Opening attachments using redirector

I am using outlook 2003.  I use it for all e-mails, calendar events, and tasks.  The desktop software redirects my e-mail but i can not open the attachments.  If i send attachment directory to blackberry storm it opens the attachments fine, it is only with Blackberry Desktop redirector.  In reading other postings i am to understand that you can not open attachments using this method.  I can not use a filter to just forward all my e-mails to the blackberry.  (that function is being blocked).  Is there a 3rd party software that will allow two way e-mail and calendar exchanges from my PC to my blackberry storm.  (I know BES will do this but i do not have a server)  What can i use?

for calendar synchronization, you can use Google Calendar as a middleware :
Outlook + Google Cal Sync PC <--> Google Cal web <--> Blackberry Calendar + Google Mobile Sync
with that you can have near realtime sync (15min)
for emails,if your company provides you with Outlook Web Access I have read you can connect your BIS account to Exchange using OWA as a connector, but I've never really understood how.
about using Desktop Redirector, I am not aware of a problem with opening emails.

  • I have a mac 10.6 system when using firefox, I can no longer open attachments or downloads. I deleted firefox and reinstalled and it still doesn't work.

When using firefox, I can no longer open attachments, pdf or downloads. A new window will open and it is blank. The only way to open an attachment or pdf is to shut down firefox and use safari. Everything works with safari so I can't understand what went wrong with firefox. I even download adobe reader thinking that would help. I then deleted my original firefox and re downloaded firefox again. It still doesn't work.
I am using a 10.6 operating system on my Mac.

Try to disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
*Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader
PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document.

  • IPad will not open email attachments using webmail ?

Hi We own a iPad 3, OS5.1.1 ( the iPad belongs to my wife ) therefore she has her own account set up using the iPad's email programme ( I do not have my email account on this iPad as we want to keep our accounts seperate)  When I login to my email account using my webmail I can not open any attachement wheather it be pdf.doc, txt ext etc ? when I select the document ( attachment ) nothing happens - if my wife has any pdf's attached to her emails using the iPad's email programme they open without any problems ? I have spoken to my email provider as a webmail programme should be able to open attachments connected with an email - but they are not at all helpful they are suggesting that the problem is with the iPad which I am not at all convinced by unless I am advised other wise by anybody with a technical experience of this problem. We have 3rd party apps such as PDF Reader and also iBooks which can read ePub files - can any body help with this - I am not talking about downloading files here, I am simply talking about the capacity to just open and read an attachment which I can not do with our iPad - we have plenty of memory and drive space, therefore I think it is a bug which might be due to a combination of the webmail programme and the iPad not working with each other - or simply something that is not apparent to me Any help would be much appreciated Many Thanks Mavis

    I had the same problem.
A colleage sent an email from an ipad with a pdf attachment (via FileApp Pro) and while the email arrived OK and the Inbox shows an attachment there is nowhere to click and open the document from.
The name of the pdf is listed in the detail of the message but there is no icon within the message to open it with.
The first page of the pdf file was shown within the message too.
The trick was to click and hold somewhere within the first page (displayed in the email).
This prompts the "Open in ..." popup from which you can open your preferred pdf reader to see the whole document.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have adobe acrobat 11 reader writer I want to use the pointer symbol on full screen instead of the hand, iwas able to do it on adobe 10 also when in full screen i can't open attachments unless i right click and open it then it boots me out of full scree

I have adobe acrobat 11 reader writer I want to use the pointer symbol on full screen instead of the hand, iwas able to do it on adobe 10 also when in full screen i can't open attachments unless i right click and open it then it boots me out of full screen is there any way i can click on the attacment without going out of full screen

I don't know why the change, but the pointer appears in the same way as it does on the main screen, not a pointer. There does not appear to be anyway to change it. You may want to submit a comment to the Features Requests: Acrobat Feature Requests. I also submitted this as a bug.
As a clarification, your "adobe acrobat 11 reader writer" is not informative. There is Acrobat 11 and Reader 11. Writer is not a product as such. So you have referred to Acrobat in a contradictory manner. In the future, please just indicate Acrobat 11 or Adobe Acrobat 11.

  • Why can't I use adobe flash player to open attachments

Why can't I use adobe to open attachments - have downloaded latest version but still get a black page

You're probably using IE11. This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser, at least until Microsoft gets their act together and fixes IE..
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

I'm often having issues with clients not seeing or being able to open attachments, font formatting changes (on the pc end) and the inability to use HTML signatures to promote our company brand.

I imagine your clients must be using Outlook, which is seriously broken when it comes to e-mail standards, especially HTML e-mail. You can work around the issues with Outlook by only sending plain-text e-mails and making sure that, in the Edit -> Attachments menu, the last two options are checked. Unfortunately, that means that HTML signatures are out.
If you need something with a fancy layout, either attach a PDF file to the e-mail or include a link to a website in the e-mail.

  • Need to synch calendar and contacts, but also open attachments with OWA

I have a client with a Tour 9630.  They are using Exchange 2007 so we cannot use BES or BPS on that server (their only one).
His biggest gripe using the redirector was that he could not open attachments.  After doing some digging, I found out that you cannot open attachments unless you are using the BIS service and connecting through OWA.
SO...fought the authentication issues since they have a self-signed certificate on their Exchange box...turned off all the authentication and woila..OWA worked like a charm.
NOW, though, his contacts and calendar no longer synch since he is just hitting the OWA mail!
Is there a way to enable opening attachments while still synching calendar and contacts?
I turned off redirector on the pc since OWA was working.
If I turn the redirector back on to keep the synch going, will he get duplicates of mail?

I've gotten this 4403 error before, and somehow resolved it without knowing how.
THIS TIME, however, I  tried turning off the synch on my Documents-To-Go, and that fixed things.
Checking on other discussions on the internet regarding this "Protocol Error: Too many files. (4403)", I'm seeing a pattern of Documents-To-Go when resident apps are listed, which seems to tentatively confirm my conclusion. The obvious implication here is that one or more versions of Docs-To-Go have a conflict with something in one or more versions of the Palm OS, and/or other 3rd party apps.
I've be interested in whether this works in other users' experiences.

  • Problems opening attachments from outlook

This week I have been unable to open attachments from Outlook 2010. I use Firefox as my browser and for some reason when I click on an attachment it is downloaded into Firefox. This has only just started to happen. If I try to open a PDF document I would
expect it to just open as a PDF rather than a Firefox download. How can I resolve this issue?

    Hi Tweek,
Might be you are working with disabled attachment preview option. Follow the given path and turn on it:
File >> Options >> Trust Center >> Trust Center Settings (under Microsoft Outlook Trust Center) >> Attachment Handling
If the above solution does not help, then change the default program for opening attachment. Make a right click on the PDF Document and select
“Open With” option. Choose the default program and set it to as
“Always the selected program to open this kind of file”.

Feel free to response back for further response!!!
Note: Make sure that Adobe Acrobat should be installed in your machine.
    Thanks

  • How do I open attachments in emails I have received?

How do I open attachments in emails I receive to view them before I send them on to friends?

Often, pictures or simple documents (eg, one-page PDFs) will appear directly within the message itself. You can also use the Quick Look button next to the attachments line (in the message header) to view and scroll through the files (provided they're viewable, and aren't compressed or binary files).
You can also click Save next to Quick Look to save the files to your Downloads folder.

  • Why can't I open all my emails, open attachments or send photos on my ipad anymore

Why can't I open all my emails, open attachments or send photos on my ipad anymore. Sometimes it takes awhile for an email to open, other times they open without any incident. I can't seem to be able to email any photos anymore.

It sounds like you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them.
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files at all. You will need to Export the Pages '08 files to Word .doc/x or use Pages '09 to open the Pages '08 files and resave them.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 older Pages files can not be opened in previous Pages.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • Opening attachments with a dot in the name in the Mail app

I'm having an issue opening attachments in Mail when the file includes a dot in the name.
For example, a file called name.v2.pdf does not seem to be recognized as a PDF file. It's not even recognized as anything, the file is shown in the mail but clicking on it does not trigger anything. Renaming that file to something like name-v2.pdf ("-" instead of ".") and everything is fine and working.
Anyone know how to get around that or if Apple plans a fixing this? I've been having the issue since iOS 5...
Only solution I found up to now is using another mail client than the default Mail app of Apple but that's a shame.

Sorry my bad. This is happening with zip files not pdf. Indeed I've retried with a pdf and it does work.
Usually with a zip file in a mail, I touch & hold the file to have the "open in" menu come up.
However, when the file is name like "name.v1.zip", the menu does not want to come up... which for a zip file is necessary since the Mail app does not handle zip files.
I've tried sending and receiving from different accounts, my gmail and my work Exchange account, in all cases, the file does not want to open if there is a period in the name other than the one for the extension.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Cannot open attachments with my firefox. my wife can with IE

with firefox I cannot open attachments in my emails. I have been forwarding these emails to my wife's email. She is using internet explorer by yahoo through AT&t and then I have no trouble opening them on her email.

hello jrhjmh, are you a yahoo mail user and does it work when you access yahoo mail through this link?: https://mail.yahoo.com/
    reference: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/971042
I'm not sure as to what exactly is going on, but it looks like yahoo has changed something on their side that makes certain old urls/servers dysfunctional (you may be currently using those because you've bookmarked them before or through your history) - at least quite a number of other users have reported that...
<br>so using the generic address https://mail.yahoo.com/ as a bookmark should lead you to the current & working url.

  • Mail default applications for opening attachments

I recently had to install Open Office in order to be able to open those kinds of documents produced by my colleagues. The only problem is that it now becomes the default application for opening .doc, .xls and .pps documents. I have changed this using command+i on each type and making sure I selected the "change all" so that each app opens under it's appropriate iWork program, but I still have a problem with Mail.
In Mail, if I get a .doc attachment, clicking on it automatically launches Open Office. Worse, when I right-click and choose "open with", Open Office is listed twice at the top of the list!
I loathe Open Office with a passion, not least because of this situation, but also because it frequently crashes and is still bound to using xterm. Nevertheless, I have to keep it as my colleagues are all on Ubuntu Linux and insist on using it for spreadsheets (to be honest, Open Office is okay on Linux).
If only iWork apps could open OpenOffice documents... ah well.
Any solutions would be most welcome!

Here's how you can set your preference for which application to use on a given file type:
    1. select a file of that type
    2. press CMD-I to bring up the file information
    3. Click on the little triangle to expand the "Open With" section
    4. Select the application you want to use for that type of file
    5. Click on the "Change All" button
This has worked for me in the case where I have Parallels Desktop installed and it wants to use my Office 2000 installation under Parallels to open MS Word & Excel attachments. I changed these to be opened by NeoOffice, and it works both from the finder and when opening attachments in Mail.
    I hope this helps...

  • Can't download attachments using the MS CRM 2011 Outlook client

    Hello,
I am trying to Open/Save Attachment (from Notes in Meeting Entity) in MS CRM 2011 for Outlook Client. Once I click on attachement nothing happen.
Both CRM Server (On-Premise) and Outlook client are UR13. Its ADFS deployment.
    I've tried solution here:

    Thx for response Daniel.
Attachements are stored directly in CRM DB (in Annotation table).
I have also tried fiddler. And it looks response was OK (200). I think its problem with CRM for outlook client.

  • Problem viewing files that were saved as Attachments using PSoft functions

    Hello,
I am trying to apply the code delivered in FILE_ATTACH_WRK to send an attachment to our server, and also to retrieve (view) the file. I am able to save the attachments and also to retrieve them for viewing. But something is happening to the files when I return them from the server to view them. For example, I saved a text file, but when I pull the file back for viewing it appears that all the carriage returns have been removed. A file saved like this....
    -- Script : delete_bad_referral.sql
    --+
    -- 01/10/2011 rjm
    --+
-- Return failure code when program does not complete successfully
    whenever sqlerror exit failure;
    whenever oserror exit failure;
    Comes back looking like this:
+-- Script : delete_bad_referral.sql -- -- 01/10/2011 rjm -- -- Return failure code when program does not complete successfully whenever sqlerror exit failure; whenever oserror exit failure; set echo on set feedback on set head off set linesize 500 --select select * FROM sysadm+
Has anyone seen this before? Know how to correct it?

Apologies if I switch gears here. Your last post was helpful and may have helped to resolve the problem with .txt files. But I just returned from a meeting and the customers have refined their requirement so that users can only attach files within the Office suite - ie Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.... So .txt files will not be a problem.
However, I just encountered a problem working with an Excel file as an attachment. I have no problem returning a .docx file - it opens just fine in Word. I can also save a .pdf file and have it open fine using View. But when I attach a .xlsx file, viewing it returns a .zip file! If I click Open, it breaks the file into several directories including _rels, docProps, xl, etc.... and several .xml files.  Nothing in the unzipped structure is viewable as an Excel file.
What would be causing this to happen?
