Opening a pdf document automatically from the program

Hi guys,
I wonder if it's possible to 'run'/open from a standalone appliation a pdf document. I mean, my program produces a pdf file and it saves it on the local c drive. once this is completed i wonder how can i open it and show it to the enduser. (I want to save the time and hassle of locating it and double clicking the document)
thanks
peter

Let me elaborate a little more on what I am trying to do.
(1) A website (#1) is opened after entering a UID and PWD.
(2) Within website #1, a link is clicked which opens a second web app (#2) in a seperate window using window.open().
(3) Within website #2, a user can click on a link which opens a PDF as _SELF.
(4) If the user:
     (a) exits out of website #1 by closing the brower
     (b) we would like to automatically close the PDF from website #2 also, as this contains sensitive information and most of the time the users are forgetting to close it

  • Opening Safari pdf documents automatically in Preview

With Lion, Safari opens pdf documents in a Safari tab by default (as it did in OS X 10.6).  I want pdfs to open automatically in Preview (or Acrobat depending on what I have set as the default pdf reader) without having to Cmd-Click/Open in Preview.  This was possible in 10.6 by disabling an adobe plugin.  Is there now an option for opening pdf documents in Preview by default, rather than in a Safari tab?

Also these documents are protected from Saving and Printing.
You can't protect PDF documents from saving.

  • How do I close a PDF document automatically when the browser is closed?

I have a web app writen in HTML/ASP. In order to acccess this app, our users have to enter a password and user id. Once on the main page of the app, they can click on a link which opens the reader in another window. Quite often, when finished with the app, they close the browser, but leave the reader window open (with sensitive information). It is becoming to riskly to hope that they remember to close that window also, even with visual reminders. I would like for that window to close automatically when the browser with the app is closed.
    Can this be done?

  • Create Billing document automatically from the outbound delivery

    Hi experts,
I'm not sure my client's requirement can be implemented but i'm posting this thread just in case someone have a suitable solution.
My client wloud like that billing documents (VF01) are created automatically when the outbound document (VL01N) is saved. He doesn't wont to perform an additional action, so the the custom transaction solution doesn't satisfy his requirement
Is there any solution to do this? (User Exit or Customizing)
    Thanks

    Hi,
One idea. You can do it with the userexit USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT in report MV50AFZ1. Here, you have the number of delivery. I suggest you to call a BAPI with a job created with the sequence of functions JOB_OPEN', 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
, 'RS_CREATE_VARIANT', 'JOB_SUBMIT'. 'JOB_CLOSE' with a gap of time (eg: 2 or 3 minutes). You can call a function IN UPDATE TASK in this function. (read Note 415716 - User exits in delivery processing), and in the coding of this function you can create the job and call a report with the BAPI (for instance, BAPI_BILLINGDOC_CREATEMULTIPLE). After, you can control the creation of invoices with tcode SM37.
    I hope this helps you
    Regards
    Eduardo
PD: I forgot it. Control in which event you call the BAPI via job. I suggest you when you create the movement 601. You can do it with this coding:
        IF xvbuk-wbstk NE yvbuk-wbstk
        AND xvbuk-wbstk = 'C'.
           "code
        ENDIF.

  • Print PDF Document Automatically

    Hello All,
We are developeing BI Publisher reports from existing oracle custom repots.
One of the solution has to be implemented is "The output PDF file should be printed automatically".
When i googled this a page read,
"As per Bug 1243042, Oracle Applications supports PDF output for viewing only, "This is the way the Applications are designed and implemented... anything beyond this would be more of an enhancement request.". That is, printing PDF directly from the concurrent manager is not supported. This concurrent manager limitation is also present in release 11.5."
Can we print a PDF document automatically upon the compeletion of a request.
If we can then how can i implement this.
Can we use shell program implement this.
    Regards,
    Kannan Balasubramanian

    Hi Ron,
We have R12 on AIX 5.3, I have configured pasta, oracle standard reports like "Active Users" are being printed to printer in post script format.
But I am having issue in printing XML Publisher reports in pdf format, I have extracted ghostscript-8.64.tar and compiled and installed as applmgr with required pdf2ps utility. I have included in tools_path, bounced ccm.
The XML publisher PO print request fails with "/pdf2ps[38]: gs: not found."
    Any help is apperciated.
    Thanks

  • Opening a pdf file automatically opens last 13 pdf files viewed

I use Adobe Acrobat a lot and for some reason, I opened a pdf document yesterday and the last 13 files I viewed automatically opened.  I rebooted my computer and it still does the same thing.
Does anyone know how to switch off this automation?
    Appreciate anyone's feedback.
    Sincerely,
    dd1atslb

Do a Get Info on one of the PDF files - select the file (click it once), then press Command-I (Get Info in the File menu).
In the Get Info window, about half-way down is an item "Open with:" - set the pulldown menu in that section to "Preview".
If you want to make that change to all PDFs, then click the "Change All..." button.

Just upgraded to Lion, can't open any pdf file downloaded from the internet that was fine with Leopard before. I just got a black screen when I clicked on a pdf icon on a given internet site, and same happened with several sites that I visited. How can I overcome this obstacle ?

Try two things with Safari not running:
    1) Launch Adobe Reader, open its preferences, select the Internet category, and check the values under "Display PDF in browser using".  If it's checked, try unchecking it.
    2) Look in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (at the top-level of your boot volume) for something names AdobePDFViewer.plugin.  If you see such a file, try moving it to a folder named "Disabled Plug-Ins" (if such a folder exists) or onto the Desktop.
    Then see how things work.

  • When I open a pdf document from my dropbox to view it, the document shows up blank, even though it is filled out. This also happened with pdf documents that have been e-mailed to me.

When I open a pdf document from my dropbox to view it, the document appears blank, even though I know the information is actually there. This also has happened with pdf documents that have been e-mailed to me, then opened to view and they are blank?? Why are they showing up blank?

When I open emails with PDFs I click on the attachment (doing this all on my iPad) it gives me the option to "open in iBooks", I accept then after that the document is sucked into my iPad but I can't do anything with the PDF after that.  Where is the actual file on my iPad? Why can't I email or send these PDFs to my cloud (Dropbox)?
It's like once they go into iBooks they're stuck forever.

    Hi.
Does this only open on that specific site?
In any case, you may want to:
    - instruct Firefox to handle PDF files in a specific way by going into Tools > Options > Applications and selecting the option you want for the PDF files
    - reinstall Adobe Reader and its Firefox plugin
    - install another reader instead of Adobe Reader. I recommend Foxit Reader ( http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/ ), since it's free, VERY light, VERY fast, safe and also has a Firefox plugin (make sure you don't have both Adobe Reader plugin and Foxit Reader plugin enabled/installed at the same time in Firefox)

When I sign in to the Adobe Reader XI (which is the only option that I have to open a pdf document, I will sign in to the Adobe ID sign-in page. After I do this, the "Convert To" box goes "gray" and I am unable to convert the document I have selected.  It was working great for the first week that I used it, but now it doesn't give me the converting option.  I am very frustrated as I have done nothing to change anything, and I was thinking this was so great...now I am just pulling out my hair and do not have the option of calling anyone since no phone numbers are listed. I am VERY busy and do not have time to sit and wait over a half an hour to "chat", which I tried to do yesterday.  All I want to do is very simply, convert pdfs to Word.  I have paid for this and am not getting any help. I am not very savvy when it comes to Adobe this program and Adobe that program...I feel I am being scammed as I do not get simple answers for something that appeared was going to be simple. You can't even call customer service to talk to someone live to help walk you through.

    Hello Kathie,
Sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
Please let me know if you have tried converting any other PDF to word with Reader.
Alos, please sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials. Click on 'ExportPDF' tab and upload the PDF that you want to convert to Word.
Let me know if this converts fine.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • How to I stop the Preview Pane in Windows 7 retaining control when I open a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat (Reader is NOT installed)

I have the preview pane active when selecting PDF Documents.  When I open a PDF document I am unable to save any changes. the error message I receive:
"The documents could not be saved. The file ma be read-only,or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name of in a different folder"
The document is not read only and no other user has it open.  If I turn the preview pane OFF there is no problem saving changes.  I have also un-installed Adobe Reader.
Other programs (such as Excel, Word) do not experience the same problems as the PDF documents.
    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi snoreaustralia,
It sounds like you just need to associate the PDF filename extension with Acrobat, rather than Preview. Please see this document from the Microsoft Help for instructions on choosing the default program for opening a particular file type (in your case, PDF): Change which programs Windows uses by default - Windows Help

  • How do you permanently disable Tool Pane from showing up every time you open a pdf document in Adobe Reader DC 2015?

Just like 9.9/10 people out here in the real world, I use Adobe Reader to read pdf files and never (ever) use the Tool Pane for anything.
How do I permanently disable it from showing up, instead of having to close it *each & every time* I open a pdf document? The majority of people don't want thins thing covering up the page they are trying to read.

Okay, seems I've stumbled upon an ugly workaround but it works for me. I'm using Windows 8.1. Go to the install directory, i.e." C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroApp\ENU". Create a new subfolder (I used "Disabled"). Move 3 files from the "ENU" folder into the new "Disabled" folder: AppCenter_R.aapp & Home.aapp & Viewer.aapp. Open a PDF and no more Tool Pane! I originally moved just the "Viewer" file but if you clicked on "Home" or "Tools" on the toolbar you couldn't go back to the "Document." Moving all 3 files takes care of that issue. Like a lot of people I don't and won't ever use any of the tools. I just want a reader. Let me know if this works for you.

How can I open a PDF document from a executable file??

You can't avoid the echo box, unfortunate but that's the
    compromise if you go with
    the BAT file method.
For many years I have been using Flash Jester tool call
    JStart. Works like charm
all the way, no extra pop up windows :)
    http://flashjester.com/?section=tricks_jtools_jstart
JStart will allow you to not only launch a program, but use
    parameters to make the
program open files, perform special actions and just about
    anything you can use
parameters for. You can also choose to launch files with
    their default associated
    program.
Another solution is provided by by Rick Turoczy, it's pretty
    old but should still
work. Perhaps give it a try.
    http://www.flashgeek.com/tutorials/07_launchapp_01.asp
Easy to use tool that allow you to launch basically anything
    from the projector.
As long as there is system default application supporting
    particle file.
