Opening archived premiere pro project on another comp issues.

I get the error message... "This project was saved in a newer version of Adobe Premiere Pro and cannot be opened in this version."  However both versions are Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.  Is this an Adobe problem or a problem with my computers?

Did you figure this out? I am having the same problem.

  • Opening A Premiere Pro CS6 Project in Premiere Pro CS 5.5

I downloaded Premiere Pro CS 6. I already have Premiere Pro CS 5.5 on my computer. I had read you can open up a CS 6 Project in CS 5.5 by doing the following:
    1) Saving your project file on your Hard Drive
    2) Copy it just for back up
    3) Right Click (Control Click) on the original Project File and open it up in Text Edit.
    4) On the fourth row Change Version "25" to Version "24"
    5) Save it.
I opened up Premiere Pro 5.5 and went to File (that I just changed to open in Premiere CS 5.5) - Open Project - and I then clicked on that file. It started to open up. When Premiere 5.5 was open this dialog box came up:
I clicked OK and everything opened up in 5.5 fine. It worked great. You can open up a CS6 project in Premiere 5.5.
What does this box mean? I installed CS 6 as is. I did not add any third party files or transitions or filters.
    Thanks in Advance

this is the best piece of advice i have found. thankyou so much edwurd. I have premiere pro 5.5 and 6, I had to upgrade to 6 for some commercial work, but half my plugins have now gone into another dimension and 6 doesn;t see them these consist of red giant and new blue fx plugins mostly. These all work great in 5.5 premiere but of course with new projects now in 6 half of them cease to be seen by the plugin loader even though they are in the cache after 11 days of installing and reinstalling still no one can help. I had a huge project i was working layered with all these third party plugins that 6 didn't want to play with anymore, although it used to, I just tried your suggestion. and it worked perfectly, i didn't even get the error box the whole thing / 6 project /  opened beautifully in 5.5 with all plugins functioning and happy. Thankyou again. you are a legend.

  • Open Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 project   in Adobe Premiere Pro CC

    Hi everyone,
Did somebody knows how to open Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 project   in Adobe Premiere Pro CC ?
    Best regards, Alex

This method is not good for me, because I lost stuff  like titles with its settings of motions and effects (I try to open my templates for video clips ).
Maybe there is another way to do it ?

  • After Effects CS5.5 will not open a Dynamically Linked Premiere Pro sequence in the comp. window

    Hi all,
I'm trying to export a Premiere Pro sequence which is in 2K and the footage has been shot as RED 5K. Adobe Media Encoder will simply not work as I am having the quite widely discussed issue where it will just 'hang' at certain points and not complete the export.
The most popular solution to this problem is to export via the Render Queue in After Effects instead. However, therein lies the problem.
I go onto After Effects. Choose File -> Dynamic Link -> Import Premiere Pro Sequence.
The box pops up, I choose the Premiere Pro Project File then select the sequence I want to export. It then appears in the After Effects project panel window like so:
However - when I try and drag this to a new composition window, one of two things have happened. Either A) nothing happens (literally, NOTHING changes) or B) as the following example shows, it seems to add it to a new composition, but the video is entirely black. I have tried rendering it and it just produces a black video.
The other thing people seem to suggest is to just import the entire Premiere Pro sequence into After Effects. I've tried this, but any titles I have added in PP force the video to fade out then back in, in the place where the title should be?? So I can't export the video this way either.
    My system is as follows:
Thanks massively in advance for any help that is provided!

This is months old but I'm now having the same problem with AE and Premiere CS6 after updating last night: Dynamic linked sequence shows up in the project window in AE and even plays video if previewed, but will not drag or alt-drag into any comps, including a new comp (makes a new comp with matching settings, but empty).
Furthermore, I do actually have an earlier version of the same sequence placed in one of my AE comps, which I think was done using the same steps just prior to updating the apps last night. Did this break?
I'm a little concerned since the biggest reason I'm trying to use premiere is to eliminate the exports when adding graphics in AE.

  • Premiere Elements Project file wount open in Premiere Pro CS6

My friend Just bought Premiere elements 13 and created a Project. I cant open the Project in Premiere Pro CS6. Getting this error message:
"The Project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened."
The Project workes fine in Premiere Elements 13
What can I do? What is wrong?

    If you have done this:
Import a Premiere Elements project (Windows only)
       Select File > Open Project.
Browse to an Adobe Premiere Elements project file, with file extension PREL.
       Click Open.
Premiere Pro converts the Premiere Elements project file to a Premiere Pro project file.
and it wont work Elements 13 is probably too new for CS6.

  • Premiere Pro Project Manager does NOT include After Effects files.

Warning: Premiere Pro "Project Manager" does NOT include the After Effects 'dynamic linked composition' files associated with the project when "Collect File and Copy to New Location" resulting in the incomplete and loss of all dynamic linked compositions in the new project destination ( folder or disc drive ) .. I know this also includes Photoshop dynamic links and assume includes Audition audio files as well.

Here's the best way: Personal Responsibility.
Put all of your project files in one file. Stop asking PPro to do it for you. It's simple. This is a no-brainer. If you create a linked comp, create it in the same file as your PPro project and files. When you send it to Encore, create the Encore project in the same folder. Works all the time, every time. When you're sure that you're finished with the project for the forseeable future, move the entire folder off your workstation into storage. Do I move a copy of each asset (video clip, image, audio, etc.) into this folder before I import it to my AE or PPro project? Yes I do. Is it overly time-consuming? Not really. I can fly on my machine. Does it beat not being able to open a project later. Oh yes. Yes it does. I'd say I did 50 projects last year this way. When I occasionally had to move a project folder back to the workstation, I had no problems. Everything worked as it did before I off-loaded it. That's because I take personal responsibility for my projects. It's imporatnat that theyt work, especially if I end up having to hand it off to a third party down the road.
BTW, my workstation is RAID 0. If you are using anything less, you need to upgrade. What I'm trying to tell you is that my system works very well. I have not always done things the right way. I have had my share of frustration. The point is that I learned. Now I'm passing that on to you. I use CS5 on an HP Z800 with a measely 12 gigs of ram and a single i7 quad core and the aforementioned RAID 0 configuration and a hacked Nvidia GTS 450. It works quite well. I'm sure I would do even better with another i7, 12 more gigs of ram and a Quadro 4000, but this is what they give me to use.
Additionally, I'm using CS5 at home on a MUCH older HP xw8200 dual dual Xeons, 12 gigs of ram and software-only MPE. Guess what? It works quite well.

  • Premiere pro project suddenly degraded

My 50-minute Premiere Pro project suddenly degraded between work sessions. It contains mixed footage - mov files the smallest and the sequence settings match that - and dv footage.
It looked perfect, but when it was opened to resume work on another day them image quality had degraded badly. When rendered It plays ok but is degraded in pause. Color correction is now impossible.
    I hope you can help.

For starters, you can't perform a proper color correction using the built in monitors.  They are not designed to show you an accurate image, as you're now discovering.  You MUST get the signal off the computer and onto a properly calibrated TV.  This will ensure you're seeing the signal accurately, which is the first step in color correction.  Trying to remove too much red that was put there by an inaccurate display is an exercise in futility.
Having said that, click the wrench under the Program Monitor and make sure Playback Resolution is set to full.

  • Is it possible to export, and include AE compositions used within a Premiere Pro project, via project manager?

I've several Premiere Pro CC 2014 projects I want to relocate via project manager (one at a time). They're excessive in size (many long and unused footage files), so "Create New Trimmed Project" is the setting-option, within project manager, most attractive. BTW I love how project manager does this... However, when I check on its new location, I don't see any linked AfterEffects files. Fine, I try the other setting "Collect Files and Copy to New Location". This option allows me to now copy everything including rendered scenes featuring my AE compositions (and a lot of excess, unused files)... but still no AE files!
Is it possible to export a Premiere Pro project, excluding unused files, yet include all used files... especially linked files such as AE compositions?

Though not exactly the solution I seek, I've tried an alternative approach... it works (if anyone's interested)... but my original question still stands.
Alternative approach (and probably the only option now):
When I copy & trim my Premiere Pro project via project manager to its new location, I can open the new file and see the track editor now includes broken links to AfterEffects compositions. Since I don't wish to relink these to the current .AEP file, I may package** the original AE project to a location near my newly-located Premiere Pro project folder. To do this, I open the original .AEP file containing any compositions linked to my original Premiere Pro project, and use File < Dependencies < Collect Files. This feature copies all files (and a new .AEP copy) from this AE project to my newly selected destination (as long as no files are missing).
So at this point, when I open my newly-located PP project, I can relink the broken AfterEffects composition links in PP to the new .AEP file. Yay!
**package (for those unaware) is the term used within Adobe InDesign. This feature gathers all linked files that makeup the overall design and layout, and copies into a new folder.

  • Converting AE project into Adobe Premiere Pro project.

I have found the way to convert AE project into Adobe Premiere Pro project.
I use the following line of code:
    app.executeCommand(app.findMenuCommandId("Adobe Premiere Pro Project ..."));
It works. But unfortunately it opens the SaveFileDialog window for the file name to be assigned.
I'd love not to see this window. I'd love to assign the file name programmatically. It would be great!
Is there any way to prevent the dialog window from opening?
    Thank you.

Depends if you are on the cloud or not or the new 12.0 version.  One way to do it is to import your AE footage into PP as pending on your puter....
Important to tell your version and OS when posting. What seems clear at your end is being asked from someone who has not seen your challenge.

  • Bringing Premiere Pro project into After Effects

I tried importing Premiere Pro projects to After Effects, but I only got the various files, not the timeline. I just watched a tutorial about Dynamic Link, but when I clicked Adobe Dynamic Link/New After Effects composition in Premiere, I got a layer that was all black, with no sound. I have CS3 Production Premium and Windows XP Media Center SP2.
Right now, I just want to keep what I edited in Premiere, but I get better quality video if I export it to H.264 MOV in After Effects than anything I've found in Premiere. I can't understand why that's so, but until I find something just as good in Premiere, I want to save everything in After Effects.

Create a project and a comp. Copy the timeline from Premiere Pro and paste it into the timeline of After Effects.

  • After Effects export as Premiere Pro project weird PAL/NTSC problem

This post is not a question. It's here, because I've found a solution and want to share with You.
I've noticed a strange problem during export from AE to PR.
    Ok, here I go.
    AE = After Effects CS3
    PR = Premiere Pro CS3
My AE project is D1/DV PAL Widescreen. It is a sequence of slideshow with some video effects applied. I needed that sequence in PR. I was happy to find a new feature - export as premiere pro project (new for me - i am pretty rookie ;). Thaks to this feature I have saved most of my disk space that is always to low. But, like every first try, this one was not perfect too. I had two problems.
    Problem no 1.
I opened exported project in PR and saw message like "video effect AE.CC COMPOSITE not present".
Whole composition was working perfectly except that one video effect that was fundamental for this project.
*Solution was as easy as it can be. I've just copied that effect from AE plugin folder to PR plugin folder. It worked for this.
    Problem no 2
Like says AE Help "When you export an After Effects project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project, Adobe Premiere Pro uses the settings from the first composition in the After Effects project for all subsequent sequences."
Project settings in PR was exactly D1/DV PAL Widescreen. So where is the problem You ask?
Therefore why my Timeline works in NTSC 29,97 frame rate if all settings match PAL 25 frame rate?! I don't know.
*Solution to fix this annoying bug is to create a new project in PR with all settings for D1/DV PAL Widescreen in this case. Than just import that PR project exported from AE. Now timeline works like it should in PAL frame rate.
    That's it.
I hope this post is helpful, because I didn't find any answer for this here in Adobe forum.

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Arbitrary data param not importing from Premiere Pro project into After Effects.

    Hi,
I have an AE SDK plugin effect that works in Premiere Pro and After Effects... the effect has a bunch of standard parameters and one Arbitrary Data parameter.
I believe that the Arbitrary data parameter is implemented correctly, and I have implemented all of the cases for PF_Cmd_ARBITRARY_CALLBACK...
    PF_Arbitrary_NEW_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_DISPOSE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COPY_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_UNFLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_INTERP_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COMPARE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_SCAN_FUNC
The only issue I have found, is that when importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects with the "Import -> Adobe Premiere Pro Project" option, the value in the Arbitrary Data
parameter is always the default. There is no problem saving or re-opening projects within AE or PP... and there are no problems with cutting and pasting instances of the effect.
Importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects using the Dynamic Link works correctly... the Arbitrary data is imported.
    Thanks.

Some kind of answer would be awesome... there are Adobe staff members on here right?

  • Importing a Premiere Pro Project file in AE

    Hi,
I've just finish editing a long feature with Premiere Pro that I've broken down into 10 project files to allow Premiere not to have the memory crash.
Now I'd like to import in AE the project file to be able to do image stabilization on different shot and sky replacement.
    My questions are:
    a) If I import the project files, can I make modifications in AE (like color correction, stabilization, sky replacement,...) then save the project so that it can still be opened in Premiere
    b) Can I recombined my whole feature into one project in AE or the memory won't handle it as Premiere's memory didn't ?
    Thank you.

    > If I import the project files, can I make modifications in
    > AE (like color correction, stabilization, sky replacement,...)
    > then save the project so that it can still be opened in Premiere
You can save a Premiere Pro project from After Effects. See
"Export an After Effects project to Adobe Premiere Pro".
Note that there are several other ways of moving data between After Effects and Premiere Pro, including copy & paste and Dynamic Link. See
"Working with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects".
    > Can I recombined my whole feature into one project in AE
    > or the memory won't handle it as Premiere's memory didn't ?
The size of the project doesn't tend to be a problem for After Effects. (Frame size, occasionally; image buffer size, occasionally; but not project size.)
