Opening a photo in elements 11

I am using Elements 11 and have found I cannot drag a photo into an opened Elements. I have also noticed that I cannot program my Wacom tablet in Elements. The tablet recognises any photo opened in Elements as being 'other application'.
I have also noticed that if I have a photo in Elements and press the minimise button then Elements does minimise but the photo remains open. If I then minimise the photo separately my dock shows 2 photoshop applications. What is happening? And how do I get Elements to load correctly. I have tried Preferences but cannot find what I need.

The tablet settings in PSE are found under the various tools, so if you go to the brush tool, for example, you'll see a button for Tablet Settings. Click it and you'll see:
For the minimizing thing, that's just how OS X works. Minimize buttons minimize the window, not the program. If you've set up floating windows, they aren't going to minimize along with the main interface if you minimize that. You can try hiding the editor instead (command+control+H) to get it out of the way.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

From the Lightroom Library click Edit >> Preferences >> External Editing
Make sure you are linking to the application and not a shortcut.

Unfortunately the Nikon D3300 requires camera raw 8.4 which is not compatible with PSE 10.
Even worse, the DNG Converter 8.4 will not run on a XP or Vista comtuter.
I don't know if the software that came with the D3300 will run on the XP system but if it does, your only option would be to use it to convert the NEF files to TIF files and then PSE 10 will be able to use the TIF files.
I think that you really need to think about upgrading your system sooner than later.

Ok, That's different. The D5200 requires camera raw 7.3 which is not compatible with PSE 9.
You need to update to at least PSE 11 or use the free DNG converter.

Thanks i think I got it working of a fashion.
Except the replace colour, does not seem to end up with the colour I picked using the picker tool. Its as though it hads not replaced the colour but blended in the desired colour with the old incorrect colour!
Buy trial and error picking not the right colour but close - which when mixed with the existing colour is close.

The scenario is:- say a blonded mainly tanned model a high cut [at the hips] corsette style basque, with an ultra low bra line.
Our dear model, has just come back from St Barts with a fabulous Tan, and equally striking bold Tan lines!.
So we have great tanned legs, then the 'porcelain white band' where her swimsuit was.
Likewise we have a tanned face, and arms, shoulders etc and a great tan on the top of the cleavage, then it stops, white band to the top of the ultralow cut bra line of the basque.
She must have lived in like the most conservative bikini on the planet [50's style], for 2 weeks!
Had she had a normal skimpy bikini on, no problem!
If i don't solve it, she will get fired!

BNN, even though I understand what KT is saying, your thought resonates with mine. When it comes to building and maintaining my website, I see myself more as a photographer than as a web designer. Hence, even though Apple may not be actively developing (and we are guessing on this one, arent we) iWeb, the existing functionality should do plenty of good to me for next couple years at least.
That said, they released a point update a few days back and with the whole cloud thing building momentum and mobile me going for free, why would Apple want to pull the plug on such a fantastic product?

You can install PSE on the XP machine.Convert the catalog on of starter edition to PSE.Take the backup of the catalog on XP machine and then restore it on the windows 7 machine. This way you will have all the data of the catalog on your XP machine.

In LR 5, "edit photo in Elements" makes PSD & launches Elements but photo doesn't open in Elements

Preferences are set w/ PSCC as first external editor and Elements 10 as second.
Elements 10 is set up for PSD file, 16-bit etc. as recommended by Adobe Help.
Repro:
Select photo in LR
Open Develop module
Select Photo/Edit in ... Elements
LR makes PSD
Elements launches
No photo in Elements (does not open with photo, project bin is empty)
Expected: PSD from LR to open in Elements

Under the "Additional Enternal Editor" / Application you are probably pointing to "Adobe Photoshop Elements" instead of "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor" See here for more info

Your solution worked when applied to a administrative user account but did work with a student account.
I'm not sure why that is happening.
If you're on Vista or Windows 7, you could try setting the program to run permanently as Administrator, as described here:

I am having probs. using photo elements 10 opening i-photo files

I cannot open i-photo files with photoshop elements 10. It gives me a program fault message. Can anyone help?

The only solution we were able to come up with is mirroring screens (where everything seems to work ok) as a temporary work around - they are sending the issue to their engineers and have scheduled a followup with me for 4 days from now. The only other option seems to be to revert back to 10:10:1 if you have Time Machine set up. I'll followup when I know more.
