Opening an existing file for CS Review & file organization

1. Is there a way to take a file that's already been uploaded to Acrobat and start a CS Review?
2. Is there a way to organize files into a folder or similar structure?
Thanks

I wish I could say "Aha! - that's it!", because that would mean I have the knowledge behind what's going on.
It was my late husband who undertook the enormous burden of importing three travel sites I'd made in Drumbeat 2000 into a portal site he created in Dreamweaver 8, and spending uncountable hours fiddling with them to make them at least sound enough to be seen.
Still, I would guess you're right, inasmuch as the sites are indeed still so full of .html errors -- he stopped wasting his time on the once he'd got them to lock-down, as it were: the 'import' command was always a piece of gross exaggeration -- that I'd have to sit here opening and closing 'em for weeks before DW8 got any kind of feeling it'd dealt with them all.
I think your response tells me, at least, that what's going on doesn't mean anything frightening...
Whereas it had alarmed me, this business of the files changing upon being opened, it's now just something to make me sigh; but I can go ahead and make little corrections, here and there...
I'm going to recreate them all, one day.
Thank-you very much indeed for your input.

  • I bought and installed many fonts for a project and one font in particular which is showing up in the font list on a new file, is missing when I open an existing file containing that font. I can't understand why that's happening and the font is Centrale S

    Hi
    I am encountering a missing font error on Adobe Illustrator for a font that I recently bought - Centrale Sans Bold. This font is clearly installed in the system's font folder and is also showing in the font list on Adobe Illustrator. But when I open an existing file containing this font it is giving the error "The document uses fonts or characters which are not available or are in a different format than originally specified".
    We have also bought Centrale Sans regular from a different website as we couldn't find both on one, could that be clashing somehow?
    Also the existing file was created on MAC plattform and we are using a windows plattform to open it. That to me doesn't seem like an issue as all other files are opening up fine and I have bought around 47 fonts and only this font seems to be not working. I have also written to the website I bought it from but I have also bought around 20-25 fonts from them and all the other fonts are working fine too. Maybe its an illustrator related problem?
    Please help!!!!!!

    There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

    It's not an apple solution but you can try MailRaider by 45 RPM software. I have not used it personally but it was one of the hits that came up when I did a google search for .msg on Mac.
    Hopefuly the link posts but if not then just head over to macupdate and do a search for MailRaider

    Hope this helps.

  • 64 bit Photoshop CS 5.1 Extended crashes every time I create a new file or open an existing file

    I installed the 64 bit version of Photoshop CS 5.1 Extended successfully.  It opens fully without issue.  However, any time I create a new file or open an existing file, it crashes.
    I figured this would have something to do with my graphics card, but it still does the same thing after updating the drivers & nVidia software.  Seems like my whole trial will end up expiring before I ever even get to use it!! Please help!!

  • Failed to open an existing file

    I have a program which loads the configuration file - guard.conf, listens to a port, and accepts the connections. It runs perfect during the first day. But then it begins to have a problem: it fails to reload(open) the configuration file. The error message from syslog("%m") is like "guard.conf file or directory does not exist". But, I have checked, guard.conf is there, and access("guard.conf") in the program returns successfully.
    Because this program still can accept the connections, I doubt that the file descriptors have been used up.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi
    Sounds strange, but would have to have a look at the program before \
    I can comment any further. If you can forward me your email address then I can have a look at your program.

  • DW8: opening an existing file changes it

    The coding is very suss, I admit it: these are sites built originally in Drumbeat 2000 and imported into DW8. An enormous amount of manual work had to be done on them after the importing, but at least they worked.
    Every time I open any of the .html files within any of these sites, an asterisk appears next to the file's name tab, and closing it without having done anything whatsoever to it results in the standard "do you want to save changes?" message.
    Is there a simple explanation, please?

  • Submenu layers always open when opening an existing file

    Whenever I open a working file the sub menus in my Layers window are always
    open. So I need to go in and close each one to shorten the list of layers showing.
    This is annoying when you have 30 layers that need to be closed.
    Is there a way to reset a prefernce or something to fix this?

    Did you tried activating  "Show layers Only" from the Layers Panel option submenu?.
    After doing this you must save the document, this only afects the current document you have open, because it's a Document preference and not an aplicattion preference (must be).

  • How to open an existing XML for update.

    Hi,
    I have created an ADF Form, which is made of ADF panels which allow the user to run a few simple queries against an Oracle database done using ADF view links and ADF application module. I would like to add another panel to this main form which would allow the user to open an existing XML file (.xml) and modify it at will. How do I do this?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    You can find the code for a simple Java class that read/write to a file here:
    http://www.javapractices.com/topic/TopicAction.do?Id=42
    Here is a demo of what you can do once you have the java class that reads/writes the file (note that I modified the original class to accept String instead of File objects as parameters).

  • Pages won't open an existing file or a new template, but numbers works fine

    I recently re-installed iWork and it all seemed fine. I opened and created new Numbers files successfully, but I cannot open or start a new Pages file. I tried removing my preference file but the problem still exists. I am trying to get a fee proposal out for work so this is very frustrating, can anyone lead me to a solution. Thank you so much.

    I found an answer from another link. I deleted the app, prefs, and app support folder and reinstalled. It works!

  • Open an existing file, edit and save in Forms 10G R2

    Dear all
    Could u pls tell me how can i open a file like .doc,.xls extension. and i want to input some data to that file and save.These all i need to oracle 10g R2 version click on a button. How can i open .pdf and html file(Read Only).
    Regards,

    You can do this to show a file on the client file system...
    web.show_document('file://c:\mypath\myfile.doc', '_blank');
    This will lauch the word document in word. The user can then edit and save it from word. This basically is calling your web browser and your web browser then hands off the file to a helper app. This will work for any file type that the client has helper app to display.

  • Photoshop freezes when opening an existing file

    Been using Photoshop for years 10.1.1 on OS 10.4.11. Now I can't open any file. Automatic update from Apple was run two days ago: JAVA Release 8 and Security Update 2009-001 (Intel). Could this have created the problem? If so, what do I do now?

    I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
    I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
    I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
    This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
    Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) may NOT help. Try it anyway, though.
    ====
    Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
    Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
    If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
    Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
    Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
    Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large.
    Also, from: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
    The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
    NOTE:
    There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction. The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.
    Other, more reliable reports indicate that this seems to have been fixed in the current version of Leopard.
    In any event, Repairing Permissions and/or running the Cron Scripts cannot hurt.
    If you have DiskWarrior, run it regularly too.

  • How to open an existing file from java

    Hi Guys,
    I have one problem Please help me in this.
    How to open file(i.e. file can be any type, it is may be image file, doc file or pdf file) using java.
    Even i tryed in one way but it is static way that is working in windows not for other OS.
    Code :
    import java.io.*;
    public class CmdExec {
    public static void main(String argv[]) {
    try {
         DataInputStream din=new DataInputStream(System.in);
         System.out.println("Enter File Path to Open");
         String fName=din.readLine();
         File file=new File(fName);
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 SHELL32.DLL,ShellExec_RunDLL " + file.getAbsolutePath());
    catch (Exception err) {
    err.printStackTrace();
    If any other way to do please tell me.
    Regards
    Siva Prasad

    Well, if the OS doesn't provide a mechanism to associate a file name with a certain program, there's nothing you can do.
    I don't know whether something like JDIC can help you - otherwise, you'd have to find the solution for each OS. What's inside the exec()'s parenthesisses is not a Java problem anymore.

  • When i try to create or open an existing file it says "file can not be opened" how do i fix that?

    It has sone this ever since i got it as a new computer.

    It sounds like you don't have permission to open those files under your account.  Get someone with access to the admin account to double check the permissions on your account.
    If that doesn't work, try repairing your Mac permissions:
