Opening 2 URLs during flash intro

Hi Everyone,
I've created a flash intro for a website and I have it setup so that in the first frame of the intro it opens a popup window, and then in the last frame it opens the actual site in the same window as the intro. Right now when it hits the last frame it opens up the popup window again also! Ack! The code I've used for opening the popup window is:
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("player.html"); navigateToURL(url, "_blank");
the code used in the last frame to move to the site is:
var urlReq:URLRequest=new URLRequest('index2.html');
navigateToURL(urlReq,'_self');
I'm totally new to flash and I'm not much of a programmer as you've probably guessed. I'm guessing that it has something to do with re-using the same variable name. I tried changing the code in different ways on the second window opening but still had the same result, or broke it opening up any pages at all. I've also tried moving the two code snippets to different layers. I'm thinking there might be a few ways around this too such as if there is a way to trigger the popup window, and then have the intro wait x seconds and then opens the main site or something, but I have no clue how to go about doing any of this. Any help would be appreciated!
I have the site in question in a temp location currently and it can be viewed here: http://www.janosoto.com/temp
I really appreciate any help you guys can give me!
Thank you kindly,
Cayce Borden

Ok maybe people didn't understand so I'll ask my question another way:
I have a flash movie that is supposed to open a popup window using actionscript 3.0 in the first frame. In the last frame the movie also uses actionscript to use the same window the movie is in to open a website. It is a flash intro if you will. When the last frame triggers to open the site it opens the popup window again. How do i keep it from opening the popup window twice? If you need further details they are in my first post.
Thanks,
Cayce Borden

    Usually there is no need to install a flash player to view a flash presentation in a website as browsers altready have support for them. However if the flash needs some advanced features then the website will prompt for downloading the required version.
    In your case you may try to uninstall the software and then try to open the URL to view the demo. If it doesnot works you may download the latest version and get certain other information from this link
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_15511
    If nothing works then you can try using a diffrent browser (eg Firefox or Opera if you are using IE).

  • How can I import my html flash intro into Muse?

    I created a flash intro using Tumult Hype.
    I just designed a website in Adobe Muse and I'd like to insert my flash intro to be the first screen on my website. I'd also like to link it so that when i click "enter" it takes me to the home page of my site.
    How can i do this? I've read numerous articles and forums on this problem and no one seems to have the solution.
    Someone PLEASE HELP!

    Use the code below... Upload your tumult file to your server as i don't think this will work locally. Insert an HTML object on your first page in Muse ( Home/Index.html ) and paste the code below in the object, change the URL in the code to point to your Tumult document. You may have to use an absolute path to other pages when you click the enter button for example http://www.yoursite.com/otherpage.html which will then take you to other pages in your muse document. Let me know if you run into issues...
    Adding iframes to your site to display other site pages with embedded HTML
    In addition to using embedded HTML to insert code you've pasted from a third-party website, you can also embed an entire web page within an iframe using the same method. For example, you can type a code snippet like this:
    <iframe title="A Title for this Content" src="http://yoururlhere.com" width="900" height="500" style="border: 0;"></iframe>
    In the code above, replace the text in the title="" and url="" with the desired external web page's title and URL. You can also customize the width and height of the iframe window to the desired values to fit your site's design.
    Optionally, you can also add an attribute that ensures the iframe will not display a scrollbar by adding this to the opening iframe tag:
    scrolling="no"
    By choosing Object > Insert HTML, you can open a new HTML Code window and embed an iframe anywhere on your site and then set any URL (site address, such as www.google.com) to display a site that is live on the Internet inside it.
    You can also use an iframe to embed animation, such as the HTML5 animations created in Adobe Edge. Find the name of the HTML file created by Adobe Edge and use that file name in your iframe's URL attribute:
    <iframe src="Project-Header-r1v1.html" width="100%" height="100%" scrolling="no">
    </iframe>

  • Flash intro's

    Hi,
    I'm new to flash, I program in CSS with dreamweaver, however I downloaded a Flash Intro Template for my site, I have no trouble editing the text and pictures though I can't figure out how to connect it to my index page. It seems like the code is hidden. I want it to end and then fade into my index page created in css, I figure there is a place I can plug in the URL to do this?
    In my library there is a folder labeled buttons, in there there is a button labed replay and hidden, is there an html code within this hidden button that I can edit?
    Please any help is much needed.
    I attached a screen shot of my flash page

    You're not likely to find much of any html code inside the file, especially not inside a button symbol.  If you can show an image of your main timeline, the stage, and maybe any code that might live in the first and last frames, then someone might be able to help figure things out.  To see code, look for little "a"'s in the timeline.... select the frame and open the Actions window (Window -> Actions).

  • Error opening file/URL reference by alias and Administrative limit exceeded

    Hello All,
    Problem:
    SMTP Error: 4.5.0 error opening file/URL reference by alias
    and
    Search failed with: netscape.ldap.LDAPException: error result (11); Administrative limit exceeded
    Here is my configuration:
    Windows 2000 server (without Active Directory)
    SP4
    Iplanet Messaging Server 5.2
    Netscape Directory Server 4.16
    IPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 Hotfix 1.09 (built Jan 7 2003)
    We have a group which we use to flash messages to all the users of the mail server. Till last week it was working fine but now I am not able to send messages to this group <group-name>.
    There are around 800 (Eight Hundred) E-mail id the messaging server and the flashed message is supposed to go to all 800 + users.
    Note: I have another group of 300 users and I am able to send an E-mail to this group of 300 users.
    I am using Dynamic Group for Members list.
    The error message I get while trying to send message to this group is
    SMTP Error: 4.5.0 error opening file/URL reference by alias.
    The corresponding error in mail.log file is
    30-Jan-2004 10:55:21.40 41c.7e4.1098 tcp_intranet J 0 <group-name>@domain rfc822; <group-name>@domain domain (localhost [127.0.0.1]) 452 4.5.0 error opening file/URL referenced by alias: <group-name>@domain
    Now when I construct and Test the LDAP URL from Console, the error I get is:
    Search failed with: netscape.ldap.LDAPException: error result (11); Administrative limit exceeded
    I have increased the various limits but I still get the same error when I send mail to that group or do a LDAP Test:
    The deafult and new limits are:
    Sizelimit: Default 2000 New 10000
    Timelimit Default 3600 New 3600
    Lookthroughlimit Default 5000 New 6000
    The corresponding error entry in access log of slapd is:
    30/Jan/2004:12:19:26 +051800] conn=34 op=213 RESULT err=11 tag=101 nentries=0 etime=2 notes=U
    My search for Administrative limit problem and error opening file/URL error in Sun forum and other groups did get some hits but that did not solve my problem.
    I will appreciate any suggestion/comments.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Maneesh Bisht

    Thanks Jay.
    My problem has been fixed.
    Your suggestion was to increase the lookthrough limit. As you would have noticed in my posting that I had increased this limit to 6000 but that did not solve my problem. Today I increased this limit to 10000. And after that I did not get "administrative limit exceeded" error. Also I do not get "error opening file/URL reference by alias" error while sending E-mail to a particular group of 800+ ids.

  • Opening a PDF inside Flash compile errors

    I'm trying to open a pdf inside flash.  I followed a tutorial online but I'm have issues with the compiler.  Here's my code:
    import flash.html.HTMLLoader;
    import flash.html.HTMLPDFCapability;
    import flash.html.HTMLWindowCreateOptions;
    if( HTMLLoader.pdfCapability == HTMLPDFCapability.STATUS_OK )
        var htmlLoader:HTMLLoader = new HTMLLoader();
        var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest( "01_Advanta2_Master.pdf" );
        htmlLoader.width = 800;
        htmlLoader.height = 600;
        htmlLoader.load( url );
    var pdfHolder:UIComponent = new UIComponent();
    pdfHolder.addChild (htmlLoader);
        addChild (pdfHolder);
    It results in these errors:
    1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: UIComponent.
    1180: Call to a possibly undefined method UIComponent.
    I've tried to import fl.core.UIComponents in the beginning but that resulted in this error:
    1172: Definition fl.core:UIComponent could not be found.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You need to have components in the library in order for them to be accessible.

  • Need Help Adding Flash Intro To Existing Site

    OK I'm helping a buddy of mine out and he's already got his sie built for him by someone else, the index file is .php. Now I've got this little Flash animation that we want to run first, then when it's done go to his website. When I try to add it to the top of the index page all that happens is the site loads like in normally did but with the Flash movie at the top instead of being another page. What do we need to do to have it load on it's own first?

    yes.  the index.html should embed your flash intro swf and at the end to your swf (and in a skip intro button code) you should open the current main page (using getURL or navigateToURL).

  • HELP!!!!  FLASH INTRO!!!!!

    hello all,
    i created a flash intro for my site (only 162k). when i
    launch my site (jimfioredesign.com) on various browers, on
    different machines, with different connectivity (t1, cable, etc),
    there is a 3-5 second delay before it plays. does flash have a
    built-in progress bar or something to let the user know something
    is going to play soon? or, is there a more efficient way of saving
    it (i currently saved it with 80 quality which maintains the
    sharpness).
    btw, i'm a print designer trying to learn flash/web design.
    thanks in advance!

    you need to research how to make flash "preloaders" . Its not
    built in.
    tutorials for that are probably all over web and can vary in
    complexity depending on what you want to show during your 3-5 sec
    delay.

  • Active Content Update ruins my Flash Intro

    Forum,
    I installed the Active Content Update to get rid of the
    "Click here to Activate this Content" message during mouseovers on
    my Flash Intro.
    However, now that the message is gone, I have two problems
    that are somehow being controlled by the AC_RunActiveContent.js or
    something.
    1. The flash is supposed to be centered on the screen, but
    instead it's in the upper left. Even the html calls for it to be
    middle.
    2. The "Skip Intro" and "Sound" controls are gone
    Can anybody help me understand what happened and what I need
    to do to fix it?
    You can see where I'm at by going to: www.imagine1group.com
    www.Imagine1Group.com
    I appreciate any help. I'm kind of new to this.
    Regards,
    John

    aniebel,
    Thank you for the answer to #1. I've now got it in the middle
    of the screen.
    I cannot for the life of me figure out why my controls are
    not visible! I've tried Firefox and IE.
    Somebody is going to know what's going on. Here's the quick
    summary...
    If you go to
    http://www.Imagine1Group.com
    you will see that there are no controls at the bottom for [SKIP
    INTRO] or [SOUND]
    However, if you go to
    http://www.Imagine1Group.com/imagine1intro.swf
    you will see the controls are clearly at the bottom of the flash.
    Please, any ideas?

  • Flash intro newbie

    I don't know if this belongs in flash or dreamweaver, so I'm
    posting it in both places. I have a quicktime movie (originally a
    motion movie) that I converted into flash video in hopes of using
    it as an intro to a webpage created with dreamweaver. It works
    fine, but I cannot figure out how to make it go away after the
    movie is done and leave behind the contents of the page. My
    original thought was to put it in a layer and make the layer with
    the flash movie invisible once the movie was done playing, but that
    didn't work. I then tried adding the behavior go to URL and using
    the URL of the page without the flash movie, but that didn't work,
    either. Is there any way top use a flash movie in dreamweaver and
    then make it go away? Is there a simpler way to accomplish using a
    flash movie as an intro? Thank you so much for your help.

    I might be wrong, but I think you have to build that in to
    the flash
    file itself.
    But don't forget to add a skip intro link on your home page
    because I
    think it's fair to say that a lot of internet users find
    flash intros
    annoying. It's just another thing standing in the way of
    getting the
    information they're looking for.

  • Uploading Flash Intro to play before home page in Dreamweaver

    I'm new to Flash CS3. I'm trying to figure out how to make my
    flash intro to my website play before it takes me to my home page
    in Dreamweaver. In other words, the flash intro plays and then
    automatically goes to my designated home page.The intro is the
    first thing you see. Do I set that up in Flash or Dreamweaver?
    Detailed instructions needed.
    thanks

    Hi!
    Basically, you have to do that in Flash. A possible way to go
    is this: you´ve got two pages, say "index.html" and
    "pageB.html". "index.html" of course is the first page any browser
    would read. Here you´ve embedded your Flash-Intro. Now, after
    your intro´s been played, you want the browser to switch
    automatically to "pageB.html", which is your actual home page, the
    actual first one, as if it were. No problem! Go to the last frame
    in your Flash animation (authoring environment), press the F9-key
    (in order to open action script), switch to expert modus and type
    this:
    getURL("pageB.html","_self");
    Now, "pageB.html" should be replaced by the correct name of
    the page, and you might have to type a complete path so the proper
    page can be found (something like "myPage/homePage.html" or
    whatever, depending on how it is structured). You could experience
    some trouble here, but keep on it!
    The instruction "_self" lets the browser open the new page
    (your home page) in the same window, which is hopefully what you
    want. If you want a new window, type "_blank" instead.
    Hope I could help you!
    Greetings from Nobsy

  • How to add flash intro into website

    I have a custom flash intro and I do not know how to add it to my website and then make it redirect to my site. I have asked numerous people but none seem to explain the steps.  Im fairly new at this so guidance would be great.  Thanks in advance!

    hmm...
    Ok here's what I would do.
    Ito make a simple "button" on the current flash project, create a new layer or select a symol in a layer to use as the anchor. Hit window -> actions and it should bring up an actions frame. In that frame put this.....
    on(release){
    getURL("INSERT YOUR FULL URL HERE");
    and that "should" do it for a button.  I've gotta do some digging for you on an auto-loader though. Someone else might be able to help out there.
    In Adobe Flash - go to file -> publish -> settings and make sure you are publsihgin the movie itself, but also publish an html file.  This will create a file with the movie embedded into it.It'll probably put it in a new folder inside the folder that you are saving the current file to.
    now, on your server - move the .html file AND the .swf into the root of your directory. Rename the .html file to something simple like test.html or whatever, and point your FF browser to that file and see if it works correctly.
    If it is all working correctly, rename your old index.html to something like index_2.html (or whatever the inserted URL from above is) and rename the file that flash published as index.html.  Now target your domain name and it should work!
    if you want to post a link to your swf file I can see if it works here.
