photoshop Elements would start, but the picture itself would not display.
I tested one of these pictures and was able to open it with other applications, and was able to open it by choosing "Open" from Photoshop Elements' file menu.
Has anyone run into this before? Why are some pictures not opening when you right-click and use "Open With"?

you can make PSE9 default program for opening any image on you vista machine.
Then it souhld work fine.

"Open With" CS3 not working for JPEG file

Operating system is XP. I am trying to get CS3 to automatically open all JPEG files when I double click on them in windows explorer.
I open windows explorer, right click on the image that I want to open, then click "open with" ....
...at this point CS3 is not one of the choices on the "open with" menu so I already smell a problem ....
..... so I click "choose program" and navigate to the adobe photoshop cs3 folder and point to photoshop.exe, then click the "always use the selected program" box, click open, and bada-boom, bada-bing, the image opens in photoshop CS3, right? WRONG.
The image opens in the Quicktime Picture Viewer program and NOT IN PHOTOSHOP CS3.
I feel that I have entered the Twilight Zone, otherwise known as The Adobe Messed Up Someting In The Registry Upon CS3 Install Zone. Does anyone have any hints on how to get PS CS3 working as the default program for JPEGs when I double click them from explorer on my XP computer?

After a long search I found the answer:
To associate all jpeg files with Photoshop CS3 so that they will open into CS3 when double clicked:
Click Start, Run and type in: Control Folders.
Click the file Types Tab.
Wait for the list of file types to populate.
Single click on the jpeg file type.
Click the Advanced button.
Highlight open and click the edit button.
Browse to the location of photoshop.exe in the CS3 folder.
A few OK's and you are done.
AND ANOTHER THING .........
After the change above was made, jpg files would open directly to photoshop cs3 when doubleclicked, but the maintained the same goofy quicktime pictureviewer icon when viewed in windows explorer. To change the icon for jpeg files displayed in all folders to the photoshop icon, do this:
Start / My Computer
Click Tools at the top of the screen.
Click folder options .... then the file types tab
Click on jpeg in the list and click the advanced button
Click change icon and browse to the photoshop.exe for CS3
A list of ocon choices will appear .... I chose the second row first icon
A couple of OKs and you are done

Reminders App does not work on Yosemite with two iCloud accounts.

The Reminders App does not work on Yosemite (10.10.1) with two iCloud accounts. It seems like when there are two iCloud accounts connected in Yosemite (10.10.1) the plist file for Reminders disappears.
I have tried restarting Reminders; restarting the mac; starting the mac in recovery mode to repair the disk and disk permissions; and starting the mac in recovery mode and reinstalling OSX.

Yes sharing Reminders list works. The problem is, I have one shared iCloud account with a colleague (shared calendar, Reminders and email). It makes it easier to run our business with a single shared iCloud account...I know it's not the typical usage.

See if the Internet Explorer shortcut has that keyboard shortcut assigned to it.

OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system also Yosemite
Try deleting the printer and scanner and add them back.
Also try Applications/Image Capture to see if it can find the printer and scanner.

Scan to network folder will not work for Yosemite

Scan to network folder, which is supposed to allow the unit to scan and save to a shared directory on a remote computer, does not work in Yosemite, though it will work on Macs sporting earlier OS on same network.
HP personnel have indicated that HP does not support Apple Mavericks. One can only assume then that it will not work on Yosemite either
Yet these units are still being sold to be used with Apple OSX.
Please resolve HP's position. If these units will not function properly under Mavericks and Yosemite, please explicitly say so. The scan to network feature should not have anything to do with any OS issue, and it is much more likely that the issue is faulty HP firmware.
If these units are supposed to fully function under Mavericks and Yosemite, please provide substantive resolution of the many many problems users have experienced.
The Scan to Network feature is what makes using these units viable as scanners. The fact that this works poorly at best, and not at all on any recent Apple OS, is simple acceptable

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

CS5, Windows 7 and the 'OPEN WITH' command fails

I am having an 'issue' with the OPEN WITH command under Windows 7.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (fully updated) edition and my system meets all of the advertised Adobe requirements.
If I open Photoshop CS5 (64-bit); it will work OK and as expected in all cases. However, if I right click on a .jpg file (or any other graphic file) and select, OPEN WITH, then select Photoshop CS5 from the list, Photoshop appears to be trying to run, then the system reports that it has failed to open. Yet, if I open Photoshop first, then open the file from within the prog, it opens OK and Photoshop works as expected.
Has anyone else come across this behaviour ... and more importantly, does anyone know what is the cause of this and how to resolve the issue ??

Nope, when I right-click a JPEG, Open With, Photoshop CS5 results in Photoshop CS5 x64 starting and the image opening.
I tested it with both Photoshop not running and with Photoshop already running.
I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
You say the system reports an error... Have you looked in the Windows System Event Log (or Application Event Log)? More information may be provided there.

Illustrator Short Commands Not Working

Hi Team,
My illustrator CS6 short commands have stopped working.
Any time I try to use any CMD + Key, illustrator will not react.
This has been on going for a few months, I have tried resetting preferences but nothing has changed.

I have tried resetting preferences and few other options.
Anytime I press the CMD key the option at the bottom just changes from selection to direct selection, if that helps.
Should I uninstall and reinstall illustrator?
I no longer have my access key.

You may try the following (you have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences):
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press CtrlAltShift/CmdOptionShift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder Other options (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Bash commands not working after upgrade to Lion

After upgrade, many BASH commands not working. For example, such a fundamental thing as "ls".
iMac20:bin a$ ls

What does it have to do with PowerPC? My computer is 2.66 GHz Inter Core Duo

Why is my BDC_CURSOR command not working to position the cursor?

Why is my BDC_CURSOR command not working to position the cursor? Here are the details regarding my issue.
I am writing a BDC to mass delete routing material assignments using transaction CA02. I am OK to navigate through the initial screen to go to the Header screen and from here I am OK to navigate to the Material Assignments screen. But once here, I cannot get the BDC_CURSOR command to take me into the list. Here are the commands I am using. Please let me know what I may try differently.

I had used SM35 to record. However, I was not aware of the "create program" feature. I had commented out a section from my previous post which I have now added back (latest code below). But it still did not resolve the issue.
When I execute with dismode = 'N', I get back error message "No batch input data for screen SAPLCZDI 1010".
When I execute with dismode = 'E' (only show dynpros when error), it stops at the material selection screen without placing my cursor in the list. I can then MANUALLY click to set the cursor position in the list, MANUALLY click the trashcan, it then uses my BDC command to respond to the popup asking "Do you want to delete", still leaving me at the material selection screen. I can then MANUALLY click the green check (or enter), then it continues with the BDC to go back to the previous screen, and saves. But it still will not place my cursor in the material selection list (SAPLCZDI screen 1010).
Here is code used. It is the second section of code labeled "CA02 Material Assignment - Delete" that is not working.

Compressor 3.0.5 not working in Yosemite. Fixes?

Compressor 3.0.5. does not work in Yosemite 10.10.1.
I receive an "Unable to submit to queue. Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is correct." error message.
I'm also currently unable to download the newest version of Compressor 4.1.3, as my video card (ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB) in my mid-2007 iMac prevents me from downloading it.
Does anyone have any similar experiences with this? Suggestions? Fixes?

3.5 may work, but the preference panel doesn't - which makes the setting up of clusters a real PIA - need to learn terminal setups.
My recommendation is if you want to run compressor on 10.10, spend the few bucks to run C4.
