Opening aperture 2.1.3 shuts down computer
When opening Aperture 2.1.3 it suddenly shuts down the computer once it has fully started up, a problem I have never encountered before. Any suggestions to what may have happened and how to get it fixed?
Cheers
There us no crash log, the whole computer just shuts down, zap out. No log gets written.
I tried to re-install Aperture, it loads and as soon as it is finished starting up the whole computer shuts down again. It only happens with Aperture. Before it was running ok.

iphoto has been importing photos for over n hour and I can't get it to stop. Can't get out of iphoto and can't shut down computer.
iPhoto works best when the source (Pictures folder) is on a different disk drive than the iPhoto Library is on.
And you need to have enough free disk space to work with, the faster the better.
Also, do not keep your media folders and those in your home folder on the same drive as the system, also another bottleneck.
Until or unless you have everything on 1400MB/sec SSD PCIe controller, you want
System boot drive
Media and data folders and such
scratch
backup
etc
I put iPhoto on an SSD off an SSD PCIe Sonnet Tempo card
If you stop- it, you will need to trash the Library it was creating.
Reading and writing to/from the same hard drive will be slow.
You don't mention which Mac, or how large you are trying to import etc
Also the support page and link to the iPhoto Commuinity is off this page:
http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto
Take a look in Activity Monitor. See what the % being used for iPhoto, how many pageouts, how much free space on the various disk drives, and how much RAM do you have installed?

v 3.6.13 - what has become of 'Restore previous session'? I've lost track of many topics in tags I had open when I had to shut down in advance of a power down by the electricity co. for day-long maintenence work in my area. Being able to quickly close all tags, knowing one can recover them later is invaluable.See:

my downloaded apps are not opening, they flash and then shut down. This hapened after i upgraded to the 5.0. How do i fix it!? I've tried everything
You need to resync you applications or redownload them for free via app store. They may be read by your phone, but they are really not there. Re downloading will fix this.

oxc000005
It's 0xC0000005.
When you use computers, you need to distinguish between O (oh) and 0 (zero). And you need to learn to count the zeros.

# Question
there are times when I try to start firefox 3.6 that it does not come up,but when I click it again, I get fire fox is running but not responding, close fire fox, or shut down computer. There are other times that it starts up normally wit no probs
..Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
Thanks for the advice, Bee

Cannot open jpgs Preview will not shut down, color spinning wheel present
Trying to open jpgs and all I get is the spinning color
wheel. The files will not open.
Preview will not shut down even with apple prompt
of instructions on how to do so.
First aid in the OS10 utilities has seemed to disappear, but its still there for OS9.
I've been opening hundreds and hundreds of jpgs the last few weeks, printing and dumping duplicate images, etc...
And now I get this.
Ideas on how to clear this problem up? And ideas as to what the problem is?
thx - CraigIt sounds like it might be a good idea to run the disk utilities (applications/utilities/disk utility) and run the repair disk permissions. I have found that this often solves these oddball problems.
Try completely restarting everything. Run preview before clicking on anything and try opening one of these items from the file menu. does it make a difference? If so, do "get info" on a jpeg image and see if preview is the default viewer for it. If not, that may be your problem. If you have another preferred application you may want to set all your jpegs to open in that application until you get preview straightened out. Best of luck! -

When I open newsstand it only stays open for 1 second then shuts down. This started happening after I upgraded to 6.0. Any suggestions for how to fix this?
Try quitting Newsstand completely - double tap home button, delete it from the multitasking shelf - then launch it again.

Hi! I salute you all!
First of all I want to excuse my english (it's not my native language)!
In 2014 we are dealing with thousands of files (video, audio, etc.), because of the present powerful technology, still... we are missing very important and useful parts for doing our jobs properly and very quickly!
In this case is Adobe Audition too, in my oppinion!
Adobe Audition is a great program, which help us to edit in many ways our audio files, but... unfortunatelly has major missing parts, which would be nice to be implemented as soon as possible!
Some of them are are right below this line:
1. AutoTrim (for removing silences from audio files, before and after)
2. Include Subfolders From A Folder (when adding a folder for working with, we should have the possibillity to add its subfolders too)
3. Preserve Subfolder Structure (when exporting a folder with its all subfolders, we should have the possibillity to export the exact structure like the original)
4. Auto Shut Down Computer (when all the tasks/jobs are done, we should be able to auto close the program and auto shut down our desktop/laptop as well)
When you will add these features which are so wanted, to have them all in Batch Processing mode and Match Volume mode as well, please?!
Many other audio softwares have all of these "old" possibillities, like "GoldWave" for instance (I am not advertising it at all), but the Adobe Audition which is more complex...doesn't so far!
I thank you all and I really wait for these very next future feature requests!
Have a nice day!
P.S.: Is this message/question read by Adobe stuff members (persons who can take decissions in this way) too, or only by us, the comunity members?!Hello Kavans,
