Opening a new browser page when clicking on a link

hi there
when i am in an internet page and want to open a link, sometimes it will open a new window and other times it will take the page that the link is on, and change that page into the new page that I linked on.
If I want to keep that page that contains the link, how do I get a new window to open when I click on the link and keep my orginal page open as well?
Thank you

Press the Shift, Option, and Command keys while clicking on the link. The exact combination of keys needed varies depending on the settings in the Tabs section of Safari's preferences; you can check this screen to find out the current state without changing any settings.

    Hi,
    Even if i create different regions , it is not possible for me to place them between items.
    But anyways, I created a separate button in the same region and it works fine.
    Thanks Jari for your help.

  • Added URL in Static Text To Open in New Browser Page

    Hi to all,
    We have added a static text with a url, to open in a new browser page. The url works as it opens in the current browser. But we would like to open in new browser page.
    we used a similar notation like the following in the static text:
    href=www.oracle.com
    target="_blank">Oracle</a>
    but this does not open in new browser.
    target="_blank" tag should open in new browser
    Does anyone have an idea what maybe happening.

    purposely left out <a tag from reference....as in my post....only the link was coming about.

    Introduce a "target=blank" into the HTML code!

  • How to open a new IE page when user clicks on a button or link

    Hi Experts,
    I have created WD program which fetches data from R/3.
    I have to create a link or button on the WD program. When the user will click on the link, another IE page should open. Some processing will be carried out by WD. The result of WD processing should be displayed in this new IE page.
    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    You need to create a seperate window and embed a new view in it. and yeah for accessing that window you need to create one apllication also which is connected to this window.
    Then in the event handler of the button's click action write the follwing code:-
    String deployableObjectName =
                   wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart().getDeployableObjectName();
    try {
                   // Get deployable object part of target application.
                   // Precondition: assume, that other application belongs to the same
                   // Web Dynpro Project (Deployable Object)
                   WDDeployableObjectPart deployableObjectPart =
                        WDDeployableObject.getDeployableObjectPart(
                             deployableObjectName,
                             <window name>,
                             WDDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
                   urlToTargetApp =
                        WDURLGenerator.getWorkloadBalancedApplicationURL(
                             deployableObjectPart,
                             UrlParam);
              } catch (WDURLException e) {
              } catch (WDDeploymentException e) {
                              IWDWindow win1 =  wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(urlToTargetApp,"Ouput");
    win1.show();
    This will open a new window and then in the wddoinit of the new window's view you can execute the bapi and display the content accordingly.

  • Opening a new browser window when hyperlinking

    How do you force a browser to open a new window when hyperlinking? Can a command be embedded to do this in the URL? I'm trying to create a hyperlink to my iCal calendar from a site I do not have hosted at .Mac. I would like for the page from which the hyperlink occurs to stay open.

    Unfortunately, this capability appears not to be included in iWeb in the current version. It is possible, however to edit the URLs AFTER PUBLISHING in the HTML files that iWeb produces. I don't know if this is more trouble than it is worth to you, but you would simply need to add a {a href="URL" target="_blank"} command to the HTML.

    Please, urgency is your own problem and thus irrelevant to us. This way you are seemingly putting pressure to us, which is rude.
    At any way, a 404 simply means that the URL is wrong.

  • Bookmarks do NOT open in a browser window when click "show all bookmarks"

    Currently using Firefox 30.0.3 Mac OS 10.9.5. When I tried to edit my collection of bookmarks buy opening the "show all bookmarks" in the pull-down menu., nothing happened. This usually opens a new tab or window with the bookmarks displayed. I then researched HELP and tried all those solutions to no avail. Even where the help topic says a bookmarks window will open, it does not. I have no way of editing or deleting en masse outdated bookmarks. Yes I can do so individually through the bookmark button on the toolbar - what a pain in the _________s.
    Is this problem intentional, or a glitch?

    Cory MH - Thank you for your suggestions. The bookmarks window DOES open when Firefox is in safe mode. So I went through the troubleshooting process and nothing there helped. Extensions (there are only two) are disabled, I am using the default appearance. All plug-ins are set on "ask to activate". I should mention that this bookmark problem only just began, and never happened before the most recent updates - there were two only a day or so apart.

  • Changing browser default when clicking on a link

    Hi,
    I'm wondering if it is possible to change the browser mail opens when you click on a link in an email from Safari to Firefox?
    Failing that is it possible to get Safari to resume a download from where it left off?
    I'm trying to download a large file from relayit.com and Safari keeps timing out when it's 95% done. Then when I try get the rest, it starts the 4 hour download again from scratch!
    Very frustrating!
    Thanks in advance for any help!
    L

    Yes, that's possible, but you'll have to install a Contextual Menu item first, which would then show up as an option in your Services menu. First, you need to download and install WordService near the bottom of this page. At the same time, you should download and install >a href="http://www.manytricks.com/servicescrubber/">ServiceScrubber to control which Services you see, as there are many which you may not need or use.
    Installing WordService will give you the ability to Control-click on a link and open it in Camino or Opera (I don't know why Firefox is not included).
    Resuming downloads from the point they left off is a server-enabled function; if the web administrator hasn't enabled that feature, it won't work. You should be able to Get Info on the portion of the file you do get and look in the Spotlight Comments filed for the actual URL it came from, then copy and paste that into the Download window of another browser (you will not see the paste, the download should just start).

  • Being directed to an incorrect web page when clicking on a link

    I use Firefox 4.0.1 and Windows SP SP3.
    For the past couple of weeks my browser response has been very slow loading pages and occassionally (10-15 times a day) will redirect me to an incorrect location when I click on a google search link. If I back up and click the link a second time I am sent to the correct location.
    Can anyone offer a suggestion on a fix for this problem?

    Press the Shift, Option, and Command keys while clicking on the link. The exact combination of keys needed varies depending on the settings in the Tabs section of Safari's preferences; you can check this screen to find out the current state without changing any settings.

  • Why does my blog not refresh itself when I open a new browser page?

    I add a new post to my blog. Sometimes it shows up in the browser. I close the browser, maybe....Today it has been about five days since I wrote a post. It still does not show up when I open my browser in Firefox. How do I refresh the browser? What should I do?

    Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
    Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    * Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    * Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • How can I get Firefox 3.0 to work as a browser on my iBook G4 with OS10.3.9 so I can work my Hotmail email account? The download loads OK but will not open to a browser page when I double click on it. Tom.

    Have been using Firefox 2.0 just fine for years. But now stupid Windows Live Hotmail has made it impossible for me to "use" my email, such as doing Bcs or Attaching something, or even typing new text in the message box. Hotmail tells me I have to update my Firefox browser. But updating to Firefox 3.0 due my OS system limits does not now allow me to open onto the internet even after a successful download of 3.0. Tom.

    Firefox 3 will not run on OS X 10.3.9, it requires at least 10.4
    Try one of these browsers to see if you can access Hotmail - [http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey1.1.19/ SeaMonkey 1.1.19] or [http://caminobrowser.org/download/ Camino 1.6.11]

  • I can't open a new tab unless I click on a link in an existing tab. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.

    I have a Gateway laptop and I'm running Windows 7.

    Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

  • The + button or "open a new tab" does not correspond. I also tried with Ctrl+T but I can not open a new tab unless I click on a link in the existed tab. What can I do?

    I have seen nothing relevant in options

    The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
    There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • Opening New Browser window for click event on an image

    hi all,
    I want someone to help me out solving the problem of opening
    a new browser window on the mouse click event of an image or a
    button etc.... The new window would contain the datagrid details
    from the main window, but in an expanded form. If at all there is a
    solution, I even want to know whether there is anyway for sizing
    the poped up window,because I dont want the new poped up window to
    cover the entire screen.
    For getting better idea of my problem, the best example I
    could give is the popup window that appears when we click on the
    preview button while posting the message to the forum.
    Someone please do help me out in this regard.
    Thanks,
    amar.

    I'd definitely try to use a Flex popup... but the
    flash.net.navigateToURL method is a simple way to open a popup
    window in a new browser. You can pass any data needed by the new
    page using the URLRequest and/or URLVariables. The URL you navigate
    to could, of course, be another Flex application if necessary. I
    use this only when I need to open a popup window on another site,
    or an HTML formatter report or something similar.
    Concerning yourself with the size of the popup window may be
    a bad design choice also. I, for example, have my browser
    configured to open all popups in a new tab regardless of sizing
    constraints imposed by the designer. If it is absolutely necessary
    for you to have control over the size of your popup window, you
    should follow the advice given by others and use a Flex
    popup.
