Opening a pdf in Internet Explorer 7.0

Since downloading the update to Adobe 8.1 (I believe it was designated 8.1.2) last week, I have been unable to open a pdf from IE. This NEVER occurred before the download. I have a Dell Dimension, with Windows XP, 1024 RAM, 20 GB hard drive. I need advice on how to correct this in the updated Adobe Reader, or if its better to uninstall and go back to the earlier version (if available).
Janis

I'm having the same problem, except I'm on a HP Pavilion 6835. Since downloading 8.1.2 I can't open pdf files. Or the program itself from my desktop. Someone please help! I've posted about this subject on other discussions and no help is coming. How do we get a previous version or will this be fixed???
Janice, I uninstalled mine since I can't do anything with it anyways.
I wish the techs at this company would help us.
Thank you for any help yall can provide!

  • Adobe cannot open a PDF in Internet Explorer, for Windows 7

    Adobepdf.dll_64 needs to be installed,
but Name is not on Data1.cab.
The Adobe pdf.dll_64 must be found on the internet in an undamaged version, downloaded and installed.

You get this when doing what?

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard and Pro - dialog prompt when opening PDF from Internet Explorer 9

    Good morning.
I am having an issue where our ends users that have either Adobe Acrobat X Standard (AAXS) or Adobe Acrobat X Pro (AAXP) cannot open a PDF within Internet Explorer 9 without being prompted by a dialog box to OPEN, SAVE or SAVE AS. Our user that have Adobe Reader X (ARX) only are ok. The ARX users can click on a PDF link within the browser and it will automatically open in a new tab. However, the AAXS and AAXP users will click on that same link, but are then prompted with a dialog box to either OPEN, SAVE or SAVE AS. Has any one else seen this before? We would like it to be so that all users - no matter what Adobe PDF program they are using of the 3 mentioned - can open a PDF link by just clicking on the link and no additional dialog options appear.
The ARX users have the same Internet settings within the Adobe preferences as the AAXS and AAXP users. The check box is checked to have PDFs open within the browser, which they do, but that dialog box always appears for AAXS and AAXP users. Any thoughts?
    Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled across something today after posting. I had already known that If the ARX user also had one of the other products (AAXS or AAXP), then they would get the dialog box. Here is what I just figured out: if the user uninstalled ARX and re-installed (still having both ARX and AAXS or AAXP in the end) then they no longer get the dialog box. It seems like perhaps its an issue the AAXP and AAXS are overwriting something in the registry.

  • Can't open PDFs in Internet Explorer 9

    Hi there,
I've been having this problem for a while now, where I'm unable to open/preview PDFs in Internet Explorer 9.
Like, if I go to this page http://www.together-uk.org/work-for-us/current-jobs/ and click 'Benefits of working for Together' on the right NOTHING happends lol.
I have checked for updates on Adobe Reader X, I'm up to date. Everything is ticked off in the Internet tab of Adobe Reader X. I've tried everything I think?
    Please advise,
    thanks.

Works fine for me on IE10 and Firefox.
Try downloading the PDF to your local disk (right-click on this link http://www.together-uk.org/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2011/11/benefofworkingfortogether. pdf and select Save Target as...).
The problem is that the link on that website is a PHP, not a direct link to the PDF, so it may or may not work, depending on your browser settings.

  • Opening a .SWF in Internet Explorer as Default

I have a situation in which I have a .swf file. I want the
end users to view the .swf file and not the HTML file because the
.swf can be resized. I have gone into the properties of the .swf
file and set the "Opens With" default to Internet Explorer and then
clicked OK. On my machine it opens just fine in IE right away. The
problem lies when others in my department go to view it and it
opens the "Open With" dialog box for them to select a program. Many
more people will be viewing this, and not all of them are computer
savey, thus not knowing what program to use or why it is asking
them. I would have them use the Flash Player but for some reason
they don't have that. I know for a fact that everyone will have IE.
    Question:
Is there another way to have IE be the default program to
    open the .swf file?
Is there an actionscript in flash to do this?
Is there another way to view a .swf file so it can be
enlarged the size of the screen?
Any Ideas, suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Luke

Publish as a Projector file - that way the player is embedded
    in it....

  • Inquiry about opening any file with internet explorer

    Dear all,
i am opening any file with internet explorer on the client machine.but i want to open it as READ-ONLY. so is there any parameter i should add to the command.
the command i am using is :
    client_host('"\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe " "'||v_file_name||'"'; );
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I don't think there is a way to open a file as read only using Client_Host. But i can give you another suggestion. Change the permission of the file to readonly (may be using chmod command) before opening the file in the browser.
    client_host('chmod -w '||v_file_name);Regards,
    Arun

  • I installed the latest update, and tried to reply to an email right after. The email looked like a bunch of cymbals, arrows, font names, parts of the email. So I opened it up with Internet Explorer, and all was normal. How do I get this fixed?

The latest update was the source of the problem. I was replying to emails, and the update popped up. I updated. I continued to reply to emails, and the whole page had arrows, symbols, brackets, font names, red correction lines, etc.
I opened my emails in Internet Explorer, and everything was normal. How do I fix this?

I look at it like this, it was a solution to my problem. There is obviously something wrong with the new version. When everyone starts complaining, and some genius figures out the fix, then I will worry about the upgrade. Until then, I am fine with running 4.0. I have to disagree with you though. 6.0 is a downgrade for sure. There is a lot to be desired compared to this version. Who wants price gong, and screwed up emails. Not me. The problem is out there, and now someone needs to work on the bug fixes on this BETA version.

  • I was having issues with firefox so I upgraded to firefox 4. I am connected to the internet but when I open firefox or even internet explorer it says Unable to connect problem loading page. Nothing will pull up!!! No help link or anything!!?

I don't know if you are still having the issue but if you are have you contacted your ISP? It sounds to me like it's more of a connectivity issue than a browser problem. I've dealt with similar things several times and in both cases it was something with the modem or an ISP setting.
I'm also wondering if it could be a Wi-Fi issue. Can you log in to your router? (It varies by brand but you would go to a site such as http://192.168.10.1. That is for Trendnet. The information for yours should be in the documentation that came with it.)
You should be able to get the router log in page to come up even if you can't connect to any websites. (Provided the network is set up correctly.)
I also would double check your connection settings (if you're connecting over Wi-Fi) or your ethernet connection. (If you're connected directly to the modem and router.)
Hopefully one of these suggestions will be helpful.

  • Try to open mozilla firefox but internet explorer opens instead.

Everytime I try to open mozilla firefox, my Internet Explorer opens instead. I uninstalled firefox and downloaded it again, but it doesn't work. What can I do to fix my problem?

Possibly you are trying to open Firefox indirectly by selecting some link or HTML item, rather than using Firefox's start icon, or program shortcut.
By default on Windows IE is the chosen browser for many actions and you will need to change that if you wish Firefox to be the browser of default choice.
    * See [[Make Firefox your default browser]]
    * Use '''MenuButton {Three Bar Icon) -> Options {Cog Icon) -> [Make Firefox My Default Browser]'''

    Hi,
I have adobe reader and when I click on any PDF files on the Internet (using Internet Explorer as browser), the file opens but its not full screen.....it shows is half screen.
Plese look at image below to see what I mean:
The gray area is wheere the PDF ends and it should take up the whole screen but it doesnt.
Could this maybe be a browser issue because when i use Firefox it opens PDF full screen?
    Please help

    What is your Reader version?
It seems that your toolbar is somehow split into two; one on top, and one further down.  Yet the toolbar does not really look like the Adobe Reader toolbar; do you have any other PDF viewer installed?

  • Opening pdf in Internet Explorer on Windows

I attempt to open a pdf file in Internet Explorer and get the following message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Plesx exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again".
Acrobat Reader is then launched and the pdf opens.
Is there any way I can view directly in the web browser? I can do this in Firefox on both Windows and Linux.
(Also I've had to create a new screen Ziggy Short as Ben Short has been disabled on forums for some reason, but Ben Short and Ziggy Short are one and the same).
    Thanks

    What's,with,the,commas?
If you have a tablet that runs full Windows 8 - not Windows 8 RT, which is limited.
And if you install the full Adobe Reader for Windows, not the special Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8.
Then you will have the same features as a desktop.
Unless they can't be accessed in touch mode, since it isn't a touch app.
