Opening apps on Blackberry Playbook

Hi.  First time posting as I just bought the Blackberry Playbook.  Love it so far.
However, I can't seem to open the apps I have downloaded.
Have I forgotten a step?
I'd appreciate any help in a step by step form.  (that way I can tell what I'm doing wrong.)
Thanks.

I found the solution to my problem with opening apps.  When i clicked "All," i forgot to scroll down further.  The apps were there.
However, I still think that the apps should be accessible from the list  "My World" as well.  It just seems logical to me that when I bring up a list of MY apps, I should be able to access them from the convenient "My World" location.  In any case, I solved the problem.  A simple error, but it does point out the need for a simple, straight-forward FAQ list for those of us who are intelligent but not not computer programmers.
Don't tell the manufacturer, but it is satisfying to figure these things out by oneself.  [grin]

  • Repackaging Android Viewer App for BlackBerry PlayBook

    Hi,
Does anyone have tried this? If yes, then was repackaged Viewer working OK on the PlayBook? What tools/utilitiies were used for repackaging as there are few available:
    https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/
    http://crackberry.com/how-install-android-market-and-other-applications-your-blackberry-pl aybook
"The BlackBerry PlayBook is a tablet like no other. The powerful QNX Real Time Operating System embedded within allows it run an entirely different operating system as another application on top of the standard PlayBook OS. This is how the PlayBook will run repackaged Android applications. For the most part, though, repackaged apps will appear to run just like regular PlayBook applications."
    Thank you,
    Gennady
Update: This compatibility test determines how compatible your app  is with the BlackBerry PlayBook OS:
    https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/bpaa/apk-compatibility-check
And this is a result for Android Market Installer build with Sprint 19 Viewer Builder:
Your application is not compatible with the BlackBerry® Runtime for Android™ Apps.
Your application uses a feature which is incompatible with the current version of the BlackBerry® Runtime for Android™ Apps. We recommend that you download the BlackBerry® Plug-in for ADT to test your application and remove features as required.
    4. Severe incompatibilities found
    Impact     Type     Reason
    3     uses-permission     com.android.vending.BILLING
So if In-app Billing would be optional checkbox for Android app with the optional use of com.android.vending.BILLING in the code, then I guess it will be possible to repackage Viewer for PlayBook. And yes, Amazon Appsstore Installer is compatible with the BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps.

OS2 for the Playbook is still in beta at this point, should be released sometime next month.
So your problem is not that you can't find any apps, you just can't find the one(s) you're looking for.

  • Question: reader app in Blackberry Playbook

In my Blackberry Playbook, to read a book:
How can I place a bookmark where I have left off so that it does not open to the beginning of the book each time I open the reader?
How can I change the size of the font? If you use the BB in the vertical (portrait) orientation, the print is too small to read comfortably.
Also, can I delete a book directly from the Playbook, or do I need to connect to the computer and delete the book after opening the file on the computer?
    Thank you!

  • How much is the Blackberry Playbook developing license?

Hi, I want to know how much is the license to develop AIR Apps for Blackberry Playbook and to publish them on the Blackberry Store.
For example... for iOS Apps the fee is of 99$ by year.... and for the Blackberry store?
    Bye and thanks
    Brandon

Hi Mark. There are a few things to install and you need to register as a vendor for the app world - but it's all fairly straightforward. Here's an excellent link from the BlackBerry PlayBook forum. One of the guys there goes through everything you need in a real good level of detail.
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Tablet-OS-SDK-for-Adobe-AIR/Tips-Definitive-guide-t o-AIR-apps-for-playbook/td-p/1080047
It's well worth registering on the forum too.
    Good luck !

  • Bought app in order to sync itunes with a blackberry playbook.  Now Itunes will open on my computer but when i plug  my ipods in to charge or sync, itunes is not showing that they are plugged in. Cant charge or anything!

Obviously not too smart with all this technology.  I puchased a Blackberry Playbook Tablet and wanted to sync my itunes music, so following directions on the Playbook, I downloaded this app - Daniel Bingham Itunes sync - and when I went to my pc, I pulled it up, plugged in my Playbook and it did sync all my music from my Itunes library to the Playbook.  However, now when I plug an ipod in my pc to charge or sync more music, my pc is not showing it recognizes any of my ipods being plugged in.  It makes no mention of any of my ipods being connected!  I also keep getting this "Found New Hardware Wizard" box that keeps popping up everytime I plug an ipod in - it originally showed up when I had Playbook plugged in to download all its info (I think) but it never completes, saying not compatible - so I click cancel. I have since clicked on remove New found hardware but it still pops up. Why does it continue to show with every Ipod now?  Any idea on what I can do to repair this situation?  Please help!

You performed all of the steps outlined in this link?

  • "Unable to Open" PDF attachment using BlackBerry PlayBook when message is received from Exchange 03

    Hello,
Recently I have found that some users are having an issue with opening PDF attachments on the BlackBerry PlayBook using their Exchange 2003 accounts.
I have isolated the issued to only users on Exchange 2003 using activesync.
To resolve/workaround you can select and hold the attachment until you have the option to "Open" or "Save As". Select "Save As" and rename the attachment to the same name but include .pdf at the end of the file name. This allow the attachment to open in Adobe and show the PDF document in the email message correctly.
Messages where being recieved as .null attachments with same file name but no extension.
    Hope this helps anyone.

  • Adobe Reader for the BlackBerry PlayBook Showstopping Issue: App does not start

    Hello;
I would like to report an issue with the Adobe Reader app for the BlackBerry PlayBook which renders the application fully unusable. This issue occurs everytime. This issue has been tested and verified to occur in two distinct BlackBerry PlayBook devices.
Here is a screenshot stating what version (10.0.3.325) of the Adobe Reader app I have installed:
This, I understand, is the latest version for my platform. Unfortunately, the application does not start. Attempting to run it results in a blank screen after showing the BlackBerry logo. The blank screen can be seen in the following screenshot:
It is also strange that the application does not appear in the Application Permissions list, as seen in the following screenshot:
Is there a fix for this showstopping issue? What steps should I take?

Same issue here.  Playbook support knows about it, and referred to Adobe.  The Adobe forum has this comment.  Looks like our Playbooks are abandoned as a platform.
    "Mar 4, 2012 7:20 PM
As the tablet market continues to evolve, we continue to evaluate how to best support the market and where to focus on our resources. Because of this,  Adobe has decided to end its support of the  RIM QNX Playbook devices in March 2012.  This means the ability to create new applications for submission to the RIM store will no longer be possible in Adobe Viewer Builder as well as the ability to rebuild existing targets for new releases of Digital Publishing Suite. Any existing QNX targets will be removed from the manage view inside Viewer Builder".

  • Open pdf in Blackberry app

There is an Adobe Reader app for Blackberry Z10,
    https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/26086872/
and I can open email attachment file use the reader,
but how can I call it to open pdf file in my app?

The PDF would be linked from a server and the hand off would then go to either Safari or back to iBooks. If it is a live PDF form, you'd stick with Safari and keep it on the server, but then you'd be doing logins, etc.
In the end, as it sounds like you're entertaining a lab tool, these types of interactivity seem to accumulate and hint at an iOS app, instead of a book, tho, I think.

  • When will single edition apps be available on Android, Amazon Fire, and Blackberry Playbook?

When will single edition apps be available on Android, Amazon Fire, and Blackberry Playbook? This is very important as we were told we would soon be able to publish on all devices and not just using the in-app service. My company is currently using the Professional Edition of Adobe DPS.
    Thank you and best wishes,
    Alex Rullo

Single-Folio-Apps (created with the Single-Edition or a professional licence) include the folio itself — resulting in a big app size.
Currently, the Android Market has a 50MB limit for .apk-Apps. (http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/developer/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=113469)
At the Google IO this year they talked about raising this limit up to 4GB, but that is more complicated. the app itself still has 50MB of allowed size, but there are additional data handled by the android market that can be downloaded upon starting the 50MB .apk app from the android market.
that targets games mostly. Adobe has to think about a way to split up viewer and content to make use of this feature.
However, Multi-Folio-Apps are currently possible (only with Pro Edition) on Android. They are relatively small (2-5 MB) and the .folios are comming from the adobe servers (download costs!). You need to create a new role/magazine in the account administration and publish your app as a multi folio app.

  • BlackBerry PlayBook glitches out don't no if it is the blackberry or a virus in DESPERATE need of help!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,
I got this black berry PlayBook for Christmas and it starts to open up random things and just 'glitch' out idk if it is a virus but I really want to find out I have restarted it and it didn't  work  please help!!!!!!

If it opens random apps without you touching the screen at all, even after doing a 3 button reset, try a security wipe.

  • Applications for my blackberry playbook.

    Hi,
my name is eddie and i live in Guyana i receintly baught a blackberry playbook, my main problem is that App World is not supported in my country and i'm trying to get new applications for my device.
My question is, is there anyway that i can get the App World to work or any other alternative ways of getting applications on my device? Plz help me out asap!
    Thank you.

    Hi Eddie,
Sorry that you can't get AppWorld in your country.
You can use a proxy to access AppWorld. There are some sites online that offer a list of publix proxies:
    http://www.xroxy.com/proxy-country-US.htm
    But these are very slow.
There are some paid services that give you faster proxy access.
Alternatively, you can do what I do and use Amazon to create a personal (and high-speed) proxy:
    http://home.engineering.iastate.edu/~hawklan/squidProxy/squidProxy.html
Once you have your proxy details to hand, go into the wifi connections options, edit your wifi connection and add the proxy details there.
Before you open AppWorld, I'd suggest loading a web page first just to check it is all working.
I hope that this helps you!

  • Curve 9320 and Blackberry Playbook

I'm having issues pairing my device (9320) with my new Blackberry Playbook. The software on my phone is 7.1 Bundle 2039. I can pair both devices together through Blackberry Bridge but it shows that I've recieved new emails but doesnt let me open them.
I paired the Playbook with a friends phone (9360) which operates on a different system 7.1 Bundle 1133. And this works fine and we can access the emails and the device and playbook work fine.
Can I get the same software on my 9320 or any other suggestions please?
    Thanks
    Shane

    Hi Shane900,
Make sure you are using the latest version of BlackBerry® Bridge™ available in BlackBerry App World™ then test it again.
    Thanks.
