Opening and maintaining old projects (from RH 2002) in RH 7

Does anyone have tips on converting old projects from a very
old version of RH (2002) to RH 7? We have two very large webhelp
projects with context-sensitive topics, plus many other without. We
realize that backing up is essential, but are there any other
details that we should know about or information that you can point
us to?

WebHelp recommendations, as a way to possibly split those very
large projects into more manageable chunks (they're bound to keep
growing, right?).

Editing Old Project from External Hard Drive

Last year my G5 developed an incurable Kernel error issue. I decided to buy a new iMac and have been very pleased. I backed up my system to an external hard drive and now I would like to access an old project from the external drive.
I selected the external drive and went to the last date of my backup. However, this is where I have no idea how to complete this task. Can I simply open FCE and import the project from the drive? Will all of the media transfer over?
Would really like to know the ins and outs before I begin and paint myself into a corner. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by "restore". I am assuming I will need to do the following:
1. Open FCE
2. Import the old project from my external drive
3. This is where I get lost. Can you please fill in the blanks from her for me. I cannot seem to find the instructions to do this anywhere.

Have you found a solution yet? I don’t know if I will be of any help but I was curious and no one else has chimed in yet.
I don’t quite understand all of your statement.
To clarify, you were making SimpleSave backups from Win95 and cannot see them all on the Win7 laptop?
Or
You were copying files over (SimpleSave utility not used) and you cannot see those files on Win7 but you can on the Win95 machine?
Do you have another Win7 machine you could connect the external to, to see if the files are still not showing (one that is not locked for work)?
On the drive that shows full, can you see it in Disk Management showing the correct size of the drive and also another CD drive? Not your real CD/DVD drive, it’s actually a CD emulator that is attached to the HDD for encrypting the backups and all SimpleSave’s have them.
Lastly, did you reformat the SimpleSave drive to Fat32 first?
My understanding is that USB support was quite limited on Win95 machines. Since Win95 is Fat32 and the SimpleSave drive is by default NTFS, I would think it would not work.

How to open and read many files from a directory and store contents in 2D array?

I want to make a VI that opens and reads the data from various files contained in a directory (200 files each with 2 columns) and store these in a single 2D array. For file number 1 I want to store the data from both columns in the 2D array, but for files 2 to 200 I only want to store the second column of each file. Can someone please help?

Thanks for your help. I have followed your instructions but i cannot get it to work. I used the LIST DIRECTORY to list the files in the directory - that works. However, how do I read each of the 200 files using READ FROM SPREADSHEET FILE without me having to manually select each of the 200 files? So, if I use LIST DIRECTORY to list all 200 files in an array, how do I get each of these to open and store the data in a 2D array? Here is what I have done (File called read_files.VI) Could you please help me? Thank you very much in advance.

To keep the file unchanged and work with a copy, click Duplicate." I clicked "unlock" and then another message came up with the options of OK, Cancel, or Revert. If I hit OK, I couldn't go back to my original picture. I clicked OK.
Then later I tried to open the picture in iPhoto and it doesn't recognize it, even though it is still a JPEG file. It still shows on my camera, but shows as a bland square in iPhoto. Have I lost the ability to open it in iPhoto? Will I be able to go to a store and print it out from my camera?

What software did you use and exactly what did you do and what exactly was the error message? There is a good chance that you will need help for the support for the program you used. Where was the photos you were editing not using iPHoto?

What version of iPhoto Had you imported the photo into iPhoto - iPhoto is not a photo viewer and can not open photos that have not been imported

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. is it possible to open and edit Protel99SE projects in UltiBoard 12.0?
i'm a beginner in this field and i just want to know how to handle a Protel99SE project to edit it and add connector to the PCB
to interface a sbRIO 9602 with its DIO connectors.

Hi,
Ultiboard does have support for some protel files. You can open .pcb and .ddb files. In Ultiboard, go to File >> Open and select the file in question and see if you can open it.

When you say that you rebooted, do you mean like this? Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If thats what you did and it failed, it couldn't hurt to reset your router as well by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds.
You can also try Resetting All Settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. That will require you to join the network again and that might trigger the connection again. No data is lost when resting all settings but as the name implies, all device settings will be restored to factory defaults and you will have to enter your preferred settings again.

New computer - Can I open previous FCPX events/projects from an external hard drive on my new computer?

My old computer died - a Macbook Pro from 2011. Fortunately, I saved all of my FCPX events and projects on an external hard drive. Unfortunately, many of those projects were unfinished.
I have since bought a new iMac with FCPX, but I can't figure out how to open my old projects.
On my external hard drive, I have 2 folders: Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects.
Under a specific event, there is an "Analysis Files" folder, a "CurrentVersion.fcpevent" file, an "Original Media" folder, and a "Render Files" folder.
Under a specific project, there is a "CurrentVersion.fcpproject", a "Render Files" folder, and a "Shared Items" folder.
Is it possible to open up my old FCPX projects? Thanks so much for your help!

information) for the FPGA in a old project? We are using a 7841R board, but the
old LabVIEW project always treat the board as 7830R and I therefore can not complete the compiling and run
the project.

You need to add the new board as a new target to the project. If you're using a recent version of LabVIEW you can then drag all the resources from the old FPGA target to the new one (I don't know if this works for IO items). In older versions of LabVIEW, you may be able to drag the files but you'll need to recreate the IO, FIFOs, memory blocks etc.
