Opening adjusted Tiffs in PS with adjustments applied.

This is my workflow, edit raw file in Aperture, open up adjusted image in PS for further work, save image. The resulting tiff then shows up in Aperture no problem. Then maybe a day or so later whatever I may go back into Aperture and make a further adjustment on that tiff - if I then want to resize that tiff file for web etc using PS when I choose 'edit in PS' the file opens up but without the new adjustments?? The only way I've found to get round this is to export the tiff file to my desktop and open that one up in PS to resize etc. In LR all I had to do was select any of the resulting tiff files and I was given various options on whether to open it in PS with LR adjustments applied or not.
Any advice please?

Interesting behaviour and one I can confirm. Only Adobe can indicate if this is intended or a bug.

  • Can numbers open and view excel files with filters applied?

Hi - I don't currently have iWork but was considering purchasing it.  I frequently get sent excel files from work (which I view on my iPad 3) that have got filters in the column headings applied and I need to be able to change the dropdown values in the headings to see different cuts of the data in the spreadsheet.  Does anyone know if the current version of Numbers allows users to do this?

Numbers has a row filtering feature, but it doesn't involve the Header or any dropdown menus. In Numbers row filtering is controlled from the Reorganize Panel which is activated from the Toolbar. Given this, I don't think an imported Excel document will have the filtering feature active. Hopefully someone who uses both Execl and Numbers will weigh in.

  • Exporting tiffs with adjustments including 4x6 crop

I have Lightroom 1.2 and have (finally) made adjustments to many tiff photos. All are tiff scans and all were different sizes until I used the crop adjustment in Lightroom. I've also made contrast, levels and other changes and all have been cropped to 4x6.
Now I would like to simply select all the photos I want to export and have them exported with Lightroom adjustments. I've tried exporting but they are exported without adjustments. I've searched in the Help and on the web and still can't find any instuctions about how to export them with adjustments.
I'd like to export them all as cropped 4x6 pictures so that I can slap them on a DVD and get my local photo shop to print them out as 4x6 format so that I can build a couple or real-world photo albums for my two brothers.
Can this really be that difficult to do? I sort of figured that Lightroom would be smart enough for me to be able to do that. I've been able to print to my own printer (with adjustments) from Lightroom itself so why is it turning into an uphill battle to simply save them all as adjusted 4x6 tiffs?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A very good suggestion and one I would never have considered. My local is only charging about £15 for 100 prints though so it won't be an entire disaster if they don't pan out. It is amazing. I bought an Olympus P-10 and was using it to print but since introducing that model the media has trippled in price and I did the maths the other day and worked out that I was paying twice as much per print as my local charges. It is a nice printer but unfortunately the bottom line for me is cost. I tend to buy kit in 2s and so I have another printer under my bed (for backup) but it looks as if that particular purchase was a white elephant.
Thanks again. Very decent of you both to have repled so fast to my question. You guys are 5-8 hrs behind in the good-old land-of-the-free but it is late here in the UK. I'm only up because I'm watching the shuttle lauch and listening to the on-board live audio via NASA TV. I thought (when I posted) that I'd check my Mbx 2mrw but am so glad I checked it out 2nite.
Hope all goes well with the mission. God bless America. Keep it free as a beacon to the rest of the World.

  • Can someone help me to open this tiff.file with PS CS5

I accidently restarted my computer and then I can not open this tiff by photoshop cs5. Can someone help me to recover this file!!! I really dont want to redraw this illustration ... it really paintful ... !!!
Here is the download link for the file: WeTransfer its more than 70MB. thank you guys!!!

Other applications can open the flattened version of the image (like Apple's Preview).
But something has messed up the Photoshop layer data in the file.
I wasn't able to recover it in the debugger, either -- too much of the layer data is corrupt, and the last part of the file is mighty suspect (too many blocks of zeros).
Something like PSDRecover might be able to recover some of the layer data.
You need to check whatever disk or fileserver this was stored on for any additional problems - you may have a disk going bad, or some utility corrupting files.
And, of course, see if you have a backup version of this file.

  • How to open jpg, tiff files in camera raw from elements 10 organizer

How to open JPG, TIFF files in camera raw from Elements 10 organizer.

Thanks for that Damead, I agree with you that Organiser is real pain (there is a total lack of intuitiveness if that is  the correct word).
For my own work I use 'Lightroom' for around 90% of the time, only going into PSE10 for the 10% difficult bits the Lightroom can't handle.
I only needed to sort out the JPEG file opening method within PSE10 for some freinds in a small Photo Group that I run in Woodhall Spa, UK. 50% of the 12 members are beginners & a number of them do not have Raw capability on their Camera's, but now they can get their JPEG's into Camera Raw within PSE10 they have the same simple tabular form of adjustment sliders (not as many as in Lightroom of cause) but it gets over the labourious problem of going thru the PSE10's individual tool selection process each and every time since we are trying to get everyone in the Group working with individual Tools rather than the 'Auto' functions. We do this so that they learn what they are doing rather than staying 'dumb&happy' within Auto all the time & they also learn how to get more detailed control for each photo.
Ref. your comments on file handling/usage, I agree with your comments. Its far and away much more preferable to set up a file structure in 'Finder" (or in 'Explorer' if still using Windows) that you understand so you always know how to find the files. Also, I also never ever use the Camera Auto Load programme but physically 'drag & drop' photo files direct from the 'card' into the file system so I always know thier place (ie: they go into the location I want, not that which the Auto Loader wants).
As regards your comment about 'Lightroom', I don't have any problems at all since I just imported the whole of my photo file structure into the Lightroom Library Catalouge and then it automatically shows up on the LHS of the screen, still in that format, so you can search it direct within Lightroom and display all of the photo's in variuos arrangements and sizes; everything is as easy to find as it is in 'Finder' plus of cause you have all the 'Tagging' possibilities to use as well. As you add more new files into the 'Finder' structure, all you need to do in Lightroom is reimport, starting 1 level up from the new files and Lightroom will find the new files that need loading (ignoring the older ones already in the Library at that or lower levels) then 1 click and its done.
Your comments about getting others to follow a set file structure is very pertinant and also applies to evrything else that one ever does apart from just photo work; the times I have had to help others find info/files etc on their PC's because they don' know the location of anything is too many to contemplate.

  • Photoshop Opens 8bit TIFF files as Camera Raw

My normal workflow consists of opening RAW files in ACR, making adjustments, then moving on to Photoshop where I apply retouching and build clipping paths. I then save the file as an 8bit TIFF. I rarely reopen these 8bit TIFFs again, but when I did so recently what I encountered was not what I expected.
My Photoshop (CS6) is opening 8bit TIFF files as Camera Raw when selected by "right click" followed by "Open with Photoshop CS6". I remember being able to open 8bit TIFF files directly in Photoshop, but I think this change has occurred since installing CS6.
Again, files in question began as 16bit Raw files, but were worked on in Photoshop CS6 (retouching) and saved with clipping paths. This would reduce them to 8bit files. When placed in page layout, clipping paths work properly, confirming that paths are intact.
When I want to open the files again - say from Bridge or a Finder window - by the method "right click - Open with Photoshop CS6", the file is opened first in Camera Raw, and then in Photoshop, and the path(s) is missing.
I can open these TIFF files and access Paths but only if I locate and select the file from within Photoshop (File/ Open.../). The Open window gives "Format" as Camera Raw (which it isn't, having been saved as 8bit file). If I override  format to "TIFF", the file opens with clipping path shown.
What might be going on here and how can I correct it?

    DaleH wrote:
I set the preference to automatically open JPEGs and TIFFs with settings.
That's the reason for Adobe Camera Raw being automatically used to open TIFFs which were previously sent from ACR to Photoshop. The TIFFs have ACR settings because they originated as images generated from raw files by ACR. If you don't want ACR to be invoked when opening such files by a right-click then set the preference to "Disable TIFF support".
    DaleH wrote:
I didn't manually set the bit depth.
When I saved the file with a clipping path it automatically dropped down to 8bit.
That's not happening here with CS6. 16 bits per channel are maintained when saving TIFF from Ps, regardless of there being a clipping path. Are you certain that the ACR workflow options definitely said 16-bit, as shown below, when ACR initially generated the images from raw and passed them to Ps?

  • Exporting master images WITH adjustments

    Hello,
I have a simple question about exporting images.
Let's say I have imported a bunch of raw images into my Aperture Library (but they are referenced files, located in the folder specified by me). Then I have worked on them. And now I want to backup my work - all my adjustements. But I don't want to export them as new versions (jpgs), but just export the raw files together with adjustments I have just made.
    How do I do that?
Any help would be really appreciated.

This is where the Adobe DNG could shine.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/index.html
Worth the read ... this can save the changes that one
    makes.
DNG does NOT help in this case.
There is a huge misunderstanding that this is part of what DNG can or should do.
But if you think about it, what good are the adjustments being stored in DNG if you have to use a particular program to open it anyway?
Think about Aperture's Edge Sharpen for a second. Lets say you store that value in a DNG. Fine, what other program is going to able to reproduce that result EXACTLY to how you were previewing it at 100% on your monitor?
Lighroom is trying to do something along these lines by passing editing commands off to Bridge through DNG. But here you run into another problem - it constrains what editing any one program can do. If Lightroom is limited to only ever having editing commands that are the same as what Bridge offers, and no other program on earth supports them, then what have you really accomplished? Will unknown editing commands simply be dropped without warning?
That's why I think simply exporting projects, which hold master images alongside sidecar files (very like XMP) that describe edits are about as good as you are going to get. If you want to truly preserve editing work and you care about quality, nothing beats a TIFF file where 100% of the pixels are exactly as you reviewed them during editing. I personally trust Aperture enough to back up master images along with edits, and am fine with that.

  • ACR-adjusted tiffs -- trouble actioning

I'm trying to leverage the ACR interface for certain users employing actions. I'd like to create a merged copy of the a doc (with many layers) and save out as a TIF, then reopen as a "camera raw" (CR) file. This process works fine, and you can even open this CR tif as a normal tif and plain save to update the content. Nicely done. But when _actioning_ any open as SO, place as SO, or open as CR the "assignment" to a CR tiff is skipped. I'm not sure how this assignment to CR is registered by the ACR plugin, but it just won't record as an action step (unless you toggle the dialogue checkbox, at which point it works, but certainly not as desired).
I think the above "bug" was experienced by Jeff a while back when someone was trying to open a batch of raw files as SOs in PS.
Is there any way to action adjusting the current PSD in ACR? What are users doing to keep (raw) files editable in light of the healing tools and painting?

By now I must have read your cross post in both forums about five times, yet I cannot follow what you are trying to convey.  Must be my old age.

First, one cannot open a TIFF "as a camera raw (CR)" file.  You can open a single-layer TIFF in Camera Raw, but it won't contain any RAW data.
Second, you cannot reopen a camera-raw-adjusted TIFF as "as a camera raw (CR)" file, for the same reason:  it contains no raw data whatsoever.  You can open it in Camera raw, though.

Third, if you manage to to open a "camera-raw-adjusted TIFF" directly in Photoshop—how you do that is a different matter—bypassing Camera Raw, then you necessarily MUST be disregarding the ACR adjustments, as Photoshop cannot read them without the benefit of ACR.
    J Maloney wrote:

Forth:  One cannot directly open a PSD in ACR.
Fifth: One cannot open a multi-layered TIFF (or any other flavor of multi-layered file) in ACR.
I am not trying to argue anything, I'm just trying to give you a possible explanation of why you have not received an answer.  I am fairly confident that I am not the only one having trouble following your post.

  • Can't export to DNG with adjustments

HI all. I'm having a problem exporting a DNG file as an original or as DNG with adjustments. All the exports is the original DNG file. I do get a clean export with adjustments when I export to jpg. any thoughts?
here's the details: software is lightroom 4.1 and camera raw 7.1. File was NEF converted to DNG on import. numerous adjustment to tone, w/brushes, etc. xmp written to file. tried dng export preset as well as through the export module. exported to various versions of camera raw. all with no luck. opened in CS 5 and Preview, with the same results: no adjustments to DNG.
I have won a free high-end print and the printer says DNG will be better. Any thoughts??? have searched the forum to no avail.....
    Thanks in advance!
    David

My understanding is tht you have to direct Lr to save the develop settings to the dng files.  Open - Edit - Catalog Settings - Metadata - Check the box "automatically write changes to xmp".

I clicked on iMessage on my Macbook Pro today for the first time, and now NOTES keeps opening up every 5 seconds, with a new note.  I cannot stop it from opening. If I close it or force close, it opens again in 5 seconds.  I can't get rid of it.  I have tried to clear out the iMessage settings I had put in, and I've tried to adjust the Accounts to not include notes to synch.  But, Notes will not stop.  It opens a new note, and even if you ignore it, it assumes preference every 5 seconds, and the Mac is impossible to use.

Do you have any Boot Camp or other secondary partitions set up on your system? If so then try running a disk verification routine (chkdsk, etc.) in Windows to repair the disk. While I've not heard of it happening recently, in the past errors in these partitions have resulted in stubborn ghost files appearing in OS X.

  • Changes to appearance of repeat swatch and gradient (both with transparency applied) when .ai saved in PDF 1.3 compatibility

I need to send a complex vector print to a commercial printer who requires my .ai file to be saved as 1.3 PDF compatibility.  All the graphics display & print correctly bar two elements:
    1. A gradient with transparency applied
    2. A repeat pattern swatch with transparency applied
Both of these elements are layered between a solid colour background and a complex array of vector art.
The gradient displays as solid white when converted to 1.3 PDF.  The pattern swatch displays partly white, with some elements of the pattern repeat visible as a watermark.
    1. I have tried to rasterise these elements within the a@rt, and while they both display correctly while in .ai format, as soon as I convert to PDF the appearance changes as above.
    2. I have tried to apply the transparency to the paint buckets on the gradient slider instead of applying it to the shape with gradient fil
    3. I've fiddled with the Transparency Flattening presets, Document Raster Effect Settings, and everything I can think of in the 'Save as PDF' dialogue box
    4. I've tried to rasterise the full file with an even worse outcome (all colour information lost, appears only on grey scale with fewer elements visible)
Could this have something to do with spot colours or overprint?  Any help would be most appeciated!
    I'm using:
Illustrator CC 18.1.1 (doc colour set to CMYK)
on a Macbook Pro OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.1
    Apple Preview Version 8.0 (859)

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for taking an interest! I tried rebuilding my gradient as suggested to see whether it would make a difference, but was still having issues.  Tried to save every which way with the save as PDF options in 1.3 profile.  Finally went back into the file to unpack each layer and see what I could adjust to save the appearance.
Found this fix in my swatches palette: for some reason the swatches I was working with had converted to "Book Colour", something I never use.  I changed the dropdown back to CMYK and changed the colours from spot to process, which fixed the file    Relief after hours of searching and late nights!
    Thanks again!

    Hi,
The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.

  • Photoshop CS5 will not open some tiff files

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I'm using Photoshop CS5 as my default program for opening .jpg and .tif files.
Recently I installed a new scanner (Canon Lide210) and I usually save the scanned images as .tif files (for manipulation later).
Images in .tif format saved from scans with my old Canon scanner (that does not work with Windows 7) open fine in Photoshop but images from the new scanner will not open (message says 'Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop').
Can anyone help with this? I always thought tifs were tifs and didn't realise there could be different 'versions'.
I do a lot of detailed artwork and it's important that I can work with tif files (and preferably with this new scanner!!)
    Thanks for your help

Thank you all for your help.
The scanner options are to save as JPEG/Exif, TIFF or BMP (with standard, low compression or high compression).
I've just scanned a colour photo and saved it in all three formats (standard compression). All the files now open in PS, with the Camera Raw preview screen (which I've never seen before!).
I've also scanned a black and white drawing, both as a B&W photo and as a B&W document, and saved these scans as TIFFs. Both these now open in PS. The older files that I have not been able to open in PS still do not open. (These files open in MSoft Picture Manager and Quicktime Picture Viewer - though the quality is awful in Picture Viewer.)
It seems to me that whatever was causing the problem might have been 'cured' by some recent software update.
Do you think this is the likely answer? If you'd still be interested to look at one of the rogue files then I could upload one.
    Thanks

  • How to view one photo with one XMP based adjustment side by side with another  XMP version?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a simple way of quickly and easily comparing side by side the same photo that may have different adjustments made to it.
I do some freelance work where in one job I receive up to 800 images to edit.  After my work is complete I send the XMP files back to my boss.  He may or may not further tweak them for correctness.  He then sends these files to the client.
I want to compare the original XMP files I sent against the final XMP files that the client receives to see what changes were made.  My boss can't remember exactly which files he tweaked so I wanted to do that visually.
Is there an easy way to do this in Bridge? Can I quickly switch the adjustments from one set of XMPs to the other, or better yet, view the same image side by side with different adjustments applied to them?
    Thanks!
    ZLeung1980

Is there an easy way to do this in Bridge? Can I quickly switch the
adjustments from one set of XMPs to the other, or better yet, view the same
image side by side with different adjustments applied to them?
As far as I know you can't see different versions of the same file in
Bridge, I think you can do so in Aperture ;-0
The easiest way I can think of is to have two sets of files by duplicating
the current series you have tweaked. The duplicates have copy in the
filename but will stay in the correct order when having file name selected.
The duplicates stay as you have them tweaked, the originals will be modified
with new XMP as you get them back.
Choose sort by modification date to select the files with modified xmp data
and color  label those. Again choose all the content with sort for filename
and you can easily see the color labels next to the original duplicates.
Select both one modified and one original and view them next to each other
    in the preview window.
Maybe others have a better method?

  • Uploading of contract with adjustments.

    Dear all.
i was using the function module BAPI_RE_CN_CREATE to create the contract . the contract is uploading fine with out the adjustment details.now the issues is when i have slected the adjustment rule FREECUS which is avilable in the system . The conditionis not gettting adjusted. and also the condition is not getting approved even though i have slected the option in the BAPI accordingly. can any body suggest how to upload this contract with adjustments.
    Regards.
    Varaprasad.

    Hi Varaprasad,
you can use BAPI_RE_CN_CREATE to upload adjustment rules also  (parameter TERM_ADJUSTMENT). But it is not possible to upload results of former adjustments of old system. In this case you have to adjust adjustment rules accordingly so that it is possible to continue adjustments after uploading of contracts.
