Openbox as gnome window manager doesn't work

So, this is my first time with arch, and I have some experience with Ubuntu so I installed the gnome winow manager to start.
It looks fine but I like some themes and how openbox looks/works more. I decided saw in a wiki that you can make it the window manager for gnome, so I followed the instructions in the wiki, loged out then back in, but nothing happens. Still the same old gnome.

I believe you want it to be openbox-gnome-session

Gnome-volume-manager doesn't work, nor another automounter

Hi there,
I have installed gnome-volume-manager but it apparentely does not work. I've followed the instructions from the FAQ - Arch Linux, and I have tried also recompiling it with --enable-automounting. I have tried also having Nautilus opened at the same time but it didn't work. My WM is IceWM.
//ivman works for the cdrom but not for usb devices. And I don't like AutoFS.

I had this problem and it was related to ConsoleKit not being initialized properly. I was using SLIM as login manager and had to add ck-launch-session to my .xinitrc when starting the gnome session.

Media Manager doesn't work

I have a Blackberry 8330 (CDMA) v4.50.191 (Plaform 3.4.0.62).
The Blackberry desktop manager is v4.5
The Media Manager doesn't work.
when I click on the icon for it, the window gets a grayish tint -- like it's going to do something -- but then it returns to normal and nothing happens.
I am trying to download photos I took with my Blackberry camera to my computer.
Can anyone tell me some recommendations on how to download them and/or repair the Media Manager?

My advice, skip the Media Manager and instead use Mass Storage Mode:

With that, you can work with your BB memory area(s) as USB drives on your computer, and use your normal computer interface to do so.

After Upgrading Acrobat Reader XI to Acrobat XI Pro the previewer in Outlook and Windows Explorer doesn't work. I have to set the default program for .pdf's to Acrobat Reader inorder for the previewer to work.

If I set the default program for viewing PDF as Acrobat XI Pro the a PDF file will open with Acrobat XI Pro, but in Outlook I will get a white screen and the information bubble "This file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it" and in Windows Explorer I get a white screen in the preview pane.
My Acrobat version is 11.0.10
I am running Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1
My Internet Explorer is Version 11.0.9600.17691

GPO don't run specified windows applications doesn't work to in win 8.1. any ideas why?

GPO "don't run specified windows applications" doesn't work to in win 8.1. any ideas why? it is enabled and list of progs is entered however I can still run all progs on list. This is a local machine not on a domain. I must
have this work to disable games, IE, MSpaint, etc. Computer has been restarted since enabling the GPO and also have enforced the GPO via CMD prompt. worked fine on windows 8 and 7.

Any success ?

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

Next step, if safe mode did not work.
First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously) that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.

Media Manager doesn't work anymore

When I'm capturing and logging footage, Media Manager is part of my work flow. I capture the entire tape, then use the DV Start/Stop detect function to make subclips. Then I use Media Manager to create smaller versions of the subclips. I I log and archive the newly created compressed clips, and use them for edits.
But now with FCP 5.0.2, Media Manager doesn't work like it used to. The end result of outputting the subclips is one large clip. If I output half of them at a clip (1,3,5,7,9,etc.) and then go back and do the rest (2,4,6,8,10,...) it works. But what a pain. I've tried every variation of settings. Nothing make a difference.
What gives?
Also, the subclips all now have the first frame of the next clip stuck on the end. That's not Media Manager, it happens before. But it is not cool.
Anyone having similar problems, and any solutions?

Here is the process:
Capture the entire DV tape as one long clip.
Use DV Start/Stop detection to create markers. (This results in that extra last frame from the beginning of the next clip.)
Make subclips from the markers.
Select subclips and go to Media Manager
Use Media Manager to Recompress
-Recompress media using OfflineRT NTSC (Photo JPEG)
-Delete unused media from selected clips.
-No handles (I want the clip as it was on the tape)
-Base media file names on clip names
-Select a media destination
And off it goes.
Instead of creating individual clips (at the slected location) it makes one long clip, like the source just smaller because it is now compressed.
In earlier version of FCP this worked. Something has changed in version 5.
I can trick the Media Manager by selecting every other subclip, outputting, and then going back and selecting the rest. But that is twice the work. And I still have those darn extra frames at the end of the clips.
Any ideas. (I have already done the Quicktime repair listed in many other threads.)

Gnome-power-manager doesn't respond to disconnecting AC power supply

"acpi" command always shows correct information, but gnome-power-manager doesn't.
When computer is initially on AC power, and then I disconnect the adapter, gnome-power-manager still says hapilly that I'm on AC power, and the battery is fully charged. It only reacts when I plug adapter back. Then everything is correct. But If i disconnect it again - it shows "AC power, fully charged" again, even regarding the fact it was "80% charged" a second ago.
WTF?

After updating the BIOS, it's more correct, but still not always (I'm running Acer Aspire One 110).
And, another strange issue - when I disconnect the AC adapter, and the power-manager detects that, it automatically locks the screen. (I have a option enabled that when the laptop is closed then the blank screen screensaver is activated, which locks the screen, but this is not the case)

Recovery Manager doesn't work :(!!!

I have installed a new windows to my laptop (dv6-6177se) but it doesn't work as well as the original OS and when i tried to recover the original copy from the hard drive it didn't work! I installed HP recovery manager but when i try to open it there is a massage pops up tellin' me that there's missing fill called DZIP32.dll and HardDisk.dll for X64 i dunno what to do so plz help me to solve this problem.

Enterprise Manager doesn't work!

My EM doesn't work. I don't know why, but the Console Service doesn´t Run, and therefore I cannot enter EM.
When I try to configure it with DBCA it gives me the following errors:

Gnome 2.18 doesn't work with heliodor

Hey,
i wanted to ask if you too have problems with beryl and gnome 2.18
i updated it yesterday and heliodor doesn't work. The only way to get window-decorator is emerald, but even that crashes often.
is this a known problem?

Crystal Report 13 with WPFon Windows XP doesn't work

Hy everybody,
I develop a Wpf application FrameWork 4.0 on Windows 7 64 bit with VS 2010 and Cr 13.
On my machine, no problem with Crytal Report
When I deploy my application on a Windows 7 32 bit : no problem with my crystal reports
When I deploy my application on a Windows XP 32 bit : the crystal reports doesn't work.
When the code arrive to rpt.SetDataSource or rst.SetParameterValue, my application close without any error message.
Strange : I deploy my application on 3 XP. On 2 XP, just after de deployement It has work (two times it has show the report) but then the application close. Uninstall all and reinstall, it has never worked again.
Some help please

That's the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?

I don't understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can't execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.
By the way when you view a page from the internet, image files are already downloaded in the temp folder of your computer but only the browser uses them unless you open them from there and use in another program. So if you have a virus protection the images are already scanned.
