Opening audio attachments

I tried to listen to my Vonage voicemails through the Vonage website using my iPhone, I clicked on the link to open the file and I get an error from Quicktime saying "Cannot Play Movie. The server is not correctly configured".
I also tried saving the file but it didn't give me that option when I kept pressing on the link. With my other phone, which is not an iPhone it works fine. I'm wondering what are those settings I have wrong or if it's just an iPhone problem.
Thanks!

What file format are those voice mails in? Do they match what is supported by the iPhone?

    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.
If the video attachments are Windows Media Video files (WMV files that include a .wmv file extension), WMV is a closed/proprietary Microsoft video format. Microsoft stopped providing and supporting a Windows Media Player version for the Mac and OS X many years ago. There is a 3rd party player that provides for this on a Mac and there is a 3rd party app that provides for this on the iPhone.

  • How can I open all attachments in mail at once?

I use Mail to collect messages from the IMAP server rather than logging in through my university's webmail interface.  I often get mail messages with many attachments that all need to be opened at once (example: an admissions application that has 7 or 8 components for me to review).  Clicking on each of them separately is a pain, particularly since I have repetitive strain issues, and the various applications needed to open the attachments (Word and Adobe Reader for example) want to grab focus after every click, forcing me to keep switching programs.
Is there any way I can tell Mail to just open all attachments to a message at once?

    Try:
Select the attachments you want to open. (Use click, shift click, command click, as usual.)  Control-click on (one of) the selected attachments. Then select "Open Selected Attachments".

  • Can not open email attachments in yahoo mail

I can not open any attachments in my yahoo email account using firefox. However I can open them in IE. Please help!

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Why can't I download or open tif attachments on my iPad Air and IPhone 5s in mail running 7.1.2?

Why can't I open tif attachments on my iPad Air and IPhone 5s in mail running 7.1.2?
Tap to Download icon flashes but does nothing.

I just hooked this thing up to my computer and was able to load new apps and update via the app store that way, installing them onto the iPad via sync. Very annoying though as I cannot make in app purchases etc still.
Wish apple wouldn't pull this kind of junk.

  • I can't open .mov attachments in mail with ios 7.1? Please help?

    Hi
Ever since I downloaded ios 7.1 I can't open .mov attachments in my email. I can email a movie file to myself from the same device and when I click to download it, I get a generic icon and it simply goes to a white screen.
I never had this problem until ios 7.1
    Help please?

I my case there is no button - I can't even scroll down. But I also don't get any error message, especially not "domain error 912".
If I try to open the .mov file the screen shows the movie-progressbar (where you can normally scroll through the video) for half a second and then the screen goes gray. In the middle of the gray screen I can see the file name and the text "QuickTime-Film" (german version) and the file size. Underneath is a "play-button" (with no reaction if I click on it) and the buttons for forwarding the movie and the button for airplay. No "Download full message"-button.
Seems that we are having different problems with more or less the same result. Again, it only seems to happen with mail which was sent through MS Exchange and it started with IOS 7.1. Therefore I don't think that we can fix it but I hope that someone from Apple is "listening".
My fault! I misunderstood your posting - I was looking for a "download full message"-Button on the screen AFTER clicking on the movie icon. But you meant the mail itself - and there I found it. Thanx! That also explains why small mail went through without problems but larger didn't.

    according to MS KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278061
That file is made when someone is using Rich text format and attaches a file. Have them switch to either HTML or plain text and reatatch the file and you should see the proper attachments.

  • Recipients are unable to open my attachments.

    Hi all,
First time posting so please excuse any misused terminology and the like.  I'm having trouble with Mac Mail.  I use iCloud mail for my service and I have my iCloud account connected to "Mail" on my iMac.  I also have a Hotmail account connected to Mail that I occasionally use.
I recently tried to send a PDF to a Windows user using my iCloud account but they were unable to open the attachment.  They could view the message fine and the attachment showed up but they were getting an error when they tried to open it.  They also tried to save the attachment to their computer and then open it with no luck.  When I took a look at the sent e-mail I was also unable to open the PDF.  I was getting an error that read:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'Order Receipt.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an e-mail attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
So I tried again with another file type, this time it was a tiff image with similar issues.  Still unable to open the file getting a different error message.  I then tried using my Hotmail address as the sending e-mail account, still with no luck.  I then was forced to use the Hotmail web site to send the mail and that worked fine, much to my chagrin.  I then tried to send it via the web based version of iCloud which didn't seem to work from my end at first, I was unable to open the file by clicking on it, still receiving the same error message mentioned above but when I saved it to my downloads folder I was able to open it up clicking on the file from my downloads stack on the dock.  Once it opened up this way I was also able to open it up by clicking on the file in the e-mail.
Upon further investigation, I noticed I was unable to open any attachments to an e-mail as soon as I attached them.  When I attach a file by clicking and dragging the file into the e-mail, the icon shows up in the mail, which is strange because normally the attachments show up embedded in the e-mail, but when I click on them I get the error message and the file size for the attachment is 0KB.  If I try to attach something using the paperclip icon at the top of the mail message a window opens up where I can select the file but when I select it and click "Choose File" the file selection window closes but nothing seems to have attached to the e-mail.
I've been researching this for a few days now and I've tried rebuilding my mailbox, to no avail.
Sorry if this is a little wordy but from what I've seen in forums, the more information you give on what you've done, the better.
    Any clue what's going on?
    Thanks in advance!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.
