Opening a .pdf in a Portfolio causes pop up "For best experienc use Acrobat 9 or Reader 9 or later."

I created a portfolio. In it is a converted Word doc .pdf with links to two other .pdf's that are inside the same portfolio.  The other two .pdf's open normally when clicked on.  The one with the links gives me a pop up message when the icon is clicked that is supposed to open one of the other .pdf's.
"For best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later."  It shows as a cover sheet in the upper left hand corner.  What is causing this and how do I turn that off so it opens the linked .pdf's normally?

Well, that's not my intention anyway unless I inadvertantly did something else by accident.  My goal is:
Take a .docx with two pdf's embedded and convert it to a .pdf
Create a portfolio with the first .pdf in it and two other .pdf's in it as well.
Link the two icons in the first pdf to the the two other pdf's in the portfolio
This is so the user can open the first one and then only click on the icon to open the other pdf it's linked to. This is for part number control purposes so it must be this way. One part number = one pdf, the other part number = the other pdf.
I would be willing to email my original files to someone and have them try putting them together.  It's not really confidential information, just not something I would want out on the web either though. I appreciate your patience with me on this.  I've done it in the past but I have a new PC with W7 and fresh install of Acrobat 9 so I can't figure out what is different or why it's behaving this way.  Also, now I can't reply to this thread with IE10 and had to switch over to Chrome to add this.

    Hi all,
I am using Adobe Pro 11 and on opening a pdf I am getting error 'Insufficient Data for an Image'. Please help and provide a workaround if the solution not there.
I have already set the preferences to for page view to low zoom settings, and page fit view settings, but it never opens the pdf. Please check and provide a solution asap.
    Thanks in advance!

Most of the documents have sensitive info on them.  I will have to do some looking for some that i can share, but will get something to upload (dropbox) as soon as I can.

  • When creating a PDF from a PPT or Keynote application on a Mac using Acrobat X Pro, how do I ensure it can be opened on a PC? Do I need to save as a particular version of Acrobat?

When creating a PDF from a PPT or Keynote application on a Mac using Acrobat X Pro, how do I ensure it can be opened on a PC? Do I need to save as a particular version of Acrobat?

The system was not my own, it was on a PC belonging to the school where I teach. The error message referred to Acrobat 9.0, so I assume that the problem is to do with the version on which the file was created being more recent than that on which I attempeted to open it.

  • How do I open a .pdf file that I transferred to the ipod touch 5 using Itunes?

How do I open a .pdf file that I transferred to the ipod touch 5 using Itunes?  It is shown in the Adobe Reader Documents window on Itunes. All help greatly appreciated!

Is it not showing up in the documents tab when you open Adobe Reader?

  • I open a pdf file with club members names and emails. I used to be able to click on the members email and a outlook box would appear with the email address .

I have a list of names and email addresses (250) and in a previous version of firefox I would go on the web page and when I would place the curser over the members email address and click it would automatically bring up an Outlook email to send box with the members email address already listed and ready for me to enter any information. This new firefox version (19) just lets the curser go across the email address and nothing happens when I click. How do I get the previous feature back?

Current Firefox versions have enabled a new build-in PDF Viewer and that viewer doesn't have all the features that the Adobe Reader has.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask.
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to completely disable the build-in PDF viewer and use the Adobe Reader instead.

  • Save as PDF dialog popping under all other windows using Acrobat 9

One of my clients  recently upgraded a bunch of their workstations to Windows 7 64bit  Enterprise edition.  Now when they try to print to a PDF by selecting the print option in any application and then selecting the PDF printer, the dialog box pops  under all the other windows.  The result is the application appears to  freeze, as it is stuck at the 'now printing' screen.  See the below screenshot for a sample.  Meanwhile, the save as PDF dialog is still there and  if you click on the blank icon you can see in the attached screenshot,  the dialog will pop up and you can finish making the PDF.
Steps  I've already taken to try to resolve this include: running a repair of  acrobat, uninstalling and reinstalling acrobat and removing and adding  the PDF printer.  So far none of this has had any effect.  I'm using the  current (that is 9.3.2) patch revision for acrobat.
Any  help/suggestions would be most welcome!

Are they really missing or there are place holders there? Have you gone to the preferences and turned on View Large Images? As an unrelated comment, do you really want images in a resume? Maybe if you are a graphic artist or such, but images are not common in most resumes I have seen and I would not expect such. However, that is really your choice, just wanted to comment.

  • Reader X "opens" a pdf file online as a blank page. Why? Using vista.

While opening a routine bank statement (pdf) online today, I was prompted to delete Acrobat since it was no longer working, and to go to acrobat.com. I did so (I did not download any of the acrobat versions as a financial decision). At this point I was no longer able to open the pdf file. I updated Adobe Reader to Reader X. Still no luck. I tried the repair feature. No luck. I deleted Reader X and reinstalled it. No luck. The pdf still comes up as a blank page. I tried all but the most technical fixes on the Reader help and support site. No luck. I also deleted Acrobat Air and downloaded the latest version. I'm not a whiz at this, but it doesn't take a whiz to know Reader X ain't a-workin. Online tech support with Adobe couldn't solve the proplem. What kind of product is this Reader X? Help!!!

Things are still not right online with Wells Fargo/Adobe pdf's. I have uninstalled all versions of Adobe Reader, AIR, and Flash Player, and have downloaded the new versions. I did the flash player a few minutes ago when trying to watch a YouTube video sent via email and I received a prompt telling me I needed to upgrade Adobe Flash Player. When I access the list of Bank statements for what I call my main account ( I have two checking, two savings, and one Visa accounts with this bank) the list of ten or so monthly accounts for this "main account" appears. I can click on any one of them, get a blank pdf, click on the refresh button, then the pdf appears; one of the savings accounts is on this same statement.
If I bring up the other checking account or the other savings account, the only entry on the monthly list that pertains to that account is the second one on the list. All the other months are still from the "main account". I can bring up any of those monthly pdf's via the refresh button route.
The Visa account monthly list is good, but I have to click on refresh to view the pdf.
The pdf statements from US Bank work fine.

  • Opening & Editing forms created in LC ES on PC on a MAC using Acrobat 9

I created 2 forms in LC ES on PC and now need to open them on new MAC using Acrobat 9 pro...It won't allow me...says it is an XML form. What do I need to do to fix this problem.

    There are several fonts listed...
    HelveticaNeue (Embedded Subset)
    HelveticaNeue (Embedded)
    HelveticaNeue
    HelveticaNeue (Embedded Subset)
    HelveticaNeue,Bold
    HelveticaNeue-Bold (Embedded Subset)
    HelveticaNeue-Bold (Embedded Subset)
    TimesNewRoman,Bold
What's weird is I literally edited a small amount of text within text boxes (I did not add any new text
boxes because I don't have the original source document).  The font properties for these text boxes
is set at the text box level and only the text I edited is unviewable on the windows machine.  The
text I did not disturb displays correctly.

  • When I want to open a PDF document The box that pops up asking if I want to open or save does not come up and it always saves. I need this changed.

When the window opens to ask if I want to save or not comes up it does so for WORD documents just fine, however, for PDF documents it never asks (it used to). Now it just automatically saves them without asking. I need this changed. I went into applications and changed the setting to always ask but it still is just saving, them no window pops up asking what I want firefox to do with the file like it does with a WORD document. IF I cannot get this resolved I will not be able to continue using firefox. I teach and I have students submitting articles etc in pdf format, I cannot constantly save all pdf files. I just want to open them, review them and then move on. There must be a way to change this so that the window asking what I want firfox to do with the pdf files opens.
    thank you,
    kkwright

Deleted it, restarted it. tried it again. no change. repeated the whole cycle. no change. thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling, but that won't reallyk change the settings.

  • Open a pdf in a portfolio with an other programm.

    Hi.
I created a pdf-portfolio with Acrobat 9 with some pdf files.
I use a tablet-pc and i want to open the single pdf's with an annotation-programm and not directly with Acrobat.
At all file-types excluding pdf i can choose the preferred application. How can i do this with a pdf?
    Thanks a lot.

So, nobody has an idea ?
Juste to be more clear, I give an example :
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters.pdf#zoom =300,200,200
Then, if you enter this url in a new tab, considering you use the adobe reader plugin to open pdf in web browser, the file will be opened with a zoom of 300, and the letf corner position will be at 200 pixels of the right, and at 200 pixels of the top.
But it doesn't work with Adobe reader 10, that's my problem...
Could someone help me with this ?
    Bye

  • When I try to open a PDF downloaded from Adobe DC I get an error message:Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open 'nrneph.2015.33.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email

When I try to download a PDF from Adobe DC, I get an error message: "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open 'nrneph.2015.33.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)"
I am using a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.9.5, Safari browser. Previous versions of Adobe Acrobat have worked fine for years.

What's the name of the file you are attempting to open?  Is it "ScreenFlow_4.5.2.dmg"?  If it is the correct name then the message is correct and you are attempting to open a file with DMG files extension and not one with a PDF file extension.  Adobe Reader opens PDF files an not any other file type.

Erin I am sorry you are facing difficulty downloading the Creative Cloud software.  It can be frustrating when you do not have access to high speed stable Internet.
You can attempt to download the base installers and updates by following the directions listed at:
Adobe CC 2014 Direct Download Links: Creative Cloud 2014 Release | ProDesignTools
All Adobe CC 2014 Updates: The Direct Download Links for Windows | ProDesignTools
You may want to attempt to utilize some form of download management as the main issue seems to be the stability of your connection.
There is not currently a method to resume downloads within the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  There is download management included though it may not be enough to compensate for the current Internet connection.  If you are curious you can find additional details on how to resolve download errors at Error downloading Creative Cloud applications - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/error-downloading-cc-apps.html.

  • PDFs not created using  Acrobat fail to read in PB20 short profile

In our ECC system, when trying to read an applicant resume in PB20 (Short Profile->ArchiveLink Object Hit List), we get an error when trying to load someone's resume in which the resume that is saved as a PDF but created in something other than Acrobat (Example: MS Word-->Save as PDF):
In SDV-->  "The file is damaged and could not be repaired"
Can anyone offer any suggestions as how to fix this?

Well, I tried a quick test of the Save As Excel and also Word and the conversion replaces hyphens with bullets; -$20,083.86 becomes •$20,083.86 and 18-JUN-2013 becomes 18•JUN•2013
I can work with this if I have to, but it certainly is a cludgy approach.
Do you happen to know if there's a routine in the VB-accessible SDK that allows me to fetch a block of text without any parsing by the SDK? That is, if I could read the contents of the PDF as a stream of characters and do my own parsing, perhaps I could see the hyphens.
