OpenGL Error

Doom 3 demo version is failing at startup on my Mega 180 Deluxe due to an OpenGL error. Anyone have this problem? I thought the nForce 4 chipset was fully OpenGL compliant.
Cheers,

have you got the latest display drivers (v66.93)?
download them from http://www.nvidia.com, not from MSI

  • Rss Screensaver OpenGL error in Console

I'm seeing this error in the console:
    2006-10-14 18:31:22.995 System Preferences[5520] * <QCGLCIImage = 0x165FBE50 | type = CIImage | dimensions = 512x512 | buffer = 0x0000-0x0000 | target = GLTEXTURE2D | ID = 2>: OpenGL error 0x0502 (invalid operation) during upload
It gets logged every time the RSS screensaver loads or I select it in system prefs. Searching here and google doesn't seem to help much.
    It's 10.4.8 on a 1.8Ghz Intel Mac Mini and I havn't installed any 3rd party screensavers.
The only thing I've noticed -since the screensaver works fine- is that the number after QCGLCIImage changes slightly.
Does anyone have any ideas? My console.log is filling up with this two times for every time the screensaver starts.
Too many to list   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    1. Is the problem occurring with Apple's RSS Visualizer screen saver, or a third-party RSS screen saver?
If the problem occurs with a third-party RSS feed screen saver, check for updates to it or report the problem to the developer. Some third-party screen savers written for PPC-based Macs do not work on Intel-based Macs.
    2. It's possible there are corrupted preferences afoot.1. Quit (Command-Q) System Preferences if it is open.
    2. Trash the following two files in your Home > Library > Preferences folder:
    • com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    • com.apple.desktop.plist
    3. Trash the following files in your Home > Library > Preferences > ByHost folder:
    (a) com.apple.systempreferences.xxx.plist
    (b) com.apple.screensaver.xxx.plist
    (c) com.apple.screensaver.screensaver_name.xxx.plist
where• xxx is an alphanumeric string, and
    • screensaver_name is the name of a screen saver you have used.Whether preferences files of the type shown in (c) exist depends upon the screen saver and if you have changed its options, if any.
    4. Open your Home > Library > Caches folder, then trash the following two files therein:
    • com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
    • com.apple.preferencepanes.searchindexcache
    5. Empty the Trash.
    6. Launch System Preferences and see if all is well. If so, reset Desktop & Screen Saver preferences accordingly.Good luck!

  • Photoshop CS6 crashes with nVidia OpenGL Error Code:3

CS6 13.0.1.1 64 bit is crashing from time to time with the nVidia OpenGL Error Code:3.
It most often occurs when waking the system if it entered sleep mode while Photoshop was running but I also get it without entering sleep mode and it doesn't happen every time which makes troubleshooting a problem.   I have to go in and kill the Photoshop.exe process as it remains running and prevents relaunching the program.    Fortunately in most cases I can recover the file due to the autosave feature but that just depends on when the problem happens.
I have installed the latest nVidia GeForce 8800 drivers without resoltuion.
I'd been using CS6 for some time before the crashes started and have rebuilt the system since they started.   Before rebuilding the system I mainly used 32 bit but am now using 64 bit exclusively.    It may have also started after a nVidia update that was carried in Windows 7 updates.    I have changed out the graphcis card with anohter 8800 so am sure it's a software issue.
If anyone has run in to this, I could really use some help resolving it.
    Thanks,
    Darvin Atkeson
    LiquidMoonlight.com

You're several updates behind -- please go install the Photoshop updates.
But it looks like the error might be in a driver (or something that jumps into unknown code) - so you might want to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website. And make sure that any third party plugins you have installed are up to date.

  • AE CS4 and the OpenGL error

I am experiencing thesame issues Martins92 had with my AE CS4, An openGL error - [a texture in your file is too small to render] keeps poppin up anytime I try scrubbing on the timeline. I've tried disabling OpenGL in the edit>preference>preview dialogue box, but it still comes up with that error and tells me to close the program. I have even talen the plug-ins out of the adobe folder as directed in the OpenGL troubleshooting page, but no change, the error still pops up? Dont know what to do.

Well, if Matrox advise it, then there must be a reason for it. If it realyl bothers you, I recommend you create a second hardware profile for your Windows. Go to your device manager (right-click My Computer --> Manage), disable the Matrox card, safe this set as a new configuration. Then in your startup options (right-click My Computer --> Properties) make sure it is set to show the menu during boot so you can chose a configuration. You can also simply press F8 during startup to get access to the hardware configs selection. Without the card being active, you should be free in your decision to set the comp length, you just won't be able to use the Matrox stuff...

  • OpenGL errors since 8.02 update

Nothing has changed on my system since installing AE CS3 last August, but now I keep getting a persistent OpenGL error message that makes me use Task Manager to exit the application. Happens even when I disenable the use OpenGL box in preferences. The only change I can think of is the latest 8.02 update. Anybody else seeing this? I have an Nvidia 8800 GTS card on a core duo quad XP machine with 3 GB RAM.

    >Is it possible to revert to a previous update version?
Re-install the program from the original disc. Still, your problem sounds like you could also resolve it with updating your graphics card driver. The error message seems to indicate that your graphics adapter accepts all processing commands, but then sends the results into Nirvana, so AE can't generate the display buffer. As a minor, I would at least turn off the advanced features of the NView desktop manager and see if this bring any betterment.

  • NVDA(OpenGL) error escalates after OSX 10.7.4 update

I own a iMac6,1 model with NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256 MB video card. It is perfectly fine, has a new disk and 4GB memory. However with every release of OSX I get more issues with the video of my iMac: from artifacts to completely garbled screen and temporary / full freezes. After updating to OSX 10.7.4 it has become unusable. The existing error messages in the kernel.log (and corresponding screen issues) now appear about 4-5 times a minute:
kernel: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error
    kernel: 00000069
Is there a known fix, or is Apple planning to address this issue please?

Wow things are getting bad. I have the same problem after updating to 10.7.4
The control icon is greyed out and there is nothing in the 'sound preferences' that allows this to be remedied.
Some of the solutions here are draconian (I should not have to reinstall to fix this, Steve Jobs would be turning in his grave) and Apple should be rightly ashamed that such a essential feature has gone to ground in the latest update.
Sane solutions appreciated. I can't record, I can't playback existing music, iTunes is useless, I'm not keen on silent movies, can't use Acrobat Connect.......the list goes on.

  • OpenGL error when starting Photoshop CS 3

After installing Creative Suite CS 3, I immediately encountered the following error when I tried to launch it:
    Unable to Locate Component
This application failed to start because OPENGL32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I installed it from my windows XP disk into the correct system32 directory and I am still having problems. I read that you must register the dll before it can work and I received an error message.
    Any ideas. Thanks.

I've installed the latest and the greatest drivers. Here's what my video cards is using:

  • After Effects OpenGL error on a Satellite A200-1M7

I am engaged in video development. Earlier I worked on an old computer (1.7Mhz, 256RAM, 64mb video).
I work in program Adobe After Effect, but today at work on Toshiba satellite A200-1m7
(It is very powerful computer Core 2 duo 1.8Mhz, 1024Ram 256mb Video), the program
gives out a mistake: After Effects error: OpenGL: Failed to share context - monitor color depth must be 32. (5044::0)
what is that means and as it can be corrected. Thanks!

    Hi,
I am not sure if it helps but try the following:
Right-click somewhere in your desktop (the contextmenu opens), then click on "properties" and go to the tab "settings" where you can set the depth of the "Color Quality". Set it to the highest (32 Bit) and check if the error appears again.
It would be good if you give a short reply if it worked..

After a ram preview the software warns me about an error with OpenGL commands.
When I press "Ok" After Effects become unusable
    I've already read about this issue with Adobe After Effects CS4 / CS5 / CS6 but I can't find a discussion about Adobe CC…

    I'm working on a Macbook Pro 2.9GHZ Intel Core i7 (8GB Ram)

Am I correct in my guess that you are using a third-party plug-in that uses OpenGL, like Element 3D?

run an "cmd", then goto extracted folder then type:
    nvflash.exe -v [ENTER]
you will able to see it.
    Other way is get GPU-Z ==> http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2018/TechPowerUp%20GPU-Z%20v0.5.4.html
    Then save the VBIOS
    Click on the icon:
Select "Save to file", and save the VBIOS to some location and remember it.
then upload it somewhere like http://www.mediafire.com/ and give the link to it

  • AE CC 2014 OpenGL error

    Hello,
I updated to the latest version of After Effects CC 2014 and now get a "After Effects Warning: A problem occured when processing OpenGL commands". Then the composition window displays nothing.
I updated my Quadro4000 graphics card driver after seeing this error - but obviously hasn't helped.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Rick,
I installed the latest version when I was notified a few days ago. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. Before the update - I had no issues whatsover using After Effects CC and After Effects CC 2014.
    Thanks

  • After Effects CS6 with ATI HD 6870 OpenGL errors

After Effects won't start and comes back with OpenGL and gpu sniffer errors.
Happened on my Windows 7 x64 and now on a fresh install of Windows 8 x64, all drivers are up to date as of 12/22/2012.

Try an older version of catalyst. Resident AMD/ ATI expert Noel Carboni over at the PS forum still recommends 10.8... At least on Win 7 this shoulod work.

  • PP crashing and giving NVIDIA OpenGL Error Code:6 when in FCP XML sequence

    Hi guys/gals,
In an attempt to do an online and colour grade of a music video I shot with the EPIC recently, I loaded up a FCP XML (created with FCP version 7) file into a new 2k, 2:1, 23.98 sequence from the presets and re-linked the offline EPIC .r3D's to color in PP and AE CS5.5.
Mix of sizes, 2k, 3k and 5k as well as some 5D shots. My playback settings are Paused: Full and Play: 1/8th
As I go through and clean up the sequence for finishing Premiere Pro keeps crashing and giving me an error:
NVIDIA OpenGL Driver Error Code: 6
"Your hardware configuration does not meet minimum specs"
When I build a new sequence from scratch with all the same footage, PP chugs along and moves slowly as I make changes and scrub through the footage but it doesn't crash.
Is this a known issue with FCP XML's and PP and is there a fix?
As far as I know my system is spot on and up to date on all drivers, could it be a faulty GPU??
    Specs:
    GEFORCE 285.62 DRIVER
I am running CS5.5, with EPIC plug ins installed.
    Asus Sabretooth
    Intel i7 3600
    16GB Corsair RAM
    Nvidia GTX580
    120GB SSD C:
    2TB Raid0
Thanks for any advice in advance.
    Cheers,
    Kevin

    "Mix of sizes, 2k, 3k and 5k"
You would need Max GPU memory to play back that high resolution material consistent flawless.
How much on dedicated Memory does the Nvidia GTX580 have?
Later, I searched at new egg,  they had GTX580s with choice of  either
    1536MB or  3GB.
You may need the 3gb model to get MPE Hardware acceleration correctly with 3k and 5k material.

  • PhotoshopCS5 crash: nVidia OpenGL error 8

    Hi.
My Photoshop CS5 sometimes crashes and I get the error
The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display
driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.
    Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html for help.
    Error code: 8
Searching arround I found that some other users have the same problem. But I could find no solutions. Just people moving from nVidia to AMD/ATI.
I would like to know: is there anything that could be done? I have the last nVidia drivers, I already tried to remove old drivers before installing new ones.
The strange thing is that this crash seems to happen just 1 time for session. After the first time it happens then I can work witout wondering when the crash will came making me loose part of the job I did...
Any help would be really wellcome.

Yea i don't think OCing would matter. I cant reproduce my crash at will or i would play with it more and find a solution.
What i am leaning twords is the nvidia control panel settings.
Couple things i would do starting with set the "adjust Image Settings With preview"  set that option to Let the 3d application decide.
Now, try to crash it. if it crashes you go to step two.
Creating a photoshop spacific configuration so that you can mess with the setting and only effect photoshop under manage 3d settings.
    i would change things like:
Now you can do this multiple ways. you can systematicly change each feature one at a time till you find a combo that you no longer crash under, or you can take a best guess shot at what features could be causeing the issue.
personally i would guess first .
"power management mode" i would set max preformance
Then i would see if i crash. if i do next i would
Everything with an off option, i would set off.
Then see if i crash, if i don't i have it half beat. start turning on options untill you find the one that crashes you.
if you still crash, then I see an ATI in your future.

  • Encoder 2014 crashing with OpenGL error - please advise

I did some research and split my 40-minute sequence (AVCHD 1080p 30fps) into chunks... did fine until the last one which was only 7:56 long - another successful export - Vimeo 1080p with MQR selected as suggested in the forum was longer. Up until this week's issues (updating to 2014.2 then rolling back to 2014.0), I had been exporting 2 hour sequences with no issues what so ever, in 2014.0.
Here is a screen capture of the error - this time, instead of white screen crashing, it did take me to Nvidia where the only partner/app selection is the one for the K6000 - 331.something.
I read on one forum that driver 334.95 is the one to use; I will try that next. I am using 341.21 - the latest WHQL available according to Nvidia.
So what driver should I be using? Are there particular settings I need to check in the Nvidia desktop app?
Here are screen shots of my specs according to the Nvidia desktop app:
I see "System Video Memory" shows 0mb - is that my problem? Can I somehow use the 2014 standalone version of Encoder? Are there other settings/preferences - like memory allocation that someone can help me with?
I will do a clean install of 334.95, clear my PPro preferences and clean my cache before attempting an export again..
    PLEASE HELP ME!
    Thanks,
    Diane
