Opening a file from Oracle Forms
How do I open a file directly, that's located on my desktop or the server from Oracle 10g Forms 9i ?
The webutil package has a open_file command for files on the client. The text_io package has a similar command for the server machine.

How to open .cmdrw file from Oracle Forms 10g
Hi,
We need to call *.cmdrw* file from Oracle forms 10g. Is there any way to call *.cmdrw* file from Oracle forms 10g?
Thanks for the help.
Viishnu NekkantiIn case you want to open a .cmdrw with its associated application you can use the following procedure:
webutil_host.NonBlocking( 'rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler ' || client_filename );This works for every file where a program has been associated to its file extension. (Adobe Reader for *.pdf, Microsoft Word for *.doc, Microsoft Excel for *.xls and so on)

How to call pdf files from oracle forms
I have a pdf file in the server , I need to call this and open when a button is pressed in the oracle forms.
Please let me know how to do this.
Thanks,
PrevinFrank,
I have oracle applications and I want to open a pdf file located in the server from a button in oracle applications.
Previn,
you don't mention the Forms release you are running.
If you are running Forms on the web, you can use
web.show_document() to load files from the Web if
they are accessible via HTTP.

Open a file from oracle report
Hi everyone,
I need your help, i have a report and there is a field which is the location of a file. the report is generated in pdf and the location of the file is a link and user can click on it. But when the report and files related to the links are copied in another location, the links in the report do not open the file, is there a way to have like a dynamic process, so if the report and the files location change, link can continue to open the file in current location.
I hope you can understand my problem
Thanks. If your LINK is fixed, it may open from other location. BUT as per my knowledge NOT POSSIBLE.

Access Flat Files From Oracle Forms Using Simba
Hi,
I need to access Flat Files using Simba and display the data using Oracle Forms on Solaris. The Flat Files, Simba and Oracle Forms is on Solaris.
Thanks.
Sanjay R Naidu.Hi,
not knowing the flat file's format and why you need SIMBA for it, Forms provides a text_io package that can read from files. You need to parse the file's content and then bring this to a datablock.

Open word document from oracle forms 10g
Hi,
Could any one please guide me how to open a word document from forms 10g on client machine (windows). My word document resides on application server (unix).
Thanks for the help in advance.I tried that, but it doesn't work.
What I have done is, I have written a java code that has a function ope_word that opens up a word document. I have created jar out of it called wordbean.jar.
Add this wordbean.jar in $ORACLE_HOME/forms/java directory and also added in the formsweb.cfg file (archive_jini=wordbean.jar)
Then I created a form and usinf fbean.register and fbean.invoke functions of forms, I am trying to call wordbean.jar.
F.bean.register is registering all the components of wordbean.jar but it is not opening the word document.
Could you please help ?? -

Open documents/files from Application Server in forms 6i
Hello All,
Our requirement is to open files that are in Application server( We do not want to upload them into database).
Is there a way to open this files from forms 6i.
I am wondering how the "View Output" or View log button works on the concurrent program submission form. Its the doing the same thing i.e pulling the file from Application server and showing up.
Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to get this done.
Thanks
SunilI assume you are using Forms 6i in web mode here. Then it is just a URL to the file if you properly map to a directory where you store the files:
web.show_document('http://...../myfile.pdf');
But it also looks like you are using Oracle Apps, so might want to ask it in the e-Business Suite. -
Calling Java Script to open a Map (Like Google Map) from Oracle Forms 10g
Hello,
We are on Oracle EBS rel 12, Forms 10g. We have a requirement of calling a Custom Map application (Like Google Maps) from Oracle Forms 10g.
When the user enters the address like town, city, country etc and clicks on a button there should be a call to this Google Map like application which will pass the co-ordinates (Latittude, Longitude) to the map and shows the place on it. If the user selects a different location on this maps and closes the window the parameters co-ordinates (Latittude, Longitude) should be back in the calling form and this new location should replace the original location.
I appreciate if I can get some help for the above requirements.
Thank you.
GMThank you for your reply. I was reading on the metalink that we could use the to call the java script from oracle Forms 10g (Doc ID 265863.1)
Example:
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('javascript:void(window.open("http://www.oracle.com","","location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,status=no,"));self.close()','_blank');
I tried it but it did not open the any window as it claims. Am I missing anything? Is there any IE related setting which I need to modify for the above to work?
Regards
GM
