Opening an existing project in PE12 elements editor.

When I attempt to open an existing project in PE12 Elements Editor, a new project opens instead. If I attempt to close the new project, it freezes and must be force closed.

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?

  • X-Code 5.0.2 crashing in Mavericks 10.9 when opening an existing project

Just updated X-Code to 5.0.2 and now it crashes when I try to open an existing project. Seems to OK when a new project is started though.
    What am I doing worng?

I had the same issue then I found out all you have to do is to set the default view to List before opening any previous or new project and it worked, credit goes to this user below who found the solution.

I was able to resolve by workaround:
    1. Closed all open applications
    2. relaunch Finder
    3. run  sudo find / -name ".DS_Store"  -exec rm {} \;
    4. this removes all  .DS_Store old files on the computer
    5. launch finder and set default view to "LIST VIEW" as shown here:http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/ss/Setting-Finder-Views-For-Folders-And-Su b-Folders_2.htm
    5. rerun the offending application and file chooser works

  • Can't Open An Existing Project in iDVD

I've prepared an iDvd project saved it and when ever I run iDvd and select "open an existing project" it just freezes and only gives me the option to "Force Quit". It allows me to create a new project but I can't open my existing one. Can anyone help. I hope I don't have to start it all over again.

Have you tried deleting iDVD's preference file?
Close iDVD. Go to your Home folder(YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.idvd.plist
Drag this plist file to the trash. iDVD will create a new fresh one when you reopen it.
Open iDVD, and see if this problem is resolved.
If not, try signing on as a new account. Go to system preferences, account.
If that resolves the problem, then it is not the software. Post back for more assistance with this.
If neither of these helps, you may have to reinstall iDVD. Again, post back if you get to this point and want assistance with reinstalling. You will need to find your original iLife installation disks, or the Mac installation disks if iLife was preinstalled on your computer when you purchased it.

  • Open an existing project in Eclipse

Hi, folks. I am really new to Eclipse. I followed a tutorial, created a new porject and few classes within it, that was all fine. Later on, I tried creating another new project while the first one was still opened under "Java prospective". But I could not see any updates under the "Package Explorer", i meant there was still the first project's package shown alone.
I tried closing the extire Eclipse platform and double clicking the PROJECT File under workspace\secondProject directory to open the second project, but what was shown in Eclipse was still the first project alone.
Could anyone please point me out what is the correct way of doing it? Thanx in advance.

To open your project in secondProject just create a new javaproject in Eclipse and set its path to ...\workspace\secondProject. Eclipse will then find the .project file and open the existing project.

  • I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and now I cannot open an existing project in ibooks author

I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and now I cannot open an existing project in ibooks author

The Quicken issue has been a hot topic in the Quicken forum as well as many others.  Intuit did not provided an updated Quicken when Lion came out.  I believe that within the past month Intuit has announced a version that does work in Lion, I looked into it, but was not impressed; there were some technical issues that prevent me from using it (don't recall the details though).  Fortunately, I found out about the Quicken mess when Lion came out, and like many users, migrated the quicken data files over to a common format that could be imported into a number of new financial apps like iBank.  Intuit lost a lot of Mac users over this.
As for Excel and Word, you have to buy Microsoft's newest version of Office on Mac to be compatible.

  • Open/import existing project

I created an Oracle Web Service Project, and it is still in my eclipse workspace. I deleted it from the eclipse Project Explorer (not from disc).
How may I reopen the project?
Sorry to plug up the forum with such a silly question, but I can't find it.
    Thank you.

One option would be to try and to overlay eclipse project metadata on your existing project by creating a new project with the same name and location (on your file system) as your existing project. I haven't tried this with a Web Services project but have made this work for other types of projects - so your mileage may vary.
Basically, you use the same steps used when you first create a project and just make sure the name and location are the same as your existing project. The steps would be something like this...
    - Copy your existing project to your Eclipse workspace or a location where you want to maintain the project as an Eclipse project.
    - Launch OEPE and configure a runtime environment for the version of your WebLogic server. To do this, launch OEPE, select from the main menu bar options, "Window -> Preferences -> Server -> Runtime Environments" and then select "Oracle -> WebLogic Server XYZ" corresponding to the version of your server installation. You will enter the path to your WebLogic and Java home directory. This process will set up your Eclipse workspace for the proper runtime environment.
    - Select "File -> New -> ..." and the project type you want to create.
    - In the New Project wizard,...
    - Use the exact same name/location of your existing project in the wizard.
    - click "modify" to update the configuration and include the desired technology facets or update versions that are in your project.
    - depending on the wizard there may be an option to generate the web.xml deployment descriptor. It would be selected by default and you can override to so that it is not selected and the process will not overwrite your existing web.xml.
After completing the remaining pages of the wizard, the process will generate the required Eclipse metadata to the project and will refresh the project so that it now contains all the src and content files from the underlying sub folders. If it doesn't you can force a refresh (F5) on the project.
This is just a rough example and you may have to do some additional configurations for dependent libraries, etc.

  • Why can't I open an existing project in Final Cut Pro X?

I am new to FCP.  There is no "save project" option anywhere.  So I assumed it saves my project automatically, since it always reopens.  So I went and started another project, assuming the first one was saved.  Now I can't find the first project.  I spend over 100 hours on it, and now it's gone?   I'm a PC user not used to macs and never used FCP before.   But I turned out this amazing project for work, got me a promotion, and now I just need to tweak it, and the deadline is tomorrow, and I have to start over again?   HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you look IN the events? If not there and to be certain it exists, try Open Library to see if there is another Library. If you are using 10.1.1, in the finder, in Movies, rt. click on the fcpbundle Library Icon/show contenets/projects.  Do not change anything while in there. Perhaps you have more than one library? The projects are in the seperate libraries/events.
Yes it auto saves. You can make a project snap shot to freeze in time and save everything in the project up to that point.
    Hope This Helps

  • Help!  Motion keeps crashing when I try to open an existing project

The log says kerning failure. The error message says something about ozone plug-in. I need to get this project done. I used a livefont and did adjust the kerning on one letter. It won't even let me in to undo it, if that is the problem. It worked fine until I did the last software update a couple of days ago, don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Duh! I forgot my tried and true rule. When in doubt, reboot. All is well.

  • Opening existing project with PRE 9

I have Premier Elements 9.0. When I start PRE and try to open a saved project, all I get is an empty window. The only way I can open an existing project is to first start a new one, then open the existing one from the File menu.
I don't know if it's connected, but I am also having a problem with installing an update that appears in Adobe Update manager. It downloads and then reports that it failed.

    bobsapey
Great job of resolving your Premiere Elements 9 project opening issue.
McAfee can be particularly problematic for Premiere Elements, controlling both the antivirus and firewall(s).
As a just in case note, are you working from the 9.0.1 Update of version 9. If not, good idea to do so. But, if you do, please
use the online link from Adobe rather than the 9's opened project's Help Menu/Update.
    If Windows
Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows : Premiere Elements 9.0.1 update

  • Premiere elements 11 will not download existing project unless I re-start computer.

When I open Premiere Elements 11 and try to open an existing project the welcome page stops its download status indicator after a minute or so. Sometimes the entire welcome page disappears, and I have to re-open the software. The only way I can get a project up and running is by re-starting the computer. I've already re-installed the software twice, but that is not working. I have windows 7 64 bit.
    Any help appreciated

    aaron-friedman
Can we assume by download an existing project that you mean open an existing project? Please excuse the question but I do not want to take anything for granted in trying to build a troubleshooting strategy.
What is the size of the existing project that you are trying to open?
Have you moved, deleted, or renamed any of the source media that went into this project after you saved closed the project?
What went into this project...project preset, source media properties....?
You wrote that you are using Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit. Typically that is a good combination, you have a 64 bit application running in 64 bit system where the program can take advantage of the 64 bit resources. But, just what are your 64 bit resources in terms of installed and available RAM and free hard drive? Any chance the project has a lot of photos with pixel dimensions that are grossly oversized for the project settings and the program?
Do you have any problems working with a new project or projects? Is it just this one that has problems?
Let us start here and then decide what next based on your forthcoming details.
    Thanks.

  • When I try opening an existing iDVD project, it doesn't open

When I try opening an existing iDVD '08 project, it goes back to the "start a new project, open an existing project" menu. I have spent several hours on the project and have quit iDVD and successfully opened it again numerous times, so I don't understand why that project won't open.
I have the most updated version of iDVD and deleted the iDVD plist in my library and used Disk Utility to repair permissions and restarted my computer, but it's still doing the same thing. I can see my project name in the "open" menu box and that it is 182 MB, and it lets me select it, but then it just goes back to that main iDVD menu. The project has 10 short movies (3 - 4 minutes each), no chapter markers, & one slideshow with 170 photos. I see a lot of postings about iDVD itself not opening, but that isn't the problem... I can open a new project with iDVD just fine.
    Any ideas?

Yeah. It does the same thing....opens the main startup window. Thanks though. Any other ideas?

    Could you clarify your situation?
You say that you cannot re-open an existing project. But, can you open a new project?
If you can, you might consider the damaged project angle on this.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-projects-premiere-element s.html
If both new and old projects involved, then I will rethink the matter.
Looking forward to your follow up.

  • IMovie, cannot add to existing project

I've opened an existing Project ( that has not yet been "shared" or "exported", and when I try to add a photo "click and drag", it shows up on the project screen, but when played "space bar", it does not appear- only the previous photo.
    Can someone help?
    Thank you

    Try this:
<CTRL> + click on that picture in the Project Browser. Then choose Reveal in Finder. When the Finder window opens your picture will be highlighted, <CTRL> + click on that picture Again and choose Open with > Preview. In Preview go to the Tools Menu > Adjust Color:
Make just tiny, ever so slight adjustment to the Exposure Slider. Then go to the File Menu > Save. Quit Preview.
In iMovie quit the program, then launch it again. See if iMovie can play that particular picture back. If it is still stuck on the previous picture perform this same operation on the Previous picture instead. Something in these steps forces iMovie to re-index, or account for the changes in the picture forcing it to refresh it in the project. And this sometimes clears up the problem.

  • System hang when opening Motion 5 project

    Hi,
Just bought Motion 5 and I am playing around with it for a while now. Today I created a Motion 5 project, which went pretty well. Later I wanted to open it again but was unable to do so. When I try, it starts loading the components in the time line, but it then dies and I cannot do anything anymore  except do a hard reboot ???!!! Memory is showing 50%
Earlier I had set a preference to open the last project when Motion starts. The consequence of that was it would use up all memory (4GB) immediately after startup and leave my system unusable. I then deleted the Motion plist files, so it would at least start up. I can start a new project, but, as I said earlier, cannot open an existing project anymore.
Does anybody have any ideas ?

Thanks for your response. That is exactly what I did. I used an app (AppCleaner) which identifies all copmponents of an app, including all plists. So I removed Motion completely, downloaded it again from the Appstore and reinstalled. No luck.
Yesterday I created a tiny Motion project with only a single clip and a light and was able to open that again. Projects created earlier will not open, though, and cause the complete system to stall to the extent that even force quit is not possible anymore.
The console log shows a couple of messages that might give a clue:
Pretty strange, btw, that a single app is capable of neutralizing an operating system. I have always thought this was a Windows thingy, but not Apple.....
