Opening a CD with photos saved as JPG.
Hello I've looked through all the "error -43" files I could find. When I insert a Cd that has photos saved from around 2005, most likely from a computer running windows ... I open the picture folder on the Cd, there are no picture icons, so I ask it to display the items as a list this is what the file describes it self as "P1010020.JPG" date modified "Dec 31,1903 7:00PM". Then when I click on a photo to open I get the message "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -43)." I try finding another application to open the file with but there isn't one available to choose. Any suggestions?
Drag the files on to your desktop first, then open them.

Help< I opened an email with photo attachements and it is taking all day to download, I cant delete it, it just stops mail from working. Everything else was fine till i thought turning off the ipad and trying again would work. It didn`t, I cant turn it on at all - itjust shows the spinning wheel (loading?) icon and nothing else. Being a novice and ive only had this for a couple of weeks i need help!
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

MX922 -Problem opening scanned photos saved as jpgs
When I scan a photo, the image is saved as jpg but cannot be opened by Preview or iPhoto. Message: "file is damaged or is in an unrecognizable format." I scan from my pc, as the printer "defaults" to "set the pc to start scanning." The file extension says jpg but in the settings menu pull-down it's listed as jpg exif. Even if I choose png, I get the error message. What's the problem?

Elements 12 opens but not with photo?
When I double-click on a photo file (e.g. jpg) Elements 12 opens but the photo isn't in the Editor window. Double-clicking on the photo again opens the photo in the Editor window.
On all the other versions of Elements I have used, one double-click on a file opened Elements and the photo appeared in the Editor window.
Is Elements 12 different or is there something I need to change to make this work as it always did?

I had Elements 11 and 12 installed on my Windows 7 64-bit computer. I uninstalled Elements 11 and rebooted. Using Open With, I associated PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe with a .jpg photo. "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" was checked. Elements 12 opened with no photo visible.
I even went into Control Panel, selected Programs, then Make a File Type Always Open In a Specific Program. I associated .jpg with PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe. When I double-click on a .jpg file, Elements 12 opens (in Expert mode--which I normally use) but with no photo. When I double-click the file name again the photo now appears in Elements 12 but in the Quick mode.
Am I going to have to tweak something in the registry to get this to operate properly?

Can't view photos saved on cd from iPhoto 06 in iPhoto 08
When I insert a cd with photos saved from iphoto 06, iphoto 08 opens but the disc wont load in the application and just keeps "spinning" in the internal drive. Have tried it with different cds with iphoto 06 pictures with same result. Any ideas? (The drive does work properly with other discs for other apps.)
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You did burn those disks with iPhoto's Share->Burn menu option, right? Are you able to view the disks on the desktop via the Finder? If not and you have access to another computer, try them there. It they can't be opened by another computer then the disks have been damaged somehow or the burning was corrupted.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
Pc turns off with picture saved in iPhone.
When i take a picture with my iphone4 it gets saved automatically, but when I plug my phone into my computer the computer will not stay on. So I have to delete the photo from my phone then computer will stay on for iTunes and such. Anyone know why iPhone turns off pc with photo saved?
I called apple support and they said it was because of my Logitech webcam. So I tried to update drivers, but it didn't work so I uninstalled the webcam now it works!! You can search for more info on this subject by putting ts1502 in the search box above.

I Have a Macbook Air superdrive but it will not open CD-R with photo's on to my Macbook Air note book
Look in System Preferences > CDs & DVDs > review actions.
Also to show on desktop in Finder, on the menubar, Finder > Preferences > General tab > check CDs & DVDs.

I have to either hit cancel about 100 times to allow me to get into iphoto. I think this may have to do with photos I have edited over time where the original no longer exists but only the .edited.jpg...

Yes, I found the Masters file and they all appear to be there...
Some of the files in question say "The alias “AtlantisPhoto_01_2.jpg” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." when I try to access in the master file.
It was checked when I went into preferences already.
It sounds like you have unchecked the copy option sometime and imported photos while it was unchecked that no longer have the originals available on the same path as they were when imported

And whjile you are looking inside the iPhoto library be very careful that you do not make any changes of any sort - there are no user servicable parts in it and any changes can destroy your library

because of the mobile me switch i can not use my iphoto. i had some albums in my mobile me web gallery and one of them i had deleted the original files so it will not allow me to use my iphoto because it keeps giving me this error message and i can't get rid of it.

I don't have the original photo anymore so i can not link it to it.So, your iPhoto Library is now corrupted.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -
Can not open photos saved on to PC from iphone 4S
can not open photos saved on to PC from iphone 4S all photos are 3.5 GB
The problem is the photo viewer in the PC. Orientation metadata is stored with the photo and is not being interpreted correctly by the program being used to open it.

I have been working with photoshop a while and used to be when I clicked "save as" the ext jpg was there automatically, now it is wanting to save everything as a photoshop extention. How do I get it to go back to saving as jpg autmatically. Even regular photos where I've only used auto contrast want to be saved as photoshop. Thanks!
I've looked in the file handling preferences but don't see a spot to make jpg the default save as.
KathleenChanged the color management settings? Applying some odd stuff? Something has changed, but you do not provide enough info to make sense of it. Even accidentally clicking with a "wrong" tool may tricker this since otehrwise there may be no way to retain the PS-specific data.

I am in the middle of a job using CS 6, but at the same time opening the Creative Suite apps. I created an InDesign file in CS 6, saved it, and now I can't open it. I'm getting this message: Cannot open file because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.1). You must use that version or later to open the file." AARRGGHH! So how do I access the file?
Sounds like you opened and saved it in CC, so now you need to go back to CC and either complete the project there, or export to IDML to take it back into CS6.

I am having a problem when I try to select a photo or itunes song in Imovie or other programs. I get a window with grey lettering that says: "Open Itunes to populate this list" or "Open iphoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list. I have tried relaunching programs and nothing appears. Seemed to start happening a while back after one of my system upgrades.
After a a lengthy conversation with Apple Tech. ($20), my problem seems to be solves. The Iphoto problem solved by trashing the plist file. The Itunes was more involved. We had to create a new Itunes folder and import the files into the new folder; and then import the playlists.

CD with photos won't open on Windows computer
I inserted a CD into my Powerbook. I dragged a folder with photos onto it and burned it. On my Macs it opens fine. Someone tried to open it with their Windows computer but couldn't. Any ideas? But I did send a different CD with the same files, made the same way to a different person with Windows and they had no problem.
AFAIK if you burn a disk in OS X like that it will be Mac formatted (HFS).
Go into Disk Utility (Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities). Click the new image button. Set a Volume Name. On the Volume Size drop-down menu choose the disc size (i.e. 660MB for an 80min CD). On Volume Format choose "MS-DOS". Click Create and save to the desktop.
Drag the folder of photos to the disk image that will now be mounted on the desktop. When you're done arranging the files go back into Disk Utility and select the disk image on the left hand pane (recent images are listed). Then choose "Burn" from the images menu.
Personally I use the excellent Roxio Toast for such tasks as it's lot less fiddling and you don't get a large disk image taking up space on your hard drive.
