You cannot open the recovery files manually. they are only good when ID restarts an opens them automatically.

I have a new imac21.5 how do I open Appleworks6 Data Base files? And how do I access Quicken files?

You won't be able to use AppleWorks on that computer. You will need to open your AW database files on an older computer that can run AW6 then export your database files to a standard text format such as CSV or tab-delimited.
You can then import those files into some other database program such as iData 3.1.18.
Quicken does not currently work with Lion but Intuit has announced they will issue a new version sometime this year. You can try using another application that can import Quicken's datafiles or export the data to format other applications can use. Or you can switch to Quicken Essentials that does work with Lion.

  • FCP files will not open after data recovery

We have a TV tech lab in our high school of 15 Apple editing workstations and we archive the completed projects to external firewire drives. Well, wouldn't you know it, one of the drives crashed with all of the previous school years senior projects. The drive would mount, but none of the files were accessible. I sent the drive to a data recovery company and they were successful to a point. They were able to recover the entire drive (about 140 GB). The QT files work fine, but the FCP files are a different story. When I attempt to open an FCP file, I get the error "wrong file type". All of the files do have the correct file extension. Is there anyone out there that has experienced this? Were you able to resolve the problem? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Can you zip one or more of these files and email it to me? I'll take a crack at it.

  • Can not open winmail.dat PDF file attachments

clients send pdf attachments usually electrical drawings for bid and a winmail.dat pdf file shows in attachment. I click on and error message says can not open this type file. I have adobe reader Why?

If you can't open the attachment, have your client/ customer or whatever fix their defective copy of Outlook and send real mail attachments not TNEF encoded rubbish. They are spewing defective email every time they click send on a mail with an attachment.

  • CS6 opens with Auto Recovery files every launch.

I know where the recovery files are.  Finding and deleting them isn't the issue.
My understanding of Auto Recover is that when a working file is saved and closed, the corresponding Auto Recover psb should be trashed automatically.
Every evening I save and close all my work, quit Photoshop and shut down the Mac.  Every morning when I start Photoshop, at least one Auto Recovery file opens.  It's the last file(s) I was working on the previous evening.
I've toggled Auto Recover on/off, trashed the folder and had CS6 recreate it.  Nothing works.  Every morning, I am presented with a psb of the previous evening's work.
My scratch disk is a dedicated 100gb SSD.  I have triple verified that CS6 is not writing recovery files to a different location.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Is there any problem at/after quitting Photoshop?

  • How to open some *.dat (tdm) files by script via sud?

    Hello,
i want to make for a script a GUI (sud) were i can mark some dat- or tdm-files in a directory (press ctrl) and give the names with path back to the script.
May be as vector or matrix.
It is possible or is there any DIAdem-function which includes this?
    Regards

    Hi Traderhans,
I think what you need is the command FileDlgShow. Please refer to the help for more information. If this command is not sufficient you can also use the command FileNameGet. But this command is much more complicated.
    Hope this helps.

  • Opening a data storage file after the Labview code ends storing the data

    Hi to all,
In my code, I am storing the data related to the status and quality of the devices like pressure and temperature in TDMS file. I just wanted to know if there is a possibility for the user to view this data in MS Excel automatically when the program stops. Of course this can be done manually by going to the folder which stores the tdms file. But i just had this idea. If it is possible then can you please give me some ideas as to how to make it. I don't want to use a TDMS viewer. I hope my prblm is clear. If not please let me know.
Thanks a lot for viewing this post.

    KEMlab,
You could use this add-on for excel and activeX to do this.

  • I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open.  Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files the error message is  could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized. "  Any help or are they corrupted

I just used stellar phoenix mac data recovery and it seemed to work but now my files won't open.  Even though they are "jpeg, mov" files, the error message is  "could not be opened". The movie's file format isn't recognized. "  Any help or are they corrupted?

Sounds to me like the file is probably corrupt. If you had hard drive corruption or damage, that could easily result in recovered files not being fully intact. If you were trying to recover accidentally deleted files, it's possible they might have been partially overwritten before recovering. There are never any guarantees with file recovery.
Without more information on the circumstances that led you to try recovery, it's hard to give advice on what to try from here. You could always try another file recovery tool, like Data Rescue 3. Just be sure you're taking appropriate precautions when doing recovery. See Recovering deleted files.

  • After data file recovery, files are red and won't open

My HD crashed so I used Data Rescue 3 to recover my files. It worked but now all the files are highlighted red and won't open. The file sizes look right but for instance when I try to open a mov file it says, this is not a movie file. My FCP projects won't open either. Does anybody know what the problem is and what I need to do to get the files usable again?

Data recovery can be hit and miss. Data Rescue is unlikely to be able to recover every single byte from every single file. If so much as a single byte is out of place, QuickTime will be unable to read the file.
I would suggest you give QT Repair a try and if that doesn't work, try File Salvage:

  • Data recovery house tainted my Mac-only files: help!

I sent a failed ext. FW drive (clicking sound, wouldn’t mount) to a fairly-well-known data recovery specialist that advertised PC and Mac formats. The drive contained numerous Mac-only files, including Sound Designer II audio files (.sd2), Final Cut Pro (.fcp), and Digital Performer files (native, no suffix), to name a few.
After said specialist started working on the drive, it became frighteningly apparent that they were not up to speed on Mac systems. To make a long story short, after a couple of weeks I received a hard drive formatted FAT32, and every Mac-only file showed up in Finder as a Unix Executable file.
My first thought was they were using Windows-based software and had corrupted all my Mac-only files beyond repair. Forging ahead and knowing nothing about scripts, I used a 3rd party program called Super Get Info and was able to change the Type and Author of the Digital Performer files, and got them to open. So far, so good. But changing the Type and Author of the .sd2 files didn’t yield the same results; Finder sees the type, size, etc. but no audio program (DP, Peak, Jam) will open them.
Thinking I was screwed, I opened another project in DP that contained audio files which were still recognized in Finder as Unix Executables, and they played! I have no idea why this works---no other program will open them independently---but it shows if I can get an app to recognize them, they are still valid files.
Is there a way to dig deeper, besides just changing the Type and Author, to essentially get back all the header(?) information that was originally there in the .sd2 files (before the "data recovery") so an audio program can see that these are indeed valid files and legit to operate on? Something in Developer Tools, 3rd party, etc.?
    Thanks,
    Roger

Extern firewire drives often come formatted as FAT32 - so unless you reformatted it yourself that may have been the way it was. When Mactintosh files are saved to a FAT32 file system, the resource information is written to a file with a ._ added to the front of the file name. If you go to a terminal window and cd to your extern drive, "ls -A" will show if the resource information is there. For a file call "file.s2d", you should see a hidden file call "._file.s2d". Some utilites have trouble creating resource forks on FAT32 drives - so your utility may not be working. Try moving some of your files back to your main drive and correct the Creator and file type there - may be that will work.

  • Quicktime Mov File size reduce after Data Recovery

Following a Data Recovery from Apple Care, most of my video files have been reduced to 120x90 pixels making them unwatchable. The Format is Apple Photo-JPEG, 120x90, Millions 16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo, 48000 kHz with a Data Size of 15.16 MB. Other QT mov files bring up the following message "The movie could not be opened" "A necessary data reference could not be resolved"
Is there any way I can get the Dimensions back to 640x480 and can the necessary data reference be resolved.
My Quicktime Player is Version 7.6.4 (518.35)

Is there any way I can get the Dimensions back to 640x480 and can the necessary data reference be resolved.
Assuming the original data is in tact, the normal work flow would be to either reset/resize the movie's "Current Size" setting and re-save the file store the new setting using QT Pro or use QT Pro, an alternative QT application, or a third-part application to re-compress the file to the proper dimensions but this approach, depending on settings, can degrade the video. As to the missing "references," depending on the required "references," it might be possible to re-link/restore things if you know enough about the file structure (which I don't).

  • Time Machine drive files after data recovery.....permissions problem?

Client had a hard drive crash, and then turned out her Time Machine drive was bad. We ran a data recovery on the Time Machine drive, which produced about 40GB of disk images...12 in all. There is a very promising image which shows the user folders, and we can click on hers and see her folders. BUT...when we try to open Documents, we get a message that
"Item "Documents" is in use by Mac OS X and cannot be opened"
Would there be an override of permissions or some such available to take a peek inside and hopefully pull files?
    Thanks to all in advance.

  • Database msdb cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space - in recovery pending status

came in this fine monday morning and it looks like developers were running some kind of trace that filled the primary DATA folder with about 80,000 5mb trace files.  now that process has stopped and the logfiles have been cleaned up, but when attempting to connect to the server using the management console i get the error:
Database 'msdb' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space.  See the SQL Server errorlog for details. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
when i check the status it is in recovery pending mode.  i have a backup from yesterday but im not sure if this database became corrupt before that backup or not because this process was ongoing over the weekend.  the last timestamp on the msdb and log files is 7am this morning..
I am not sure how to proceed recovering the msdb database with limiting interruption to the users.  any advice is extremely appreciated.  this is sql server 2008.  i can login via sqlcmd and see it is in recovery pending status:
    1> select state_desc databasestatus_sysdtabase from
    2> sys.databases where name ='msdb'
    3> go
    select state_desc databasestatus_sysdtabase from

For someone experiencing a similar problem this answer is unacceptable. You're basically telling me to reboot the server to fix this.  You vaguely mention using process explorer to find out who is using the file.  Can you please provide
some more information on that?  I have a similar problem and rebooting the server to fix it is not an option.  This problem keeps reoccurring.
OS Error 32 means file has an open handle by someone else. If that is a user process then you can catch it via Process Explorer. If it's a kernel mode object then it's difficult to catch that and restart is the only choice.

How export to csv work in safari browser?
In my application export to csv open like a raw data in new tab.
    But other browsers working great!.
Need to open in a csv file or save it as a csv file.
Please suggest me. Thank you in advance!.

    Hi Adrian,
Why don't you try any another software for opening CSV files then Notepad ? According to my experience, you can use these softwares to open an CSV files and they are:-
    Microsoft Excel
    Open Office Calc
    Google Docs
Also there is an additional tool available known as CSV viewer. You may try this, download it from here http://www.csvviewer.com/
I've never used Notepad for opening CSV files, because sometimes it contains some symbols which are not not at all compatibile with Notepad.

  • Error 7 occurred at Open/Create/Replace File in Open Config Data.vi

I have a .vi that was working fine with Labview 7.0.  I now have upgraded to Labview Professional 8.0, and I am trying to build a stand alone  executable.  When I build the executable, build an installer, and then try to install it on another computer then run it......... I get the "Error 7 occurred at Open/Create/Replace File in Open Config Data.vi" error.  Any ideas?

    Hello,
In addition to the LabVIEW Help, there is an Application Note on Distributing Applications with the LabVIEW Application Builder and a knowledge base article What Is The Build Specification Feature In Application Builder? that might be helpful.
    Also, here
is a knowledge base article on what Dennis has described and it
provides an example to call an extra Strip Path function. Also, instead
of using a Match Pattern function, you could use the App.Kind property
node (use Open Application Reference, Property Node: Application ->
Kind, and Close Reference) to determine if you are running in a
    Run-time system.
