Opening a .pxp file on Mac

Hi, is there a way to open .pxp files in Mac without using Boot Camp?  I don't have enough room on my computer to do the Boot Camp download.  The .pxp file type is for presentations showing webpage capabilities without actually going on to the website.  Much faster to show demo without having to wait for things to load.  I had the file on my old Dell, then when i switched to Macbook Air, couldn't open the file anymore to do my presentation.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The Mac operating system has, over the years, acquired capabilities to "read" or view a wide variety of commonly used file types. However, that is farmless than the majority of file types used by every known peice of software that creates unique files.
Where Preview, or any of the other mechanisms for rwding media files will not work, you simply must use the software that created the file, or a compatible reader software.
The PXP file type suffix is used by a number of software apps, none of which is part of the capbilities of the included Mac OS readers to open. In this case, you would need to install a suitable application known to the developer of the software used to create this file, which you apparently had installed on your previous system.

Hi  can any body please tell me how to open the .exe files in mac and why it is not supported with unarchiever app , also i am not able to run and dvd's in my mac its not accepting any cd's or dvd'd why? do i need to do some pre defined  settings to run the cd's and dvd's ?

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

No there is not unless you install Windows on your Mac using Bootcamp or a virtual program such as Parallels.

  • Can't open PC .fla file on Mac

I have searched archived messages and although there have
been posts about this, no one seemed to have any answers. So, I
thought I would ask again. Oh, and please don't laugh!
My company had a web site built back in 1998-1999. The
outside person they hired to do the site created a Flash animation.
I do not know what version was used or for sure what platform (PC
or Mac). I do have the .fla files as well as the .swf files to work
with, but when I try to open them I get this error message.
"This document contains embedded objects that were created
with Microsoft Windows version of Flash. These embedded objects
must be deleted before opening on a Macintosh."
I am trying to open the .fla files using an old Mac version
of Flash 4. (Yes, I said please don't laugh!) My company will not
allow the resources to buy an upgraded version. Can anyone tell me
why I am getting this message? How I can open these files? or
ANYTHING I can do? Thanks for the help.

i think your company's lack of resosurces allocated to
software updates has finally caught up with
    them :p
The only thing you can do is find flash 4 - install it on a
pc - open the FLA and well...come to
think of it - i have no idea what that error could mean - FLA
    files are cross-platform. Original
author must have embeeded windows video files or something -
i cant even remember what flash 4 did
or did not support. Flash 4 didnt have a dependant files
    feature (i dont think).
chances are the error is generic and the real issue is that
the file is old and possisbly corrupt. I
dont have flash 4 anymore but you could post the fla to see
if it can opened at all - on PC and/or
MAC - then try downloaded the 30-day trial of flash and
editing it - or search ebay for flash 6 or
even 7 at a cheap cost.

  • Is Final Cut Pro the only software that can open video .MXF files for Macs?

    Hello,
Many thanks in advance for your attention.
Trying to find software that will edit .MXF Video Files to work with Mac.
As the edit is simple, prefer iMovie, but happy if the Conversion software only works with FCExpress (or even FCPro if that is the only alternative).
    1. If it matters, .MXF (Material Exchange Format) Video files came from shooting on a Panasonic 500 P2. Originally downloaded onto a Windows system, using Adobe Premiere.
    2. I just want to see and convert some of the shots I did for my Reel, etc., but I have a Mac.
    3. I have iMovie HD, iMovie 09, and FCExpress (which I don't know how to use that well).
    4. When I attach an External HD with backup files of all the footage shot, they show up named as .MXF files. They appear as VLC files (VLC icon), but the suffix is .MXF.
    5. When I try to play them as VLC files, they won't play. It seems they start to play, but then the VLC software quits.
    6. So I have tried downloading some software on the Internet that Google says converts .MXF files.
I tried: iSkysoft Video Converter, AVCWare Mac Video Converter, MPEG Streamclip, and a couple others. They all seem to have basically the same conversion setups, but when I click to pick one .MXF file, none of them recognize it. (The file in my Browse window is greyed out).
    7. MoyaVideo Converter for Mac recognizes the .MXF file, but when I hit the "conversion" button - I tried a couple different settings, all it seems to convert is the first frame. Even if the .MXF file says a clip is 123MB or 43 seconds long, etc.
    8. I can't even watch the clip in Preview. Press Play and it is just the first frame.
    9. I have read elsewhere in these forums, some people touting conversion software from a company in Germany - mfxformac. I am fine with paying for conversion software, but $500?
    10. And I have read elsewhere that only Final Cut Pro has a codec that will open .MXF files. If this is so, why do the above companies claim to have software that opens .MXF files for Mac?
    11. Isn't there a further problem if I can't even see the video using VLC? Or is that because I am using Mac and need FCPro with the right codec?
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

MXF files from P2 can only be imported using FCP. iMovie can't, nor FCE...if you are talking about APPLE software. Avid deals with MXF files natively. But FCP will ONLY import them if the entire P2 card structure is intact. Please tell me that you have the entire P2 card backups. If not, then it won't work. If you do...then here is the process for importing into FCP:
    P2 Workflow with FCP 6
    3. I have iMovie HD, iMovie 09, and FCExpress (which I don't know how to use that well).
Then you need someone to provide you with QT files of this footage. None of them work with P2.
NONE of the converters you listed will work... Sorry.
    9. I have read elsewhere in these forums, some people touting conversion software from a company in Germany - mfxformac. I am fine with paying for conversion software, but $500?
That software is to get it to work with Final CUt Pro natively. What it doesn't do is convert the footage to QTs. There is also Raylight and Calibrated...but again, they are for FCP.
P2 is a professional format, and to use it you need professional software. iMovie won't work...nor will FCE. If you need to work with it in those formats, you need to have someone import the files and convert them to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).
HD Log might work...but not sure what QT format it converts to. A demo is available.

  • Opening Microsoft Publisher file in Mac

Does anyone know of a way to open a Publisher file on a Mac. My son started a school project in publisher -- he needs to complete the project now as a home assignment. I guess they think everyone works with windows -- Ha.
    Any thought?
    Carl

Another course of action to take is to save out the .pub file into a .doc file to take home and work on then rehash the .doc file back into a .pub file. But that just seems to much to be had.
I thought that OpenOffice.org would open publisher files but then after the air cleared from the brain **** I had, it was Powerpoint files, hey, they both start with the letter 'P'. Publisher, Powerpoint, Presentation. LOL.
Nonetheless, converting .pub to .doc, working on .doc, then converting back to .pub is a way to go at this point, but that would be tripling the work, eh?

  • Opening a WinZip file on Mac

How do I do this? I'm trying to open a video file that my Dad sent to me that was winzipped. Any help would be appreciated. 2 years and I'm still learning this software. LOL.

Try this free program, Stuffit Expander. It's free and good to have for files that are compressed that don't open on a mac natively.

  • Error when opening Windows IDCS2 file on Mac

    Hi all,
When I try to open an IDCS2/Windows file on my Mac, I get the following message...
"Cannot open "filename.indd". Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign."
...in a dialog box listing all my plug-ins.
I found a knowledge base document here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=325156&sliceId=1
but it offers solutions only for Windows users. (Unless I haven't had enough coffee yet and can't read.)
I have also tried to open the file via Bridge, with no luck.
Anyone have any suggestions for how to deal with this on the Mac?
    I'm using OS 10.4.9, IDCS2 4.0.5.
    Thanks--Dina

    Slightly off topic:
After 5 versions of InDesign, none of which can open a file from a newer version, I wonder why Adobe hasn't refined the message to say something like:
"Unable to open [filename]. This is a version [#] file. Please upgrade your InDesign [#] to the latest version of Adobe InDesign."

  • How to repair/open damaged .nef files on mac?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place...
I am using my sisters Apple refurb Mac Air, OSX 10.8.4
    Camera is a Nikon D3100
There are around 3000 pictures. Basically I made the mistake of using a crappy card reader to open my files on her computer. A zeikos one. Periodically, it would eject itself, and eventually it corrupted all 3000, some jpg pics included. I ran applexsoft SD Card Recovery and managed to recover all 3000 pictures after a couple of tries. I could see the pictures on the preview, with the watermark, and they went into the recovered file folder. I checked the file sizes and most average between 10-15 mb. Now they wont open in preview or iPhoto, saying it is unrecognizable or damaged, and does the same for the .jpgs. I have opened .nef pictures on her computer before. It's been a while since I have had a mac so I am a little fuzzy on what is supported or not. What I am wondering is:
If the preview on the recovery tool shows the pictures, is it likely that these files are salvageable?
How can I view them and what program is best?
Most of these pictures are not valuable, I only need a select number, so if I can't get all of them, would it be possible to select only the ones that I need with a particular program?
If they are indeed damaged, how can I repair them?
I've downloaded something called Stellar Mac Photo Recovery, but I don't want to run anything until I get some info...
I can't keep too much data on here, so the smallest effective program would be best...
To clarify, the pictures are currently on the laptop, not the SD card. Though they're still technically on the SD card, I am asking for help to repair the files on the computer.
Please help... I wish I could have backed these up periodically, and usually I download the most important pictures to my iPad and upload them to an img host, but I lost my iPad card reader. I'd really appreciate any help! Thank you (:

Only if you export them in the correct format.
If you just save them they will be in the Apple format which will not work on the PC.

  • Flash CS3 crash when opening a .FLA file on Mac OSX

I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem. I've
experienced similar issue with Flash 8 on my Mac OSX. I was
expecting CS3 will fix these but I'm wrong.
The problem is: Flash will randomly crash when I try to open
a FLA source, or when I try to publish the file to a SWF file. It's
not always happening, it's like I'm ok in the morning but crash
everytime I open the file afternoon.
If any one of you had similar issues, please share

Indeed! I actually love my mac. Its a mac book pro that I
have had since October of 2006. I have literally had no issues with
anything since I got it until I installed Flash. 8 crashed every
now and then - but as I work on a piece today using CS3 - it
crashes on average every 15 to 20 minutes. There is no reason this
should be happening. It's completely unacceptable! When you think
about the price tag they put on the new CS3 suite (web premium) -
this software should be folding my effing laundry and making me
    margaritas too!
And you are right! I work at a creative agency where we use
macs. Adobe has always made their products better on the mac side.
But this just sucks. They should have held off padding their
pockets until their product was right.
Just another company that forgot what quality is. Good
    lookin' out, Adobe!

    I have a Mac Dual G5 with Mac Os X 10.4.8 and I was making a short HDV movie(only 4Giga) in FCExpress.
I export the movie in H264 1920 X1080 in the QT Conversion window and save them in a .mov file (with blue QT label).

    Dear Sir
I find a solution for the problem.
What you say is correct, it is a codex problem.
    I download a other program Cineform Aspect HD.199 U$.
Now I can open easy everyone .mov file on the PC(.mov files from the MAC).
Mine conclusion: QuickTime Pro for Windows don’t support H264 codex,
and don’t support any .mov file from the MAC !
Apple make big publicity on their website for QT Pro 7 for Windowns.
They say “QT Pro 7 for Windows support H264 codex”.
I try many days with Apple Support team, they don’t find a solution.
Good evening and thank you for assistance,

  • Cannot open iOS garageband files on Mac

Read various threads; I have GB 2.0.6 on iOS (8.1.3, iPad 2) and OSX 10.0.3 on Mac (Yosemite) with iCloud installed and working mostly.
I can upload files from iOS GB, and their icons get a tiny cloud sigil, but I can't find them on iCloud website or locallly. There is no GB folder.
I set up iTunes to File-share GB, and I've shared several files. They show up in iTunes Apps>File Sharing>Garageband Documents, but again I can't find them or export them from iTunes.
In GB/Mac File>iCloud>Import GarageBand for iOS Song shows a window which says "No Songs"
    Any Suggestions?

That is how it is supposed to be, unfortunately.
GarageBand 10 accesses the GarageBand iOS files, that you share to iCloud, differently. They are not (yet) visible on iCloud Drive.
Use the File > iCloud menu in GarageBand 10 to access the GarageBand for iOS files.
See this Help page to share your GarageBand iOS songs to iCloud:  http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/2.0/index.html#chsdfe5c2c2
