Opening a .Mac email using Safari

I feel a little stupid on this but, I configured the iPhone mail app for my girlfriend. Everything works perfectly as it should. I wanted to check my email and rather than re-configuring the mail app I accessed my .Mac account with Safari. Logged in no problem, can see the emails, no problem. My question is how to you open an email? There is no way to double click or no key to press to open the mail. Does anyone have an answer? No one at our local Apple Store could figure how to open them.
Thanks,
Ed

Ed Weaver,
Sorry, the .mac web based email can be viewed by just clicking the email. The email window is split into two sections just the header information on top and full emails down below. If you click on any header youll see the email appear in the bottom half of the window.
Its a little easier to see in the portrait mode than it is in landscape.
You can also click the header> actions>print to open in a new window

    Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
    Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
    Relaunch Safari and test.

Outlook Web Access sends an illegal Content-Dispositon header to Firefox. This is no longer allowed in Firefox 8. Firefox 9 will have a workaround for this so that Microsoft has time to fix their software.<br>

This is probably an issue with the new Yahoo code that Yahoo needs to fix on their site.<br />
You can try to contact them or post on a Yahoo forum if there is such a forum for problems with Yahoo! Mail.

  • I cannot open mail through my .mac account using Safari.

Starting on June 11 in the afternoon, the .mac page changed appearance and now will not accept my login. I can access .mac through another browser, however, I prefer to continue using Safari. Is there an explanation that will help me return to my normal login process?

When you log in, hit the 'Login' button rather than the Return key - this appears to be a bug they've created.

  • Downloading attached zip file from emails using safari

How to download, and where will be the downloaded attached zip file in email be stored using safari? How to open and save the zip file attached to the email? Do you need an app to open and store the zip file?

The app GoodReader (I don't know if there are any free apps that can also do it) can be used to zip and unzip email attachments
press and hold the zip file in your email - after a couple of seconds you should get a popup, with one option being 'Open in GoodReader' which you should select
GoodReader should then open with the zip file listed under My Documents
select Manage Files on the right-hand side of GoodReader, select the zip file, and touch the Unzip button that appears on the right
You should also be able to download zip files directly into GoodReader by typing the URL in its Wed Downloads sectio.

  • Can't copy & paste image into email using Safari

Just what it says. If I use firefox, the image (not just the link) appears in the reply text box of the email I'm writing.
if I use Safari, all I get is a little blue box with a question mark.

I don't use GMail, so I can't answer your question. Maybe someone else can. Try the GMail user forums.

  • How do you recall or retrieve an email using safari

How do you recall or retrieve an email that was sent by error using safari?

Unless otherwise noted, sending an email can’t be undone; its content will be in the Sent folder and can be retrieved from there, but the email itself has left the places you have access to.

  • Opening pdfs in internet using safari

I am using Mountain Lion OS and have experienced the problem of the "black screen" (Apple's blue screen equivalent) using Safari, when I go to an internet site that requires opening a PDF file. If I use Chrome as my browser I do not have this problem. I have also noticed problems with filling in an online PDF file when I was allowed to by the owner of the file. I can't say that this is related to the black screen but happened about the same time. This happened using both Safari and Chrome. I noticed the black screen for online PDFs when I had Lion OS as well. I have updated the Adobe software but nothing changed. I have checked the System Preferences for any change that I might have made but found nothing related or helpful. I have checked with Adobe but no response (as usual?)
    Any suggestions please?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Hm, Windows has this dang tendency to make simple things hard :-/
First note that Putty won't help you much, because it allows you to log into remote SSH servers, but I don't think it gives you a "local shell", i.e. replace or extend the normal DOS shell (or whatever it's called nowadays) that comes with Windows.
That said, I don't know whether you can find Windows ports of some Unix tool that would help you somewhere in the "vicinity" of Cygwin http://www.cygwin.com/ or so ... I don't use Windows enough to know that
My personal solution to a similar problem is to rent a Linux root server, together with a few friends, which gives us all a platform to perform anything in the internet as long as we have an SSH capable computer where we are.
If you have an ADSL flatrate you could even leave a computer at home on and SSH into that...

Hello, I've been trying for two days now to get email set up . Verizon is what im using..but can't get it to accept my user name /password..Verizon said there is a problem with safari, and that I need to call apple, and apple sends me back to verizon. can anyone give me some help!!!!!! Donna

Try running a system and user cache cleaning utility.
Check Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption that includes recommended system and user cache cleaning utilities.
If this doesn't work, try downloading and using the Firefox browser which is free. If the same occurs when using Firefox, this will indicate the problem is with Verizon.

  • I have downloaded Firefox 3.6.13 for my Mac OS X laptop, but now I cannot open my Hotmail emails.

I have used Firefox since I purchased my laptop 3 1/2 years ago and update Firefox when updates are available. For the past few days, I can open my Hotmail inbox, but when I click on new or old emails, they will not open up. I can access and open my email using Safari, but I prefer to use my Firefox for a browser. What can I do to remedy this?

Thank you for your help. Some bookmarks had been inserted into 3.6.15 before I attempted the import, and I had assumed -- incorrectly -- that the imported bookmark file would override those, not just add onto them. When I looked lower on the list of bookmarks, I realized that the imported bookmarks were, indeed, there. I was also confused because the bookmarks toolbar did not automatically change to the toolbar from Navigator. All is well now. Again, thank you.

  • I cannot open any pdf files in Safari on my Mac Book

I cannot open any pdf-files using Safari anymore. Does anybody know what is going on?
    Thank´s a lot!

    Found the solution online!
An easy way to locate a file is to open the Finder. From the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this in exactly as you see it here >     /Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you see the PDF Browser plugin, move it to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari to test.
