  • [ADF EMG] Update: ADF EMG Oracle Open World 2010 Unconference Sessions

I teased in a previous forum post that I'd reserve publishing details about the ADF EMG Oracle Open World 2010 Unconference sessions till later. Well later is now, and I'm (you guessed it) excited to announce we have another full schedule at the Unconference. Read below for more details:
    Where and when?
Location: Hotel Parc 55, 3rd Floor, Mason Room
    Map: http://www.parc55hotel.com/map-and-directions
    Date/time: Wednesday 22nd Sept 10:00-12:00
    Duration: 120min
    Topics and Speakers
Oracle ADF 11g and Oracle WebCenter 11g Production Demo
Andrejus Baranovskis - Red Samurai Consulting
During his session Andrejus will demonstrate two production systems, the first a retail system, and the second for the education sector. Both systems are based on a standard Oracle development architecture - utilising ADF BC, ADF Task Flows, ADF Libraries and Oracle's ADF UI Shell. The second system in addition implements Oracle WebCenter Services - Composer, Discussions, Document Management and RSS feeds, providing a Web 2.0 platform.
ADF BC 10g and ADF Faces 10g to ADF BC 11g and Trinidad, Live!
John Flack – Information Engineer Synectics for Management Decisions, Inc.
John will run a live lets-get-down-and-dirty demonstration of migrating a small ADF BC 10g/ADF Faces 10g application to ADF BC 11g and Apache MyFaces Trinidad. This will include steps to make the migration easier, the migration wizard, and how to clean up the application after migration, as well some differences between ADF Faces 10g and Trinidad. John will also show some steps needed which aren't documented, from some hard-earned real-life experience.
    Demonstration of UW-Madison's Scholarship Application
Todd Hill & Ed O'Connor-Giles – Development Services Specialist and Technical Leader at the University of Wisconsin
University of Wisconsin-Madison automates management, evaluation, and awarding of scholarships -- and the online application experience for students -- with an application built on Oracle ADF. In this session Todd and Ed from the university will demonstrate the application and their technical approach, discuss the many real-world technical challenges faced, and lessons learned in the course of the project.
Integrating 3rd party tools/frameworks into ADF
Gert Leenders - Product Manager at Axi Nv
Gert will discuss their latest ADF project resulting in a real Java technology mash-up showing how ADF can be integrated with several different product. The core remains ADF but for the management of the business processes his team integrated JBoss jBPM, JBoss Drools as a business rule engine, and last but not least Alfresco & UCM as a content repository through the use of CMIS.
ADF - How much do you really need to know?
    Sten Vesterli
How much knowledge is enough? You could spend months or even years learning to master all aspects of ADF Business Components and ADF Faces, but you already know that you don't need to know everything. This presentations proposes a set of ADF skill levels and a way to classify application complexity - and a way to map these, so you know what skill levels you need in order to build a given application.
    Don't forget...
Don't forget that the ADF EMG also has an on-schedule session on Sunday 19th:
    Session ID: S313445
Location: Moscone West, Level 3, Room 3012
    Date/time: Sunday 19th Sept 14:00-15:00
...with the following well respected ADF and JSF speakers:
    • Frank Nimphius
    • Kito Mann
    • Aino Andriessen
    • Sten Vesterli
We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco!

Please note the Wednesday sessions have moved room to the Mason room. Same hotel, same date & time, just different room. The original post above has been changed.

My Itunes says there is a corrupt file and will not open (IMac 2010). I couldn't fix it by reinstalling ITunes so I moved ITunes to trash. It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj". I can't delete ITunes or open ITunes to close the Japanese.lproj, what do I do? Thank you for any help you can provide..

It will not delete from my trash as it is saying "Japanese.lproj" is in use. I have never opened or used "Japanese.lproj".
Interesting. This sort of thing is more common on Windows systems. Taken at face value, one of the iTunes program files (one of the Japanese language resources) is damaged.
I'd try running your Disk Utility over your startup disk. Does it find/repair any damage? If so can you empty your trash and reinstall your iTunes successfully now?

  • Oracle Open World 2012 - XML DB Presentations and Hands-on Labs

Hereby following up on a small tradition, I think, I get going since 2006...an agenda overview of all things XMLDB you can do or see during this years Oracle Open World.
Oracle Open World is the biggest IT conference nowadays in the world with 40.000+ thousand attendees and 1600+ sessions or workshops, so an overview regarding specific topics can be handy.
If there is an update or something needs correction or added, please post it here.
    Regards
    Marco Gralike
    HOL10055 - Oracle XML DB Hands-On Lab
    ========================================================================================================================
This hands-on lab provides an introduction to using Oracle XML DB and XQuery to store and manage XML content stored in Oracle Database.
It introduces the different kinds of XML storage and indexing offered by Oracle XML DB and shows how to optimize XQuery operations on XML
content by selecting the correct storage and indexing model. The lab also provides an introduction to the XML features available in the latest
version of Oracle Database, including the new XQuery Update standard. And it shows how to take full advantage of the latest XQuery standards,
such as XQuery Full-Text, to develop applications that combine the power of Full-Text and XML-based indexes
BOF9908 - Oracle XML DB BOF
    ========================================================================================================================
This session provides you with an opportunity to get answers to your questions about Oracle XML DB from the development team, product
management team, acknowledged independent experts, and fellow Oracle XML DB users. The goal is to have an open and frank discussion
about how to get the best out of all the features of Oracle XML DB. The session gives you a chance to establish personal contact with the
people who have firsthand experience with developing and delivering systems that make use of Oracle XML DB
CON8443 - Simple Content Management with Oracle XML DB and Database Native Web Services
    ========================================================================================================================
This session demonstrates the power of the Oracle XML DB repository. You will learn how to automate the processing of documents stored
in the Oracle XML DB repository, using repository events, and how to combine XML, PL/SQL, and database native Web services with Ajax and
JavaScript to create simple, effective applications that leverage the full power of Oracle XML DB and the Oracle XML DB repository. The session
focuses on a sample application, called XFiles, and shows how it was created with a combination of XML, XSL, JavaScript Ajax, and PL/SQL
CON8440 - Managing XML Content with the Latest-Generation Oracle XML DB
    ========================================================================================================================
This session introduces the latest generation of Oracle XML DB technology. XML standards continue to evolve, and Oracle XML DB continues
to provide the industry’s leading implementation of those standards. The latest version of Oracle XML DB provides support for two new exciting
XML standards, XQuery-Update and XQuery-Full Text. You will learn how to use XQuery, XQuery-Update, and XQuery Full-Text to develop
powerful XML-centric applications. The session also demonstrates how to optimize XQuery Full-Text operations with Oracle’s new XML full-text
index. The presentation also introduces Oracle’s new midtier XQuery engine and the XQJ API, which enables Java developers to access the full
    power of Oracle’s XML technology
CON3148 - Integrating XML by Using Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 and Oracle Database 11g Release 2
    ========================================================================================================================
Frequently during a project lifecycle, new technology is introduced that presents first-time challenges. This session describes a project using
Oracle XML Database (Oracle XML DB) and discusses why Oracle XML DB was chosen, how it was used, and the technical issues encountered.
The presentation covers several examples using XMLTYPE, CLOBs, Oracle XML DB methods, XMLAGG, XMLELEMENT, XMLFOREST, and
dbms_xmldom. You will learn about methods, design considerations, and issues with Oracle XML DB. You will also take home working examples
that you can copy and paste into your Oracle environment. Benefit from examples that use Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle SQL
    Developer 3.1.
CON8442 - Design Guidelines and Performance Tuning for Storing XML in Oracle Database
    ========================================================================================================================
This session examines techniques that can be used to optimize the performance of XML processing in Oracle XML DB. It looks at the different
storage and indexing options and provides guidelines on when each should be considered. After establishing a framework for deciding how to
store XML, the presentation considers the options available for indexing XML to ensure optimal performance of an XML-based application.
The session also discusses how standard techniques such as partitioning and using parallel data manipulation language (PDML) can be used to
scale XML processing on extremely large volumes of XML content and how Oracle XML DB can leverage the intelligent storage capabilities of
    Oracle Exadata.

  • Oracle Open World in SanFrancisco and Oracle Spatial

    Hi,
This week is Oracle Open World in San Francisco, and while usually we try to keep this message board strictly technical, I wanted to mention that there are some interesting things happening here.
There are a few sessions Wednesday in Room 2016 starting at 3:00 pm:
Data Management on a Budget with Oracle 10g: Exploring Strategies and Tactics with the U.S. Geological Survey
by Nate Booth and Harold House, USGS
Oracle Database 10g Spatial Performance and Manageability Best Practices and German Rail Case Study
by Dan Abugov (me) and Andreas Hoefler, Fichtner Consulting & IT AG
I'm excited to be talking about Partitioning Best Practices, and we'll be posting the white paper here on OTN.
Finally, please come and see us at booth E28 in the Oracle DemoGrounds (we have Locator/Spatial, MapViewer, and Workspace Manager here in the pod). If you are the FIRST person to mention reading this posting on OTN when you visit the booth, we'll be happy to give you a copy of "Pro Oracle Spatial", the first book devoted to developing applications using Oracle Spatial. The book was written by Ravi Kothuri, Albert Godfrind (two Oracle Spatial Developers) and Euro Beinat of Geodan NL. One of the authors (Albert Godfrind) is here, and if you ask I'd bet he'd autograph it for you!
We also have a very limited supply of the book we'll be giving out over the course of the conference.
Of course, everyone who stops by will get the Oracle Spatial mini CD which includes viewlets, white papers, and more.
The book is also available here:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1590593839/qid=1102358585/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-9450919-8639226?v=glance&s=books

    Hello,
Take a look at this page, http://www.oracle.com/technology/events/oracle-openworld-2007/index.html
There are links here to the whole OOW (social network,twitter,blog/flicker)osphere I think the new buzzword being "Social Graph" that covers all that.
But anyway there are tons of ways for people to sign up and track the sessions and see who's going to go where, etc.

  • Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server.(Error Code 10) when users opened Outlook 2010

    Hi All
    Exchange Server - 2013 CU2 (Windows 2012 Standard)
    AD Server - 2003 R2 SP2
    exchange-svr01.domain.com - internal name
    mail.company.net - external name
When users opened Outlook 2010, they will encountered
"There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the target site exchange-svr01.domain.com.
Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server.(Error Code 10)"
I also used the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer to test RPC/HTTP connectivity.
    The RPC/HTTP test completed successfully.
        Validating the certificate name.
         Certificate name validation failed.
Host name company.net doesn't match any name found on the server certificate CN=AMAZONA-U59HG9G.
Testing SSL mutual authentication with the RPC proxy server.
The test passed with some warnings encountered.
The certificate common name company.net doesn't match the mutual authentication string provided mail.company.net; however, a match was found in the subject alternative name extension.
     please help.

    Hi,
    I
want to create superadmin user, which is capable of accessing all mailboxes in AD.
    With
this account, I want to open information store of each mailbox(from MFCMAPI).
I am facing issue, while opening Exchange 2010 user's mbx , if superadmin hosts on Exchange 13 and vice-versa.
    I
    tried
    Get-MailboxDatabase

    and
    Get-MailboxDatabase

    ManojK

    Hi Manoj
    Mostly looks like permission issue
Check the ACL permission for the account (super admin) by running get-mailboxPermission | FL
Give it extended rights to the (super admin) account which i guess it will not be present which causes this issue to happen
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Add-ADPermission -User <service account> -AccessRights ExtendedRight -ExtendedRights
Also try with this KB article last step  -

Mark will you be attending at Oracle Open World 2006 / will you be giving the lecture on XQuery, Oracle XML DB and Web Services (http://www.oracle.com/openworld/attendees/special-programs/develop.html#6) ?

Mark, guess what, among others, because you provided me some use-cases, I am able to attend.
So thinking this will be for me a great XMLDB event (and a little bit of other (mainly performance) stuff). Nope, njet, nada. The stupid schedule builder won't let me choose the XML items you marked via the default link about OOW2006 (or hands-on), even with a full conference pass. Aaarrchhh.
A real nightmare this is going to be, snik(=wheep). Couldn't select Lucas Jellema's (my collegae's 3) sessions as well (can i disguesse as his beverage waiter/assistant?). There is a small light shining in this nightmare, I can (and did ;-) select the session with Ms. Wang.
    For the rest...?
I will have to do with jonathan lewis, T. Kyte, et. all
